Hi friends, it's smarty the alpaca here. And today we're going to explore a super interesting question. Why do we have different time zones when the sun is shining? On one side of the earth, it's daytime for the people there, but on the other side, it's nights because that side is facing away from the sun. To make things easier for everyone around the world, we use timezone. A time zone is a region where the same standard time is used. There are twenty four time zones in total, each one and hour apart. Let's say it's three pm in new york in london, which is in a different time zone. It's already eight pm. That's because london is ahead by five hours. Time zones are really helpful for things like traveling, making phone calls and watching T, V shows that are broadcast ted from different parts of the world. Imagine how confusing IT would be if everyone used the same time. There's even a special line called the international date line. It's an imaginary line in the pacific ocean. When you cross IT, the date changes. So if you travel west across the line, you go forward a day. And if you travel east, you go back a day, pretty cool, right? So to sum IT all up, we have different time zones, because the earth is always spinning, and we need a way to keep track of time all around the world. IT helps us state organized and make sure everyone knows what time IT is, no matter where they are.
It's five o . clock.
It's six o'clock. It's time for dinner.
