课标主题:人与社会——身份认同与文化自信
情境导语:Learn about the ancient Chinese
greeting ways.
文体:说明文 难度:★★★☆☆
词数:约270词 建议用时:7分钟
For centuries, China has been known as “a state of
ceremonies”, which means Liyi Zhibang. There was much
greeting etiquette in ancient China.
11
The fist-and-palm salute(拱手礼) was quite a classic
example. It has a history of more than 3,000 years. In ancient
times, when people met a stranger, they would prepare for a
fight if necessary. Holding hands together pointed towards
themselves was a gesture of saying “relax”, meaning “I’m not
here to start a fight.” Later, it became the etiquette when people
met each other or showed thanks.
So, how should people do the fist-and-palm salute properly?
Firstly, stand at attention. If you’re a man, make a half fist
with your right hand, then hold the right hand with your left
hand in front of your chest, look at the person, raise both
hands to the eyebrow(眉毛), bend down(弯腰) and shake
hands gently three times. At the same time, you can also say
some lucky greeting words. If you’re a woman, you should do
it the other way which should be the right hand on the top.
People may be more familiar with the hold-fist salute,
called Baoquan Li in Chinese. It is widely used among kung fu
masters and students. It is formed by holding the right fist
closed, covering it with the left hand open, and reach both arms
slightly forward in front of the chest(胸部). Make sure the
left thumb(拇指) is close to the index finger(食指) and
don’t point it at yourself, as this shows bad manners.#1.1.7

三、 任务型阅读理解 2025中考新增题型
课标主题:人与社会——世界主要国家的文化习俗
情境导语:Chopsticks—A window to Chinese culture.
文体:说明文 难度:★★★★☆
词数:约280词 建议用时:9分钟
Chopsticks (or kuaizi in Chinese) are a kind of common
tool in the world. They are also one of the symbols of Chinese
food culture.
20
There are many stories about who may have invented them.
About 3,000 years ago, Dayu helped people fight against floods.
He was always busy and often ate in the wild. To save time,
he used two branches(树枝) to get the food. He found this
way was more convenient than using hands. People followed his
example and started to use chopsticks to eat. In fact, the earliest
chopsticks were invented more than 3,000 years ago, dating
back to the Shang Dynasty.
Chopsticks are usually 7 cun and 6 fen long. Cun and fen
are Chinese units of measurement(度量单位). In ancient times,
the wealthy had their chopsticks made of silver, gold or other
valuable materials. Nowadays, they are made from different
materials.
Although chopsticks are common sticks, there is some
Chinese philosophy(哲学) in them. They are always used in
pairs which are full of Chinese best wishes. Chinese like even
numbers(偶数) because “pair” in Chinese is a very lucky
word. So a pair of chopsticks can be used as the wedding gift.
It means “to have a smart baby soon”.
Meanwhile, there are some customs for using chopsticks
while eating. Remember not to use chopsticks to hit the side of
your bowl or plate to make a lot of noise. Never use them to
point at others or to stick them into rice directly. They are
impolite manners.
Chopsticks are commonly used in Chinese daily life, but
they carry rich Chinese culture.#3
