Instead, she explained each problem patiently, drawing pictures to make difficult concepts easier to understand. When Lena got stuck, Zoe encouraged her to try again, breaking down steps until she got it right. Lena also worked hard, taking detailed notes and practicing extra problems every night. Gradually, the “foreign language” of math became familiar, and she even started to feel a little excited when solving a tough question. Jax’s sneers faded, replaced by his surprised glances at Lena’s growing confidence.  The results of the final math exam came out. Lena’s hands shook as she picked up her paper, and a bright smile spread across her face when she saw a solid “B”. Tears of joy welled in her eyes — she had finally overcome her fear of math. She ran to thank Zoe, who hugged her happily, and then found Mr. Carter to share the good news. He patted her shoulder proudly, saying her hard work had paid off. Lena realized that with kindness, encouragement and perseverance, no difficulty was insurmountable. 1. Ada’s mother and father (the famous poet Lord George Gordon Byron) parted just weeks after she was born. Her mother feared her growing up with her father’s changeable nature. To stop this from happening, Ada was forced by her mother to learn science and mathematics which was unusual for women at the time. She was also punished if her work was not up to standard. However, she was greatly interested in mathematics and science and would perhaps have learned about them on her own. Ada was partially disabled and as a result spent much time studying. Ada knew of her mother’s thought about keeping the creative side of her from germinating (萌芽), however, as Ada herself is known to have said, “If you can’t give me poetry at least give me poetical science.” Ada married at 19, to William King who was made Earl of Lovelace in 1838, at which point she became Lady Ada King, the Countess of Lovelace, but was known as Ada Lovelace. Ada and King had a relatively happy marriage, with King even encouraging his wife’s love for numbers. During her youth Ada was introduced to the Scot, Mary Somerville, who was known as the “Queen of 19th Century Science” and was the first woman to be accepted into the Royal Astronomical Society. It was through Mary Somerville that Ada first heard of Charles Babbage’s idea for a new calculating (计算) engine. Attracted by this idea, Ada began a period of letter-writing with him that would come to decide her professional life. Ada met Babbage when she was around 17 and the two became close friends. Babbage was working on an “Analytical Engine”, something he was designing to deal with complex (复杂的) calculations. Ada was later asked to translate an article. She not only translated the article but added pages and pages of notes, calculations and innovations (创新). Her notes were published in 1843 and it turned out that what she had written was so original, it is now seen as the first comprehensive comment on what would become modern-day computer programming. Although impressive, Ada was not actually given credit for the article until 1848. 24. What happened to Ada in her childhood? A. She was expected to be a scientist. B. She was greatly cared for by her father. C. She was pushed to learn scientific knowledge. D. She was greatly influenced by her father’s nature. 25. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 mean?’ A. Ada preferred science over literature. B. Ada believed poetry was of less value than science. C. Ada accepted her mother’s plan without complaints. D. Ada looked for a way to combine logic with imagination. 26. What decided Ada’s professional life? A. Her introduction to Mary Somerville. B. Her communication with Charles Babbage. C. Her husband’s encouragement and support. D. Her being accepted into the Royal Astronomical Society. 27. How did Ada’s relationship with Babbage shape her place in history? A. She simply assisted him with his work. B. She lost interest after meeting him in person. C. She went beyond translation and added original ideas. D. She took full credit for designing the Analytical Engine. C Can AI music ever feel truly human? A recent experiment with the AI music platform Suno offers some clues (线索). The study, which used thousands of Suno-generated songs, asked participants to tell AI music apart from human compositions. Results showed that people were only about 53% correct — almost like guessing. When the music styles were very similar, their correctness rose to 66%, but Suno’s models are advancing rapidly. I tried Suno myself, using it to make a “1960s-style folk rock song with a male singer singing about protest”. The AI created it in seconds. Though I couldn’t easily tell it from human-made music, it didn’t touch me emotionally. This connects me to my personal experience with Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”, a song tied to memories of my father teaching me to play it — memories that make the song meaningful. Technology has long changed our relationship with music. From early file-sharing to modern streaming services, access has become effortless, as David Bowie, an iconic British rock musician active in the 1970s and 1980s, predicted years ago. Now, AI like Suno adds more music to the mix, with Spotify, a leading music streaming platform, recently removing 75 million “spammy (垃圾的)” tracks (though how many of them were AI-made isn’t known). History shows new music technologies always cause debate. For example, sampling (采样) was once seen as lazy or theft but is now considered an art form. AI music faces similar copyright questions, but its connection to music feels less personal than a DJ sampling a beloved song. While AI music quality improves, most of it, like most human music, may be forgotten. Listeners often seek (寻找) more than technical skill — they seek stories and human connections. Some exceptional AI songs might find use in films or internet memes, but deep emotional resonance (共鸣) still comes from human experiences. We should remain cautious, though. Past inventions like player pianos reduced family music-making at home. David Bowie believed live performances would remain the key to real audience connection. For now, AI can mimic (模仿) the sound of human music, but the human touch — the memories, stories, and passion behind it — is what makes music truly meaningful. 28. What was a key finding of the recent study on AI music? A. AI music still lacks the emotional depth found in human compositions. B. The more similar the musical styles, the harder it was to tell them apart. C. Participants were correct only about half of the time — no better than chance. D. Listeners could hardly tell AI-generated music from human-composed music. 