【原文】
Welcome to Live a Beautiful Life. Today I’ll share with you how to make life beautiful by gardening. Sunflowers are native American plants with many uses. Their oil is used for cooking oil, and their seeds can make tasty snacks. A sunflower also makes a bright and happy addition to any sunny window or balcony. Growing a sunflower in a pot is an easy project that even small children can enjoy.
You can buy sunflower seeds from your local nursery or garden center, or you can order them online. If you want rare varieties, you may have better luck online.
Choose the size of your container based on the height of the flower you want to plant, as well as how many flowers you want in each container. Push each seed about 1 inch deep into the soil. If you’re planting more than one seed in your container, put the seeds 4 to 5 inches apart.
Sunflowers need more water than most plants as they are growing. Sunflowers that don’t get enough water during those early stages will have thin, weak stems that are unable to hold the heavy flower head upright.
So much for today. We’ll be back on air tomorrow morning at 7.

Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was a beloved British children’s author whose imaginative tales and playful language redefined childhood literature. Born in Cardiff to Norwegian parents, Dahl discovered his passion for storytelling at a young age. His unique life experiences, including his time at boarding schools, inspired the vivid stories he would later create.
After working for Shell Petroleum, Dahl turned to writing and published his first children’s book, The Gremlins (1943), which was inspired by folk tales and commissioned (委托) by Walt Disney. However, it was his later works that truly established his reputation. Books like James and the Giant Peach and The BFG combined fantasy with dark humor, featuring brave children overcoming tough problems.
One of Dahl’s most popular works is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1964). This timeless story explores themes of greed and morality through the eyes of Charlie Bucket, a poor but kind-hearted boy who wins a golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory. Inside the factory, Charlie meets other children who represent different negative qualities. In contrast, Charlie’s modesty and kindness make him the perfect heir (继承人) to Wonka’s factory. The book is filled with fantastical elements, such as eatable gardens and nut-sorting squirrels, showcasing Dahl’s limitless imagination.
Dahl’s writing process was as quirky as his stories. In the 1960s, he transformed an old truck into a writing space, parking it in his garden in Great Missenden, Oxfordshire. There, he crafted tales of underdogs winning over greed and unfairness, such as in Danny the Champion of the World, where a father and son outsmart a wealthy landowner.
Beyond children’s books, Dahl wrote screenplays, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. His adult short stories were also highly praised. Despite personal struggles, his work radiated humor and hope. In a poll commissioned by Canon UK, Dahl was voted “Britain’s greatest storyteller”, outshining even Dickens and J. K. Rowling.
Roald Dahl’s books have been translated into 63 languages and continue to inspire generations to embrace imagination, challenge unfairness and find joy in the unexpected.
24.According to the text, Roald Dahl’s childhood experiences ______.
A.made him hate writing at first B.influenced his writing in a limited way
C.provided rich material for his writing D.had a great effect on his character
25.What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The theme of Dahl’s first book. B.The brief introduction to a book.
C.The writing style of Dahl’s books. D.The impact of children’s works on kids.
26.What does the underlined word “quirky” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Unusual. B.Boring. C.Predictable. D.Serious.
27.What can we learn about Roald Dahl from the text?
A.He disliked other British authors.
B.His books were more popular than Dickens’.
C.He wrote more books than J. K. Rowling did.
D.His storytelling was highly regarded in Britain.
【答案】24.C 25.B 26.A 27.D
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了英国著名儿童作家罗尔德·达尔的生平、作品及其影响。
24.细节理解题。根据第一段“His unique life experiences, including his time at boarding schools, inspired the vivid stories he would later create. (他独特的人生经历,包括在寄宿学校的时光,激发了他后来创作的生动故事)”可知,罗尔德·达尔的童年经历为他后来的写作提供了丰富的素材。故选C。
25.主旨大意题。 根据第三段“One of Dahl’s most popular works is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1964). This timeless story explores themes of greed and morality through the eyes of Charlie Bucket, a poor but kind-hearted boy who wins a golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory. Inside the factory, Charlie meets other children who represent different negative qualities. In contrast, Charlie’s modesty and kindness make him the perfect heir to Wonka’s factory. The book is filled with fantastical elements, such as eatable gardens and nut-sorting squirrels, showcasing Dahl’s limitless imagination.(达尔最受欢迎的作品之一是《查理和巧克力工厂》(1964)。
