Instead of seeking a finance career, she exchanged her business suit for the clothing of a farmer and went back to her hometown. Somehow, I found myself at a printer’s office in Northern Kentucky, making final edits for Ed’s small Cincinnati newspaper. It wasn’t until I’d been there a few months that I realized how much Ed changed the world around him and changed my life in the process. Ed started the paper because the local daily papers of the time turned a blind eye to some problems in the local community and gave little space to social issues affecting disadvantaged groups. Ed’s paper was a small, 16-page monthly one, handed out for free in bars. He often encouraged “non-writers” to write if they had a story to tell. Some of them were inexperienced writers. He worked with them until the words better expressed their ideas. When I turned in a story about an unpopular topic, he only asked, “Is it true?” and “Does it affect people?” Satisfied by my answers, he ran the story. What drove Ed? It wasn’t fame, for the paper’s limited resources (资源) kept him unknown; it wasn’t money, for he ran the paper at a deficit (赤字) for its whole life of eight years. More than once, I remembered him having to choose between paying his rent and paying the printer. Perhaps his real drive was revealed in a recent phone conversation. While talking about a common friend, I said, “He fought the good fight.” Ed responded, “The good fight’s never over.” I don’t believe events make heroes; I believe heroes are the result of long-standing goodness. Ed’s story proved the value of constancy (坚定不移) and expressed the significance of working for good causes. He showed how one person, working tirelessly, could help a population get over its problems. Above all, his example showed me the necessity of making my own contributions to the causes I believe in. 1.Why did Ed set up the Cincinnati newspaper? A.To promote new writers’ works. B.To improve his printer’s business. C.To find talent from disadvantaged groups. D.To reflect overlooked social problems. 2.What is Ed’s attitude towards storytellers like the author? A.Unfavorable. B.Supportive. C.Doubtful. D.Picky. 3.What does the “good fight” in paragraph 4 mainly refer to? A.Making a name for himself. B.Overcoming funding problems. C.Doing worthy and kind causes. D.Creating a significant profit. 4.Which of the following can best describe Ed? A.Determined and caring. B.Proud and single-minded. C.Frank and generous. D.Careful and hard-working. 根据第二段“Ed started the paper because the local daily papers of the time turned a blind eye to some problems in the local community and gave little space to social issues affecting disadvantaged groups.(Ed之所以创办这份报纸,是因为当时的地方日报对当地社区的一些问题视而不见,对影响弱势群体的社会问题报道很少)”可知,Ed创办这份报纸是为了反映被忽视的社会问题。故选D。 2. 根据第三段提到“He often encouraged ‘non-writers’ to write if they had a story to tell. Some of them were inexperienced writers. He worked with them until the words better expressed their ideas. When I turned in a story about an unpopular topic, he only asked, ‘Is it true?’ and ‘Does it affect people?’ Satisfied by my answers, he ran the story.( 他经常鼓励‘非作家’,如果他们有故事要讲,就去写作。他们中的一些人是没有经验的作家。他和他们一起工作,直到文字更好地表达了他们的想法。当我提交一篇关于一个不受欢迎的话题的报道时,他只问:‘这是真的吗?’和‘它会影响人吗?’他对我的回答很满意,于是发表了这篇报道)”可知,Ed对像作者这样的讲故事的人是支持的。故选B。 3.词句猜测题。根据最后一段中“Ed’s story proved the value of constancy (坚定不移) and expressed the significance of working for good causes. He showed how one person, working tirelessly, could help a population get over its problems. Above all, his example showed me the necessity of making my own contributions to the causes I believe in.(Ed的故事证明了坚持不懈的价值,也表达了为公益事业而努力的重要性。他展示了一个人如何不知疲倦地工作,可以帮助一群人克服问题。最重要的是,他的榜样向我展示了为我所信仰的事业做出自己贡献的必要性)”可知,“good fight”主要指做值得和善良的事业,而不是克服经济困难、为自己出名或创造巨大的财富。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据第二段“Ed started the paper because the local daily papers of the time turned a blind eye to some problems in the local community and gave little space to social issues affecting disadvantaged groups.(Ed之所以创办这份报纸,是因为当时的地方日报对当地社区的一些问题视而不见,对影响弱势群体的社会问题报道很少)”和最后一段中“Ed’s story proved the value of constancy (坚定不移) and expressed the significance of working for good causes. We had many books. And for me, libraries were a place to get my favourite books. I got older and did the things most people did. Then one spring and summer my life changed. I lost my wife and retired. I realized that I had more time on my hands than I had things to do. So I took a volunteer job at an organization that sent food, clothes and perhaps some hope to unlucky members of our community. It was, and remains, an excellent organization, but I didn’t feel a connection between it and me. I left. At the same time, I discovered that I was about to lose touch with an old, dear friend. Traditional methods of communication were out of the question. I had only a vague (模糊的) idea of what an email was, and I had no computer. As you might well guess, I had no warm feelings about computers. I had to choose: I could keep the attitude, or keep the friend. No-brainer. My little library in Camp Verde, Arizona was beginning a computer class designed for beginners. I learned how to email. Having no computer, I had to drive to the library most days to do my emailing. Over a period of time I attracted the attention of Alice, a worker at the library. She felt the library would be the perfect place for me to volunteer. She had a point. I was already there a lot and I enjoyed the people I came in contact with. So I volunteered. Over the next couple of years, I learned much more about computers in general and finally came to the point where I was actually able to help others with some computer problems. Imagine that! 1.What was the author’s childhood like? A.He often read books. B.He seldom went to libraries. C.He was born in a rich family. D.He liked doing things few children did. 2.What did the author think of his first volunteer job? A.He found it enjoyable. B.He learned a lot from it. C.He wasn’t interested in it. D.He didn’t think it was worth doing. 3.Why did the author decide to learn computer skills? A.To kill time after retirement. B.To use the library in a smarter way. C.To keep in touch with an old friend. D.To satisfy his interest in the Internet. 4.How does the writer develop the passage? A.By listing numbers. B.By giving examples. C.By following the order of time. D.By following the order of space. 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.C 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者退休后的生活经历及参与图书馆志愿工作的过程。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中“We had many books. As you might well guess, I had no warm feelings about computers. I had to choose: I could keep the attitude, or keep the friend. No-brainer. (与此同时,我发现自己即将与一位相识已久且关系亲密的朋友失去联系。传统的交流方式根本行不通。我对电子邮件是什么只有一个模糊的概念,而且我没有电脑。正如你很可能猜到的那样,我对电脑没有什么好感。我必须做出选择:我可以坚持自己的态度,或者留住这位朋友。这根本不用多想。)”