Are there any lakes in your hometown? What colour are they? According to a study, about one third of the world’s lakes are blue. But global warming may lead them to turn green or even brown, and countries with most lakes may be influenced the most. If the temperature continues to rise, one in every ten lakes might change colour.
Xiao Yang from a university in the US and his team analyzed (分析) the colour of more than 85,000 lakes based on the satellite photos taken from 2020 to 2024. The study found lakes in areas with summer temperatures below 19℃ are more likely to be blue than warmer areas. According to the research, the colour of a lake is partly decided by what’s in the water. Water molecules (分子) take in the long wavelengths (波长) of sunlight, such as red and yellow, leaving behind the shorter ones. This makes the water look green or blue. In short, the cleaner the water is, the bluer it looks.
Lakes are an important part of our environment. Their colour is one of the oldest ways to tell if an ecosystem is healthy. Humans get their drinking water from lakes, rivers, and groundwater. As they become greener, people may lose lots of clean water. Because of this, dealing with the water will probably cost more. At the same time, blue lakes are also places that help people stay peaceful. Some countries even consider blue lakes as spiritual (精神的) places. As these lakes disappear or change colour, people may feel upset.
21.What’s the main reason that changes the colour of lakes?
A.A rise in temperature. B.A drop in fish numbers.
C.More sunlight during the day. D.An increase in the lake’s depth.
22.What can we infer from the text about lakes in areas with summer temperatures above 19℃?
A.They are always blue.
B.They are more likely to be green.
C.They provide cleaner drinking water.
D.They are not influenced by global warming.
23.What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A.Why it is important for people to protect the environment.
B.What different countries do to keep their lakes clean.
C.How water molecules absorb long wavelengths of sunlight.
D.Why cleaner lakes seem to be much bluer than dirtier ones.
24.What is a possible result if lakes become greener?
A.More people will go swimming in them.
B.The water molecules will take in more sunlight.
C.They will become important spiritual places.
D.It may cost more to deal with the water.
25.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.Satellite photos are useful for analyzing lakes.
B.Lakes are important sources of drinking water.
C.Global warming may cause lakes to change colour.
D.Blue lakes have spiritual meaning in some countries.

Growing up is not always easy. When we face difficulties, we should never give up. It is easy to give up when you are sick or tired. But the words of my father always stay in my mind: “No matter what happens, you should believe in yourself. Everything will get better if you keep trying.”
Last year, I nearly gave up my English learning. I was very afraid of making mistakes. I was afraid to speak English in class because I worried about being laughed at. My teacher noticed my problem and had a long talk with me. She told me that everyone was shy when they started learning something new. She encouraged me to practice speaking English as much as possible.
I took my teacher’s advice. I started reading English stories aloud every morning. I also tried to talk with my classmates in English. Gradually, I found it was not so difficult to learn English. I made great progress. When I got an A in the last exam, I felt so happy.

Nowadays, more and more students have poor eyesight. There are many reasons for this problem. First, students spend too much time looking at phones, computers or TV screens. Third, many students don’t do eye exercises regularly, which can help relax the eyes.
To protect our eyes, we should limit screen time to less than one hour a day. We should also read in bright places and keep a distance of 30-40 centimeters from the book. Doing eye exercises twice a day is also necessary. If we follow these rules, we can keep our eyes healthy.

A lot of people take up dancing as a hobby after work. In fact, dancing has been seen as one of the best exercises to fight bad feelings in recent years.
Why is dancing so helpful? Dancing, moving the body to different kinds of music, helps the body produce more endorphin (内啡肽), a chemical (化学物质) that makes people feel relaxed and happy.
While simply listening to music or doing sports can cheer us up, mixing them together has a stronger effect. In a study, German scientists tested some patients under three conditions: dancing to music, only listening to music, and riding bikes without music. The results showed that the dancing group felt the least sad. This tells us that dancing is more than just moving around—it truly lifts our spirits.
Dancing can also bring people closer. Social dances like tango and Latin need us to move with others, which improves our sense of social connection according to IBSA, a Swiss scientific organization. Through eye contact, people feel more trust and closeness.
▲ Studies show that depression (抑郁症) often has to do with sadness about the past or worries about the future. Dancing helps people focus on the present, connect with their bodies, and free their minds for a while, as reported by Psych Central, a mental health news website. When we dance, we stop overthinking and start feeling. This makes it an excellent way to enjoy the present moment without even trying.
Lauren Helper, an American social worker, says dancing is a helpful way to reduce stress. It can be any form—whether it’s moving alone around the house to a song or going out dancing with friends. “The most important thing is that the movement is fun. You don’t need to be a perfect dancer. Just turn on some music, move your body, and enjoy the moment. That’s the real magic of dance.” she told Psych Central.
56.What can help you the most when you are sad according to the study?
A.Attending a concert. B.Talking to a friend. C.Dancing to music. D.Riding a bike.
57.Why do people take up dancing after work?
A.To kill time. B.To learn new skills. C.To make more friends. D.To fight against bad feelings.

A.But dancing is not only good for our body.
B.Dancing can also help people forget their problems.
C.Dancing also helps people let go of bad feelings.
D.But dancing is not the only way to feel better.

59.What is the correct structure of the passage?
