So, I suggest creating a “Yangzhou cultural exploration” event online. People can share their stories. Also, we can invite experts to give lessons so that students can learn more about our hometown’s history and traditions. It is China’s first national forest park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (联合国教科文组织世界遗产地). People call it “the real Avatar mountains” because the movie Avatar got ideas from here. The park is famous for its more than 3,000 quartz sandstone pillars (石英砂岩峰柱). Some of them are over 200 meters tall. They look like huge stone trees growing towards the sky. Often, clouds and mist (云雾) wrap around the pillars, making the view look like a fairyland (仙境). Visitors can take the Bailong Elevator (百龙电梯) to get a bird’s-eye view. It is the world’s tallest outdoor elevator, built right on the side of a cliff (悬崖). The ride takes only 1 minute and 58 seconds, but it gives you an amazing view. Another popular place is the Glass Bridge on Tianmen Mountain. The bridge is made of glass, so you can see straight down to the valley 300 meters below. It was one of the most important milestones (里程碑) of trade and culture in world history, and the pioneer, Zhang Qian, could not be easily forgotten by history. He was a great diplomat (外交官), traveller and explorer in the Han Dynasty of China, remembered as “the first Chinese to open his eyes to see the world”. In 138 B.C., Zhang Qian was sent to the west of China for an alliance with the Yuezhi people to fight against the Xiongnu. He started his trip from Chang’an to Longxi. But unluckily, Zhang was caught by the Xiongnu people just as he left Han, and was held prisoner (囚犯) for ten years. Zhang finally managed to run away with some of his men and continued to travel west. When Zhang at last reached the Yuezhi, he was sad to find that they didn’t want to fight against the Xiongnu people. On the return journey, Zhang Qian and his men were caught again. It was not until 126 B.C. that they returned to Chang’an. Though Zhang hadn’t finished his task, he brought back first-hand information about Central Asia. The paths Zhang Qian explored later served as the highways connecting Europe, the Middle East, Mesopotamia, Central Asia, and East Asia. Commodities (商品) have been transported along this network of highways, which has been known as the “Silk Road” since the 19th century. Zhang Qian has been remembered as the great explorer that opened up a new era (时代) of cultural exchange between the East and the West. 1.What does the underlined word “alliance” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.A long journey to a faraway place. B.A secret plan to run away. C.An agreement to work together. D.An introduction to each other. 2.What is the result of Zhang Qian’s journey to the West? A.He reached an agreement with the Xiongnu. B.He sold many commodities and made money. C.He built a bridge between the East and the West. D.He made Han the most powerful country. 3.What kind of person is Zhang Qian? A.Careful and creative. B.Energetic and active. C.Proud and open-minded. D.Brave and strong-minded. 4.What is the best title for the passage? A.Zhang Qian and the Silk Road B.Zhang Qian and the Yuezhi People C.The Importance of the Silk Road D.The History of the Han Dynasty 5.The writer would most probably talk about ________ after Paragraph 4. A.how the Xiongnu people were beaten back B.why people did business along the Silk Road C.what Zhang Qian did in the rest of his lifetime D.how the Silk Road made a difference to the cultural exchange 【答案】1.C 2.C 3.D 4.A 5.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了汉代外交家、探险家张骞出使西域、开辟丝绸之路的历史事迹,突出了他坚韧不拔的精神及其对东西方文化交流的深远影响。 1.第二段指出出使任务:“In 138 B.C., Zhang Qian was sent to the west of China for an alliance with the Yuezhi people to fight against the Xiongnu.”,这里说明张骞被派往中国西部与月氏人结成“alliance”来对抗匈奴,由此可推测“alliance”意思是共同合作的协议,即“An agreement to work together”。 2.第四段“The paths Zhang Qian explored later served as the highways... Zhang Qian has been remembered as the great explorer that opened up a new era of cultural exchange between the East and the West.” When I was a little girl, my family lived in an old house near a river in the town. At that time, the river was the most terrible place in my memory. The water was black and smelly, because many factories poured waste water into it. People threw rubbish along the river bank. There were no trees or flowers, only dirty plastic bags and waste everywhere. I never played near the river, and my parents always told me to stay away from it. Last summer, I came back to my hometown after 10 years away. I was completely shocked when I walked past the river. The black smelly water has gone. Instead, the river is clean and clear, with small fish swimming in it. The dirty river bank has become a beautiful riverside park. There are tall trees, colourful flowers and green grass everywhere. People walk along the