Way back in history, different groups of people came to live in what is now England. They all had their own ways of speaking. As they started living together, their languages mixed and changed. These people created (创造) early English by blending (混合) languages. As time passed, early English kept changing. Around a thousand years ago, the Vikings (维京人), who came from places like Denmark and Norway, invaded (入侵)England. They brought new words and sounds that got mixed into the language, making it more interesting and colorful. Then, in 1066, the Normans (诺曼人), who were from France, conquered (征服) England. They spoke differently from the people in England and brought many French words with them. These new words blended with English, adding more variety and richness to the language. As people from England traveled to other lands, they took their language along. English spread across the world and became one of the most spoken languages. Today, English is used by billions (数以亿计的) of people in many countries. It continues to change and grow. The history of the English language shows how different languages mixed together over many years. 1.How did people create early English? _______________________________________________________ 2.Where did the Vikings come from? _______________________________________________________ 3.When did the Normans conquer England? _______________________________________________________ 4.How many people are there who use English today? _______________________________________________________ 5.What does the history of the English language show? _______________________________________________________ 02 请阅读下面这篇文章,根据所提供的信息,回答5个问题。要求所写答案语法正确、语义完整。 Losing Our Language? The Internet is a place where we can talk freely. But it is also a place where we pay little attention to whether or not our language competence (能力) is becoming poorer. According to a recent survey by China Youth Daily, more than 76 percent of young people in China said they felt their Chinese language skills have declined (下降). They don’t use complex rhetorical technique (修辞手法) as often as before anymore. It is believed that digital (数字的) technology and Internet memes (表情包) have changed their communication habits. For example, direct expression is the preferred way to communicate online. When one sees something funny, one will simply type “hahaha” or use the “cry-laugh” emoji. Also, “copy” culture is getting popular. People simply pick up expressions from the Internet without much thought. Many begin to use a fixed set of sentence patterns, such as “whenever you disagree with each other”. Cai Xiaojia, a teacher from Fuzhou, told China Youth Daily that words in general are being used less. For instance, people can share photos online with little need for words to describe them. 1.What can we do on the Internet according to the passage? _____________________________________________________________ 2.How many young people in China felt their Chinese language skills have declined? _____________________________________________________________ 3.What have changed their communication habits? _____________________________________________________________ 4.Where can people simply pick up expressions? _____________________________________________________________ 5.What is Cai Xiaojia’s job? _____________________________________________________________ 03 请阅读下面短文,根据所提供的信息,回答5个问题,要求所写答案语法正确,语义完整切题。 Losing Our Language The Internet is a place where we can talk freely. However, young people’s language competence (能力) is becoming poorer because they pay little attention to the way they talk on the Internet. More than 76% of young people in China say they feel their Chinese language skills are becoming poor. Internet memes(表情包) are changing their communication habits (习惯). When they communicate on the Internet, they usually use Internet memes. For example, when one sees something funny, he will just use “hahaha”, or use the “cry-laugh” emoji (表情). Also, “copy” culture is getting popular. People often pick up expressions from the Internet without much thinking. If this goes on, it may do harm to our way of thinking. When young people always choose to use emoji without thinking, it means they become too lazy to show their real feelings. If they keep using emoji in this way, it may be difficult for them to use the words correctly. To improve our language skills, experts (专家) suggest that we should try to develop language logic (逻辑). They also suggest that we should read more good books. Besides, keep using different kinds of words to show our feelings. It’s another good way to practice our language. 1.Why is young people’s language competence becoming poorer nowadays? ____________________________________________________________ 2.Who feel their Chinese language skills are becoming poor in China? ____________________________________________________________ 3.What is changing young people’s communication habits? ____________________________________________________________ 4.What may happen if they keep using emoji without thinking? ____________________________________________________________ 5.How many suggestions do experts give? ____________________________________________________________ 04 请阅读下面短文,根据所提供的信息,回答5个问题,要求所写答案语法正确,语义完整切题。 Hello, everyone. It only took me nine months to learn this language well. Here are my tips on how to learn Chinese: ★Listen to Mandarin (普通话) as often as Possible The first month or maybe two, just focus on listening. Start learning Chinese by paying attention to listening. Just get used to the sounds. ★Spend time in Memorizing Characters (熟记汉字) Once you decide to study Chinese characters, work at them every day. Spend half an hour to an hour a day just on learning characters. Why every day? Because you will forget the characters almost as quickly as you learn them, so you need to remember them again and again. ★Read as much as Possible Read a lot. I learned faster than my students 50 years ago, that’s because I read everything I could get. I read much more than other students. ★Speak a lot and Don’t Second Guess Yourself When you speak, don’t second guess yourself on tones (音调), or grammar of the language. Just let the mistakes pass. Every time you use the language you are practicing and getting used to it. At that time, my father liked to listen to songs. The lyrics (歌词) of the songs were different from my favorite ones, I asked him what the songs meant. He said it was a kind of language that people used around the world—English. These songs interested me. Sitting on the floor of my room, I started reading every word I heard in the song and trying to sing it. I felt quite angry at that time because I had no idea what the words meant. Over time, the interest let me find an online app. It could translate (翻译) the words in