可知,作者学电脑技能是为了和老朋友保持联系,故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据文章第一段中“I was born into a family that was short on money but long on seeking knowledge. Arriving in rural Wuwei in Gansu, we were soon enjoying a hearty meal of handmade noodles at a local restaurant. Well-fed, we headed to the Tiantishan Grottoes (洞穴), some of the earliest grottoes built in China. We walked down into a cavernous dam (坝), initially built to supply water to the local community. This dam houses a series of enormous statues (雕像), the largest of which is the Sakyamuni Buddha. The next day, we arrived at the Jiayuguan Fortress. This was the primary transportation node linking the East and West along the ancient Silk Road. Once we got out of the gate, we were greeted with the sight of the Gobi Desert stretching before us. Our fifth day took us to the Yumen Pass and the Dunhuang Yardang National Geopark. An adventure should encounter all kinds of weather, but even so, I felt scared when I walked into a sandstorm that morning. Thankfully, many of our group were well-prepared with face masks and caps. I, on the other hand, was not as equipped, so I was quite happy to stay in the hotel at the end of the day — and empty out the dirt that had gathered in my ears! This was, admittedly, the low point of the trip. The next day’s visit to the Mogao Grottoes was the definitive highlight of the trip. Upon entering the dry, cool grottoes, it’s as though you’ve entered another world: The grottoes are filled with ancient artwork with 45,000 square metres of wall paintings and statues. We ended our trip by crossing the Yellow River in rafts. I learned an extraordinary amount about the Silk Road, but, moreover, I got to explore this part of China with a great group of like-minded people. 1.For what purpose was the dam at the Tiantishan Grottoes originally built? A.To store water. B.To protect the grottoes. C.To attract tourists. D.To house statues of Buddha. 2.What happened to the author on the fifth day? A.He lost his travel equipment. B.He stayed at the hotel all day. C.He encountered all weathers in one day. D.He got depressed by the terrible sandstorm. 3.What was the trip like in the author’s eyes? A.Boring with no highlights. B.Thrilling with many adventures. C.Disappointing due to the weather conditions. D.Educational and enjoyable despite some challenges. 4.What is the best title for the text? A.A Tour along the Silk Road B.The Magic of the Silk Road C.A Silk Road Travel Guide D.The Silk Road Attractions 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.D 4.A 【导语】这是一篇记叙文,本文主要讲述了作者在2017年6月沿着丝绸之路旅行的经历。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“We walked down into a cavernous dam (坝), initially built to supply water to the local community.(我们走进一个洞穴般的水坝,最初是为了给当地社区供水而建的)”可知,天梯山石窟的水坝最初是为储水而建造的,故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段中“An adventure should encounter all kinds of weather, but even so, I felt scared when I walked into a sandstorm that morning.(冒险应该遇到各种天气,但即便如此,那天早上我走进沙尘暴时还是感到害怕)”和“This was, admittedly, the low point of the trip.(不可否认,这是这次旅行的最低谷)”可知,第五天时作者因可怕的沙尘暴而情绪低落,故选D。 3.推理判断题。根据全文内容,结合第四段中“An adventure should encounter all kinds of weather, but even so, I felt scared when I walked into a sandstorm that morning.(冒险应该遇到各种天气,但即便如此,那天早上我走进沙尘暴时还是感到害怕)”和最后一段中“I learned an extraordinary amount about the Silk Road, but, moreover, I got to explore this part of China with a great group of like-minded people.(我学到了很多关于丝绸之路的知识,但更重要的是,我和一群志同道合的人一起探索了中国的这一部分)”可知,虽然这次旅行遭遇了沙尘暴,但是作者学到了很多关于丝绸之路的知识,但更重要的是和一群志同道合的人一起探索了中国的这一部分,由此推知在作者看来这次旅行尽管有一些挑战,但具有教育意义和乐趣,故选D。 4.主旨大意题。根据全文内容,结合第一段“In June 2017, we began the trip of a lifetime, exploring the history of the Silk Road in China.(2017年6月,我们开始了一次千载难逢的旅行,探索丝绸之路在中国的历史)”可知,本文主要讲述了作者在2017年6月沿着丝绸之路旅行的经历。A项“沿丝绸之路之旅”最适合作为标题,故选A。 主题03 人与社会——文学、艺术与体育 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东菏泽A卷·期中) John Griffith Chaney, better known as Jack London, was one of the most popular American authors of his time. Wait a minute here.” Grandpa left, soon returning as though carrying something in his hand, but Mario could see nothing there. “Take it. It’s a very special chair. It’s rather tricky to sit on for it’s invisible, but if you take it to school and manage to sit on it, you’ll be able to tell who your real friends are,” Grandpa said. Mario was curious to know whether it was true or not, so he took the strange invisible chair and set off for school. At break time, he asked his classmates to form a circle, and then he put himself inside, with his chair. “Nobody moves! You’ re about to see something amazing.” Then Mario tried to sit on the chair, but he missed and fell down onto his back. Everyone had a pretty good laugh about it. Mario wouldn’t be beaten. He kept trying to sit on the magic chair, and kept falling to the ground…until, suddenly, he tried again and didn’t fall over. This time he sat, hovering in mid-air... Looking around, Mario saw George, Lucas and Diana — three of his best friends, holding him up, so he wouldn’t fall down. Meanwhile, many others he had thought of as friends did nothing but make fun of him, enjoying his every fall. Leaving with his three friends, he explained to them how his grandpa had so cleverly thought. of a way to show him that true friends are those who care about us, and not just any acquaintance who happens to be passing by. So as I held my first son in my arms, I wondered, “In a baseball-loving country where every boy will pick it up, who’s going to teach him how to throw a ball? Who’s going to explain to him the rules of baseball?” For several years when Will and his younger brother, Tim, were toddlers I could put off the Reckoning Day (清算日) by rolling balls around, inside and out, but I knew that day would eventually come. Every dad wants to be a hero to his kids, but I didn’t see how I could if I couldn’t show my sons how to hit the ball with a bat. It was at this moment in my parenting that inspiration struck. I chatted with some of the other dads in the neighborhood, the ones who really could be coaches, and suggested we start our own baseball league. “That sounds great, Rick,” they said. “We’d love to coach, but who could organize something like that?” “Well,” I hesitated, “I could try.” Being an organizer may mean taking some phone calls to get a permit for a field or order some uniforms, but that sounded easier to me than explaining the difference between a ball and a strike. That was the birth of Hudson Cliffs Baseball, now in its 13th straight season. I often see kids in the neighborhood with an “H. C.” on their ball caps. Every time I see them, I want to tell them how it all came about because the first commissioner (行政管理人) of the league was a failure at sports. Am I a hero to my sons? I don’t know. But guess who is the commissioner of the baseball league at his college? My first born. Like father, like son. Except he can really hit the ball. 1.What can be inferred about the author in paragraph 2? A.He wanted his sons to be independent. B.He was anxious about his parenting role. C.He wanted to learn baseball skills for his sons. D.He didn’t think baseball was right for his sons. 2.What did the Reckoning Day mean for the author in paragraph 3? A.The duty of making his sons love sports. B.The pressure of starting a baseball league. C.The task of testing his sons’ sportsmanship. D.The responsibility of teaching his sons baseball. 3.Why did the author want to start a baseball league? A.To challenge the other dads. B.To prove himself to his sons. C.To build up a name for himself. D.To show his organizational ability. 