根据画线词后文“In the 1960s, he transformed an old truck into a writing space, parking it in his garden in Great Missenden, Oxfordshire. (20世纪60年代,他把一辆旧卡车改造成写作空间,停放在牛津郡大米森登的花园里)”可知,罗尔德·达尔的写作过程很奇特、不寻常,划线词与A选项Unusual“不寻常的”意义相近。故选A。
27.推理判断题。 根据倒数第二段“In a poll commissioned by Canon UK, Dahl was voted “Britain’s greatest storyteller”, outshining even Dickens and J. K. Rowling. (在佳能英国公司委托进行的一项民意调查中,达尔被评为“英国最伟大的讲故事的人”,甚至超过了狄更斯和J.K.罗琳)”可推知,罗尔德·达尔在英国的讲故事才能得到了高度评价。故选D。
C
It’s a widely-held belief that kids with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (多动症), ADHD for short, will have a hard time finding jobs later on in life. ADHD is commonly diagnosed during childhood. It’s best known that kids with ADHD have a hard time concentrating on a single task or object for long periods of time, and that they can’t “sit still”. However, that is a pretty narrow view on the disorder.
A new study from the University of Michigan found that adults with ADHD actually have a unique advantage when doing creative tasks. White and her team worked with a group of college students, with and without ADHD, and tested them in lab challenges of creativity. Participants had to compete in an “alien fruit” invention task, where they were asked to create an example of a fruit that is different from a fruit known to exist on Earth.
Non-ADHD participants tended to model their creations after specific common fruits, such as apples or strawberries. These creations were less innovative (创新的) than those of the second group. This group of participants with ADHD created fruits that differed more from typical fruits, and were more original. They seemed like rarer fruits. Overall, the results suggest that people with ADHD rely less on previous knowledge or examples when dealing with a task.
There are many kids with ADHD in our schools and communities, and it’s up to us to make things better for them. However, nowadays ADHD is still increasingly and expensively treated with drugs. Many studies indicate that spending time in nature gives great benefits to ADHD children. We must remember that children with ADHD actually have very good attention spans—but only for tasks they find interesting. Telling them what they should do isn’t very effective, and most things we do are simply boring to them.
28.What do we know about ADHD from Paragraph 1?
A.ADHD mainly exists in children.
B.Kids with ADHD can’t do tasks well.
C.People believe ADHD makes it difficult for kids to focus on something.
D.People with ADHD find it hard to get a good job.
29.What did participants do in the test?
A.They made choices. B.They made presentations.
C.They answered questions. D.They were required to finish a task.
30.Where can we find the information that best supports the result of the experiment?
A.In Paragraph 1. B.In Paragraph 2. C.In Paragraph 3. D.In Paragraph 4.
31.What does the author advise us to do about people with ADHD in the last paragraph?
A.Find more effective drugs for them. B.Provide more green space for them.
C.Place them under more personal care. D.Engage them in activities appealing to them.
根据第一段中“It’s best known that kids with ADHD have a hard time concentrating on a single task or object for long periods of time, and that they can’t “sit still”. However, that is a pretty narrow view on the disorder.(众所周知,患有多动症的孩子很难长时间专注于一个任务或物体,他们不能“坐着不动”。然而,这是对这种疾病的一种相当狭隘的看法。)”可知,人们认为多动症使孩子很难集中注意力。故选C项。
29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Participants had to compete in an “alien fruit” invention task, where they were asked to create an example of a fruit that is different from a fruit known to exist on Earth.(参与者必须在一个“外星水果”发明任务中竞争,在这个任务中,他们被要求创造一个不同于地球上已知存在的水果的例子。)” 可知,参与者被要求完成一个“外星水果”发明任务,也就是被要求完成一项任务。故选D项。
30.细节理解题。通读全文可知,在第三段详细描述了实验过程,包括参与者被要求完成的任务,以及不同组(患有多动症和未患多动症)的参与者的表现,如“Non-ADHD participants tended to model their creations after specific common fruits, such as apples or strawberries. These creations were less innovative (创新的) than those of the second group. This group of participants with ADHD created fruits that differed more from typical fruits, and were more original.(非多动症参与者倾向于模仿特定的常见水果,如苹果或草莓。这些创意不如第二组的创意有创新性。这组患有多动症的参与者创造的水果与典型的水果更不同,也更新颖。)”可知,这些信息都是对实验结果的支持,所以在第三段能找到支持实验结果的信息。故选C项。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“We must remember that children with ADHD actually have very good attention spans—but only for tasks they find interesting. Telling them what they should do isn’t very effective, and most things we do are simply boring to them.(我们必须记住,患有多动症的孩子实际上有很好的注意力持续时间——但只是对他们感兴趣的任务。告诉他们应该做什么并不是很有效,而且我们做的大多数事情对他们来说都很无聊。)”可知,患有多动症的孩子对他们感兴趣的任务注意力很好,告诉他们应该做什么效果不佳,因为大多数事情对他们来说很无聊。所以作者建议让他们参与到吸引他们的活动中。故选D项。