river, children play on the grass, and some elderly people fish by the river. I met my old neighbour Aunt Li there. She told me that the government started to clean the river 8 years ago. They closed the polluting factories along the river, cleaned up the waste, and planted lots of trees and flowers. They also set up rules to stop people from throwing rubbish into the river. “Many people didn’t believe the river could become clean at first,” Aunt Li said. “But we all worked together. Now the river is our favourite place to relax. The changes are really amazing!” I sat on a bench in the park, watching the peaceful river and the smiling people around me. I realized that the change of the river is not just about the environment. It shows that people have learned to respect and protect nature. And only by working together can we make our hometown a better place to live. 1.What was the river like when the writer was a little girl? A.Clean and clear. B.Black and smelly. C.Quiet and peaceful. D.Beautiful and interesting. 2.Why did the government take action to change the river? A.To develop tourism along the river. B.To provide more jobs for local people. C.To improve the environment and people’s living conditions. D.To build more houses along the river bank. 3.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean? A.The river has become clean, but people still don’t like it. B.The environmental change has also changed people’s ideas about nature. C.The only thing that has changed is the look of the river. D.People have learned that it’s impossible to change the nature. 4.What can we learn from the story? A.It’s easy to clean a polluted river. B.Only the government can change the environment. C.Working together can make great changes happen. D.We should never come back to our old hometown. 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文通过作者的亲身经历,对比了家乡河流过去和现在的巨大变化,讲述了政府和居民共同治理污染、改善环境的故事。 1.根据文章第一段第三句:“The water was black and smelly, because many factories poured waste water into it.”,说明许多工厂向里面排放废水了,所以水是又黑又臭的。 2.过去:河流可怕、恶臭,人们远离它。现在:河流清澈,变成了公园,人们在那里散步、放松。说明了政府治理的核心目的是改善环境和居民生活条件。 3.文章最后一自然段提到:“I realized that the change of the river is not just about the environment. It shows that people have learned to respect and protect nature.”,提到了河流的变化不仅仅是环境层面的,这表明人们已经学会了尊重和保护自然。 4.文章最后一句也总结道:“And only by working together can we make our hometown a better place to live.”,说明了只有共同努力,我们才能让家乡变得更美好。 The sun was setting behind the hills when Sun Shaoping got off the bus. He stood at the entrance of his village, unable to believe his eyes. It had been 5 years since he left his hometown to work in the city. The last time he came back, the road into the village was narrow and muddy. His shoes were covered with mud after just a few steps. But now, a wide paved road stretched from the main road all the way to the centre of the village. On both sides of the road, there were tall poplar trees, and street lamps stood every 100 metres. ______ He remembered that most families lived in cave houses dug into the hills. Some of the houses were so old that they leaked when it rained. But now, rows of new houses with red roofs and white walls had been built along the road. Many houses had solar water heaters on the roofs, and some even had small gardens in front of the doors. As he walked into the village, he saw a big square in the centre. There was a basketball court, a fitness area and a small library. Some young men were playing basketball, and a group of elderly people were playing chess under a big tree. He met an old man who was his primary school teacher. The teacher told him that the village had built a new primary school, and all the children could go to school for free. The teacher also told him that the village had set up a farmers’ cooperative. They grew apples on the hills, and sold them to big cities through the internet. Many young people who used to work in the city had come back to start their own businesses. Shaoping walked around the village until it got dark. He looked at the bright street lamps and the warm lights from the houses.  He had always thought that the city was the only place to have a good life. But now he realized that his hometown was also full of hope and chances. 节选自英文改写版《平凡的世界》 1.Which is the correct order of the following events? ① Shaoping saw the new village square and learned that a primary school had been built. ② Shaoping got off the bus at the village entrance. ③ Shaoping learned about the farmers’ cooperative from his teacher. ④ Shaoping found the road into the village had changed a lot. C.Because he saw the great changes and new chances in his hometown. D.Because he didn’t want to work in the city any more. 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文主要介绍了孙少平时隔5年后回到家乡,看到了村庄发生的翻天覆地的变化。 1.