The first World Humanoid (像人的) Robot Games (WHRG) were held in Beijing from August 14 to 17,2025. Over 500 robots around the world joined 26 different events.
One of the most exciting events was the robot football match. In the 5V5 game, all robots were controlled by AI— no humans! The robots could see with their cameras, make decisions, and run to kick the ball. Some even did a “power kick” to shoot from far away. Some robots ran the referees (裁判) down, making people laugh. Some passed balls, but some even scored into their own goal by mistake. The mix of exciting successes and funny mistakes shows that robots are developing quickly, but still need to improve at moving and working together.
Besides sports, these robots also showed other useful skills. They could move heavy boxes, sort different medicines, and help with cleaning. This means robots are not only for games, but they can really help people in daily life.
Many countries are now working together to develop robot technology. China is sharing its knowledge and experience with other nations. Countries like Russia and Nepal are interested in using robots in education and tourism.
Robots are becoming smarter and more helpful. Maybe soon, you will see them everywhere— in schools, hospitals, and even at home!

There are more wildfires than in the past. Over 100,000 wildfires burn each year in America. Russia has 20,000 to 35,000 wildfires every year. Australia has, on average, 60,000 each year. These fires destroy huge areas of forests and burn hundreds of homes.
Many experts believe there are several reasons for this sudden increase in fires. The first reason is climate change. Recent weather has been warmer and drier. This leads to dangerous fire conditions. When lightning strikes, dry grass easily catches fire. Hot winds add to the problem. The wind spreads the fire quickly. In 2010, Russia had the hottest and driest summer in a century. In just one month, 500 fires destroyed over 2,000 homes. Some people lost their lives.
Traditional fire-fighting practices are another reason for the increase in fires. In America, firefighters used to quickly put out every fire. They didn’t allow the grass and trees to burn. As a result, today many forests have thicker vegetation (植被). Thicker vegetation means more fuel (燃料) for fires. Also, without fires from time to time, forests become overcrowded and unhealthy. Some trees are dead. The dead wood then easily catches fire. So surprisingly, America has many more fires today, partly because of its past fire-fighting practices.
Scientists now understand that a fire can be a natural part of a healthy forest. As a result, countries like Australia allow more fires to burn naturally. Sometimes, firefighters even start fires to keep away from dead wood. Of course, they carefully control the fires. The fire thins out old trees. This allows sunlight to reach the ground. As a result, fires help new trees to grow. Therefore, if a fire is not a serious threat (威胁) to people, firefighters may let it burn naturally.

The earth’s climate depends a lot on its geographical features (特征). Mountains, oceans, deserts, and even the height of the land can change the weather around us. Geography works like a huge map, deciding whether a place is hot, cold, wet, or dry.
High mountains often create their own weather. For example, when warm, wet air climbs mountains, it rises and cools, creating heavy rainfall on one side. At the same time, the other side stays dry, making a “rain shadow (a dry area behind the mountains)”. This is why some valleys (山谷) are green, while nearby areas look like deserts.
How far a place is from the sea also matters. Coastal (海边的) areas usually have comfortable temperatures because the ocean takes in heat in summer and gives it out in winter. Places far from the sea face hotter summers and colder winters. Latitude (纬度) plays a role too—— places near the equator (赤道) receive more direct sunlight, making them warmer all year round.
Altitude (海拔) changes temperature as well. Even near the equator, high mountains have snow on their tops. This happens because the temperature falls by about 6℃ for every 1,000 meters you go higher. This explains why people living in high-altitude villages wear thick clothes even in warm areas.
Understanding geography helps us predict the weather and prepare for natural challenges. From farming to building cities, this knowledge shapes human life deeply.

41. Why did Russia have so many fires in one month in 2010?(no more than 12 words)
