Life was very different at Scott’s home. Scott lived with his father, a judge (法官), his mother, and his sister. There were other animals as well, such as cats and chickens. White Fang had to learn that the other people in the house were friends and that he must not attack (攻击) the chickens or cats.
One day, he killed fifty of the birds. Scott was angry with White Fang. He did not beat him badly, but he pushed his head at the dead birds and hit White Fang at the same time. This way, White Fang knew he had done wrong.
“The animal is a wolf,” Scott’s father said. “You’ll never teach him not to kill chickens.”
“He won’t attack another chicken,” Scott said. “Will you make a bet with me ”
The judge agreed, and the two men had a bet.
“I’ll lock White Fang in the chicken house,” Scott said. “He can stay there all night. In the morning, not one chicken will be dead”.
And this was what happened. White Fang behaved as if there were no chickens in the chicken house. He had learned his lesson.
By this time, everyone in Scott’s family liked White Fang. They felt safe with him because he knew them, even though he was not a “house dog.”
After Scott came back home from the Yukon, a dangerous man appeared. His name was Jim Hall, and he had killed many men. He wanted to kill the judge who had sent him to prison(监狱). This was Scott’s father.

The noise woke everyone up. The police came and took Jim Hall back to prison. White Fang’s wounds were very bad, and he was dying. Scott sent for a doctor who looked at White Fang and said, “He has only one chance in a thousand of living.”
The doctor did everything he could for White Fang, but he lost a lot of blood. He had a broken leg, and there were bullet holes in his chest. But as the days passed, White Fang slowly got better. He lived, but he could not fight again. He lived the rest of his life quietly with Scott and his family, a much gentler and much loved wolf-dog.

(热点话题)Spring is the season of flowers, and one of the most beautiful and beloved spring flowers is the cherry blossom. Cherry blossoms are soft, delicate flowers that are usually light pink or white. In China, many people love to go out in March and April to look at these flowers, an activity called "shǎng yīng" (cherry blossom viewing). It is a time to enjoy nature's beauty with family and friends.
A Little History
Cherry blossoms are not only beautiful but also have a long history. Many people think cherry blossoms are only from Japan, but they have a deep history in China too. According to historical records, cherry blossoms grew in China over 2,000 years ago, during the Qin and Han Dynasties. They were planted in royal gardens for the emperors to enjoy. Later, during the Tang Dynasty, cherry blossom viewing became popular among poets and scholars. They wrote many famous poems about the flowers, comparing their short, beautiful life to the fleeting nature of time and beauty. The tradition of planting and enjoying cherry blossoms has continued in China for centuries.
Great Places to See Cherry Blossoms in China
Wuhan University in Hubei Province is a very famous place for seeing cherry blossoms. The university has a long "Cherry Blossom Avenue" with many old trees. Some of the trees were gifts from friends in other countries many years ago. When the flowers are open, the pink and white petals make the old red-brick school buildings look like a painting. The best time to go is from mid-March to early April, when thousands of visitors walk under the "flower sky."
Another wonderful place is Jiming Temple Road in Nanjing, Jiangsu. This is a long, straight road with hundreds of cherry trees lining both sides. In spring, the trees in full bloom form a stunning pink tunnel. The road leads to the ancient Jiming Temple, making the scenery both natural and historical. Many people walk there, have picnics, and take pictures. The best time to visit is from mid to late March.
In Wuxi, Jiangsu, there is a beautiful park called Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Isle) by the huge Taihu Lake. This park is famous for its more than 30,000 cherry trees of different types! It is one of the biggest and most famous cherry blossom spots in China. Every year, the park holds a big Cherry Blossom Festival with lights, music, and food. When the wind blows, the falling petals look like pink snow, which is a magical sight. The best viewing time is from late March to early April.
If you are in the north, you can go to Zhongshan Park in Qingdao, Shandong. This park is right by the sea. It has a long, peaceful path with cherry trees on both sides. You can see the soft pink flowers against the blue sea and sky, which is a very special view. The best time to go is from early to mid-April, a little later than in the south because it's cooler in the north.
58. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How cherry blossom festivals are organized.
B. The weather differences between north and south China.
C. The history of cherry blossoms and popular places to see them in China.
D. Why cherry blossoms are the national flower of Japan.
59. According to the history part, when did cherry blossom viewing become popular among poets in China?
A. During the Qin Dynasty. B. During the Han Dynasty.

