Kate: What's up, Colin?
Colin:I was laughed at by my classmates
Kate: Why?
Colin: Erm... because my hobby is knitting. I have practised it since last spring.
Kate: Oh, I see. That's a bit different.
Colin: Yes, especially for boys. In fact, even some of my friends find my hobby strange.
Kate: I'm sorry to hear that. But I don't think it's strange at all.
Colin: Well, my friends' hobbies are totally different, such as playing basketball or spending time on screens. I just feel that I don't fit in.

1. What kind of person do you think the son is?
2. What advice can you give the son and his mother?
He is a kind, responsible and helpful person, but sometimes forgets to communicate with his family when he is busy helping others.
To the son: Always call or text your parents if you're going to be late, even if you're doing something good. They don't know what happens to you, so they will worry.
To the mother: Try to listen to your child's explanation first before getting angry. Good communication needs patience from both sides.

Sample
A: I once had a problem with my friends.
B: What happened?
A: Last term, all my good friends joined the dance club. They kept asking me to join too—saying “it's so cool” and “we can hang out more”. But I really love painting, not dancing.
B: How did you solve the problem?
A: It was not easy. First of all, I felt left out. But I told them honestly that painting is what I really like. After that, I joined the art club and made some new friends.
B: That's nice! What did you learn from it?
A: I learned that true friends will respect your hobbies—you don't need to change yourself to fit in.
