Passage 1
When I was a teenager, I used to listen to heavy metal and hard rock music while studying. It allowed me to silence the disturbing sounds of the TV in the living room of our small home.
However, as I grew older, I started to move away from loud, intense music, and gradually into slower and calmer music. Then accidentally, I discovered minimalism. As a musician and composer myself, I started my own minimalist adventure. As the years went by, other pieces of the minimalist philosophy started to fall into place: minimalist films, literature, architecture, etc.
Eventually, I decided that it was time to part with my hectic life that was full of various things to deal with, important or unimportant. I quit my job and became a writer at first. Gradually, I found inner peace and only focused on what was important. The last piece of the puzzle came when my wife and I decided to become digital nomads We left our house behind, sold the stuff we’d been accumulating for years, packed up our stuff in a suitcase, and moved to a different country: Estonia. There we set up our own business that we could manage without any trouble as we traveled the world.
I think the final minimalist achievement is living only with what you can carry with you. Now I travel the world with what I carry in my suitcase. So I live the laptop life. Everything I strictly need is in my bag.
Minimalism has taken away piles of things that place burdens on us — psychological ones, emotional ones, etc. Apart from the pure physical accumulation of stuff, there are other circumstances where the “Less Is More” principle can simplify your life. Keeping things simple is useful at work or in our life in general.
1.Why did the author listen to heavy metal and hard rock music while studying? (no more than 10 words)
2.How did the author react after he discovered minimalism? (no more than 5 words)
3.What does the underlined word in Paragraph 3 mean? (1 word)
4.What is the author’s life like right now? (no more than 15 words)
5.Would you like to live a life of minimalism? Why or why not? (no more than 20 words)
Passage 2
(2026·天津·一模)I loved swimming, but I tended to stick to the surface for fear of drowning. My dad told me that to be an ocean biologist, which was my dream, I needed to learn scuba diving But the idea of going deep under the water with weights dragging me down and a nonrenewable (非可再生的) air source on my back was very scary. However, my dad would not take no for an answer. He found a Discover Scuba class and signed me up to get my certification. He pushed me to go to every class.
Finally, the certification test came. When showing one skill of diving, I needed to have my air tank disconnected with me temporarily. But when it happened, I panicked and floated to the surface. It was what I was not supposed to do. The dive master, Mark, followed me, calmed me, and patiently guided me. I couldn’t have gotten my Open Water Diver certification but for Mark’s help.
After getting the certification, my dad took me to go diving to sharpen my skills. One trip was quite significant. I was resting at a depth of fifteen feet underwater. A school of fish stayed behind me. Then a sea lion appeared and swam straight toward me. I thought, “Please don’t attack me!” About a foot from my face, the sea lion turned and swam away and I was out of the woods. This experience let me learn more about sea creatures and encouraged me to have more scuba adventures.
And I earned a few more certifications later. Out of all my trips of diving, I especially liked those in the Galápagos Islands. The park fees were expensive, but it was worthwhile to visit them. We could view many other unusual sea creatures. We dived four times a day. We saw different types of sharks. Morayeels (海鳗) stuck their heads out of their hiding places in the rocks. We dived with penguins and dolphins.
There is nothing like diving in the Galápagos Islands. If my dad hadn’t pushed me at the beginning and forced me to face my fears, I wouldn’t have had these amazing experiences and stories to tell.
6.How did the author respond to his father’s suggestion on learning scuba diving initially? (no more than 5 words)
7.What played an important role in the author’s getting his Open Water Diver certification? (no more than 10 words)
8.What does the underlined part in paragraph 3 mean most probably? (no more than 5 words)

