After the summer break, Delhi's children returned to school this month and found a new class added to their schedules: happiness.
It wasn't a welcome-back joke. In a country where top universities require average test scores above 98 percent and where cheating on final high school exams is organized by a “mafia” that includes teachers and school officials, the Delhi government's new scheme marks a change of emphasis (强调) from student performance to well-being.
“We have given best-of-the-best graduates of ability to industry,” said Manish Sisodia, Delhi's education minister.“But have we been able to supply best-of-the-best human beings to society, to the nation?”
Sisodia's happiness classes represent a major experiment in a country known for its overstrict, bookish education system, which has helped cement (巩固) a new middle class over the past thirty years but is also poorly thought of for encouraging rote (死记硬背的) learning and causing high pressure levels. Under the program, 100,000 Delhi students spend the first half-hour of each school day without opening a textbook, learning instead through inspirational stories and activities, as well as such thinking exercises as meditation.
Some teachers, though, remain uncertain. Some of them say, the public schools are too crowded for a course based so heavily on classroom interaction (互动). Others doubt that the happiness classes can change the culturally deep-rooted emphasis on exams and memorization. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, chair of education, economics and international development at University College London, said that there haven't been any studies to value their workability.“As far as I know, in some schools they are just another box-ticking exercise,” she said.

9.How is the fourth paragraph mainly developed?
A.By giving examples.
B.By making comparisons.
C.By following time order.
D.By listing data.
10.What's Geeta Gandhi Kingdon's attitude towards the effect of happiness classes?
A.Confident. B.Hopeless.
C.Doubtful. D.Indifferent.
根据最后一段中的“As far as I know, in some schools they are just another box-ticking exercise”可知,她对课程的效果表示怀疑。

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming a valuable tool in language learning, providing new ways to support learners. From beginners to advanced learners, AI is more likely to completely change how language content is created, delivered and learned.
AI-powered tools offer learners a judgment-free environment where they can practice language skills — speaking, listening, or writing — without fear of feeling awkward.Learners can receive quick corrections, allowing them to experiment, make mistakes and improve step by step.
For many years, AI systems have been able to analyze common mistakes or areas of difficulty, tracking a learner's progress over time.AI tools now also allow for targeted interventions (干预) and individual instruction based on these areas of chance, helping learners improve in the topics where they struggle the most.
AI can introduce learners to a wide variety of dialogue settings and cultural contexts. This improves their ability to adapt their language use to different situations, which is necessary for making real-world language fluent.
Just as every coin has two sides, AI is no exception.Although AI can create sentences that follow grammar rules, it sometimes fails to grasp the small cultural and context details that are important for truly learning a language. It might not express sayings, and jokes specific to certain cultures well.
Many AI models find it difficult to change the language level fit for beginners right away. Most AI language learning tools need a lot of directions to keep the content suitable.Even with this help, there's a good chance that the materials might be too hard or too easy, making it tough for learners to get full use of them effectively.
One key factor of language learning is getting over the worries or fear of speaking with others in real-life situations.AI tools are helpful, but they cannot fully copy the pressure that comes with real-time interactions with other human speakers, which is necessary for building confidence.

A.It offers a worry-free practice environment.
B.It can perfect language skills related to culture.
C.It can give suitable contents for beginners at once.
D.It provides a system targeted for all mistakes' analysis.

13.What does the underlined word “grasp” in the fifth paragraph mean?
A.Describe. B.Define.
C.Understand. D.Quote.
根据第五段中“It might not express sayings, and jokes specific to certain cultures well.”
14.Why are AI tools not enough for building learners' confidence in speaking?
A.They can't copy real-life stress from interactions.
B.They lack communication settings to practice.
C.They don't provide corrections in time.
D.They can't make grammatical sentences.
根据最后一段中“AI tools are helpful, but they cannot fully copy the pressure that comes with real-time interactions with other human speakers, which is necessary for building confidence.”
15.What is the author's attitude towards AI in language learning?
A.Doubtful. B.Objective.
C.Positive. D.Unconcerned.
根据第五段中“Just as every coin has two sides, AI is no exception.”

13-year-old Ryan was a lazy video game addict who always required the help of the housekeeper for everything. His father, Alex, noticed how spoiled (宠坏的) his son was, so he decided to set things right.
One day, Ryan was running late for school, but he was still busy playing video games. He was so distracted that he had no time to put on his socks and shoes, so the housekeeper did it for him.
“Dad, I'm ready. Let's go!” he finally shouted, taking his school bag. Alex had always driven him to his school even though it was just a seven-minute walk from their home. For Ryan, that would seem like a hundred tiring miles.
That morning, to Ryan's surprise, Alex asked him to walk to school instead. “What? No! I can't carry this heavy bag to school on foot. Please drop me off, Dad,” Ryan said. But Alex turned a deaf ear. “Just walk. Get used to it,” he said.
Ryan had no choice but to walk along the road. He was out of breath when he got to the school gate. He came into his classroom and sat on the chair quickly. He was tired. He wasn't used to walking, even for a few minutes. What a lazy and weak boy Ryan was!
When Ryan was still resting, he found a boy he didn't know entering the classroom in a wheelchair. The boy was Mike, who was new to Ryan's neighborhood and lived very close to Ryan's house. He moved in with his grandparents recently after he lost his ability to walk in a car crash that killed his parents. Regardless of his extremely bad luck, Mike decided to be strong, optimistic, confident, brave and independent.
Although Mike was new in class, all classmates welcomed him warmly. Ryan never made a single friend all these years. Nobody liked him because he was lazy. The attention Mike got that day made him more upset.
The next day, Ryan begged his dad to drive him to his school again. But Alex just shook his head. Quite disappointed, Ryan had to walk to school,

Just as he left home, he saw Mike alone on the road, pushing his wheelchair. Curious, Ryan slowed down and approached him. And he helped push his wheelchair forward and asked, “Don't you have any family members to help you?” Mike stopped and turned around. “Thank you! I don't want to depend on others to do things for me,” he smiled. While continuing walking, Mike talked about his family. Then he explained his determination to be strong and brave. “I can't walk, but that doesn't make me weak,” he ended.
Encouraged by Mike's words, Ryan decided to try to be independent. When he informed Mike of his decision, Mike supported him. Together, they happily headed towards their school. The next morning, to Alex's surprise, Ryan waved goodbye to him and walked with Mike to the school, without requiring Alex to drive him. With time going by, Ryan and Mike were inseparable and became best friends. And motivated by Mike, Ryan quit wasting time on video games and took on many duties without relying on other people.