4.Which of the following best describes Hudson Cliffs Baseball according to the text? A.Competitive. B.Creative. C.Attractive. D.Selective. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了作者不会打棒球,为教儿子打棒球成立棒球联盟,如今联盟成功,儿子也参与其中的经历。 1.推理判断题。根据第二段“So as I held my first son in my arms, I wondered, “In a baseball-loving country where every boy will pick it up, who’s going to teach him how to throw a ball? She expected the youngster to answer with a list of toys and games. His answer took his mother by surprise and brought her to tears. A child’s birthday is usually spent doing fun activities, catting cakes, opening gifts surrounded by family and friends. Young Kieng had a different idea of how he wanted to spend his big day. Instead, he wanted to gift his community by handing out a dozen pizzas to homeless people living in a “tent city” in Charlotte, NC. Antiqua, hoping to make good on her son’s birthday request, shopped around neighbourhood pizzas to see which of them could quickly fill a large order of 100 pizzas. She received only one reply to her request. To her shock, one charitable store manager named Gage Lock not only agreed to accept the order, he also provided a donation of 75 pizzas. Gage and his staff also delivered the pizza pics to the “tent city” in order to personally help give them away to the homeless population there. “That made me want to do it so much more, knowing it was a 7-year-old kid, and all he wanted for his birthday was to give back to the community,” replied Gage describing his purpose to join in the unusual birthday pizza party. He first became responsible for safeguarding his family’s cattle when he was just nine. But often, his valuable livestock (家畜) would be attacked suddenly by the lions, leaving him to count the losses. “I grew up hating lions very much,” says Richard. “They used to come at night and feed on our cattle when we were sleeping.” So, at the age of 11, Richard decided it was time to find a way of protecting his family’s cows, goats and sheep from being hunted by hungry lions. His light bulb moment came with one small observation. One day, when he was walking around, he discovered that the lions were scared of the moving light. He realized that lions dared not approach the farm when someone was walking around with a flashlight. He put his young mind to work and a few weeks later he came up with a creative, simple and low-cost system to scare them away. He fitted a series of flashing LED bulbs onto poles around the livestock enclosure (围墙), facing outward. The lights were wired to a box with switches and to an old car battery powered by a solar panel. They were designed to flash on and off constantly, thus tricking the lions into believing that someone was moving around carrying a flashlight. And it worked. Since Richard set up his “Lion Lights”, his family has not lost any livestock to the wild beasts, to the great delight of his father and astonishment of his neighbors. He then fitted the lights for his neighbors and six other homes in his community. From then on, the lights spread and are now being used all around Kenya. In Zambia and Tanzania his “Lion Lights” are being used, as well. What’s even more impressive is that Richard invented and installed (安装) the whole system by himself, without ever receiving any training in electronics or engineering. 1.Why did Richard Turere dislike lions when he was young? A.He was often attacked by lions. B.Lions often ate his family’s livestock. C.Lions always affected his sleep at night. D.He thought lions were dangerous to humans 2.How did Richard get the inspiration for his “Lion Lights”? A.He learned it from his neighbors. B.He got it from a scientific experiment. C.He noticed lions were afraid of moving light. D.He was impressed by a similar device he saw before. 3.What can we infer about Richard’s “Lion Lights”? A.They cost him a lot of money. B.They are installed by workers. C.They have been used in most African countries. D.They make lions think there are people around. 4.Which of the following can best describe Richard Turere? A.Generous and energetic. B.Talented and warmhearted. C.Intelligent and humorous. D.Productive and knowledgeable. 【答案】1.B 2.C 3.D 4.B 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。本文讲述了生活在肯尼亚内罗毕国家公园边缘的Richard Turere,他因狮子经常袭击自家的牲畜而发明了“狮子灯”来保护牲畜的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“But often, his valuable livestock would be attacked suddenly by the lions, leaving him to count the losses.(但他的宝贵牲畜经常会被狮子突然袭击,让他不得不计算损失)”和第二段““I grew up hating lions very much,” says Richard. “They used to come at night and feed on our cattle when we were sleeping.(“我从小就非常讨厌狮子,”Richard说,“它们经常在晚上来,趁我们睡觉的时候吃我们的牛。”)”可知,Richard Turere年轻时不喜欢狮子是因为狮子经常吃他家的牲畜。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段“His light bulb moment came with one small observation. One day, when he was walking around, he discovered that the lions were scared of the moving light.(他的灵感来自一个小小的观察。有一天,当他四处走动时,他发现狮子害怕移动的光)”可知,Richard是通过注意到狮子害怕移动的光而获得他的“狮子灯”的灵感的。故选C。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段“They were designed to flash on and off constantly, thus tricking the lions into believing that someone was moving around carrying a flashlight.(它们被设计成不断闪烁,从而欺骗狮子,让它们以为有人拿着手电筒在周围走动)”可知,Richard的“狮子灯”让狮子以为周围有人。故选D。 4.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“He then fitted the lights for his neighbors and six other homes in his community. (然后,他为他的邻居以及社区里的另外六户人家安装了这些灯)”和最后一段“What’s even more impressive is that Richard invented and installed the whole system by himself, without ever receiving any training in electronics or engineering.(更令人印象深刻的是,Richard自己发明并安装了整个系统,从未接受过任何电子或工程方面的培训。)”可知,Richard Turere是一个有才华的人,另外,从他为邻居和其他家庭安装“狮子灯”可以看出他是一个热心的人。由此可知,选项B“有才华的和热心的”最能描述Richard Turere。故选B。 主题01 人与社会——社会服务与人际沟通 Passage 1 (23-24高一下·山东济宁·期中) Bookstores are amazing places. But when your community is too small to house a real bookstore, sometimes you have to be creative. A mobile bookstore that brings books around the country was the result. That is the case for Rita Collins, 70, who dreamed of opening a used bookstore after she retired from teaching. However, Eureka, Montana, located just seven miles from the Canadian border, only has a population of 1,517. Given this, she had to give it up. Later, while attending a business class from the American Booksellers Association, Collins asked her instructors about a traveling bookstore on wheels but they were doubtful. This time she didn’t give up. Collins was inspired by Dylans Mobile Bookstore, a traveling bookstore in Wales run by Jeff Towns. She contacted Jeff for advice but she was largely on her own when it came to setting up her bookstore. First, she had to find a vehicle which is large enough to stand in and mechanically (机械地) sound as well as easy to drive and park. A local mechanic helped her find exactly what she needed. Then she had to have it refitted with shelves that would hold the books at a 15-degree angle so that they would stay in place while in transport. Collins named her bookstore St Rita’s Traveling Bookstore. It has been on the road since 2015. For the first two years, St Rita’s was only a summer project. At first, she drove through Montana and then she made her first cross country trip across the US in 2016. After she retired in 2017, it became a full-time project from spring to fall. Till now, Collins and her 600-volume traveling bookstore have visited 30 states, benefiting countless people along the way. While Collins loves what she does, she doesn’t think she can always keep doing it. In a couple of years, she hopes to pass her traveling bookstore onto another booklover who will keep it on the road. 1.What discouraged Collins from opening a used bookstore in Eureka? A.Lack of enough readers. B.Lack of start-up money. C.Disbelief from instructors. D.Failure to find a location. 