Passage 4
My brother and I were driving home together and started talking. Because of this distraction, my brother took a wrong turn.
Unfortunately, the wrong turn took us toward a bridge and, we had no way of turning back. My brother had to pay to cross. He was clearly thwarted by the mistake and the needless waste of $4.
As we drove forward, my brother noticed a beat-up (破旧的) black Mustang (福特野马汽车) pulled over to the side of the road. A young guy was standing nearby trying to phone someone. I was busy trying to figure out which way we went next but my brother pulled over and asked the guy if he needed any help. And he did. He had a flat tire.
My brother helped him change the flat. We started getting to know the young man who was from a rough neighborhood nearby. He said that this has been a bad week for him; earlier he had gotten into a minor car accident, and now this flat on his way home from work. But he called us “a breath of fresh air” and kept thanking us because he really would have been stuck if we hadn’t come along. After we had finished the job, he thanked us again and pulled out $20 to try to give it to us. “No,” I said. “We were never supposed to even get on that bridge. We took a wrong turn. But now we know why we did. It was to help you. Thank you for turning our mistake into an opportunity to serve.”
What I loved most was watching my brother throughout this process. He was able to turn his annoyance over the mistake into positive energy. He was able to see a chance to help (which I totally missed!) even in an otherwise negative situation, which can only come from a calm mind and an open heart. That was the bridge we were meant to cross.

Passage 5
“Why are people so unfriendly?”
I often asked myself this after my daily walks, which began 5 years ago and continued into retirement.
Maybe it was the early hour, or maybe people were simply having a bad day. For a long time, I blamed cellphones and social media. Didn’t people realize that talking to strangers can lead to a happier life?
One day, my partner, tired of hearing me complain, said, “Maybe it’s you.” Impossible, I thought. Just that morning, I had looked directly at someone and got no “hello” back. So rude!
But then I realized that maybe I needed to push myself out of my introverted (内向的) shell. So I tried an experiment. On each walk, I picked someone with a dog and said a simple “hello”. To my surprise, it worked. Most people smiled or even chatted briefly. Once, I was even given a piece of kibble (粗磨食物) to feed a dog!
Encouraged, I started greeting people who made eye contact. Later I went further, saying “good day” even without eye contact. About three out of four times, I got a kind reply.
Then I moved on to people talking on their phones. At first, I was ignored. My second try got a small grunt (嘟哝). But on the third attempt, the person actually paused to say “hi”. Over two weeks, between these phone tries and my usual greetings, I noticed something important: People were getting friendlier. Or maybe it wasn’t them — it was me. My own change in behavior was making the difference.
Of course, I use common sense. I don’t greet everyone, and some days I feel less outgoing. But usually, I now say hello whether people look at me or not. Most respond positively. And even if they don’t, what the hey. I always end my walk feeling better.
The habit has spread beyond my walks. At the store, in restaurants, and even at the gym, I now talk to strangers. I don’t expect lifelong friends, just small moments of connection.
It’s simple: Treat others the way you want to be treated. And remember, someone has to make the first move.
21.Why did the author begin to blame cellphones and social media? (no more than 10 words)
22.How did the author feel when his first greeting experiment worked? (no more than 5 words)

