An 11-year-old girl from Liaoning, China saved a woman who was choking (窒息). Many people online said that she did a good job. It happened on August 8 at a hot pot restaurant.
That day, Ms Wu was eating hot pot and drinking milk tea when she suddenly choked. She stood up, held her throat and could not breathe. Her friends and restaurant workers tried to help by hitting her on the back, but it didn't work.
At that moment, Hu Zihan, a primary school student at a nearby table, came to help. She told everyone she had first aid (急救) training. Hu quickly went behind Ms Wu, put her arms around the woman, and performed the Heimlich manoeuvre (海姆立克急救法). After five or six pushes, Ms Wu could breathe again. The helping process (过程) took only about half a minute.
Hu Zihan explained later, "I learned this life-saving skill on August 1. I remembered the training: the first four minutes are the most important in an emergency. Everyone should learn first aid. It can really save lives."

Do you know meerkats (猫鼬)? They are small. Their bodies are about 29cm long. They mainly live in the dry areas in Africa, with enemies everywhere. So how do meerkats stay alive in such a challenging environment?
Well, they have developed many skills: They're good at hunting (狩猎); they can see enemies from far away. But the most important is that they live and work together as a team.
Meerkats live underground in groups. Everyone has a role to play. Usually, one meerkat watches for enemies, and the others are responsible for tasks like looking after the baby meerkats and looking for food. When danger comes, the guard meerkat will make a loud warning sound so that all the others can run and hide. Sometimes, if there is a direct fight, meerkats will work together to drive away the enemies.

The N39° scenic area (景区) in Makit, Xinjiang lies in the south-western part of the Taklimakan Desert. This desert is known as the "Sea of Death". In the past, sandstorms often happened in the area. As a result, local people lived a hard life.
However, great changes have taken place there over the years. To prevent (防止) sandstorms and improve the environment, local people planted thousands of trees. In November 2024, they completed a 3,046-kilometre green belt around the Taklimakan Desert. So far, the protective forests have covered an area of around 30,666 hectares (公顷) in Makit alone.
While improving the environment, local people have also worked hard to develop tourism. The N39∘ scenic area has been a popular tourist attraction since it opened to the public in 2016. According to a report, about 500,000 visitors from home and abrond travel there for exciting adventures every year.