2.What’s Collins’ requirement of her vehicle? A.It should be fancy and colorful. B.It should be cost-saving. C.It should be practical and safe. D.It should be environmentally-friendly. 3.In which season did Collins close her Bookstore after 2017? A.Spring. B.Summer. C.Autumn. D.Winter. 4.What is a suitable title for the text? A.An Influential Class B.A Bookstore on Wheels C.A Specially-made Vehicle D.An Outstanding Retired Teacher 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.D 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要介绍了70岁的Rita Collins从教职岗位退休后,开了一家移动书店。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“However, Eureka, Montana, located just seven miles from the Canadian border, only has a population of 1,517. (然而,距加拿大边境仅七英里的蒙大拿州尤里卡仅有 1,517 人)”可知,缺乏足够的读者使得柯林斯没有在尤里卡开二手书店,故选A。 2.推理判断题。根据第三段中“First, she had to find a vehicle which is large enough to stand in and mechanically (机械地) sound as well as easy to drive and park. A local mechanic helped her find exactly what she needed. Then she had to have it refitted with shelves that would hold the books at a 15-degree angle so that they would stay in place while in transport.(首先,她必须找到一辆足够大、机械性能良好、易于驾驶和停车的车辆。当地的一名机械师帮助她找到了她所需要的车辆。然后,她必须重新安装书架,以便以 15 度角放置书籍,这样书籍在运输过程中就能保持在原位)”可推知,柯林斯对她的车的要求是它应该实用、安全。故选C。 3.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中“For the first two years, St Rita’s was only a summer project. At first, she drove through Montana and then she made her first cross country trip across the US in 2016. After she retired in 2017, it became a full-time project from spring to fall. (最初两年,圣丽塔的旅行只是一个夏季项目。起初,她开车穿越蒙大拿州,然后于 2016 年首次穿越美国。2017 年退休后,它变成了一个从春季到秋季的全职项目)”可知,2017 年之后,柯林斯在冬季关闭了她的书店,故选D。 4.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第第一段中“A mobile bookstore that brings books around the country was the result.(最终成果是,一家将书籍送到全国各地的流动书店)”和倒数第二段中“ Collins named her bookstore St Rita’s Traveling Bookstore.(柯林斯将她的书店命名为“圣丽塔旅行书店”)”可知,文章主要介绍了70岁的Rita Collins从教职岗位退休后,开了一家流动书店。B项“流动书店”适合作为文章标题,故选B。 主题02 人与社会——历史、社会与文化 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东青岛·期中) In 2020, explorer Shears received enough funding for a search for Captain Shackleton’s lost ship the Endurance. Partnering with engineer Vincent, who has helped locate hundreds of sunken ships, the team studied past failures and finally chose firm underwater vehicles for the search. Vincent noted they needed tools for extreme conditions, which can be compared to mountain-ready trucks. So Hugin 6000 came into their view for the first time. It is an effective subsea vehicle, which had been highly praised in this field. However, their first attempt faced an immediate challenge. Hugin 6000’s major failure alarm sounded in the extreme cold. Vincent used a retired winch (绞车) with a heater over to lengthen Hugin 6000’s battery (电池) life. This simple solution finally allowed for deep-sea searches. During deep-sea search, they found the original location marks had mistakes. Fortunately, Frank, an astronomer of the team, used the team’s star observations to correct the location. With the updated location marks, the team narrowed the search area. Still, the moving ice made even this smaller zone difficult to explore. After weeks of disappointment, hope arrived on March 5,2022. They captured a sonar (声呐) image of the Endurance’s pole from the vehicle’s sensors. “I want to see the ship with the camera!” Vincent shouted with excitement. After many attempts, they eventually took a clear picture of the boat with a camera. They found the Endurance in excellent condition after being underwater for 106 years. Shears, who was normally quiet and serious, excitedly hugged Vincent to celebrate their success. The amazing discovery happened exactly 100 years after Shackleton died, perfectly matching his famous saying “Hang in there, and we will achieve victory.” 1.What can we know about the Hugin 6000? A.It had just come into the market. B.It could work well in tough conditions. C.It was designed for mountain climbing. D.It had been developed by the team. 2.How did they solve the equipment problem? A.Buying newer robots. B.Using an old winch. C.Upgrading its heater. D.Turning to powerful batteries. 3.What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A.New challenges caused by moving ice. B.Ways to explore icy regions effectively. C.Technical problems in locating the ship. D.Efforts and challenges in searching for the ship. 4.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A.Never Give up: Finding a Lost Ship. B.Captain Shackleton: A Great Explorer. C.Solving Antarctica’s Weather Problems. D.Modern Tools for Ocean Exploration. 【答案】1.B 2.B 3.D 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了2020年探险家Shears获得资金寻找沙克尔顿船长失踪的船只“持久号”,团队借助Hugin 6000等工具历经困难最终在2022年成功找到该船。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中“Vincent noted they needed tools for extreme conditions, which can be compared to mountain ready trucks. This simple solution finally allowed for deep sea searches.(文森特使用了一个带加热器的退役绞车来延长Hugin 6000的电池寿命。这个简单的解决方案最终使得深海搜索得以进行)”可知,他们通过使用一个退役旧绞车解决了设备问题。故选B项。 3.主旨大意题。根据第三段“During deep sea search, they found the original location marks had mistakes. Fortunately, Frank, an astronomer of the team, used the team’s star observations to correct the location. With the updated location marks, the team narrowed the search area. Still, the moving ice made even this smaller zone difficult to explore.(在深海搜索过程中,他们发现原来的定位标记有误。幸运的是,团队中的天文学家弗兰克利用团队对恒星的观测结果修正了位置。有了更新后的定位标记,团队缩小了搜索范围。不过,移动的冰层使得即使是这个更小的区域也难以探索)”可知,该段主要讲述了在寻找船只过程中遇到原始定位标记错误等困难,以及团队为解决问题做出的努力,如修正位置、缩小搜索范围等。所以该段主要讲了寻找船只过程中的努力和挑战。故选D项。 4.主旨大意题。根据第二段中“However, their first attempt faced an immediate challenge. Hugin 6000’s major failure alarm sounded in the extreme cold.(然而,他们的第一次尝试立即面临挑战。Hugin 6000在极寒天气中发出了重大故障警报)”、第三段中“During deep sea search, they found the original location marks had mistakes.(在深海搜索过程中,他们发现原来的定位标记有误)”和“Still, the moving ice made even this smaller zone difficult to explore.(不过,移动的冰层使得即使是这个更小的区域也难以探索)”以及第四段中“After weeks of disappointment, hope arrived on March 5, 2022. They captured a sonar (声呐) image of the Endurance’s pole from the vehicle’s sensors.(经过数周的失望,希望在2022年3月5日降临。他们从航行器的传感器中捕捉到了’持久号’桅杆的声呐图像)”可知,团队在寻找失踪船只的过程中遇到了设备故障、定位错误、冰层阻碍等诸多困难,但他们没有放弃,最终取得了成功,正契合沙克尔顿船长所说的“Hang in there, and we will achieve victory.(坚持住,我们会取得胜利)”。所以A项“Never Give up: Finding a Lost Ship(永不放弃:寻找一艘失踪的船)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题。故选A项。 