Passage 6
For two decades, the rhythm of José Luis-Reig’s life was filled with the daily routine of stacking shelves at his family’s supermarket in Pollenca, Mallorca. Known to everyone as Pep, he seemed content with his trade, burying his love for learning beneath boxes of goods. He never gave a second thought to the academic world he had left behind — until a family trip changed everything.
While touring mainland universities with his teenage daughters, Pep stepped into the lecture halls. Suddenly, surrounded by books and the atmosphere of learning, he felt an unexpected and deep sense of belonging. It was a feeling of coming home to a place he had never lived in.
This feeling brought back a hidden regret. Years ago, Pep had planned to get a biology degree, but family duty called. He gave up his dreams to save the family business — a sawmill he successfully turned into the town’s first supermarket. Yet, despite his success, a difficult question kept echoing in his mind: “What is my true role in life?”
The answer struck him a year later, triggered by a memory from his youth. Back in school, Pep was the person everyone turned to with their troubles. He was such a good listener that a local radio host once told him, “You listen like a young psychologist.”
That comment, forgotten for years, came back as a realisation. Trusting his instinct, Pep applied to study psychology at the university in Palma. At the age of 46, he was accepted.
Returning to school was not easy. “I had to get used to being the oldest person in the room — older even than my professor,” he recalls. But Pep soon realised his age was a strength. “I believed disadvantages could be turned into advantages. I ended up helping my classmates because I had real-life experience. This experience breathed life into the theories we learnt in class.”
Pep’s hard work paid off spectacularly. He graduated at the top of his class and impressed his teachers so much that he was offered a teaching position. Today, at 52, he lectures while studying for a master’s degree. Reflecting on his journey from the supermarket to the university, he says, “My only regret is not having done it earlier.”
26.What was Pep’s reaction when stepping into the lecture halls? (no more than 10 words)
27.Why did Pep give up his dream of getting a biology degree years ago? (no more than 5 words)
28.What does the underlined word mean in Paragraph 4? (no more than 5 words)
29.What was the effect of Pep’s real-life experience on the theories? (no more than 10 words)
30.Pep regretted not starting earlier. What will you do to avoid similar regrets in your future? Please explain in your own words. (no more than 20 words)
Passage 7
We found out that Jenny was hearing impaired (有听觉缺陷的) when she was four and a half years old. Several operations and speech classes later, when she was seven, we were told that Jenny had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis She could not put pressure on the heels of her feet, so she walked on tiptoe.
All through grade school, and on into high school, Jenny suffered, yet never complained. She took her medicine, and I would often wrap her feet in towels and hold her until her pain disappeared. But, as soon as she could bear the pain, Jenny immediately carried on, as though she were free of pain.
She was very popular and funny, attending every football game and cheering the team on, carrying her pillow everywhere she went, so that she could reduce the pain. Then came her senior year. She would be considered for scholarship; however, school activities, especially sport, could often mean the difference between receiving an award and losing out.
So Jenny came to a decision, and in her strange manner, she began to bombard the high school football coach with requests. She promised. She got her best friend to sign up with her. Finally, the coach gave in, with the warning, “If you miss one game, you are out!”
She carried big buckets of water to her teammates. She bandaged knees and ankles before every game. Often, Jenny could be seen carrying a bucket of water in each hand, nearly dragging them, along with her pillow pressed under her arms.
When asked why he thought that the team was winning all their games, even in the face of injury, one member of Jenny’s team explained, “Well, when you’ve been knocked down and you can’t seem to move, you look up and see Jenny Lewis, limping (跛行) across the field, dragging her buckets and carrying her pillow. It makes anything that the rest of us may suffer seem pretty insignificant.”
31.When Jenny was seven, why did she walk on tiptoe? (No more than 11 words)
32.Why did Jenny decide to take part in school activities? (No more than 20 words)
33.What does the underlined sentence in the fourth paragraph mean? (No more than 15 words)
34.What made Jenny’s team encouraged in face of difficulties? (No more than 15 words)