cartoon shows and movies from English to Chinese. At that moment I learned that there were no more problems for me. I was lost in learning the new language. I listened to the English songs many times until I was able to sing them. Slowly, I could understand the simple lyrics, and then I could even understand the words in video games. For me, that was very meaningful. When I went to the primary school, I could learn English more easily. This was the result of my own hard work in English. Now, after studying English for fourteen years, I find that my thoughts about it have changed a lot. In the beginning, I was just a kid who thought the language was fun and interesting. Now, this language helps me learn about the world and even myself better. It also helps me think about things in many ways. 1.What made the writer interested in English? ________________________________________________ 2.Why was the writer angry at the beginning of learning English? ________________________________________________ 3.How did the writer learn English according to the third paragraph (段)? ________________________________________________ 4.Was it easy for the writer to learn English in primary school? ________________________________________________ 5.What is the last paragraph mainly about? ________________________________________________ 培优篇 08 Language is always changing and developing. This isn’t a bad thing. If English hadn’t changed for a long time, we wouldn’t have words to describe telephones, washing machines, computers or some other new things. Language changes for several reasons. First, it changes because the needs of its speaker change. New technologies, new products, and new experiences need new words to express them clearly. Another reason for change is that different people have different language experiences. People use different sets of words and expressions, because they have different ages, jobs, education levels and so on. How does language develop then? On the one hand, many of the languages changes begin with young people. When young people communicate with others of their own age, their language grows in grammar, words and expressions that are different from the older people’s. Some have a short lifetime but others can influence the language for long. On the other hand, we get new words in many different ways. We borrow them from other languages, we create them by making words shorter or combining words and we make them out of proper names. Languages that don’t change over time are considered dead languages. The fact that English changes so much shows that it’s alive and well. 1.What does the writer think of the change and development of language? __________________________________________________________________________ 2.Why do people use different sets of words and expressions according to the passage? __________________________________________________________________________ 3.How many reasons for language change are mentioned in this passage? __________________________________________________________________________ 4.How do young people help develop language? __________________________________________________________________________ 5.What are considered dead languages according to the passage? __________________________________________________________________________ 09 请仔细阅读下面的文章,回答下列问题。 Do you speak a dialect, which means local language, in daily life? While many Chinese people speak putonghua, some local dialects are in danger of disappearing. To save them, the Chinese government started the Chinese Language Resources Protection Project a few years ago. This project looks at how people talk in 1,712 places. Their languages include 103 dialects that are almost gone. It has helped China to build the largest language resource library in the world. There’s an online library. In it people can learn dialects from over 5. 6 million audio clips and over 5 million videos. Why is it important to protect the dialect culture? According to Harold Palmer, a world expert on language, “dialects are a key to store local cultures. Language clearly shows the history and beliefs of an area,” he said. Scholar Zhang Hongming talked about his worries about the disappearing of dialects. “For over 10 years, in the Wu dialect areas such as Shanghai and Suzhou, children aged 6 to 15 can understand but hardly speak the dialect. Young people above 15 years old sometimes speak it, but not very well. If this keeps happening, the dialect might disappear,” he said. So how did China make this big library? “A big national effort has been put into the project to make it happen,” said Cao Zhiyun, an expert on the project. “Over five years, more than 350 universities and research groups joined in, along with over 4,500 experts and more than 6,000 dialect speakers.” The project is now entering into its second part. This includes creating digital tools like apps and mobile dictionaries to help people learn dialects. 1.Why did the Chinese government start the Chinese Language Resources Protection Project? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Where can people learn dialects from audio clips and videos? _______________________________________________________________ 3.What did Zhang Hongming worry about? _______________________________________________________________ 4.How many universities and research groups joined in the project? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What does the project’s second part include? _______________________________________________________________ 10 请阅读下面短文,根据所提供的信息,回答五个问题。要求所写答案语法正确、信息完整切题。 Folke Borgstrom, an 18-year-old boy from Sweden, bought a jade necklace (玉项链) in Beijing. ________________________________________________ 【答案】1.The English songs. 2.Because he had no idea what the words meant. 3.By listening to the English songs many times./He listened to the English songs many times. 4.Yes, it was./Yes. 5.The writer’s thoughts about English have changed a lot. 【解析】本文讲述了作者自小学习英语的经历,以及他对英语的看法有很大改变。 1.根据“He said it was a kind of language that people used around the world—English. __________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】1.It isn’t a bad thing. 2.Because they have different ages, jobs, education levels and so on. 3.Two. 4.By communicating. 5.Languages that don’t change over time. 【解析】本文主要讨论了语言总是在变化和发展,阐述了语言变化的原因、语言如何发展以及什么样的语言被认为是死语言。 1.根据第一段前两句“Language is always changing and developing. _______________________________________________________________ 【答案】1.To save local dialects that are in danger of disappearing. 2.In the online language resource library. 3.He worried about the disappearing of dialects. 4.More than 350. 5.Creating digital tools like apps and mobile dictionaries. 【解析】本文讲述了方言保护现状、保护意义以及未来计划等。 1.根据文章第一段“some local dialects are in danger of disappearing.
