写作项目——Writing a biography
本单元的写作任务是写一篇传记。传记是记载人物生平事迹的一种文体,写作时应以人物为中心组织材料,传记的内容要包括人物的简介、主要事迹以及人们的评价等。人物传记的写作一般要求“真、信、活”,既要保证内容的准确性又要做到文章的连贯性和表达的得体性,以达到对人物特征和深层精神的表达和反映。
写作技法指导
(一)品参考范文
In 2015, for the first time, a Chinese scientist won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She is Tu Youyou.
Born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on 30 December 1930, Tu Youyou studied at Beijing Medical College (now Peking University Health Science Centre) from 1951 to 1955. Since 1955, she has worked at China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences as a tenured and chief researcher. In 1969, she worked as the leader of a research team aiming to discover a treatment for malaria. By 1972, she had managed to extract qinghaosu from a Chinese herb, which is very effective in fighting malaria. Fourteen years later, she obtained a New Drug Certificate for qinghaosu, issued by the Ministry of Health of China. Because of her great contribution, she was presented with the Nobel Prize at the age of 85.In 2019, she was also nominated for “The Greatest Person of the 20th Century”.
Not only has she saved many people suffering from malaria, but also she has proved the effectiveness of Chinese herbs. Furthermore, she is admired because she devotes most of her time and energy to medical research.

1.学行文逻辑
范文的第一段开门见山,通过叙述屠呦呦的主要成就(for the first time, a Chinese scientist won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine),对其进行总体介绍,以引起读者的关注;第二段为主体部分,以屠呦呦为中心组织材料,按时间顺序介绍其出生、教育背景、工作经历以及突出贡献等;第三段为结尾部分,对屠呦呦进行评价,主要从所带来的影响或给人们的启示等方面进行展开。
2.学衔接过渡
范文采用倒叙法,按照时间、空间和逻辑顺序介绍屠呦呦的生平事迹,增加了文本的连贯性,使表达更加顺畅紧凑。
(1)首段使用时间状语In 2015,先对屠呦呦的主要成就进行简单介绍。
(2)第二段中使用了时间副词短语:on 30 December 1930, from 1951 to 1955, Since 1955, In 1969, By 1972, at the age of 85和In 2019。使用了表示空间的名词短语:Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, Beijing Medical College (now Peking University Health Science Centre), China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences。表示因果关系的短语Because of her great contribution也增加了语言的连贯性和准确性。

3.学亮点表达