Passage 1
Dad’s love for dark chocolate took root in the 1960s, when our family drove an hour to the only shop making it from scratch. My parents would buy dark chocolate almond bark We’d return with a white box tied with ribbon; at home, my father would ceremoniously break the chocolate into pieces, each piece with exactly two almonds — his engineer’s precision shining through.
Dad was strict and quick to frustrate over work, but when he bit into a square of chocolate, the tightness in his shoulders would melt away, and a deep contented smile would spread across his face. That smile was why I joined the ritual (仪式) , even though dark chocolate tasted bitter to me — it was my window to his gentle side. After dinner, his call of “chocolate time” drew us to the living room. The ritual wasn’t just about candy; it was about being together.
Friends and family knew my father loved chocolate, but few noticed how specific his tastes were. He spurned sugary or filled chocolates — only kept strong and simple ones. When gifted boxes of assortments (什锦) , he would pick the darkest plain pieces, leaving caramels (焦糖) and cordials (酒心) for the rest of us. We were all happy to help.
As high-quality dark chocolate became widely available, my father no longer needed to make a long trip for his purchases. He began buying bars from the supermarket, but the ritual stayed. After my mother passed away, and I was a divorced empty nester, Dad and I grew especially close. We talked more and laughed more. And always, we ate chocolate — an indulgence (享受) he kept up until the very end of his life.
Today, my grown children know they can always find an 86% cacao bar in my kitchen, just like in their Grandpa’s. Eating chocolate together is our family heritage — a quiet ritual binding us across generations. It’s sweet. It’s bitter. It’s ours.
36.What did Father’s way of breaking the chocolate into pieces reveal? (no more than 8 words)
37.How did chocolate influence Father’s behaviour? (no more than 10 words)
38.What does the underlined word in paragraph3 mean? (no more than 3 words)
39.What does the paragraph4 mainly tell us? (no more than 10 words)
40.Please explain how you deal with family relationship with an example. (no more than 25words)
Passage 2
I could feel the excitement rising in me as I held the beautifully wrapped present in my hands. Unable to contain my curiosity any longer, I opened it quickly. It was a brand-new laptop. I had scored straight As for my O-level examinations and this was my reward. I had always envied my friends who were exchanging news about “chat rooms”, “instant messaging” and “emailing”, all of which I knew nothing about. Now I was going to find out.
It started out simply enough. I was searching for some information online when I came across a social networking site. Soon I became glued to my new-found electronic friend. I began to spend more and more time on YouTube and became enslaved by Facebook and Twitter. I had never imagined that the day would come when I would be so focused on the glowing screen before me.
As time passed, I realized that I was hooked on the Internet. During weekends, when I had more time on my hands, I could easily spend a few hours on my laptop. It came to a point where I chose to lock myself in my room, refusing to come out and take part in family discussions. I preferred to stay connected to the people I befriended in online space although I had never met them. Soon, my sleep was reduced to only scattered (分散的) naps, and my grades at school also began getting worse.
It was about this time that my parents started voicing their disapproval. It became obvious to them that I was spending too much time on the Internet. I was asked to reduce my usage of the internet. Yet, however hard I tried, I was unable to pull myself away, unable to terminate (终止) my chat sessions, and unable to concentrate on my lessons. I was desperate for just another click and another look at my message board. Then one day, my father took away my laptop. I complained but in vain.
Over time, I realized that Dad and Mom had always wanted the best for me. That was when I decided to take the big step — to conquer my internet addiction. Quitting was harder than I expected. But with dogged determination, I knew that I would turn over a new leaf.
41.What reward did the author get for scoring straight As in the O-level examinations? (no more than 8 words)
42.Why did the author want a laptop? (no more than 10 words)
43.What does the underlined sentence mean in Paragraph 2? (no more than 15 words)
44.How did the author’s parents show their disapproval to the author’s addict to the Internet? (no more than 15 words)
45.Have you ever had a similar experience of being addicted to something? Please explain. (no more than 25 words)
Passage 3
When sports journalist Shireen Ahmed thinks about covering the 2024 Olympics, one moment stands out: a video she shot on her phone of her and her workmates at CBC taken just as the Canadian men’s team won the 4×100m relay.
That wasn’t the only viral moment from last year’s Games. In fact, Ahmed says she and her workmates used social media to cover the Olympics like never before. Some of the Games’ most viral moments took off owing to media companies or individual journalists’ posts, including photos of Yusuf Dikec, the Turkish shooter who went viral for his shooting stance (姿势), Likewise American gymnast Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles bowing to Brazilian Rebecca Andrade after she took gold in the women’s floor final, and Australia’s Rachael Gunn, whose awkward breakdancing drew the internet’s attention. These moments had a huge impact on how fans consumed the events.
However, one-off viral moments aren’t the only way social media has changed sports reporting, Ahmed says. The dissemination of information and the ways that happened have changed greatly, which enable people to have access to athletes and watch their own commentary about personal and social issues.
And media companies are increasingly relying on podcasting, a medium that has become hugely popular among audiences. According to a 2024 report from SiriusXM, there has been a 39per cent rise in demand for sports podcasts since 2019. In 2022 alone, there was a 32 per cent increase in the number of sports podcasts being produced. At the same time, there was a 119 per cent growth in downloads, indicating podcast consumption grew more and faster.
To Ahmed, videos might be an even bigger game-changer, especially on TikTok. That social media app has become extremely popular with sports journalists, who often use the platform to share a quick hit of analysis or opinion, or to deliver a short but informative explainer video, which breaks down a particular aspect of sport in 60 seconds or so. These are an important part of the overall editorial strategy for many sports departments, she says, because these concise, interesting and sometimes unexpected videos are both fascinating to audiences and effective at keeping them watching.
46.How did social media influence the way people experienced the 2024 Olympics? (no more than 10 words)
47.What does the underlined word “dissemination” in paragraph 3 mean? (1 word)
48.What is Ahmed’s opinion of sports videos on TikTok? (no more than 5 words)
49.What is the text mainly about? (no more than 10 words)
50.How does social media change your life? Please explain. (no more than 20 words)