29. Why did the author mention his father? A. To compare different music styles. B. To show his father’s musical talent. C. To explain how to learn to play a song. D. To prove AI music lacks emotional depth. 30. Which of the following statements might the author mostly agree with? A. Sampling is a more acceptable art form than AI music. B. What makes music meaningful is the human experiences behind it. C. AI music will soon replace human-made music in emotional depth. D. Most AI music will eventually be forgotten, while most human music will not. 31. What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To explain how AI music technology works. B. To prove that AI music will be more widespread. C. To discuss whether AI music can touch our hearts. D. To advise that musicians should give live performances. D Early memories can shape who we become. Sadly, many of my most important childhood moments centered around my struggles with body image. For most of my life, I have cared a lot about what others think of how I look. Whenever I’m around someone I don’t know well, I actively use body language to make myself appear thinner. When I was in fourth grade, I remember asking my best friend, “Do you think I’m fat?” She replied, “No, of course not.” But her answer didn’t comfort me. Since then, I have been extremely watchful of my body; I realized that the way I see myself isn’t the same as how others see me. Hearing people talk about weight gain as something bad has affected how I feel about myself. One friend used to tell me I’m on “the good side of plus-sized.” All it does is tell me that I’m overweight. In middle school, I felt like I had to prove to my friends that I was active and healthy. And even today, I worry over normal weight changes, all to try and avoid people sharing their “concerns” with my size. Discussing body image is difficult. What I have found is that being allowed to speak openly without judgment builds my self-confidence, because I feel that my voice is being heard. I am beginning to listen to my body and understand how it works. I hope to stop overanalyzing and build confidence — not through a number on the scale (体重秤), but through self-acceptance. 32. What does the author realize after talking to her best friend? A. Her friend truly understood her worries. B. She needed to lose weight immediately. C. Her self-image differed from others’ views. D. Her appearance was objectively unattractive. 33. How did her friend’s words “the good side of plus-sized” affect the author? A. It confirmed her fear of being overweight. B. It provided comfort about her appearance. C. It motivated her to exercise more regularly. D. It helped her to understand body positivity. 34. What is the main message of the passage? A. Social approval determines personal worth. B. Childhood experiences cannot be overcome. C. Weight loss should be the primary health goal. D. Self-acceptance matters more than appearance. 35. What is the best title for the passage? A. From Self-Doubt to Self-Acceptance B. The Pain of Growing Up Overweight C. How Others’ Words Shape Our Self-Image D. Why We Care Too Much About Appearance 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Soft skills are your personal characteristics displayed when you interact with others. They could be personality, intellectual or emotional traits (特征). If you are unsure of what your soft skills are, ask a few close friends or family members to describe you using three adjectives. 36 You can find lots of free resources online. Clarifying your set of soft skills is critical to effective professional development. Soft skills come naturally and are learned throughout your life. These are generally not job-specific. Hard skills, quite different from soft skills, are technical skills related to your job and industry and are usually learned through education and training. 37 Many employers may feel that soft skills are harder to teach, so they may give priority (优先权) to job candidates with strong soft skills. 38 First, determine what soft skills you want to improve. 39 For example, you could volunteer to take on new projects at work or take some online courses related to the soft skill you want to acquire. These goals can be added to your professional development plan. Check in with yourself regularly to track and measure your progress. 40 Let them know which soft skills you are working on and ask them for suggestions on how to improve them in the workplace. It is also helpful to work with a mentor or a career coach to help you improve your soft skills. They can provide you with constructive feedback, ideas and support. A. Then, set reasonable goals for improvement. B. Teamwork is one of the most important soft skills. C. They can be demonstrated by a certification or a degree. D. In her first math class, Mr. Carter wrote a series of expressions on the blackboard. While most of her classmates nodded and took notes, Lena felt as if she were listening to a “foreign language”. The symbols “x” and “y” danced before her eyes, and she couldn’t follow the steps Mr. Carter explained. The confusion only grew when she sat down to do her homework. For two hours she remained at her desk, staring at the textbook and the blank pages of her notebook. Every problem seemed unsolvable. She read the same question at least ten times, yet she still couldn’t work it out. Upset and ashamed, she never felt so stuck in a subject. Weeks passed, and Lena’s anxiety about math got worse. She was afraid to raise her hand in class, worried that her questions would sound stupid. One day, Mr. Carter randomly called on her to answer a question. Lena stood up, her face burning with embarrassment for she was totally clueless about the answer. “Even a primary student knows that!” a boy named Jax sneered (嘲讽) loudly. Lena bit her lip and sank back into her seat with her head hanging low. Soon the first math exam took place. It came as no surprise that Lena got a bright red “D” on her paper. Tears welled in her eyes as she balled up the paper and stuffed it into her bag. Seeing this, Mr. Carter asked Lena to stay after class. Instead of criticizing her, he said gently, “I notice you’ve been struggling, Lena. Math can be tough at first. Like learning to play a musical instrument, it requires the right method and consistent practice.” He told Lena that he had talked to Zoe, the top math student in the class, who agreed to help her. The next day, Mr. Carter rearranged the seats, and Zoe became Lena’s new deskmate. 注意:(1)续写词数应为150个左右;(2)请按如下格式在答题卡相应位置作答。 Each afternoon, the two girls sat side by side, diving into math together. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The results of the final math exam came out. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