第一段“Sun Shaoping got off the bus. He stood at the entrance of his village”对应了②讲述的事件,以此可以排除选项C和D,第二段关键信息“the road … was narrow and muddy. … But now, a wide paved road …”对应④讲述的事件,第四段“As he walked into the village, he saw a big square in the centre. …”和“The teacher told him that the village had built a new primary school,”对应了①讲述的事件,第五段“The teacher also told him that the village had set up a farmers’ cooperative.” 3. 第五段“The teacher also told him … set up a farmers’ cooperative. They grew apples on the hills, and sold them to big cities through the internet.” Villages in China have enjoyed their development in a digital (数字的) way in recent years. With the help of digital technology, villagers are living an easier and happier life. Farming in the past was not an easy job. Farmers worked hard all year round. At the same time, they usually found it difficult to solve problems like plant diseases and pests (害虫). Now, there have been big changes in farming. For example, in Dayi County, Sichuan Province, AI machines help local farmers know when and how to fertilize (施肥于) fields and kill pests. In this way, they make farmers work more easily with less time and energy. Thanks to the Internet, a new business called rural e-commerce (乡村电子商务) grows. Selling fresh fruit and vegetables to cities is faster. The business also helps villagers live a digital life. They can get many things done on different kinds of apps. They can also use drones to help with their farm work. More visitors travel in beautiful villages because of digital technology. A good example is Huacheng Town, Guangdong Province. Visitors can know where to park their cars for free, when to book a ticket easily and what to buy online. They can also enjoy the view of nearly every part of the town by using VR. 1.According to Paragraph 2, we know AI machines can help farmers ________. A.tell where to park the cars B.teach how to buy a ticket online C.explain the importance of villages D.show digital technology helps develop tourism 4.What is the best title of this passage? A.The hard life of villagers. B.Tourism in villages. C.The digital technology in villages. D.A new business in villages. 【答案】1.D 2.A 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了数字技术如何从农业、电商、旅游三个方面改变中国乡村,让村民的生活更便捷、更幸福。 1.第二段“In this way, they make farmers work more easily with less time and energy.” 3.第四段开头“More visitors travel in beautiful villages because of digital technology.” When I was in Grade 7, I learnt about the Louvre Museum in my art lesson. Our teacher showed us a photo of the Mona Lisa, and told us a lot of stories about the famous museum in Paris. I was very interested in it, but I never thought I could visit it one day, because my family could not afford a trip to France. Last year, our art teacher told us that the Louvre Museum had a free online tour on its official website. I was so excited that I ran home after school and turned on my computer right away. I found the online tour page easily, and started my amazing trip. The online tour was perfect. I could “walk” through every hall of the museum freely, just like I was there in person. I could zoom in on every painting and sculpture to see the smallest details, which I could never do in a real museum with crowds of people. There were also clear English introductions for every artwork, so I could learn about the history and stories behind them. I spent over 3 hours in the online tour, and I even forgot to have dinner. I saw the Mona Lisa, of course. Through the screen, I could see the smile on her face clearly. I also saw the famous sculpture Venus de Milo, and many other great works of art. I took a lot of screenshots of my favourite artworks, and put them in my art notebook. That online tour not only let me see the amazing artworks in the Louvre, but also opened a new world for me. I learnt that the Internet can help us achieve our dreams, even if we can not travel far away. Now, I often take online tours of different museums around the world in my free time. Every online tour is a new adventure, and I can always learn something new. 1.Why did the writer never think she could visit the Louvre Museum at first? A.Because she was not interested in art at all. B.Because her family could not afford the trip to France. C.Because she was too young to travel abroad alone. D.Because the museum was not open to foreign visitors. 2.What did the writer do during her online tour of the Louvre? A.She talked with the tour guide in Paris through live video. B.She took a lot of photos of the museum with her camera. C.She zoomed in on the artworks to see the details clearly. D.She bought some artworks from the museum’s online shop. 3.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean? A.The online tour made the writer realize the internet can help make dreams come true. B.The writer has decided to travel to France to visit the Louvre in person. C.The writer only learnt about art from the online tour. D.The online tour was not as good as the real trip to the museum. 