(原创题)For years, Lee Kyong Min's life was about taking her two daughters from school to cram schools and then home. Almost every parent she knew did the same. Their goal was the same: to make sure their children could get into the best universities in South Korea.
The most important choice was about the hagwons, or private cram schools. In these schools, students take extra classes in subjects like math, Korean, and English. They do this to prepare for South Korea's very difficult college entrance exam. Ms. Lee and her husband tried to find the best hagwons for their children.
Seven days a week, Ms. Lee waited for her daughters late at night in cafes. The cafes were full of other waiting parents. Sometimes, she saw very young children with schedules so busy that they had to do their homework and eat dinner in the cafes before running to their next class.
This kind of extra education is everywhere in South Korea. It became common in the 1990s when the country needed more people with university degrees for office jobs. But now, many people in South Korea worry about this system. They think the competition to get good grades is too much. Many parents want to know if there is another way.
Ms. Lee always told her daughters that studying hard was necessary. She said good grades meant more opportunities, and opportunities meant a happy life. But she started to doubt this when her older daughter, who was about 8 years old, asked her, "Mom, were you a bad student?" Ms. Lee understood that her daughter thought she was not happy. This made her very sad.
Now, Ms. Lee and many other parents in South Korea are asking themselves: What kind of life and happiness are we showing our children? Today, 80% of school-aged students in South Korea go to some kind of private extra class. Even though there are fewer children, the business of these classes grew to a record $20.3 billion in 2024.
Children are starting to go to cram schools at a younger age. In some parts of Seoul, even 4-year-old children take tests to get into English preschools. Some children start preparing for medical school in elementary school.
These new situations worry many people. Even in South Korea, a country used to hard study competition, people are alarmed. South Korea's human rights commission said that giving such important tests to very young children is not right.
Some lawmakers say hagwons are causing mental health problems for young people. They say they will try to change things. But as Ms. Lee found out, changing this system is not easy.
62. What is the main goal of most parents sending their children to hagwons?
A. To help their children make more friends.
B. To give their children a happy childhood.
C. To prepare their children for the college entrance exam.
D. To let their children learn art and music.
63. Why did Ms. Lee start to doubt her belief about studying hard?
A. Her daughters got very good grades.
B. Her older daughter asked if she was a bad student.
C. The hagwon teachers were not good.
D. She found a better way to educate her children.
64. What is a new, worrying trend mentioned in the passage?
A. Hagwons are becoming cheaper.
B.Parents are no longer waiting for their children in cafes.
C. Fewer students are going to university.
D. Children are starting to go to hagwons at a younger age.
65. What is the main problem that the hagwon system is causing, according to the passage?
A. It is bad for children's mental health and makes them too stressed.
B. It costs too much money for families.
C. It makes children dislike their parents.
D. It makes it harder for children to find jobs after university.

Good morning, boys and girls. Today we’ll take a trip to some countries online. Take out your mobile phones, let’s start!
The first country is South Africa. The weather here is very comfortable, with warm and sunny days for most of the year. The summer is from November to February, and the weather is really hot and wet at this time. Next is Greece. The best time to visit Greece is from April to June. If you just want to sit on a beach and see the beautiful sunshine every day, then August is the perfect month. Then we are in Australia. It’s winter in July and August here. The hottest months are from November to March. The best time to go there is in September or October. That’s all for today’s trip. Travelling online is easy and fast, but I think spending a lot of time on the screen is bad for your eyes. Is that right?

One night, Jim Hall got into the house and planned to shoot (射击) the judge while he slept. However, White Fang saw the strange man. He knew that this man was not a friend and leapt at him. A fight went on for a long time. Jim Hall shot White Fang several times, but White Fang would not let him go.

答案:A
细节理解题,第一段第一句“Scott lived with his father, a judge, his mother, and his sister.”
文中提到“He wanted to kill the judge who had sent him to prison.”
c. 白牙与吉姆·霍尔搏斗并受伤 → 在霍尔闯入后发生,对应“White Fang saw the strange man…leapt at him…was shot several times…”
b. 白牙在治疗后慢慢好转 → 医生治疗后,对应最后一段“as the days passed, White Fang slowly got better…”。
C

【答案】62.C 63.B 64.D 65.A
细节理解题,答案定位在第一段最后一句“Their goal was the same: to make sure their children could get into the best universities in South Korea.” 和第二段第三句“They do this to prepare for South Korea's very difficult college entrance exam.”
干扰项分析:A(帮助孩子交朋友)、B(给孩子一个快乐童年)、D(让孩子学习艺术音乐)文中均未提及,也非家长的主要意图。
答案:B

干扰项分析:A(女儿们成绩很好)、C(补习班老师不好)、D(她找到了更好的教育方法)在文中均未提及。
答案:D

干扰项分析:A(补习班变得更便宜)、B(父母不再在咖啡馆等孩子)、C(更少学生上大学)文中均未提及。
答案:A
D(使孩子大学毕业后更难找工作):文中未提及。

Hello, everyone. I'm Li Xin. More and more people have a reading habit. So do I. I like reading very much. Because I think it can open up a new world for me. I can also learn more from it.
I like reading books in the school library. There are different kinds of books in it. When travelling, I enjoy reading on the plane to kill time. Now we not only read paper books, but also read e-books. I prefer to read paper books. Because spending too much time on screen is bad for my eyes. Our family all like reading books, especially my grandfather. He likes reading books about travelling. Among the books, I like history books best. Because I can learn more about Chinese culture. I always read books at least half an hour before bedtime.
So if you like reading, take action from now on.
