1.Master the key vocabulary related to animals and their characteristics, such as "bat", "butterfly", "honeybee", "ant", "wing", "taste", "lift", "weight", etc.

2.Understand and be able to use the sentence patterns to describe animal facts.

3.Improve students' reading and comprehension skills by matching the facts with the correct animals.

2. Using the learned language to describe and share other animal facts fluently in conversations.

学习内容

Step 1: Warming-up

Show some pictures of different animals and ask students to name them. Then ask a few questions to lead in the topic, such as "Do you know any special facts about these animals?"

Step 2: Presentation

 1. Present the new words and phrases through pictures and explanations. For example, show a picture of a bat and say, "This is a bat. Bats have wings and they find their way by listening."

2. Display the four animal facts and the pictures of the four animals (bat, butterfly, honeybee, ant) on the PPT. Ask students to read the facts carefully and try to match them with the right animals.

3. Check the answers and explain the reasons. For example, for the fact "They have four wings. They taste things with their feet.", show a picture of a butterfly and explain how butterflies have four wings and use their feet to taste.

 Step 3: Practice

 1. Ask students to work in pairs. One student reads an animal fact, and the other student guesses which animal it is. Then they switch roles.

2. Invite several pairs to present their conversations to the class.

 Step 4: Conversation

 1. Present the model conversation between Millie and Simon. Explain the use of words like "really", "wow", and "ha" to express surprise, excitement, or interest.

2. Ask students to work in pairs and have similar conversations about the animal facts they know.

3. Walk around the classroom to offer guidance and help.

 Step 5: Presentation and Sharing

 1. Invite some pairs to come to the front and present their conversations to the whole class.

2. Encourage other students to ask questions or share their own thoughts and animal facts.

 Step 6: Summary and Homework

  Summarize the key points of this lesson, including the vocabulary and sentence patterns about animal facts.

Step 1: Lead-in

1. Show some pictures of different pets and ask students: What animals do people keep as pets in your neighbourhood? What do these animals often do?

2. Encourage students to share their answers and have a brief discussion.

Step 2: Pre-reading

1. Present the title of the reading passage "Poems about pets" and ask students to predict what the poems might be about.

2. Guide students to think about the questions before reading and have a quick discussion.

Step 3: While-reading

1. First reading: Skimming

Ask students to read the two poems quickly and answer the following questions:

- What pets are mentioned in the poems?

- What are the main characteristics of these pets?

2. Second reading: Intensive reading

- Ask students to read the poems carefully and complete the rhyme exercise:

- All rhymes with ball.

- Tricks rhymes with sticks.

- Bites rhymes with fights.

- Stay rhymes with play.

- Friend rhymes with end.

- Fur rhymes with purr.

- High rhymes with sky.

- Eyes rhymes with lies.

- Tree rhymes with me.
