三、阅读理解
Good morning, everyone! My name is Kaspar and I’m a child-sized robot. I have black hair and always wear a baseball cap.
I am able to move my arms and head. I can also open and close my mouth and eyes. I can even show several basic emotions (情绪), such as happiness, sadness and surprise. For example, I smile when I am happy and I frown (皱眉) when I am sad.
My job is to help children with autism (自闭症) understand emotions and language and know how to get along with people. I am now working in a school for autistic children. I talk and play with the children for about ten minutes once a week. I often speak slowly to them so that they can better understand what I am saying. I like being touched by these children. However, if a child hits (打) me, I will hide my face in my hands and cry out, “Ouch! This hurts.” The child will then know it is wrong to hit others.
You might ask if I have really helped the children learn some social skills. The answer is “yes.” I remember a four-year-old girl in the school. She didn’t like being touched by others. She is now willing to hug everyone and has made some friends after playing with me for some time.
As a robot for autistic children, my greatest wish is to become more helpful to them. I believe that scientists will help make my wish come true in the future.

As a child, I was very afraid of darkness. Perhaps it was because things looked and sounded strange to me at night. A very soft sound would be much louder in the dark. 2 I would lie on my bed so that the “monster” would not find me.
3 Every morning, I took the school bus. The bus stop was near my home, so that was not a problem. However, all the buses were waiting along the street after school. I was afraid that I would get on the wrong bus and be taken to a place I had never been to!
Perhaps the worst fear (恐惧) I had as a child was that of not being liked or loved by others. 4
