HOW TO DOYou’ll need;
a jar a balloon scissors a straw a rubber band A4paper a ruler a pencil a tape
Let’s make your own barometer (气压计). Then you can measure (测量) air pressure at home and predict the weather yourself!
1. Make the Rubber Cover Scissor off 1/3 of the balloon’s bottom. Spread the left part. Pull it tight over the jar top. Press the balloon to make it smooth and tie it with a rubber band.
2. Fix the Straw Pointer
Cut one straw-end at 45°for a sharp point. Tape the straw’s other end to the balloon’s center. Make sure it points straightly—it’s your “pointer”!
3. Draw the Lines Put an A4 paper in front of the straw’s sharp end. Mark the straw-pointing spot with a pencil. Use a ruler to make 4lines each above and below
this spot, 0.5cm apart.
4. Name the Weather Signs
Draw a sun next to the top mark, a cloud with raindrops next to the bottom mark. Place the whole device (装置) in a corner where it won’t be disturbed (打扰).
5. Observe (观察) and Record
Check straw position daily at set times, and record where it points. If the straw points to the top mark, the weather will probably be dry and sunny. If it points to the bottom mark, it may rain. If it’s in the middle, the weather will likely stay the same.
How it works…
Warm air rising causes low pressure (common in rainy weather), and inside air pushes the balloon lid (盖子) out, and then, the moving straw pointer goes down. Sunny days opposite.
51.Among all the following objects, which are what we need in Step 1?
A. B. C. D.

When we think of forests, we usually imagine trees standing still on dry land. But have you ever seen a forest that “walks”? In the coastal (沿海的) areas of Fujian and other southern provinces, there is a special kind of forest called the mangrove (红树林). These trees seem to “walk” across the mud over time.
Mangroves are wonders of nature because they can live in salt water, where most other trees would die. Their most amazing feature is their root system. Instead of growing straight down, many mangrove roots grow up and out of the water, looking like legs or stilts (高跷). These “legs” help the tree breathe air even when the tide (潮汐) covers the ground. They also hold the tree firmly against strong waves and winds.
How do they “walk”? As a mangrove tree grows older, its old roots may die and rot (腐烂) away. At the same time, new roots grow in the direction of the sea or along the coast. Over many years, this process makes the tree appear to move slowly from its original spot. In fact, the position of a single tree can shift (移动/偏移) several meters over a century!
Besides being amazing, mangroves are very useful. They act as a natural wall protecting villages from typhoons and storms. Their dense roots provide a safe home for fish, crabs, and birds. Many baby fish hide among the roots to avoid larger enemies.
However, these wonderful forests are in danger. Pollution and human activities have reduced their numbers. Luckily, Fujian Province has set up many nature reserves (保护区) to protect them. By planting more mangroves, we are not only saving the trees but also protecting our own homes from natural disasters.
56.Why are mangrove trees called “walking trees”?
A.Because they can move their legs like animals.
B.Because they grow new roots and lose old ones, slowly changing their position.
C.Because the wind blows them from one place to another quickly.
D.Because people carry them to different spots every year.
57.What is the main function of the mangrove’s “stilt roots”?
A.To make the tree look beautiful for tourists.
B.To help the tree get food from deep underground.
C.To help the tree breathe and stay stable in the water.
D.To stop fish from swimming near the tree.
58.The underlined word “dense” in Paragraph 4 probably means “________”.
A.thick and close together B.small and weak C.high and tall D.dry and hard
59.According to the text, which of the following is TRUE?
A.Mangroves can only grow on dry land.
B.Baby fish use mangrove roots as a hiding place.
C.Mangrove trees move several meters every day.
D.There are no mangrove forests in Fujian Province.
60.What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph?
A.Protecting mangroves is only important for birds.
B.Human activities have no effect on mangrove forests.

HOW TO DOYou’ll need;
a jar a balloon scissors a straw a rubber band A4paper a ruler a pencil a tape

C.Planting mangroves helps both nature and humans.
D.We should stop all fishing activities near the coast.