主题03 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东聊城市第一中学·期中) Years ago, I could not stick to exercising until I bought a CD called I Enjoy Exercise. I listened to it every day. I bought the CD because I wanted to run in a race and hopefully win! I had assured my 10-year-old son Todd that I would run in a race with him. Unfortunately, however, when that race came, his left leg was hurt in a car accident. Without him running with me, although I took part in that race, I didn’t do quite well in it. While Todd couldn’t run together with me because of his injury (受伤), he never forgot the promise I made for him. He was always asking me whether I would keep my promise when he recovered in the future. So I decided I was going to train and go all out to win the next race. What I needed was motivation (动力). It happened that one of my friends mentioned the CD which he liked very much, saying that he got a lot from the music in it when feeling down. So I bought it and listened to it while exercising every day. What happened to my thinking was amazing as I listened to it daily. I started to think about the repeated words on the CD — “I enjoy exercise”. Instead of dreading exercise, I was thinking, “I enjoy exercise.” I found out how important words are that we play in our minds every day. I went from a person who seldom exercised to someone who started to exercise daily. Just think how our lives will improve if we reflect on the uplifting words of the famous works. I have found the positive messages have greatly inspired me and then changed my life. How did I do in that race, you might be thinking? I actually became the champion in my age group. 1.Why did the author take part in the race by herself? A.She would like to win the race. B.She had a good talent for running. C.Her son got injured in a car accident. D.Her son was unwilling to run with her. 2.How did the author get the motivation for training? A.By recalling some inspiring stories. B.By listening to the CD while running. C.By getting timely help from her friend. D.By forcing herself into keeping running. 3.What does the underlined word “dreading” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Fearing. B.Improving. C.Preferring. D.Taking. 4.What message does the author intend to deliver to us? A.It’s important to avoid injury while running. B.The uplifting words make a difference to us. C.Parents should get along well with children. D.We can build up our bodies by regular exercise. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者在一个叫做I enjoy exercise的CD的鼓舞下,从过去不喜欢运动到现在每天都会运动。作者认为振奋人心的话语真地能产生很大的影响。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Unfortunately, however, when that race came, his left leg was hurt in a car accident.(然而,不幸的是,当比赛开始时,他的左腿在一次车祸中受伤了)”可知,作者的儿子在车祸中伤了左腿,不能参加跑步比赛了。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“It happened that one of my friends mentioned the CD which he liked very much, saying that he got a lot from the music in it when feeling down. So I bought it and listened to it while exercising every day.(碰巧我的一个朋友提到了他非常喜欢的CD,他说当他情绪低落的时候,从里面的音乐中得到了很多。所以我买了它,每天锻炼的时候听)”及第四段中的“I started to think about the repeated words on the CD — “I enjoy exercise”. Instead of dreading exercise, I was thinking, “I enjoy exercise.”(我开始想起CD上重复的那句话——“我喜欢运动”。我不是害怕运动,而是在想:“我喜欢运动。”)”可知,作者通过在运行时听CD获得了运动的动力。故选B。 3.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“I started to think about the repeated words on the CD — “I enjoy exercise”. Instead of (我开始想起CD上重复的那句话——“我喜欢运动”。我不是)”及下文“I was thinking, “I enjoy exercise.”(而是在想:“我喜欢运动。”)可知,dreading exercise和下文是转折关系,也就是说dreading和enjoy(享受)的感情基调是相反的。由此推知,划线词与fearing(害怕)意思接近。故选A。 4.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中的“I found out how important words are that we play in our minds every day.(我发现每天都在我们脑海中回响的话语是多么重要)”及“Just think how our lives will improve if we reflect on the uplifting words of the famous works. I have found the positive messages have greatly inspired me and then changed my life.(试想一下,如果我们反思名著中令人振奋的话语,我们的生活将会如何改善。我发现这些积极的信息极大地激励了我,并改变了我的生活)”可推知,作者想要告诉我们振奋人心的话语能产生很大的影响。故选B。 Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东德州·期中) Last February, a trip to a Caribbean island unexpectedly changed my life — probably for the better. What surprised me most was how the reality contrasted with my expectations. I read numerous blogs and travel diaries to prepare myself for the trip, so I thought I’d go in with a fairly good idea of what to expect. Each and every post I read spoke of fantastic landscapes, wonderful beaches, and charming cities. All of it was true in my experience — except for the interactions with some locals. I didn’t find them as warm as I had expected. They were polite, but their habit of getting something in return — whether souvenirs, small gifts, or other items — often left me with a mixed impression and a sense of uneasiness. After returning home, I felt the desire to write about my experience — not for other sites or papers as I’d often do. This time, I wanted to share my thoughts freely. So I opened my own blog. With zero tech knowledge, zero understanding of online content creation, I started writing and telling people what they should really expect during a trip. I’d put up the occasional post, while working my regular job. At the end of the year, my job contract as a social researcher at the local university ended. I decided to take a break from that career path for a while. I packed my bags and left for a long-term trip to Central and South America. I started writing on the blog more consistently, learning as I went, and eventually took my blog full-time, turning it into a career. As of today, I have never looked back and have no regrets. The one thing I’ll do, as soon as I can, is return to that island to say thank you — because it changed my life in a way nothing else has ever done. 1.What made the author unexpected during his trip? A.The beautiful scenery. B.Some locals’ behavior. C.The language barrier. D.Large crowds of visitors. 2.Why did the author write about his trip on his own blog? A.To practice his writing skills. B.To seek for a new position. C.To promote the local tourism. D.To share his true feelings. 3.What happened to the author’s career? A.He decided to be a researcher. B.He intended to retire from college. C.He signed a new job contract. D.He started his career as a blogger. 4.What’s probably the author’s current attitude towards his trip? A.Grateful. B.Regretful. C.Indifferent. D.Neutral. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.D 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者因一次加勒比海旅行引发人生转变,最终成为全职博主并心怀感激的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“All of it was true in my experience — except for the interactions with some locals. I didn’t find them as warm as I had expected. They were polite, but their habit of getting something in return — whether souvenirs, small gifts, or other items — often left me with a mixed impression and a sense of uneasiness.(在我的亲身经历中,所有这些都与描述相符——唯独与一些当地人的互动除外。我发现他们并不像我预期的那样热情友好。他们确实很有礼貌,但他们总是希望得到一些回报——无论是纪念品、小礼物还是其他物品——这种习惯常常让我产生复杂的印象和不安的感觉。)”可知,让作者在旅行中感到意外的是一些当地人的行为,他们并不像作者预期的那样热情友好,而是有着一种希望得到回报的习惯,这给作者留下了复杂的印象和不安的感觉。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段中“After returning home, I felt the desire to write about my experience — not for other sites or papers as I’d often do. This time, I wanted to share my thoughts freely. So I opened my own blog.