17.What’s the meaning of the underlined word “thwarted” in Paragraph 2 (no more than 2 words)

根据文章第四段“But he called us “a breath of fresh air” and kept thanking us because he really would have been stuck if we hadn’t come along.(但他称我们是“一股新鲜空气”,并不断感谢我们,因为如果我们不来,他真的会被困住。)” Because they helped him with his flat tire.

Yes, I have. Because I thought they met more serious trouble than I had.

25.What have you learned from the author’s story? Please explain with an example. (no more than 25 words)
21.Because people weren’t returning his greetings./ He thought they made people unfriendly. 22.He felt surprised. 23.The author gets into the habit of greeting people and feels happier./ The author usually greets others and feels better. 24.Friendly small talk with strangers./ Brief friendly interactions with others. 25.I have learned the importance of small talk and I now smile at neighbors and get smiles back./ I’ve learned to take the first step; I once smiled at a new classmate on Day 1, which helped me make friends.
根据第一段“Why are people so unfriendly?(为什么人们这么不友好?)”以及第四段“Just that morning, I had looked directly at someone and got no “hello” back. So rude!(就在那天早上,我直视着某个人,却没有得到一句“你好”的回应。太无礼了!)”可知,作者因为人们不回应他的问候,觉得他们不友好,所以将此归咎于手机和社交媒体。故填Because people weren’t returning his greetings./ He thought they made people unfriendly.
根据第五段“To my surprise, it worked.(令我惊讶的是,这奏效了。)” He felt surprised.
根据第八段“Of course, I use common sense. I don’t greet everyone, and some days I feel less outgoing. But usually, I now say hello whether people look at me or not. Most respond positively. And even if they don’t, what the hey. I always end my walk feeling better.(当然,我会运用常识。我不会跟每个人都打招呼,而且有些日子我感觉没那么外向。但通常,现在不管人们有没有看我,我都会说“你好”。大多数人都会积极回应。就算他们不回应,又有什么关系呢。散步结束时我总是感觉更好。)”可知,本段主要讲作者养成了主动问候他人的习惯,并且这样做让他感觉更好。故填The author gets into the habit of greeting people and feels happier./ The author usually greets others and feels better.
根据第九段“At the store, in restaurants, and even at the gym, I now talk to strangers. I don’t expect lifelong friends, just small moments of connection.(现在在商店里、在餐馆里,甚至在健身房里,我都会和陌生人交谈。我并不期待能交到终身的朋友,只希望有一些small moments of connection。)”可知,作者和陌生人交流,并不期待成为终身朋友,因此“small moments of connection”指的是和陌生人之间短暂友好的互动或闲聊。故填Friendly small talk with strangers./ Brief friendly interactions with others.
I have learned the importance of small talk and I now smile at neighbors and get smiles back./ I’ve learned to take the first step; I once smiled at a new classmate on Day 1, which helped me make friends.

