Passage 3[2025铁一中四模]
Cherries are one of China's favorite fruits. This winter,
you can see them in almost every fruit shop. Most of these
dark red, juicy fruits come from Chile by ship. The trip takes
about 30 days. Have you ever wondered how they stay fresh for so long?
The secret is a technology called Controlled Atmosphere(CA). Fruits
and vegetables still “breathe” after they are picked. In a normal place,
they react with the air, which makes them go bad faster. Microorganisms
(微生物) in the air also make them spoil* more quickly.#3
13
But CA technology creates a safer place for fruits and vegetables. It
reduces the oxygen(O 2 ) level in the storage** area. This slows down the
fruits' activities. At the same time, it adds more carbon dioxide(CO 2 ),
and sometimes a little nitrogen(N 2 ). The temperature and humidity*** are
also changed to “put the fruits to sleep”. But how did this technology
develop over time?
The idea of CA technology is not new. It started in the 1800s. In
the 1920s, Franklin Kidd and Cyril West from Cambridge University
studied how fruits breathe. This led to the first apple storage using “gas
storage” in 1929. Later, Robert Smock from Cornell University made the
technology better. He wanted to make local apples last longer, and his
work helped McIntosh apples stay fresh until spring.
Today, CA technology is used in many ways. It helps keep products
fresh in cold storage places, food packaging and even the flower industry.
It makes sure that fruits, food and flowers stay fresh for a long time, even
after traveling far.#6

Nowadays, there are many great inventions around us.
They make our lives better in amazing ways. One of them
is called “Tianmouc”—the world's first smart chip(芯片)
that works like our eyes and brains. A team from Tsinghua University
made it!
Passage 4[2025临沂改编]
19
Tianmouc gets an idea from how our human eyes and brains work
together. First, our eyes see things around us. Then, our brains understand
them. Tianmouc does something similar! It uses special sensors(传感器)
to break down what it sees into tiny parts. Then, Tianmouc puts them
together in two ways. One is by seeing colors and details clearly as if
we read a book. The other is by reacting(回应) to sudden changes
quickly, just like we catch a ball.
Tianmouc is really powerful. It can do things that traditional chips
can't. For example, it's able to collect what it sees at a very high speed
of 10,000 frames(帧) per second. In some ways, it sees things more
exactly than our eyes. The chip can work well in different light conditions
—no matter how bright or dark the light is. All of these are achieved
with very little power or energy.
Tianmouc has a big influence on our daily lives. For self-driving cars,
they need to “see” the road clearly and react quickly to any danger. Tianmouc
can notice sudden changes quickly, like a child running across the road or
a car suddenly cutting in. For the cameras, they will react faster by catching
any unusual movement in the future.
Inventions like Tianmouc show how creative the humans can be! They
are making our lives safer and more convenient. Who knows what amazing
inventions we'll see next?#2.4

Passage 5[2025云南改编]
Imagine that a cool bamboo-like grass can be used to make green
energy. Scientists at Landuo Biotech, a business in Wuhan, have created
one such plant recently. They named it “super giant reed(超级芦竹)”.
Since 2012, the Landuo team have collected over 1,000 wild giant
reeds for experiments. In Landuo's factory, hundreds of young reeds are
grown in glass bottles. Fully grown, the super giant reeds are cut and
put in a special place without O 2 . The Landuo team heat them up to make
natural gas, which can then be used for energy.
25
Thanks to the scientists' efforts, super giant reed has a biomass (生物
量) three times that of wild giant reed. A kilogram of super giant reed
also has 4,000 to 4,500 kilocalories(千卡) of energy. So, super giant reed
is a great choice for taking the place of fossil fuels(化石燃料).
What's more, growing super giant reed helps a lot. 40 million hectares
of super giant reed can be used instead of 2.2 billion (1 billion=1,000
million) tons of coal and can cut CO 2 emissions(排放) by 4 billion tons
in China every year.
Super giant reed is also well-suited for growing on some land like
beaches, wetlands and salty lands. Once a reed is planted, it can be cut
and used many times during the next 15 to 20 years. By the end of 2024,
over 3,300 hectares of super giant reed had been planted across 53 areas
in China.#5
1. What is the right order according to Paragraph 2? ___
a. The super giant reeds are cut by the Landuo team.
b. The super giant reeds are heated up to make natural gas.
c. The Landuo team grow lots of young super giant reeds in glass bottles.
d. The Landuo team put the super giant reeds in a special place without
O 2 .

Passage 6
When you meet with animals, do you wonder what they're thinking?
People know animals do have feelings, 1. ___ In recent years, scientists
have done research about the feelings of cows, frogs and pandas. A new
study adds chickens to the list. It says that humans can tell whether a
chicken is happy or sad by listening to its calls.
2. ___ Inside the bowl, sometimes, there was something chickens love
to eat, such as rice or insects. Sometimes, there was nothing. When the
chickens saw food behind the door, they seemed happy and produced
B

fast and loud sounds known as food calls. When there wasn't food, the
chickens made low and long noises to express disappointment. 3. ___
Then the researchers chose 16 recordings of such chicken noises.
Half were from the chickens seeing the food and half were from the
chickens finding no food. The recordings were played to 194 volunteers.
Sixty-nine percent of the volunteers correctly understood whether the
chickens were feeling happy or not, 4. ___
C
D
The result shows that humans have the natural ability to understand
the feelings of chickens. Hopefully, this finding can bring about new
technology to help with chicken-raising which is a big industry in many
countries. 5. ___ This is good news for farmers who want to make their
chickens happier and healthier.#1.3
E
A. The researchers put a bowl behind a door.
B. but they are not sure if these feelings are correctly understood.
C. The researchers recorded all these sounds and studied their waves.
D. and some of them even had no experience of taking care of chickens.
E. Some scientists are already working on a smart computer program that
can identify(识别) chickens' feelings.

Do you still remember the robots in the Yangge
dance performance at the 2025 Spring Festival Gala?
They were made by a robotics company in Hangzhou.
The company has now developed a new human-like
robot called the G1 Bionic Robot*. Compared with earlier robots, it can
walk and run on different types of ground.
Passage 7
34
In the past, human-like robots had a hard time walking on rough**
ground. When we walk, we stretch out(伸出) one leg, lean(前俯) forward
a bit, and move the other leg forward fast. But when a two-legged robot
does this on rough ground, it can easily lose its balance and fall.
The G1 Bionic Robot solves this problem with some high-tech
devices(装置). Its sensors and a special camera act together as powerful
eyes. The sensors use lasers(激光器) to help it see all around it in 360
degrees. And the camera tells it how far away things are. Besides, the robot
has motors on its joints. The motors change how hard it pushes its legs,
helping it stay balanced and avoid falling.
On top of that, the robot has built-in AI. Its developers filmed
humans moving across different types of ground. The AI has learned
from these videos. It can control the robot to move in the same way. In
a video from the company, the robot walks and runs across train tracks
and over rocks. It even goes up and down hills. The robot can reach
speeds of up to 7.2 kilometers per hour. That's faster than most people
can walk. Way to go, G1!
*“Bionic Robot” means “仿生机器人”in Chinese.
**“rough” means having a surface that is not smooth.#2.5
1.What is the advantage of the G1 Bionic Robot compared with earlier
robots?
It is able to ______________ on different types of ground.
walk and run
2. Which paragraph matches the picture on the right?