“Oh, the boy is in danger! He may fall down,” Kyrie thought. As a result, she ran to the door and shouted, trying to find his parents. But no one answered. Kyrie quickly went back home and called the police. When she came back, the little boy had fallen out! He was hanging there by his hands! She stood in the place right under him. He was a single father raising a five-year-old boy by himself. He was often worried about his son’s growing up without a mother to care for him.
One day, he went away on business, leaving the child alone. He went home after he finished his work. When he got home, the child was deep asleep. He was tired out. He was about to sleep when he was surprised to find an overturned bowl of noodles under the quilt. He hit his son angrily.
“Why are you so careless, making the quilt dirty? Who will wash it?” It was the first time that he had hit his boy after his wife’s death.
“Sorry, but...”, the child explained with tears in his eyes. “This is your supper, daddy.” In order to let his father eat dinner, as soon as he got home, the child prepared two bowls of noodles. One for himself, the other for his father. He was afraid that his father’s noodles would get cold, so he put them under the quilt.
Hearing this, the father hugged his boy tightly without saying a word.

结合空后“with my sister”及固定搭配“compare A with B”(把A和B作比较),应用compare。
空后为“them”(指代父母),结合固定搭配“argue with sb”(和某人争吵),应用with。for“为了”、about“关于”、from“来自”均不与argue搭配表“和某人争吵”。

51.第一步中需要用到的物品:“Make the Rubber Cover Scissor off 1/3 of the balloon’s bottom. Spread the left part. Pull it tight over the jar top. Press the balloon to make it smooth and tie it with a rubber band.”,根据此步骤,需要用到瓶子、气球、剪刀和橡皮筋。
52.文中第二步指出:“Tape the straw’s other end to the balloon’s center. Make sure it points straightly—it’s your ‘pointer’!”,说明吸管被用作指针来指向刻度线。
53.第三步中画线的部分:“Use a ruler to make 4lines each above and below this spot, 0.5cm apart.”,意思是在标记点的上下各画4条线,每两条线间隔0.5厘米,因此图片应为在中心点上下各有4条等距线。
54.How it works…说明:“Warm air rising causes low pressure (common in rainy weather), and inside air pushes the balloon lid (盖子) out, and then, the moving straw pointer goes down. Sunny days opposite.”,即晴天情况与雨天相反,雨天是低压导致气球盖向外、指针向下,因此晴天应是高压导致气球盖向内、指针向上。
55.全文围绕自制气压计这一科学实验展开,属于科学类内容,因此对应A项“Science”。

【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了红树林这种特殊的“会行走的树”,围绕其特点、作用及保护现状展开说明。
56.根据第3段中的“As a mangrove tree grows older, its old roots may die and rot (腐烂) away...In fact, the position of a single tree can shift (移动/偏移) several meters over a century!”
57.根据第2段中的“Instead of growing straight down, many mangrove roots grow up and out of the water, looking like legs or stilts (高跷). These “legs” help the tree breathe air even when the tide (潮汐) covers the ground. They also hold the tree firmly against strong waves and winds.”
58.根据第4段中的“Their dense roots provide a safe home for fish, crabs, and birds. Many baby fish hide among the roots to avoid larger enemies.”
59.根据第4段中的“Many baby fish hide among the roots to avoid larger enemies.”
60.根据最后1段中的“By planting more mangroves, we are not only saving the trees but also protecting our own homes from natural disasters.”

An accident can happen at any time. Once, when I was riding home after school along Green Street, I lost myself in music. I enjoyed the music so much that I didn’t know that a car was driving to me. As a result, the car hit me and I hurt my legs. The driver sent me to the hospital to get an X-ray right away. Luckily, I wasn’t hurt badly but I needed to put some medicine on my legs every night.
To get away from traffic accidents, we should be careful when we are on the road. We should pay our full attention to the traffic situation around us.
