The 3D animated movie Tea Pets was released in China on July 21 and fired people's enthusiasm for learning more about the increasingly popular tea pets — porcelain figures placed on tea trays. The following are some typical tea pets with various forms and shapes.
Pi Xiu
Tea pets in the form of Pi Xiu — a mythical animal similar to a Chinese unicorn — are very popular among businessmen. In traditional Chinese culture, Pi Xiu, the ninth son of a dragon, can bring fortune to people. It only takes money as food and never lets it out. Moreover, it is believed that Pi Xiu can protect a house from evil spirits.
Three-legged toad
In Chinese myths, three-legged toads spit money from their mouth and help the poor. Thus, it has been considered a lucky animal for a long time in Chinese culture. If you're a fan of Harry Potter series, this little toad might be a good reminder of Hogwarts and magic.
Little foot with a spider
In the shape of a little fat foot with a spider on it, this tea pet might look strange to non-Chinese speakers. In the Chinese language, spider is zhi zhu and foot is zu.When the two pronunciations are combined, it would be a homophone (同音字) for “satisfied” in Chinese. It is designed to remind people of having a satisfied attitude towards life and being grateful for every little gain.
The best way to raise a tea pet is to brush it with the fresh tea you are drinking.Only use one kind of tea to pour on a tea pet, rather than many kinds.Oolong, such as Tie Guanyin, and green tea are better choices to raise a tea pet apart from Pu'er tea.

The classical gardens of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, date back to the 6th century BCE when the city was founded as the capital of the Wu Kingdom.Inspired by these royal hunting gardens built by the King of the State of Wu, private gardens began emerging around the 4th
century and finally reached the top in the 18th century.
Today, more than 50 of these gardens are still in existence, nine of which are regarded as the finest models of Chinese “Mountain and Water” gardens. The earliest of these, the Canglang Pavilion, was built in the early 11th century on the site of an earlier, destroyed garden.Designed and built under the influence of the unconstrained (不受约束的) poetic freehand style originally seen in traditional Chinese landscape paintings, they are noted for their excellent connection of skillful techniques, artistic elegance and rich cultural implications. These gardens lend insight into how ancient Chinese constructors harmonized conceptions of aestheticism (唯美主义) in the culture of reclusion (隐居) within an urban living environment.
Garden masters from each dynasty adapted various techniques to artfully model nature by skillfully adapting and using only the physical space available to them.Limited to the space within a single residence, classical Suzhou gardens are intended to be a microcosm of the natural world, incorporating basic elements such as water, stones, plants, and various types of buildings of literary and poetic significance.
These excellent gardens are a proof to the superior craftsmanship of the garden masters of the time. These unique designs that have been inspired but are not limited by concepts of nature have had great influence on the development of both Eastern and Western garden art. These garden groups of buildings, rock formations, calligraphy, furniture, and decorative artistic pieces serve us showcases of the artistic achievements of the East Yangtze Delta region; they are basically the personification of the traditional Chinese culture.

Culture often refers to things like food, holidays, clothing, and music, but it also goes much deeper than that.__8__ So when we meet people from different backgrounds, we can sometimes find that there are big differences in how we see the world, even if we speak the same language.
One of the best ways to understand others' cultures is to first examine your own.Do you take your shoes off when you go inside?__9__ In Japan, you would never go inside without swapping your outdoor shoes for slippers, whereas in the US, many people don't bother taking their shoes off when they come in.Therefore, it's so important to understand your place in the world, which will help you understand other people better too.
__10__ When you meet people from a different culture, you can politely ask them about their lives.Seek out books or watch movies by and about people who're different from you.Additionally, you can immerse (沉浸) yourself in a different culture through travel to understand how different other lifestyles can be.
However, sometimes, learning a lot about a different culture can lead you into a trap. You may think you know much about a culture, which may lead you to show off your knowledge when you meet someone from that background. But it's a problem to assume that everyone from one particular culture has the same attitudes and experiences.Your assumptions that lead you to prejudge others can be harmful.__11__
Differences between us are what make life so interesting. So accept the differences between yourself and your friends from different cultures.__12__ In detail, ask questions if your friends are open to it, but also learn how to just silently observe and appreciate the differences that make us unique.
A.It is a simple thing, but it's a huge marker of culture!
