In it, a kouji performer, specializing in vocal mimicry (模仿), creates lifelike performances of various sounds using just his mouth, with the stage having only a table, a block of wood on it, a chair and a fan. Originating from ancient China, the art of kouji involves skillfully using movements of the lips, teeth, throat, and tongue to produce sounds that mimic birds, animals, and various other noises in the world. It is often combined with story-telling during performances. In 2011, kouji was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. According to a website, traditional kouji is becoming endangered due to the rapid development of electronic audio. However, Cao Quyang, a 28-year-old inheritor, has found a solution by combining kouji with beatboxing, achieving a perfect combination of traditional and modern performance art. Cao started learning kouji in 2016 when she wanted to bring something original to her beatboxing performance. “As a former percussionist (打击乐器演奏者), I'm sensitive to rhythm, so I integrated the kouji techniques I learned into beatboxing and created my own unique style in my area of expertise,” she added. For example, when mimicking environmental sounds like wind, Cao can use her mouth to weave beatboxing into it, making the sound of the wind stronger and more rhythmic.“The addition of beatboxing brings more musical expression to kouji performances, making the stories more vivid and appealing to today's young audiences,” said Cao. In addition to kouji and beatboxing, Cao can also play the Chinese drums, drum set, and piano, as well as work as a DJ. “Innovation is not difficult for me. To me, innovation is simply expressing something that people don't understand in a way they do,” said Cao. “As long as it combines tradition and modernity and allows the public to appreciate the beauty of tradition through innovation, I'm willing to do it.” 1.Why is the article called Kouji in middle school mentioned in paragraph 1? A.By creating a combination of traditional and modern performance art. B.By developing a means of composing pop songs with the help of kouji. C.By combining it with percussion instruments. D.By including digital effects in her performances. 根据第三段中的“However, Cao Quyang, a 28-year-old inheritor, has found ...traditional and modern performance art.” A。 3.What aspect of kouji does Cao improve with beatboxing ? A.Visual appeal. B.Rhythmic complexity. C.Mimicry accuracy. D.Emotional depth. 根据第四段中的“For example, when mimicking environmental ...sound of the wind stronger and more rhythmic.” B。 √ 4.What does Cao think of innovation ? A.It is a way to bridge understanding. B.It is a means of beautifying the old. C.It presents challenges and risks of failure. D.It serves as a form of self-expression. 根据最后一段曹曲央的话“Innovation is not difficult for me. To me, innovation is simply expressing something that people don't understand in a way they do.” A“It is a way to bridge understanding.”正确。故选A。 √ B The city of Florence eats, sleeps and breathes art. Examples of man's artistic genius (天赋) stand on nearly every street. Dozens of museums and art shops wait to be explored. During the Renaissance, Florence was a paradise for artists themselves. Before this time, art focused completely on religious subjects. Renaissance art began to include more variety. Artists painted pictures of ordinary people. They painted scenes from history and characters from Greek and Roman myths (神话). Michelangelo was the greatest of Florence's artists. Visitors line up for hours at the Accademia Museum for a look at his impressive David. This 14-foot-high statue has become the ideal human figure of the Renaissance. David is an example of Michelangelo's talent for sculpting people simply, yet powerfully. More of Michelangelo's works can be seen in the great Palazzo Vecchio. Paintings and carvings of famous Italian artists fill the palace rooms. A short walk through the narrow streets of Florence brings visitors to the famous Uffizi Gallery. It has an outstanding art collection. Visitors should be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the gallery takes many hours. Some of the most famous works in the collection include Botticelli's Primavera and The Birth of Venus. Even visitors tired of art won't want to miss the Pitti Palace. Once home to Florence's powerful Medici family, the large palace now houses three museums. Filled with priceless art, the countless rooms glitter (闪光) with gold decorations. For a breath of fresh air, wander among the statues and fountains of the palace gardens. To get a feel of modern Florence, join the evening walk. This traditional feature of Italian life begins around 6:00 pm. People walk down the streets of central Florence to do last-minute shopping or just chat with friends. Be sure to walk past Perch Noi, home of the oldest and best ice cream in the city. Florence has given the world many great art treasures. Some stand in gardens and squares. Others line the walls of beautiful palaces. Still others are the palaces themselves. For art lovers, Florence is indeed paradise. 5.What can we learn about Renaissance art? A.Its diversity increased. B.It reflected artists' lives. My brother and I were not very excited when we realized what my mother meant. What she meant was not that we could take drawing classes or painting classes but that we would have to spend one afternoon a week with her at the Fine Arts Museum. That was not so bad — what really troubled me was that before each visit to the museum, she made us read about artists and painting styles. ___ 9 Anyway, who wants to spend the summer thinking about artists when you could be with your friends at the swimming pool? First we had to read about ancient Egyptians and their strange way of painting faces and then go to look at them at the museum. ____ Later we had to learn about artists in the Middle Ages who painted people wearing strange long clothing. We had to look at pictures of fat babies with wings and curly hair and with no clothes on flying around the edges of paintings. ____ On our last visit to the museum, something 10 11 happened when I saw a painting by a woman called Mary. ____ The colors were soft and gentle, and you could tell by the mother's expression how happy she was just to be with the child. I could hardly take my eyes away from that painting! ____ It was really worth looking at so many paintings to find a painter who could interest me so much. A.In it, a woman was reading to a child. B.That felt almost as bad as being in school. 12 13 C.The two paintings were so similar to each other! D.I wanted to see every painting Mary had ever made! E.I was immediately attracted by the strange way of painting faces. F.Staring at those pictures, I still couldn't see what was so great about art. G.Unusual styles of art always attracted my brother, but I was not interested. 10.选G 由“First ...then ...Later ...” 下文中的“On our last visit ...something happened ...”