4.What can we learn from the writer’s story? A.Online tours are always better than on-site trips. B.We can learn new things and achieve dreams through the internet. C.It is impossible to learn about art through a computer screen. D.Only rich people can visit famous museums around the world. 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.B 【导语】本文主要介绍了作者通过网络参观卢浮宫博物馆的经历。   1.根据第一段“I was very interested in it, but I never thought I could visit it one day, because my family could not afford a trip to France.”可知,作者一开始从未想过参观卢浮宫博物馆,是因为她的家人负担不起去法国的旅行。 2.根据第三段“I could zoom in on every painting and sculpture to see the smallest details, which I could never do in a real museum with crowds of people.”可知,在网上参观卢浮宫时把艺术品放大,以便清楚地看到细节。 3.根据最后一段“That online tour not only let me see the amazing artworks in the Louvre, but also opened a new world for me. With the help of 3D technology, VR and live streaming, people can now “visit” places of interest, museums and natural wonders from all over the world, just by using a phone or a computer. For many cultural sites, online travel is not just a new way for people to visit them, but also an important way to protect them. Many ancient sites, such as the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang and Machu Picchu in Peru, are easily damaged by too many visitors. The CO2 from visitors’ breath, the touch of hands and even the light from cameras can hurt the ancient paintings and buildings. Online travel solves this problem perfectly. It allows people to see the sites clearly without entering them, which greatly reduces the number of on-site visitors and protects the cultural relics. What’s more, online travel makes cultural sites available to more people. For the disabled, the elderly or people who don’t have enough money to travel, online travel gives them the chance to see the world. It also helps spread local culture to every corner of the world. A small village with beautiful scenery or special traditions can be known by millions of people through an online tour, which can also help develop the local tourism. Now, more and more museums and scenic spots are developing their own online tour services. Online travel has become an important part of the tourism industry, and it will continue to bring new surprises to people in the future. 1.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2? A.How online travel helps protect ancient cultural sites. B.How to take an online tour of the Mogao Caves. C.The disadvantages of on-site travel to cultural sites. D.The traditional ways to protect ancient cultural relics. 2.What does the underlined word “damaged” in Paragraph 2 probably mean in Chinese? A.保护 B.修复 C.损坏 D.发现 3.What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this article? A.To encourage people to give up on-site travel completely. B.To introduce the development and advantages of online travel. C.To teach people how to take a perfect online tour at home. D.To show the differences between online travel and on-site travel. 4.Which of the following is the best title for the article? A.The Long History of Online Travel B.How to Protect Ancient Cultural Sites C.See the World With One Click D.The Future of the Global Tourism Industry 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文主要介绍了在线旅游。 1.根据第二段“For many cultural sites, online travel is not just a new way for people to visit them, but also an important way to protect them.”可知,本段主要介绍了在线旅游如何帮助保护古代文化遗址。 2.根据第二段“The CO2 from visitors’ breath, the touch of hands and even the light from cameras can hurt the ancient paintings and buildings.”可知,许多古代遗址很容易被太多的游客破坏,damaged意为“损坏”。 3.根据最后一段“Now, more and more museums and scenic spots … it will continue to bring new surprises to people in the future.”及上文对在线旅游的介绍可知,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是介绍在线旅游的发展和优势。 4.阅读全文可知,本文主要介绍了在线旅游,展现了互联网的优势,选项C“一键看世界”最适合作为文章标题。 Many tourism platforms (平台) in China have used AI technologies, while some provinces and cities have designed their own AI tourism service (服务) platforms with special features. On some popular tourism platforms, tourists can give simple instructions, such as asking about must-visit attractions for a three-day trip to Shanghai. AI usually gives helpful answers within minutes. Mr Liang, CEO of a travel company, said, “AI solves 80% of users’ questions in minutes, cutting trip-planning time from 9 hours to 6.6 hours.” Guizhou and Shanghai have introduced AI assistants (助手) for travellers. Guizhou’s “Huang Xiao Xi”, a digital guide in traditional clothing, creates travel plans in just a few seconds. “Hu Xiao You”, a smart tourism system used in Shanghai, provides real-time updates (更新) on traffic at tourist sites, public transport, nearby shops, and even toilet locations. Museums are also using AI. Wearable smart guides provide guiding tours at a lower cost than human guides. They also allow visitors to change the speed of introductions