(回家后,我感到有冲动要写下我的经历——不是像往常一样为其他网站或报纸写。这次,我想自由地分享我的想法。所以我开了自己的博客)”可知,作者在自己的博客上写关于他的旅行是为了自由地分享他的真实感受和想法。故选D。 3.细节理解题。根据第四段中“I started writing on the blog more consistently, learning as I went, and eventually took my blog full-time, turning it into a career.(我开始更频繁地在博客上写作,边学边写,最终把博客变成了全职工作,使其成为了我的职业)”可知,作者的职业发生了转变,他开始了作为博主的职业生涯。故选D。 4.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“The one thing I’ll do, as soon as I can, is return to that island to say thank you — because it changed my life in a way nothing else has ever done.(我能做的就是尽快回到那个岛上说声谢谢——因为它以一种前所未有的方式改变了我的生活)”可推知,作者认为此次旅行改变了自己的人生,对其心怀感激。故选A。 主题04 人与自我——做人与做事 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东潍坊·期中) Once, inspired by a chat with my cousin, I began writing stories on my iPad. Since then, I’ve written many stories, short and long. But also since then, I’ve read more books, seen more unpleasant comments on stories written by strangers online, and noticed just how well people my age could write. Since then, I also felt less and less willing to share my work because — shocker — what if my writing isn’t as good as everybody else’s? Writing became something I had to be good at in order to share. Hobbies often start as fun activities to do with friends. But as time goes on, you might find yourself doing something for years without noticeable improvement, leading to stress. Why do we feel we must excel (擅长) at everything? Society seems to push us to be skilled in various areas. I remember trying new hobbies like piano or drawing, but always expecting to be good right away. When I wasn’t, the enjoyment disappeared gradually. I’ve come to realize that I have taken in all the expectations to always excel on a set of skills I learn. I’ve come to consider joy as achievement, not enjoyment. Writing was my first real hobby. I can surely see the rapid growth in my writing, but the expectation to be better and better is never satisfied. This is why I drop writing for months at a time. This feeling of a hobby becoming a bore, lowers the satisfaction of said hobby. We have to accept that it’s okay not to be good at something and that it is okay to just be bad at an activity but still doing it because it brings you joy. Hobbies are there to give you a breath of fresh air from having to excel at everything. Besides, being good at something is completely subjective, standards change as we live our lives, and to be quite frank, we are often our own strictest judge. 1.What is the root reason for the author’s stopping sharing stories? A.Self-doubt about ability. B.Dislikes of comments. C.Pressure from his cousin. D.Lack of creative inspiration. 2.Why does the author mention piano and drawing? A.To explain a rule. B.To prove a theory. C.To confirm a phenomenon. D.To draw a conclusion. 3.What does the author mean by “I have taken in all the expectations”? A.He has overly judged his work. B.He has absorbed social demands. C.He has valued others’ views much. D.He has performed better than expected. 4.What is the author’s final attitude towards a hobby? A.It is a set of skills. B.It is a waste of time. C.It is demanding and stressful. D.It is acceptable and enjoyable. 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.B 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。主要讲述作者因担忧写作不如他人而不愿分享作品,并由此探讨社会对“擅长”的过度追求,最终提出应享受爱好本身而非强求卓越的观点。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中的““Since then, I also felt less and less willing to share my work because — shocker — what if my writing isn’t as good as everybody else’s?”(从那以后,我也越来越不愿意分享我的作品,因为 —— 令人震惊的是 —— 如果我的写作不如其他人好怎么办?)”可知,作者因怀疑自己的写作能力不如他人而停止分享故事,核心原因是“自我能力怀疑”。故选A项。 2.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Society seems to push us to be skilled in various areas. I remember trying new hobbies like piano or drawing, but always expecting to be good right away. When I wasn’t, the enjoyment disappeared gradually. (社会似乎迫使我们在各个领域都熟练掌握技能。我记得尝试过钢琴或绘画等新爱好,但总是期望马上就能擅长。当我做不到时,乐趣逐渐消失了)”可知,作者提到钢琴和绘画是为了印证“社会压力导致人们对新爱好抱有立即擅长的期待,否则乐趣会减少”这一现象。故选C项。 3.词句猜测题。根据第三段中的 “Society seems to push us to be skilled in various areas. I remember trying new hobbies like piano or drawing, but always expecting to be good right away. When I wasn’t, the enjoyment disappeared gradually. 根据最后一段中的“We have to accept that it’s okay not to be good at something and that it is okay to just be bad at an activity but still doing it because it brings you joy. Hobbies are there to give you a breath of fresh air from having to excel at everything. (我们必须接受,不擅长某件事也没关系,即使不擅长某项活动,但因为它能带来快乐而继续做下去也没关系。爱好的存在是为了让你从必须擅长一切的压力中喘口气)” 可知,作者认为爱好应是可接受的、令人享受的。故选D项。 Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东泰安第一中学·期中) Jared was my regular hiking, ice-climbing and mountain-biking fellow. We were on an overnight trip, just a single night, and what he’d brought for dinner was this: Rice. Literally nothing else. This was not a result of him trying to pack as light as possible, nor was it because he was broke. He wasn’t. I tried to convince him to at least put soy sauce (酱油) on it. But no, Jared wasn’t having a bar of it. “I don’t need it,” he said flatly. Now, if he was talking only about outdoors’ meals, I’d almost get it. When you’re ravenous after a day of burning off calories walking or climbing or backcountry skiing in the mountains, how awesome do things taste! I know what you’re thinking; it’s simply that, as the saying goes, hunger is the best sauce. And I agree. Absolutely. But there’s more to it than that. Last month, I went down the coast car camping with my family. One morning, my wife made a statement. “I don’t see the point,” she said. “It’s so much work, camping. But the views at home are better. The beds are more comfortable. It’s more peaceful. And at home, the food is better.” I’ll admit she’s right about the first three. But the food? We had a simple pasta one night, snags another, chicken curry the third, but they all tasted good. Better than at home. And it wasn’t simply that we were hungry; it was because we were camping. The real point I want to get to is that meals largely taste so good when I’m camping because I’m reminded of some things easily forgotten at home, where I can simply go to the cupboard, or the supermarket, and get whatever takes my fancy. Life, when you’re camping, is reduced to its essentials, and I am reminded of how lucky most of us are to be dry and warm and fed. More importantly, I am reminded that sadly, and in fact unforgivably, not all of us are. And I am reminded that we, as a society, should do better for them. 1.Why did Jared bring only rice for dinner on the trip? A.He didn’t like soy sauce. B.He preferred to travel light. C.He couldn’t afford a better meal. D.He enjoyed simple outdoor meals. 2.What does the underlined word “ravenous” in the third paragraph mean? A.Tired. B.Starving. C.Fulfilled. D.Refreshed. 3.What does the author think of camping? A.It is a test of adaptability. B.It is a chance to enjoy good food. C.It is a reminder of the good life he has. D.It is a bonding experience for his family. 