Do you like Lanzhou beef noodles? They come from
Lanzhou, Gansu. Over 100 years ago, a cook called Ma Baozi
made the dish famous on the streets of Lanzhou. And then,
Lanzhou noodles became well-known around the world. Now,
Lanzhou plans to make a place called the Lanzhou Beef
Noodles Industrial Park (产业园).This place will bring many
businesses that are related to making or selling beef noodles.

The Magical Transformation of Xingfu Village
Xingfu Village, located in a far area in Gansu Province,
used to be a place with few development opportunities. The
local kids had a long journey to reach their school. They had
to walk along narrow(狭窄的)roads, and in bad weather, it
was even more challenging.

An important change took place in 2018.The local
government found the town’s potential(潜力), and started a
cultural-tourism project. They rebuilt ancient buildings, created
cultural exhibition halls, and developed special folk-custom
experience areas.
By 2025, Xingfu Village had changed into a popular place.
A new-type “smart school bus” system was also built for the
students. This school owned the newest device(装置).Now,
children can reach school in 40 minutes. In the past, it took
them at least two hours to get to school on foot.
“Before, I was always worried about being late or getting
hurt on the way,” said 12-year-old Li Mei, a student from
Xingfu Village.“But now, on the smart school bus, I can enjoy
our beautiful town and feel excited about the new day at
school.”
More and more tourists are attracted by the town’s culture
and beautiful scenery. So many villagers have started small
businesses, such as handicraft(工艺品)shops and local food
restaurants.
Wang Gang, a local businessman who took part in the
project, hopes that the children in the town can take advantage
of the convenience brought by the “smart school bus” to get
more knowledge. He wishes that they will return to their
hometown with new ideas and skills to further develop Xingfu