according to their own choice, With new tools like virtual reality (VR,虚拟现实), augmented reality (AR,增强现实), and three-D technology, users can “talk” to historical figures (人物), “communicate” with cultural relics, and watch ancient paintings come to life. These high-tech methods break down the distance between visitors and cultural heritage (遗产), making ancient history easier to understand and remember. Gan Chunhui, a researcher in Shanghai, believes AI brings new ways of working in tourism. “Instead of taking the place of traditional jobs, China makes use of technology to breathe new life into these roles,” Gan said. “For tourists, this means more personalized and convenient trips that deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. For local communities, AI helps keep valuable heritage alive without changing the natural beauty of historical sites,” 1.What can AI tourism platforms mainly do according to Paragraph 1? A.Deal with hotel booking services. B.Provide travel suggestions. C.Set up free travel platforms. D.Answer questions from foreigners. 2.How does Paragraph 3 support its main idea? A.By giving examples of AI tools. B.By showing different opinions. C.By discussing difficulties we meet. D.By discussing tourism in different times. 3.What can be inferred (推断) about AI in museums from the article? A.It makes visiting more expensive. B.It works faster than human guides. C.It provides lively visiting experiences. D.It shows more pictures than real objects. 4.What is Gan Chunhui’s opinion about AI in tourism? A.AI will finally take the place of traditional jobs. Yangzhou is in the eastern part of Jiangsu Province, an ancient city. There are lots of places of interest. At first, we visited the Slender West Lake (瘦西湖), one of the most famous parks in China. When we went boating, we saw many fish swimming and beautiful flowers in the sun. It just took my breath away. I couldn’t help picking a flower, but my father said it was bad to hurt the flowers. Besides, the Slender West Lake is famous for the different kinds of fantastic ancient buildings. We walked along the Wuting Bridge and climbed the ancient tower! Later we went shopping and bought a few silk scarves for our friends in the street market. At noon we tried the delicious special food—huaiyangcai. After that, we took part in some activities. For some people, it’s a short, funny limerick (五行打油诗). For others, it might be a famous love sonnet (十四行诗) written by William Shakespeare. Some poems describe the beauty of nature, and some discuss questions about family. There are long epic (史诗) poems that tell of heroes and monsters. On the other hand, there are Chinese jueju (绝句), which have just four lines. When it comes to poetry, there is something for everybody. Some people say reading a poem is better than diving into a normal story. What do you think? Yes—poems are fun to learn and recite (背诵) The great thing about poems is that they come in all shapes and sizes. Short poems are perfect for when you don’t have much time—certainly not enough time to read a whole book. With a few words, poetry can be beautiful, thoughtful and influential. Poems are great because you can memorize them and share them with your friends; it’s harder to do that with a story. Poems can be song lyrics (歌词) too—you could learn one by heart and recite it on the way to school. A book of poems gives you lots of themes all in one place, offering you much more than just one story. No—you can get lost in a story for days. It’s because poems are mostly so short that they are not as good as stories. It’s much more enjoyable to curl (蜷缩) up with a good book, to keep coming back to it, chapter after chapter, rather than read a poem that you might have forgotten by tomorrow. It’s more enjoyable to really get to know the characters of a story and go on a journey with them. Besides, poems can be quite hard to understand, especially old ones that were written centuries ago. Novels usually have more information about characters and settings (背景), which means you get to step into a whole new world and escape from reality. You also find out what happens in the end, while with some poems you are left wondering what they really mean. 1.Which is TRUE about the types of poems? A.Limericks are funny poems with three lines. B.Love sonnets describe the beauty of nature. C.Epic poems discuss questions about family. D.Jueju are short poems appearing in China. 2.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1 mean? A.Everybody loves reading poems. B.People have similar interest in poems. C.Poetry can meet different people’s tastes. D.Poetry influences people in the same way. 3.Who do you think prefers stories to poems? A.Amy: I like short and beautiful words. B.Lily: I want to know more about the characters. C.Millie: I have a strong interest in song lyrics. D.Simon: I want to recite what I read in a short time. 4.What’s the best title for the passage? A.Why We Should All Memorize Poems B.Short and Sweet: The Art of Poetry C.Poems VS Stories: Which One Wins? D.A Journey Through Poems and Novels 5.Where is the passage probably taken from? A.A literature magazine. B.A sports website. C.A science fiction. D.A book review. 