4.What makes the author sad according to the last paragraph? A.Some people lack the basic necessities of life. B.Some people fail to appreciate what they have. C.People easily forget the beauty of simple things. D.People easily quit camping due to its discomfort. 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.C 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章通过讲述作者朋友旅行只带米饭以及家人露营的经历,阐述了露营时食物美味的原因,还引发了对生活的思考。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“This was not a result of him trying to pack as light as possible, nor was it because he was broke. He wasn’t. I tried to convince him to at least put soy sauce on it. But no, Jared wasn’t having a bar of it. ‘I don’t need it,’ he said flatly. (这并不是因为他尽量轻装上阵,也不是因为他身无分文。他不是。我试图说服他至少在米饭上加点酱油。但不行,贾里德根本不同意。“我不需要,”他直截了当地说)”可知,贾里德坚持只吃米饭,不是因为他尽量轻装上阵,不是因为他没钱吃不起更好的饭菜,文中也没有明确表示他不喜欢酱油,所以,他只吃米饭是因为他喜欢简单的户外餐食。故选D项。 2.词句猜测题。根据划线词所在部分“When you’re ravenous after a day of burning off calories walking or climbing or backcountry skiing in the mountains, how awesome do things taste! I know what you’re thinking; it’s simply that, as the saying goes, hunger is the best sauce. (当你在山里徒步、爬山或野外滑雪消耗了一天的卡路里后感到ravenous时,食物尝起来是多么美味啊!我知道你在想什么;俗话说,饥饿是最好的调味品)”中“after a day of burning off calories”和“hunger is the best sauce”可推知,经过一天的卡路里消耗后,会感到饥饿,食物会变得美味。故“ravenous”的意思是“饥饿的”,与B项“Starving”同义。故选B项。 3.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“The real point I want to get to is that meals largely taste so good when I’m camping because I’m reminded of some things easily forgotten at home, where I can simply go to the cupboard, or the supermarket, and get whatever takes my fancy. Life, when you’re camping, is reduced to its essentials, and I am reminded of how lucky most of us are to be dry and warm and fed. (我真正想说的是,当我在露营时,食物的味道很大程度上是如此的好,因为我想起了一些在家里很容易忘记的东西,在家里我可以简单地去橱柜或超市,买到我喜欢的任何东西。当你在露营时,生活只剩下最基本的东西,我想起我们大多数人都是多么幸运,能保持干燥、温暖和吃饱)”可知,作者认为露营能让他想起在家里很容易忘记的东西,想起自己所拥有的美好生活。故选C项。 4.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Life, when you’re camping, is reduced to its essentials, and I am reminded of how lucky most of us are to be dry and warm and fed. More importantly, I am reminded that sadly, and in fact unforgivably, not all of us are. And I am reminded that we, as a society, should do better for them. (当你在露营时,生活只剩下最基本的东西,我想起我们大多数人都是多么幸运,能保持干燥、温暖和吃饱。更重要的是,我想起了可悲的、事实上不可原谅的是,并非所有人都如此。我想起作为一个社会,我们应该为他们做得更好)”可知,作者想到并非所有人都能保持干燥、温暖和吃饱,作者因为想到一些人缺乏基本生活必需品而感到难过。故选A项。 Passage 3 (23-24高一下·山东青岛·期中) When I was 18, determined not to spend my last teenage year stuck in a village, I took off with an Australian friend and we traveled around Europe for months. We stayed in the cheapest accommodation we could find and live on bread. This was 1990, a time before mobile phones and the Internet, when the primary contact with home was the collection of mail from the post office. Before I left, Mom had made a money bag to wear around my neck. She’d also made me a sleeping sheet so I could avoid unclean bedding. She didn’t want me to go, and these gifts were her way of telling me to have a wonderful time. It’s only now, as my 18-year-old daughter is preparing to leave on her own gap year trip, that I have understood what Mom felt. Working many jobs and saving money, my daughter has researched where to stay, how to get around and what to do when she arrives. She seldom asks for my opinion and I don’t know whether I should back off or not. I want to be cool but not cold. I want to be like the perfect travel guide. When she first mentioned gap year travel, I was encouraging, wanting her to have her own experiences that shape her. I didn’t let myself think too much about her not being here. Our house has already got smaller in size and soon it will just be me, my son and the cat. And I’m not quite ready for that. But this trip is about her. This is not 1990 and I am not stuck at home waiting for a letter. I have promised not to upset her with messages, but at least I know she can contact me when she wants to. 1.What can we learn about the author’s travel in 1990? A.She traveled around Europe on her own. B.She bought clean bedding for a sound sleep. C.She had to budget carefully to afford the trip. D.She made calls to keep in touch with her mother. 2.How did the author’s mother feel about her travel plan? A.Excited. B.Proud. C.Angry. D.Concerned. 3.What troubles the author about her daughter’s gap year trip? A.Heavy pressure of money. B.Having no one to turn to for help. C.Wondering whether to get involved. D.Little knowledge about the destination. 4.What does the author decide to do? A.Move into a much larger house. B.Take a trip with her daughter. C.Contact her daughter by letter. D.Trust her daughter and let go. 【答案】1.C 2.D 3.C 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。通过作者对自己18岁时欧洲旅行经历的回顾,以及对照自己即将踏上间隔年旅行的女儿的准备情况,文中表达了作为母亲对孩子成长独立的复杂情感,包括理解、支持、不舍与放手之间的平衡。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中的“When I was 18, determined not to spend my last teenage year stuck in a village, I took off with an Australian friend and we traveled around Europe for months. We stayed in the cheapest accommodation we could find and live on bread. (当我18岁的时候,我决定不让我的最后一个青少年时期被困在一个村庄里,我和一个澳大利亚朋友起飞,我们在欧洲旅行了几个月。我们住在我们能找到的最便宜的住处,靠面包生活。)”和第二段中“This was 1990, a time before mobile phones and the Internet, when the primary contact with home was the collection of mail from the post office. (那是1990年,手机和互联网还没有出现的时候,人们与家的主要联系是从邮局收集邮件。)”可知,作者在1990年的旅行中必须精打细算才能负担得起这次旅行。故选C。 2.推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Before I left, Mom had made a money bag to wear around my neck. She’d also made me a sleeping sheet so I could avoid unclean bedding. She didn’t want me to go, and these gifts were her way of telling me to have a wonderful time. (在我离开之前,妈妈做了一个钱袋挂在我的脖子上。她还给我做了一张床单,这样我就可以避免不干净的被褥。她不想让我去,这些礼物是她告诉我玩得开心的方式。)”可知,作者的母亲对于她的旅行计划感到担忧。故选D。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段“Working many jobs and saving money, my daughter has researched where to stay, how to get around and what to do when she arrives. She seldom asks for my opinion and I don’t know whether I should back off or not. I want to be cool but not cold. I want to be like the perfect travel guide. (为了省钱,我的女儿做了很多工作,她研究了住在哪里,如何四处走走,到达后该做些什么。她很少征求我的意见,我不知道该不该退让。我想变酷,但不想变冷。我想成为完美的旅游指南。)”可知,关于女儿的间隔年旅行,作者在纠结是否应该介入或保持距离。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据最后一段“But this trip is about her. This is not 1990 and I am not stuck at home waiting for a letter. I have promised not to upset her with messages, but at least I know she can contact me when she wants to. (但这次旅行是为了她。现在不是1990年,我也没有被困在家里等信。我答应过她不发短信让她心烦,但至少我知道她想联系我的时候可以联系我。)”可知,作者决定信任女儿,放手让她去旅行,同时保持一种不打扰的支持状态。故选D。 