1.The day I heard that the Rainbow Bookstore was closing after 50 years of business, I was heartbroken.
2.A bunch of us kids would frequently drop by the store after school.
3.A few months later, I was back in the neighbourhood during my spring break and was surprised to see that the Rainbow Bookstore was still there and open for business.
4.Its old brick exterior hadn't changed, but inside it was like a different world.
①Hearing the bad news, she felt_heartbroken_and_couldn't_help_crying_bitterly.
②I was fully an hour late and I_was_surprised_to_see_that_he_still_waited_for_me_at_the_
gate.
1.Sighing deeply, he told me how it was becoming difficult to run an independent bookstore.
2.Childhood memories came back to me so clearly, as if the events had happened only yesterday.
①Breathing_deeply_after_hearing_the_surprising_news, he tried to calm himself down.
②You'll_feel_as_if_you_were_at_home while here.
When I left the bookstore, it was becoming cold and dark outside. I turned to wave goodbye to Casey, but both he and his bookstore were already hidden in a thick mist.
→Immediately, an_absolutely_thick_darkness ruled the forest. Jane, exhausted_and_scared, lay down near a stone, missing her family at a distance.

The Future of Cyberspace
Peter Taylor finds out how computers and the Internet are going to affect our lives.
For the past few decades, the Internet has grown rapidly. Some experts are pessimistic about the future. One worry is crime in cyberspace. Even now, young hackers can get into the computers of banks and governments. In the future, terrorists may “attack” the world's computers, cause chaos, and make planes and trains crash.
However, many people are optimistic about the future of the Internet. Already, users can buy books, find out about holiday offers, book tickets, and get all sorts of information from the Internet.
“In the next few years,” says Angela Rossetto of Cyberia magazine, “it is clear that we are going to see a huge growth in shopping on the Internet.” we will get entertainment from the Net and that television will probably disappear. The mail service may also disappear with the increasing use of e-mail.
Some experts see our future in virtual reality — the use of computers with sounds and pictures “Personally, I think virtual reality will become a part of modern life,” says Australian expert Peter Anderson.
“I see people living and working in a virtual world. We will work in virtual offices, shop in virtual supermarkets, and we will even study in virtual schools.”