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.B 4.C 5.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讨论了诗歌和故事的不同特点,以及不同人对于诗歌和故事的偏好。文章首先介绍了诗歌的多样性,然后分别阐述了喜欢诗歌和喜欢故事的理由,最后引发读者思考诗歌和故事哪个更胜一筹。 1.根据“On the other hand, there are Chinese jueju (绝句), which have just four lines.”可知,绝句是中国出现的短诗,只有四行。所以D选项“绝句是中国出现的短诗”正确。 2.第一段中提到“Some poems describe the beauty of nature, and some discuss questions about family. When his class had to read a book and give a report, he felt nervous. He chose a book called The Little Prince because his mother had read it to him when he was young. As he read the book again, something changed. He began to understand the story in a new way. The little prince traveled from planet to planet, meeting strange adults who only cared about numbers, power, and rules. David realized that sometimes he felt like the little prince—lonely in a world that seemed hard to understand. One evening, his mother asked him what he thought about the book. “The fox told the prince that what makes something special is the time you spend on it,” David said. “I never thought about that before.” His mother smiled. “Maybe you can share that idea in your report.” On the day of the report, David stood in front of the class. His hands were shaking, but he began to speak. He talked about how the little prince learned that friendship takes time and care. He mentioned that the prince’s rose became special because he watered her, protected her, and loved her. “The same is true for us,” David said. “The people we care about become special because of the time we give them.” When he finished, the class clapped. His teacher said, “David, that was wonderful. You really understood the heart of the story.” After that, David felt more confident. He started talking to classmates about books they liked. That’s exactly what happened when a famous Chinese novel was turned into an English-language opera. The novel, written over two hundred years ago, tells the story of a large family and its rise and fall. It has hundreds of characters, but the opera writer decided to focus on only a few main characters. By doing this, he made the story easier for international audiences to understand. The art director used colors and stage designs to help express the characters’ personalities. For example, one character who is gentle and quiet was often shown with soft blue light and flowing water on stage. The music mixed traditional Chinese instruments with Western orchestra sounds. I was the third of five sons. My childhood was very happy. I liked going to school and learning new things. But I used to daydream about going to sea. One day, Father asked, “Lemuel, have you thought about your future? I think you would be a good doctor.” I wanted to please him, so I said, “Yes, Father. I’ll go to Cambridge University and study medicine.” But as I spoke I was thinking, “At university I can also learn things that will be useful to a sailor.” After several years of study, I became a doctor. Not long after that, I asked my sweetheart, Mary, to marry me. Before long, we had children, a boy and a girl. They gave us great joy. I enjoyed being a doctor for the first few years. But then I became bored, and ideas of travel filled my mind. I imagined going to far-off places and seeing wonderful new things. “Mary,” I said one day, “I need more adventure in my life. The captain of a ship about to sail has offered me a job as the ship's doctor. I don’t know how long the journey will take, but I promise I will return. And when I do, I’ll tell you and the children all about my adventures.” So in 1699, I set sail on the Antelope from Bristol. That city is a large and very old port (港口城市) in the southwest of England. The captain was a good man and had sailed a great deal! “Welcome aboard, Doctor Gulliver,” he said. “First we’ll be sailing down the Atlantic Ocean and around the coast of Africa. Then we’ll sail through the Indian Ocean to the South Seas.” Our journey went well until one morning, somewhere near Tasmania in the South Pacific Ocean. “I don’t like the look of those clouds,” the captain said. “I think a storm is coming.” Within an hour, a big storm began. The sea rose in great, angry waves much taller than the Antelope. The wind, now as strong as a hurricane, made a terrible sound. “The wind is blowing the ship off course!” shouted the captain. “Look out!” —Adapted from Gulliver’s Travels 1.What does “Antelope” refer to in the text? It tells the story of a young girl named Alice, who follows a rabbit entering a magical world called Wonderland: she has many experiences which seem