根据第二段“Suddenly, surrounded by books and the atmosphere of learning, he felt an unexpected and deep sense of belonging. It was a feeling of coming home to a place he had never lived in. (突然,置身于书籍之中,沉浸在浓厚的学习氛围中,他内心涌起了一种意想不到且深沉的归属感。这是一种仿佛回到从未居住过却无比熟悉的地方的亲切感。)”可知,佩普走进教室时感受到了一种意想不到且强烈的归属感。/ 他有一种回家的感觉。/ 他感觉自己回到了一个属于自己的地方。故答案为He felt an unexpected and deep sense of belonging. / He felt a sense of coming home. / He felt like coming home to a place he belonged.

35.What have you learned from Jenny? (No more than 25 words)
31.Because she could not put pressure on her heels./Because her heels couldn’t take pressure. 32.Because activities could affect scholarship chances./Because school activities could often mean the difference between receiving an award and losing out. 33.She kept asking the coach repeatedly to let her join the team. 34.Jenny’s effort and determination despite her pain. 35.We should never give up despite suffering; courage and perseverance can inspire others and overcome difficulties.
根据第一段中“Several operations and speech classes later, when she was seven, we were told that Jenny had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (风湿性关节炎). She could not put pressure on the heels of her feet, so she walked on tiptoe.(经过几次手术和语言课程后,她七岁时,我们被告知Jenny患有幼年型类风湿性关节炎。她不能给脚后跟施加压力,所以她踮着脚尖走路)”可知,Jenny七岁时踮着脚尖走路是因为她不能给脚后跟施加压力。故答案为:Because she could not put pressure on her heels./Because her heels couldn’t take pressure.
根据第三段中“Then came her senior year. She would be considered for scholarship; however, school activities, especially sport, could often mean the difference between receiving an award and losing out.(然后到了她的毕业年级。她将被考虑获得奖学金;然而,学校活动,尤其是体育活动,往往意味着获得奖励和失去奖励之间的区别)”可知,Jenny决定参加学校活动是因为活动会影响她获得奖学金的机会。故答案为:Because activities could affect scholarship chances./Because school activities could often mean the difference between receiving an award and losing out.
所以“she began to bombard the high school football coach with requests.” She kept asking the coach repeatedly to let her join the team.
根据倒数第二段“She carried big buckets of water to her teammates. She bandaged knees and ankles before every game. Often, Jenny could be seen carrying a bucket of water in each hand, nearly dragging them, along with her pillow pressed under her arms.(她给队友们提来大桶大桶的水。她在每场比赛前都包扎膝盖和脚踝。人们经常看到Jenny双手各提一桶水,几乎拖着它们,胳膊下还夹着枕头)”以及最后一段中“Well, when you’ve been knocked down and you can’t seem to move, you look up and see Jenny Lewis, limping (跛行) across the field, dragging her buckets and carrying her pillow. It makes anything that the rest of us may suffer seem pretty insignificant.(当你被击倒,似乎无法移动时,你抬头看到Jenny Lewis一瘸一拐地穿过球场,拖着水桶,抱着枕头。这让我们其他人所遭受的一切都显得微不足道)”可知,尽管Jenny身体疼痛,但她仍然努力为球队做出贡献,这种努力和决心让她的队友在面对困难时受到鼓舞。故答案为:Jenny’s effort and determination despite her pain.
We should never give up despite suffering; courage and perseverance can inspire others and overcome difficulties.
It’s ours.

