Climbing coconut trees is a popular sport in Hainan. It recently became an exciting competition in the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities. On November 21, my friends and I attended the event to feel the excitement of the race.
At the playground, we saw two tall, realistic coconut trees. Li Yan, a judge*, explained, “The athletes (运动员) have to climb to the top of the trees and hit the timers. The fastest one wins.” According to him, male athletes climb to a height of 9 meters, while female athletes climb to 7 meters. As the competition began, athletes from different teams rushed to the trees and reached the top in just a few seconds, using their hands and feet. Everyone in the crowd cheered them on
The excitement was contagious (具有感染力的), and my friends and I couldn’t help but try climbing, too. We ran to the trees, jumped up, and held on to them, but it was much harder than it looked. We didn’t know how to push ourselves up! “You need to use your legs and arms together,” said Pan Zihao, an athlete. “It’s not just about strength, it’s also about speed!” added Li Xu, another athlete.
After two hours of trying, we were tired but happy. When we wrapped it up for the day, a friend asked why climbing coconut trees is so popular in Hainan. “It is a sport that brings you close to nature,” Li Yan replied. “You can enjoy the beautiful things around while having fun.”
* The judge is the person who officially decides who is the winner of a competition.

A.Pick a coconut. B.Hit the timers.
C.Wave to the crowd. D.Shout out their names.

A.To show the sport is dangerous. B.To explain the complex rules.
C.To show how skilled the athletes are. D.To explain why they gave up.
21.The underlined word “It” refers to “______” in Paragraph 4.
A.The National Traditional Games B.Going on an outing with friends

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day reality, especially in education. Tools like AI tutors and automated writing assistants are becoming common in classrooms worldwide. While many educators welcome these changes for their efficiency, a growing debate concerns the potential downsides of over-reliance on this technology.
Supporters argue that AI offers personalization without equal. It can analyze a student’s performance in real-time, identify knowledge gaps, and provide tailored exercises, effectively acting as a private tutor for every learner. This can free up teachers from routine grading, allowing them to focus on more meaningful interactions and fostering critical thinking skills. Furthermore, AI can make learning more engaging through interactive simulations and provide access to vast resources, providing equal access to education for students in remote areas.
However, critics warn of significant risks. The most pressing concern is the obstacle to the development of independent thinking. If students constantly turn to AI for instant answers and polished essays, they may skip the essential, though often frustrating, process of struggle and discovery. This struggle is where deep learning, problem-solving skills, and intellectual ability to recover are developed. Over-dependence on AI could lead to a generation that is skilled at using tools but lacks the fundamental ability to analyze and create by themselves.
Moreover, an over-reliance on algorithmic (算法的) recommendations might create an “intellectual bubble,” limiting students’ exposure to diverse perspectives and challenging viewpoints. The human element of a teacher-mentoring, inspiring, and understanding a student’s emotional state is something AI cannot imitate.
In conclusion, AI is a powerful tool, but it should serve as an aid, not a replacement for the human core of education. The challenge for educators and students is to strike a balance. We must learn to take advantage of AI’s strengths for efficiency and personalization while consciously defending the space for critical thought, creativity, and the invaluable human connection that truly drives learning forward.
23.What is the main argument of the passage regarding AI in education?
A.It should entirely replace traditional teaching for greater efficiency.
B.It is a transformative tool that needs careful management to avoid harm.
C.It enhances personalized learning but overlooks potential risks.
D.It mainly threatens teachers’ job security all around the world.
24.According to Para. 3, what is the main criticism of over-using AI?
A.It is too expensive for schools to implement.
B.It makes learning less interesting for students.
C.It gives out wrong or misleading information.
D.It prevents the growth of independent thinking
25.The phrase “intellectual bubble” in Para. 4 most likely refers to a situation where students ________.
A.only care about AI-related subjects. B.see only algorithm-suggested content.
C.grow less smart without a teacher’s help. D.face too many conflicting views and ideas.
26.Which is the best title of the text?
A.AI in Education: A Double-Edged Sword Requiring Balance
B.The Intellectual Bubble: A Risk of Over-Reliance on Algorithms
C.AI’s Role in Education: Enhancing Efficiency and Personalization
D.AI Tutoring Systems: Delivering Customized Educational Experiences
【答案】23.B 24.D 25.B 26.A