to change the rules of reasoning or common sense. The popularity of the book comes from its imagination, interesting story, and art work. The writer of the book is Lewis Carroll. In fact, Lewis Carroll was not the writer’s real name. His real name was Charles Dodgson. One day, he took a boat ride down the Thames River to have a picnic with three little girls who were friends of the family. To keep them entertained on the ride, he told them a story in which Alice, the middle child, was the main character. They enjoyed the story very much. Charles later wrote the story down under the name Alice’s Adventures Under Ground and gave it to Alice as a Christmas present. Later, he gave a copy to his friend George MacDonald. George read it to his children and they loved it. George suggested to Charles that he make a book from his story. Charles then wrote more parts to the story until it was around 35,000 words. It was first printed in 1866, with art work by John Tenniel, under the name Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book was an immediate success. One of its first fans was Queen Victoria. She immediately requested (要求) a collection of all of Lewis Carroll’s works. She was surprised to find that they included many works on math. In fact, Charles Dodgson was a highly respected mathematician (数学家). This can be seen in many puzzles and plays on reasoning that appear in his books and poems. Since the story was first printed, it has kept selling up to the present day. It has been translated into over fifty languages and has had several movies based on it. The story is even mentioned in the popular 1999 film The Matrix by the character Morpheus. 1.The passage is mainly about ________. A.Charles’ family life B.a girl’s adventurous experience C.a magical world called wonderland D.the birth of a book and its lasting influences 2.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage? A.The writer published his works under his real name. B.The character Alice was taken from George’s child. C.John contributed partly to the popularity of the book. D.Charles offered a copy to George for advice. 3.We can learn from the passage that ________. A.Queen Victoria asked for a few of Charles’ writings B.Charles had a gift for reasoning and writing C.Charles had his works translated into fifty languages D.The Matrix was based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland 4.Which of the following is the right order of the passage? a. Charles gave his story to Alice as a Christmas present.   b. Charles had a picnic with three little girls on the Thames. c. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was first printed in 1866.   d. D.People have learned that it’s impossible to change the nature. 4.What can we learn from the story? A.It’s easy to clean a polluted river. B.Only the government can change the environment. C.Working together can make great changes happen. D.We should never come back to our old hometown. The sun was setting behind the hills when Sun Shaoping got off the bus. Villages in China have enjoyed their development in a digital (数字的) way in recent years. Online travel, also known as virtual travel, has developed rapidly around the world in recent years. A.The Long History of Online Travel B.How to Protect Ancient Cultural Sites C.See the World With One Click D.The Future of the Global Tourism Industry Many tourism platforms (平台) in China have used AI technologies, while some provinces and cities have designed their own AI tourism service (服务) platforms with special features. David was a shy boy who found it hard to make friends. He found that sharing stories made it easier to connect with others. By the end of the school year, he had made several good friends. He often thought of the little prince and smiled. Have you ever read a book and imagined the characters speaking in a different language? That’s exactly what happened when a famous Chinese novel was turned into an English-language opera. The novel, written over two hundred years ago, tells the story of a large family and its rise and fall. It has hundreds of characters, but the opera writer decided to focus on only a few main characters. By doing this, he made the story easier for international audiences to understand. The art director used colors and stage designs to help express the characters’ personalities. For example, one character who is gentle and quiet was often shown with soft blue light and flowing water on stage. The music mixed traditional Chinese instruments with Western orchestra sounds. The creators believed it was important to share Chinese stories with the world. One of them said in an interview, “This story belongs to everyone. In 1674, I was born on my father’s small farm in Nottinghamshire, England. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of the most loved children’s books of all time, and many adults enjoy it as well.
