Emma loved books more than anything else. She would spend hours
reading in her room, imagining herself in far-away lands, solving
mysteries, or flying with superheroes. But there was one problem—Emma
didn't like sharing her books with others.
One day, her friend Lily asked, “Emma, can I borrow your new
book? It looks really interesting!” Emma thought for a while. “I don't
think so,” she said. “I'm afraid you might mess it up.”
9
Lily looked disappointed, but she didn't say anything. That evening,
Emma told her mom about the conversation. “Why don't you let Lily
borrow it?” her mom asked. “Good books should be shared.”
“But what if she doesn't take care of it?” Emma replied.
“Sometimes, sharing means trusting others,” her mom said. “If you
never share, you might miss out on(错过) something wonderful.”
Emma thought about her mom's words. The next day, she brought
the book to school and handed it to Lily. “Here you go,” she said shyly.
“Please be careful with it.”
Lily's face lit up. “Thank you, Emma! I promise I'll take good care
of it.”
A week later, Lily returned the book, looking excited. “The story
was amazing!” she said. “And guess what? I found another book written
by the same author! You can borrow it if you'd like.”
Emma smiled. She realized her mom was right—sharing had brought
her something wonderful. From that day on, Emma started sharing her
books more often, and she found new stories and made new friends
along the way.#9