主题05 人与自然——环境保护 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东名校考试联盟·期中) It started back in 2018 when Captain Brandon Upton was out in the gulf waters during a particularly cold afternoon, and he saw a dark shadow floating nearby. As the owner and operator of Sea Tow, a boating assistance company, Upton realized to his shock that they were sea turtles. “I didn’t touch it, because I know they are endangered and protected,” Upton told the media. “On my way in, I saw more and more sea turtles and was very confused. In all my years on the water, I had never seen anything like it.” Rather than take any actions himself, Upton did the right thing and contacted the animal authorities—in this case, the experts at San Padre Island National Seashore, who explained the turtles had been cold-stunned. Cold-stunning is a normal event in which the cold-blooded turtles fall into a still state if the seawater temperatures fall below 56°F. Their heart rate and metabolism (新陈代谢) drop sharply, and they float, unable to move. This puts them at risk for boat accidents, drowning, and even land animals that hunt them if the tide and waves should take them onto the beach. Every winter since then, Upton has remained watchful for possible cold-stunning events. If the water temperatures start to fall too low, Upton will bring an air-boat to pull alongside him, into which he will place any sea turtles he finds. San Padre Island workers receive these cold-stunned animals and place them in a recovery center where their bodies are slowly warmed up to the temperatures needed to restart their systems. Then they’re released. Upton described his 7 years of free help as “only natural” since he carries a lot of special equipment that makes rescuing turtles easy and is a proud part of the close boating community. He’s an animal lover as well, and whether it’s “taking a spider outside” or helping cold-stunned turtles, he considers them all like a second family. 1.Why did Upton contact the animal authorities? A.He lacked the necessary equipment. B.He feared of being punished by law. C.He needed to seek professional help. D.He wanted to draw the media’s attention. 2.What’s the purpose of paragraph 3? A.To describe sea turtles’ winter habit. B.To explain cold-stunning and its dangers. C.To show the importance of temperature. D.To criticize the harm of human activities. 3.Why are the turtles put in a recovery center? A.To do experiments. B.To ensure their survival. C.To provide a home. D.To set them free. 4.Which of the following can best describe Upton? A.Devoted and caring. B.Talented and curious. C.Ambitious and honest. D.Creative and determined. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.B 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了船长Upton救助冷休克的海龟的事迹。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Rather than take any actions himself, Upton did the right thing and contacted the animal authorities—in this case, the experts at San Padre Island National Seashore, who explained the turtles had been cold-stunned. (Upton没有自己采取任何行动,而是做了正确的事,联系了动物管理部门——在这种情况下,是圣帕德雷岛国家海岸的专家,他们解释说海龟是被冷休克了。)”可知,Upton联系动物管理部门是为了寻求专业帮助。故选C。 2.推理判断题。根据第三段中“Cold-stunning is a normal event in which the cold-blooded turtles fall into a still state if the seawater temperatures fall below 56°F. Their heart rate and metabolism (新陈代谢) drop sharply, and they float, unable to move. This puts them at risk for boat accidents, drowning, and even land animals that hunt them if the tide and waves should take them onto the beach. (冷休克是一种正常现象,当海水温度低于56°F时,冷血的海龟就会进入静止状态。它们的心率和新陈代谢急剧下降,漂浮着,无法移动。这使它们面临船只事故、溺水,甚至如果潮汐和海浪把它们带到海滩上,还会面临陆地动物的捕食风险。)”可知,第三段解释了冷休克是什么以及它给海龟带来的危险。故选B。 3.细节理解题。根据第四段中“San Padre Island workers receive these cold-stunned animals and place them in a recovery center where their bodies are slowly warmed up to the temperatures needed to restart their systems. Instead of seeking a finance career, she exchanged her business suit for the clothing of a farmer and went back to her hometown. Her decision was met with doubt, especially from her family who questioned why she would leave the promise of a high-paid career for the uncertainties of farming. In fact, Li Min desired to make agricultural practices modern as she saw the backwardness of traditional farming during the visits to her hometown. Upon returning to her village, Li Min also encountered disbelief from classmates and villagers alike. However, her promise to combine modern technology and new practices with agriculture soon proved transformative, allowing farmers to monitor crop growth through field sensors and smartphones, and make data-based decisions to improve productions and quality. She started with on-site sales of fruits and vegetables. Recognizing the instability (不稳定性) in the supply chain and the need for a more dependable system, Li Min developed the “Lai Cun Wang” rural (乡村的) e-business platform in 2015 to increase sales. By 2023, Li Min’s efforts had reached more areas, establishing over 200 rural service stations and creating jobs for thousands of families. Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东济宁市第一中学·期中) I was a student at the University of Cincinnati’s music academy, looking for something to do outside of musical harmony classes. Passage 3 (24-25高一下·山东省实验中学·期中) I was born into a family that was short on money but long on seeking knowledge. 主题02 人与社会——历史、社会与文化 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东威海A卷·期中) In June 2017, we began the trip of a lifetime, exploring the history of the Silk Road in China. A.A Tour along the Silk Road B.The Magic of the Silk Road C.A Silk Road Travel Guide D.The Silk Road Attractions 主题03 人与社会——文学、艺术与体育 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东菏泽A卷·期中) John Griffith Chaney, better known as Jack London, was one of the most popular American authors of his time. Wait a minute here.” Grandpa left, soon returning as though carrying something in his hand, but Mario could see nothing there. “Take it. It’s a very special chair. Mario was curious to know whether it was true or not, so he took the strange invisible chair and set off for school. At break time, he asked his classmates to form a circle, and then he put himself inside, with his chair. “Nobody moves! Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东菏泽B卷·期中) I was always terrible at sports, fearful of being the last one picked for the baseball team in the high school and frightened at the possibility that a ball might come to me and even worse, that I might have to catch it. Except he can really hit the ball. 1.What can be inferred about the author in paragraph 2? A.He wanted his sons to be independent. B.He was anxious about his parenting role. A.An Influential Class B.A Bookstore on Wheels C.A Specially-made Vehicle D.An Outstanding Retired Teacher 主题02 人与社会——历史、社会与文化 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东青岛·期中) In 2020, explorer Shears received enough funding for a search for Captain Shackleton’s lost ship the Endurance. Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东德州·期中) Last February, a trip to a Caribbean island unexpectedly changed my life — probably for the better. D.Neutral. 主题04 人与自我——做人与做事 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东潍坊·期中) Once, inspired by a chat with my cousin, I began writing stories on my iPad. Passage 2 (24-25高一下·山东泰安第一中学·期中) Jared was my regular hiking, ice-climbing and mountain-biking fellow. Passage 3 (23-24高一下·山东青岛·期中) When I was 18, determined not to spend my last teenage year stuck in a village, I took off with an Australian friend and we traveled around Europe for months. 主题05 人与自然——环境保护 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·山东名校考试联盟·期中) It started back in 2018 when Captain Brandon Upton was out in the gulf waters during a particularly cold afternoon, and he saw a dark shadow floating nearby. / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