根据第一段中“My parents would buy dark chocolate almond bark. We’d return with a white box tied with ribbon; at home, my father would ceremoniously break the chocolate into pieces, each piece with exactly two almonds — his engineer’s precision shining through. (父母会买黑巧克力杏仁脆皮。我们会带着一个系着丝带的白盒子回家;在家里,父亲会郑重地把巧克力掰成小块,每块恰好有两颗杏仁——他工程师般的精准尽显无疑。)”可知,父亲掰巧克力的方式体现了他工程师的精准。故答案为His engineer’s precision. Or: Father did everything precisely. Or: He applied precision in engineering/technique to everything/daily tasks.
根据第二段中“Dad was strict and quick to frustrate over work, but when he bit into a square of chocolate, the tightness in his shoulders would melt away, and a deep contented smile would spread across his face. (父亲平时很严厉,工作中容易烦躁,但当他咬下一块巧克力时,肩膀的紧绷感就会消散,脸上露出满足的笑容。)”可知,巧克力让父亲变得温柔放松。故答案为It made him gentle/soft/ relaxed. Or: It softened him. Or: It brought out his gentle side.
根据第三段中“Friends and family knew my father loved chocolate, but few noticed how specific his tastes were. He spurned sugary or filled chocolates — only kept strong and simple ones. When gifted boxes of assortments, he would pick the darkest plain pieces, leaving caramels and cordials for the rest of us. (亲朋好友都知道父亲喜欢巧克力,但很少有人注意到他的口味有多挑剔。他spurned含糖或夹心的巧克力,只保留浓郁纯粹的黑巧克力。收到什锦巧克力礼盒时,他会挑最黑的纯巧克力,把焦糖和酒心巧克力留给我们。)”可知,父亲只保留浓郁纯粹的黑巧克力,由此可知,父亲不接受、拒绝其他种类的巧克力,故画线词意思是“拒绝”。故答案为Refused. / Rejected. / Disliked. / Not care for.
根据第四段中“As high-quality dark chocolate became widely available, my father no longer needed to make a long trip for his purchases. He began buying bars from the supermarket, but the ritual stayed. After my mother passed away, and I was a divorced empty nester, Dad and I grew especially close. We talked more and laughed more. And always, we ate chocolate — an indulgence he kept up until the very end of his life. (随着高品质黑巧克力变得普及,父亲再也不用长途跋涉去购买了。他开始从超市买巧克力条,但这个仪式保留了下来。母亲去世后,我成了离异的空巢老人,我和父亲变得格外亲密。我们聊得更多,笑得更多。我们一直吃巧克力——这是他坚持到生命最后一刻的享受。)”可知,尽管生活境况改变,吃巧克力的仪式依然延续。故答案为Even though the circumstances changed, the ritual remained. Or: Despite all the changes, the ritual continued. Or: The chocolate ritual went on / remained unbroken through life’s changes.
I have regular family dinners which provide a dedicated time for sharing daily life, fostering communication and a sense of belonging.
41.A brand-new laptop. 42.He wanted to explore the online world. 43.Soon I became completely addicted to my new laptop and could not stop using it.
Or: Soon I became absorbed in/ fixed on/ interested in my new laptop and could not stop using it. 44.They asked for less usage and took away the laptop. / They asked him to reduce the usage of the Internet and took away the laptop. 45.Yes, I have. Addicted to games, I limited the time, got rid of the habit and improved grades finally.

46.It created many viral moments. 47.Spread. 48.They are game-changers. 49.Social media changes sports reporting. 50.It makes my daily communication and information-getting easier.

These moments had a huge impact on how fans consumed the events.(事实上,艾哈迈德表示,她和同事们利用社交媒体的方式报道奥运会的方式是前所未有的。 It created many viral moments.
根据划线词后文“of information and the ways that happened have changed greatly(信息的……以及传播过程本身都发生了巨大变化)”以及“which enable people to have access to athletes and watch their own commentary about personal and social issues(这使得人们能够接触到运动员,并观看他们对个人和社会问题的阐述)”可知,社交媒体使得人们能够接触到运动员,并观看他们对个人和社会问题的阐述,说明信息的传播方式产生了变化。故划线词意思是“传播”。故答案为Spread.
