参考范文:
Dear Jim,
I'm pleased that you're coming to tour in China.
I suggest that you begin from Beijing, and I'll show you around. Tianjin will be your next stop. After that, you can go to Shanghai, where you can stay for a week. You can take highspeed trains to both cities.By the way, summer in these cities is hot and rainy, so take summer wear plus an umbrella with you.
Looking forward to your arrival.
Yours,
Li Hua

Though traveling is not a big deal for me today, before my trip to the mountains, I used to be a homebody. I had friends to hang out with, several hobbies, and I felt completely comfortable spending weeks or even months in my hometown — or sometimes even on my block — without going anywhere. All my demands of traveling around the world were satisfied by the Discovery and National Geographic channels, and I seriously thought there was no difference between seeing something on TV and with my own eyes.
The situation changed when one day David, my best friend who was always full of crazy ideas, walked into my room and declared his dislike for civilization. I will not describe how he managed to persuade me to join him on his journey to the Rocky Mountains. This was my first time in the mountains, so I was turning my head in all directions. Unfortunately, the weather was foggy most of the time, and the higher we got into the mountains, the worse we saw the scenery around us.
Even despite this fact, I still enjoyed the hike — I felt like I was that host whose show I used to watch with excitement: out in the wild, my backpack stuffed with food and bottles of water, a flashlight and a knife at my side. On the first day, we were making our way along the foothills; but the next day, we started to climb on one of the peaks. Though it was not that steep and high, I was still excited. I regularly walked fast, and because of that, I ran out of energy long before we got to the top; David, on the other hand, was more wellpaced.
When we finally got to the top, nothing had changed. The same fog was covering the surroundings, and even though I was filled with positive emotions, I felt disappointed, because I counted on seeing the view from above and perhaps being able to take some photos.

参考范文:
We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back. As the fog began to lift slightly, we caught a glimpse of the breathtaking landscape that had been hidden from us. The sight of the scenery below and the distant peaks was more than I could have imagined. The reality of the mountains was far more impressive and aweinspiring than any TV show could convey. It was not until then that I realized that the world was much bigger and more magnificent than I could have imagined.
Seeing all this scenery with my own eyes was truly an eyeopening experience for me. The fresh air, the sounds of nature, and the challenge of the climb all contributed to a sense of adventure and discovery that I had never felt before. It was then that I understood the difference between experiencing something through a screen and immersing oneself in it. The disappointment of the foggy view was replaced by the satisfaction of having stepped out of my comfort zone and into the unknown. This trip was not just a physical journey; it was a personal one that changed my perspective on life and the world around me.
二、阅读拓展训练
Recently, my husband and three kids were playing in Mediterranean (地中海), swimming and floating in the pictureperfect sea. It was ridiculously beautiful in Majorca, Spain. The way the sun danced across the water and how the blue horizon was dotted with storybook sailboats were such beautiful scenes.
My husband and I always dreamed about taking our kids on a trip around the world. It was one of the things we talked at length about. When we imagined our life with the children, we hoped we would have.
Fourteen years later, we had three boys who were growing up faster by the day. It was time to make_good_on those plans. We renewed our passports, and then packed our bags. We showed our kids the world. It was about experiencing the dozens of flights and trains and taxis together. We showed them how wonderful, how diverse, and how fascinating the world is. We wanted them to learn all that we had learned ourselves, through our own travels.
But there was something more than that: What we really wanted is to slow down time. We wanted the days to last a bit longer, and the weeks to take their time. The years with our children are going too fast. We wanted to put the brakes on our busy lives for a year, and just be with our kids. We wanted a break from the daily morning routine of making lunches, eating breakfast and going out the door in time for school. We needed family time out.
It was the wonderful two months in Europe, full of incredible moments. When we look back at our lives, I know we'll be glad we did it. I know we'll be happy that this is a chapter of the story of our family.
