A.Continued greenhouse gas emissions. B.The causes and effects of global warming. C.A dramatic change in the global climate. D.The “natural” greenhouse effect. 答案:B 2.What’s the author’s purpose in writing this text? A.To show us the bad effects of global warming. B.To explain the meaning of “carbon footprint”. C.To tell us to prevent disasters from happening. D.To call on us to do our bit to protect our planet. 1.Which of the following is not a proof of a dramatic change in the global climate? A.A warming ocean and atmosphere. B.Melting ice. C.Rising sea levels. D.A large population. 2.What does the case of the polar bear show? A.Food shortage becomes a major threat to creatures. B.Human activities affect the survival of polar bears. C.The increase in temperature has an effect on Earth’s ecology. D.The hunting behaviour of mankind leads to the sharp decrease of animals. 3.In the “natural” greenhouse effect, how is heat released back into space? A.In short wave form. B.At longer wave lengths. C.In the form of methane. D.In the form of carbon dioxide. 4.What is the author’s attitude towards “greenhouse effect”? A.It benefits humans. B.It does harm to humans. C.It has both good and bad sides. D.Human beings should eliminate it. 如本文第三段中,根据细节信息“Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere ... to rise quickly”可知,作者陈述了温室效应的利与弊,从而可以判断答案。 5.Which of the following is not mentioned to deal with global warming? A.People do not use plastic bags in their daily life. B.Governments make policies and take measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. C.People change inappropriate lifestyles. D.People educate others about global warming, along with its causes and impacts. 1.Why is the “natural” greenhouse effect important and necessary? Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap some of the heat, keeping Earth’s climate warm and habitable. Without this process, Earth could not sustain life.  2.Do you think climate change is the result of human activities?Give your reasons. Yes, humans burn fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and oil to produce energy, which give off greenhouse gases that trap heat from the sun and therefore warm the Earth. So, the growth of the greenhouse gases actually comes as a result of things we do every day and the way we produce and use energy.  3.As a student, what should you do to deal with climate change? I will try going to school by bike or on foot to reduce the “carbon emissions”. 1.According to the scientists who found its dead body, all that remained of the polar bear was “skin and bones”. 2.When people produce huge amounts of extra greenhouse gases by burning fossil fuels, more heat energy is trapped in the atmosphere and causes Earth’s surface temperature to rise quickly. 提能训练/完成句子 ①We should take action to protect our environment before our earth is reduced to skin and bones. ②The little bird was trapped in the net, but with the help of kind⁃hearted people, it was eventually freed. Experts claimed that low sea⁃ice levels caused by climate change meant the bear could not hunt seals as before, so it had to travel greater distances in order to find food. 赏析:“that low ... find food”为that 引导的宾语从句。在宾语从句中,“caused by climate change”为过去分词短语作后置定语,修饰low sea⁃ice levels;“the bear ... as before”为省略了引导词that的宾语从句。 We all believe that the earth, which is surrounded by clear rivers and green mountains, will always be a beautiful home for us to cherish and protect with our efforts. There is strong and comprehensive evidence ..., not only causing serious damage, but also costing human lives ... In fact, news reports are frequently broadcast about extreme rainstorms and heatwaves causing deaths and economic losses. 提能训练/完成句子 ①By burning tree branches, pine needles, and pine cones, many people not only warm their houses but also improve the smell in the house. ②In fact, we all know that the earth is our home, and if we don’t take measures to protect the environment, what awaits us in the future will be a world full of pollution and destruction. So what will you do to help? What’s really green? Most of us are aware that we must take care of the environment, and the majority of us take steps to save energy and reduce waste and pollution. But recently, some “green truths” have been shown to be only half true, or even completely false. Here are some common ones.Which are really green? ?Paper shopping bags are better than plastic ones. Plastic bags cause litter and are a danger to wild animals, which mistake them for food. It takes hundreds of years for plastic to break down, but much less time for paper. Because of this, people think paper bags are the better environmental choice. However, making a paper bag uses four times as much energy as making a plastic bag and up to three times the amount of water. The process also produces more greenhouse gases. In fact, both kinds of bags are bad for the environment. So, take a reusable bag with you when you go shopping. ?When you turn off a device, it stops using power. When we turn off a device, such as television, it goes into stand⁃by mode. Devices in this mode still use power, and older devices in stand⁃by mode can use even more. electricity continues to leak from the device, even when it is turned “off”. To make sure your appliance is in fact off, remove the plug from its power supply.  ?Eating local food is good for the environment. It seems like common sense:eating local food should be better for the environment, because it does not need to be transported long distances and kept cold during transport. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. produces most of the greenhouse gases. In some cases, and produced more greenhouse gases than produce grown a long way away — even taking into account its transport.  ?It’s better to take a shower than a bath. It depends on how long you spend in the shower and how large your bath is. If you spend more than eight minutes in a shower, you’ll use as much water as in a bath — about 50 litres of water. Therefore, the key is to keep your shower time as short as possible. Environmental awareness is now part of daily life. But it’s worth checking common ideas and opinions to see what’s really green. [阅读理解] 1.What is the author’s suggestion when you go shopping? A.Taking a plastic bag. B.Using a paper bag. C.Carrying a reusable bag. D.Putting your purchases in pockets. 2.What should you do to save energy when leaving your home? A.Turn off a device. B.Remove the plug from its power supply. C.Remove the device from the house. D.Leave the device on. 3.What can you do to become truly green? A.Take a shower rather than a bath. B.Share your opinions with people around you. C.Change your attitude to environmental protection. D.Check your environmental ideas often and see if they are truly green. 句② 本句使用了强调句型,此处强调了句子的主语 “the production of food, not its transport”。 句③ might have done sth.
