There are two different kinds of peer pressure.
Positive peer pressure is when you feel pressured to do something good. You might do something that is good for you, good for others, or good for the environment. When I was a little girl, sometimes some boys called me terrible names.” Ollie looked up and asked, “Why did they do that?” “Some children could be unkind, especially if they don’t feel good about themselves. Is that your problem?” It took Ollie a long time to reply. “Yes, it is. They call me Mini-Me, just because I’m a bit small. And two boys often push me around... and it hurts.”
Mum asked, “ Did you tell your teacher?” “No. That would make things worse.” “Bullying is wrong, Ollie. Maybe we can talk to your teacher together.” Ollie thought for a long time and finally decided to have a try.
Ollie and her mum met up with Ollie’s teacher after school, with nobody around. The teacher was glad that Ollie told her all about it.
The next day at school, Ollie’s teacher told the class, “A lot of schools have ‘No Bullying’ projects. I’d like to start one in our school.” Ollie’s teacher started their project: Speak Up, Stand Up! 2025-2026学年第二学期八年级英语第一次月考测试卷
学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________
1.According to the new rule in Nanjing, people ________ if they drop litter in public places.
A.fine B.will fine C.are fined D.will be fined
2.A lot of trees ________ in our school yard every spring to make the environment better.
A.are planted B.planted C.plant D.were planted
【答案】A
故选A。
3.These photos always remind me ________ my happy childhood.
A.for B.to C.of D.on
for为了;to到;of……的;on在……上。根据“These photos always remind me...my happy childhood.”可知,此处是“remind sb. of sth.”
4.—How often do I need to feed my dog Chihuahua?
—Chihuahua is easily hungry. It ________ food every day, or it will be hungry.
A.might be given B.should give C.must be given D.can be given
might be given可能被给予;should give应该给予(主动语态);must be given必须被给予;can be given可以被给予。根据前文“Chihuahua is easily hungry.”
5.Don’t worry if you _______ the first time. Practice makes perfect.
A.succeed B.fail C.win D.pass
6.He was ________ tired ________ he fell asleep on the desk.
A.too; to B.so; that C.such; that D.enough; to
too…to太……而不能……,to后接动词原形;so…that如此……以至于……,so后接形容词或副词,that引导从句;such;…that如此…… 根据第一空后是形容词“tired”且第二空后是完整从句“he fell asleep”可知,应用so...that...结构。故选B。
7.—Why didn’t you attend the New Year’s party yesterday?
—Because it ________ due to the sudden heavy snow.
A.cancel B.canceled C.was canceled D.is canceled
8.—When shall we go to watch the basketball match in the sports centre?
—Not until my task ________.
A.will complete B.will be completed C.complete D.is completed
9.Frank promised ________ in 15 minutes and took out his book once more.
A.follow B.to follow C.followed D.following
promise to do sth.“承诺做某事”,固定搭配;因此,这里应用动词不定式to follow。故选B。
10.—I want to give away some books to the children in the village.
—Me too. Books ________ very much there.
A.need B.are needing C.are needed D.is needed

根据“Peer pressure is when one or more peers make you feel pressured to do something, you feel you have to do that thing, because one or more of your peers are doing it, or are trying to convince you to do it.” A项“Bob has a famous T-shirt and you also want to buy one.” 故选A。
根据“Positive peer pressure is when you feel pressured to do something good. You might do something that is good for you, good for others, or good for the environment.”可知,积极的同伴压力是促使人做有益于自己、他人或环境的事情,B项“when you want to volunteer to help others”符合描述。故选B。
根据第三段“If a friend tries to pressure you to do something, you might feel you should do it to please your friend.”以及“People often want to fit in with their peers and don’t feel they may stand out because they are different in some way.”和“Sometimes people are afraid others will make fun of them if they do not do what everyone else is doing.”

Wang Yu works as a programmer at an Internet company in Hangzhou. About seven years ago, shortly after he started his job there, he began a part-time job in software development. He thought it would have a bright future. As expected, his part-time job quickly took off. In the second year, he had so many orders that he had to build a team.

根据第一段“Today, many young people use their free time to do part-time jobs. Wang Yifei is one of them. She starts her day at 7 am... From 10 am to 7 pm, she works at a big company... After getting home at 8 pm, she keeps writing until late at night.” 故选A。
根据第三段王艺霏的话“A part-time job gives you a plan B in life... It also helps you feel better about yourself... My part-time job has also opened up a new world for me.”
根据“As expected, his part-time job quickly took off. In the second year, he had so many orders that he had to build a team.”

“I don’t want to go to school, Mum. I feel a bit sick.” “If you have a school problem, just tell me.
All the children agreed that the rules were great: Tell an adult if you see bullying; Stand up for others.
The school is becoming a much nicer place for all the children. Nobody knows the reason.

33.Did Mum have the same problem when she was little?
34.How did the teacher feel after Ollie told her all about it?
35.Why is the school becoming a much nicer place now?
32.They called her Mini-Me./They pushed her around. 33.Yes, she did. 34.She was glad. 35.Because of the project.
32.根据“They call me Mini-Me, just because I’m a bit small. And two boys often push me around...” They called her Mini-Me./They pushed her around.

34.根据“The teacher was glad that Ollie told her all about it.” She was glad.
35.根据“Ollie’s teacher started their project…The school is becoming a much nicer place for all the children.” Because of the project.
