It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone’s face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn’t going to be another normal day, but a special one.
“Please calm down and sit,” said Mr Johnson. “I’m glad everyone’s here for the final reading test of the year.” When everyone cried, Mr Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. “You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks,” he added gently.
As we began our task, Mr Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, and others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, “When is break time?” Mr Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, “Break time starts… now!”
Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs Miller, appeared at the door. “Mr Johnson!” she cried out. A moment of silence fell over the room as we thought, “Mr Johnson might be in trouble.” However, to our surprise, Mrs Miller couldn’t help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break.
During break time, Mr Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him!
As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs Miller’s office. Someone joked, “Don’t play with the ice creams, Mr Johnson!” We all laughed together.

Do you know the best order to eat your meals? There is a simple and healthy way: eat vegetables first, then meat, and finally rice. Scientists in Japan watched 300 office workers for six months and found that people who followed this order lost one extra kilo and kept their blood sugar quieter than those who mixed everything together.
This eating order is good for our bodies. First, vegetables have a lot of fiber (纤维). When we eat them first, they make our stomach full quickly. A bowl of broccoli needs more chewing (咀嚼) time, so the brain has 10-15 minutes to send the “I’m not hungry” message. This helps us not eat too much other food later. Second, meat gives our body protein (蛋白质). Protein is very important for us to stay strong and repair muscles after exercise. Eating meat after vegetables can help us get just enough protein, not too much. Finally, rice can give us energy for our daily life. Eating it last means our stomach has less space, so we won’t eat too much rice at one time. One school in Thailand tried the new order for only three weeks and saw the students’ lunch bins full of extra rice drop by .
This way of eating is easy to follow every day. We don’t need to change the food we like. We just change the order of eating them. It is good for our body and helps us stay healthy. Remember, the colour on your plate matters too: the greener the first bite(一口), the better the day.
( ) 9. What is the healthy eating order according to the passage?
A. Rice vegetables meat
B. Vegetables meat rice
C. Meat vegetables rice
D. Vegetables rice meat
( ) 10. Why is eating vegetables first good for us?
A. They give lots of protein.
B. They make us full quickly.
C. They provide energy for daily life.
D. They need less chewing time.
( ) 11. What happened when the Thai school tried the new eating order?
A. Students ate more vegetables.
B. Students had less extra rice.
C. Students became stronger in three weeks.
D. Students’ blood sugar became unstable.
( )12.What can we learn from the passage?
A. We need to stop eating our favorite food.
B. Meat should be eaten before vegetables.
C. Eating green food first is good for us.
D. Mixing all food helps lose weight.

On September 12, 2025, a famous AI scientist and the CEO of Google DeepMind, Dr. Denis Hassabis, spoke to young people in Greece. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2024. He shared an important thought: “learning how to learn” will be the most valuable skill for young people in the future.
Dr. Hassabis explained that artificial intelligence (AI) is developing very quickly. It is changing our lives so fast that we cannot easily predict what the world will be like in ten years. However, one thing is clear: great changes are coming.
To get ready for these changes, students need to learn some key skills. These skills can help them learn how to learn. For example, they should know how to study new subjects effectively, manage their time well, and think carefully about information. With these abilities, they can keep learning new things all their lives.
AI can help people work faster and solve difficult problems. But students should not depend too much on AI. It is important for them to think independently and improve their own learning abilities.
Many schools around the world are now helping students prepare for a future with AI. They are teaching AI-related courses and encouraging students to try new technologies. The goal is to help young people become creative and confident learners.
In short, as AI keeps developing, the ability to learn how to learn will become more and more important. By mastering this skill, students can stay curious, welcome changes, and succeed in the future.
( ) 13. What did Dr. Denis Hassabis tell young people is the most useful skill for the future?
A. Using AI to do all work:
B. Learning how to learn.
C. Only studying AI courses.
D. Predicting the future easily.
( ) 14. Why do students need to learn key skills?
A. To depend more on AI.
B. To prepare for changes from AI.
C. To win the Nobel Prize.
D. To become company CEOs.
( ) 15. What can AI help people do?
A. Work faster and solve hard problems.
B. Stop learning new things.
C. Change the world slowly.
D. Predict the future well.
( ) 16. Why are many schools offering AI-related courses?
A. To replace teachers with AI.
B. To help students know the future exactly.
C. To let students forget their own learning skills.
D. To make students creative and confident learners.