23.文章先介绍AI在教育中的优势,如“AI offers personalization… acting as a private tutor”,随后指出风险,如“over-dependence on AI could lead to a generation… lacks the fundamental ability”,最后提出“In conclusion… strike a balance”,说明AI是有利有弊,需要合理使用。
24.第三段指出“The most pressing concern is the obstacle to the development of independent thinking”,说明过度使用AI会阻碍独立思考能力的发展。
25.第四段提到“over-reliance on algorithmic recommendations might create an ‘intellectual bubble,’ limiting students’ exposure to diverse perspectives”,说明“intellectual bubble”指学生只接触算法推荐内容,视野受限。
D
“No print, no year” is an old saying that many people in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, still follow.
The “print” here refers to (指的是) Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Prints, a special kind of nianhua, or New Year pictures and it got its name from the Taohuawu area in Suzhou. Known for its bright colors, clear patterns and many different themes, Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Prints was named Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (人类非物质文化遗产) in 2006. One of its inheritors is Sun Yibo, who has worked on Taohuawu prints for over 20 years.
“Though seen as nianhua, Taohuawu Prints not only show the traditional images, such as door gods, flowers and birds, and court ladies,” said Sun. “To keep the traditional craft alive, artists have also added elements from popular culture, like games, films and even memes.”
Such rich themes also mean difficult processes. Sun said that to make a woodblock New Year picture, artists need to draw the draft (草图), carve (雕刻) the woodblocks, and then press the blocks one by one onto paper. “Each woodblock New Year picture follows the ‘one color on one carved block’ rule and is made with douban overlaying (覆盖) one color on top of another,” explained Sun. “One picture comes from at least two blocks, and some even from six blocks, depending on how many colors are in the picture.”
However, dabbing the right color on the block is never easy. Sun said that when he made a New Year picture showing a scene from the game Paper Bride, he printed and adjusted (调整) each color block more than 100 times before he got the right look.
It takes a long time to learn this woodblock print, so few people want to learn this skill. Even so, Sun and other inheritors in Suzhou are finding ways to pass down this traditional technique. “We have shows and classes at school. I am happy to see some students starting to learn it in class,” said Sun.
27.In which year was Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Prints named as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity?
A.2005. B.2006. C.2007. D.2008.

A.It’s not popular outside Suzhou.
B.It got the name because of the area.
C.It is famous for showing traditional figures.
D.It now includes themes from ancient culture.
29.Why does the writer mention Sun’s example of creating a game scene?
A.To show the importance of being patient in this craft.
B.To show the difficulties of getting the proper colors.
C.To show the popularity of game-themed work.
D.To show the disadvantage of the process.
30.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The difficulties of Taohuawu prints in modern times.
B.How to create Taohuawu woodblock prints step by step.
C.The efforts to protect and develop Taohuawu woodblock prints.
D.The differences between Taohuawu prints and other New Year pictures.

上文“Liu Wei was a shy boy who found it hard to share his true feelings.”

此句是“祈使句+and/or+简单句”的结构,“Try to be honest with yourself”和“you will never change the situation”是转折的逻辑关系,应使用or;and表示前后句是顺承关系,不符合此处逻辑。
下文“He was glad he had the courage to be different.”
下文“He asked his mom what it meant.”
下文“...having different ideas was not bad.”

上文“Liu Wei thought about this.”

下文“They respected him for being honest.”

My partner and I wrote the lines carefully, practiced pronunciation again and again, and even prepared simple props like a toy stethoscope.