Many companies have advertised a feature that enables users to employ AI as a recipe generator assistant. In one demonstration, a user asks the virtual assistant for a meal plan with ingredients (食材) they have, and the AI returns a list of recipes using those ingredients. In fact, the employment of AI in the brainstorming stage is also gaining increasing popularity. While that seems convenient, most of the press about the relationship between AI and cooking has been negative so far.
For years, chefs on popular video platforms have staged cook-offs between “real” and AI recipes, with the “real” chefs often winning. In 2022, Tasty, an online platform, compared a chocolate cake recipe generated by an AI tool with one developed by a professional cook. While the AI recipe baked up fine, the cook’s recipe won in a blind taste test. The tasters preferred the cook’s cake for its not-too-sweet and juicer flavor compared to the AI cake.
Sarah and Kaitlin Leung are sisters who run a famous food blog. Their recipes go through a long process. They brainstorm ideas, do research, and experiment a lot before testing each recipe up to 40 times. “We know that our readers are trusting us, so we try to make sure our recipe not only works but is also easy to follow,” Sarah says. “The stories that surround these recipes and the connections that we make with people through these recipes are priceless — it’s so deeply human. By comparison, the machine doesn’t eat and the machine can’t taste.”
“It’s not all negative for me.” A software engineer Olson believes AI has a place in the recipe development process. He adds, “but I don’t think the technology is there to the point where you can have an entirely AI-generated blog, although that would be a cool concept. Maybe someone should try it and see how it goes.”
32.What can AI do in developing a recipe?
A.Planning the budget. B.Shortening cooking time.
C.Coming up with ideas. D.Demonstrating cooking methods.
33.What can we know about the competition launched by Tasty?
A.The AI tool was developed by a cook.
B.The result agrees with those of prior years.
C.The cook’s cake tasted sweeter and juicier.
D.The comparison was based on the appearance.
34.How does the sisters ensure the quality of their recipes on their food blog?
A.By doing multiple trials. B.By learning the recipes from AI.
C.By using priceless ingredients. D.By following standard procedures.
35.What is Olson’s attitude towards entirely AI-generated blogs?
A.Supportive. B.Concerned. C.Reserved. D.Critical.

33.细节理解题。根据第二段“For years, chefs on popular video platforms have staged cook-offs between “real” and AI recipes, with the “real” chefs often winning. In 2022, Tasty, an online platform, compared a chocolate cake recipe generated by an AI tool with one developed by a professional cook. Show interest in the interviewer
37 . This will make them feel just as important as the interview is. Small actions, such as remembering the interviewer's name can help show the interviewer you are interested in more than the position.
38
Throughout the interview, your interviewer will likely to discuss important things about the position and the company. It is important to show your interviewer you are interested in what they have to say and are actively listening. You can do this by paraphrasing things they say, repeating them back to the interviewer.
Ask the interviewer questions
Although most interviews include questions that the interviewer asks you, it is also important to make sure you ask any questions you have about the role or the company. At the beginning of the interview, you can ask questions about the interviewer like "How long have you worked here?" Then continue to ask proper questions throughout the interview. 39
Follow up after the interview
Once you have successfully made a strong connection with the interviewer, maintain it after the interview is over. 40 . You can use this follow-up to emphasize why you are looking forward to working with them. This reinforces the connection and leaves a lasting impression that can lead to a job offer.

【答案】Dear Tom,
I am sorry to hear that you were in low spirits after you did not do well in your learning ancient Chinese poems. What was worse, you lost heart and no longer studied as hard as before.
Actually we always meet problems in learning Chinese poems, which are the essence of Chinese culture. However, why don't you take an active attitude towards the temporary trouble? By encouraging ourselves and reading more poems loudly, we will find the sense of language so that we could no longer feel it challenging.
Just as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. Only with more practice can we harvest/reap the fruit of success.
Yours,
Li Hua

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
Leo was like any other kid of his age — full of curiosity and energy. He loved playing soccer with his friends, riding his bike, and reading adventure books. On top of all these, Leo loved screens. Whether it was playing video games, watching cartoons, or scrolling through social media, Leo spent countless hours glued to the screen.
One Saturday morning, Leo was deeply immersed in a game that involved racing cars and defeating opponents, the glow of his tablet lighting his face. Suddenly, his mom entered the room. “Leo, how long have you been playing?” she asked with concern.
“Just a little while, Mom. I’m almost at the next level!” Leo replied, his eyes not leaving the screen.
His mom sighed. “I know it’s fun, but don’t you think it’s time to take a break?”
“But Mom, I’m having a great time here!” Leo protested, pausing his game for just a moment.
“Leo, I’ve noticed that you spend a lot of time on your tablet. Maybe we should try something different for a while. How about a challenge?” she suggested, her eyes sparkling with an idea.
“A challenge? What kind of challenge?” Leo asked, intrigued.
“Let’s see if you can go a whole week with less screen time,” she proposed. “We can set goals, and if you complete them, you can choose the family activity for the weekend.”
Leo thought about it. He loved family activities, but the thought of spending less time on screens made him nervous. “What if I fail?” he asked.
His mom smiled reassuringly. “It’s not about winning or losing, Leo. It’s about discovering new things and spending time together. Plus, it’ll be fun!”
After a moment of hesitation, Leo nodded. “Okay, I’m in! But I’ll still want to play a little bit!”
“Deal,” his mom laughed, stroking his hair. “Let’s write down your goals. We can also brainstorm some fun activities, so that you can balance your time.”
注意:
(1)写作词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Leo decided to limit his screen time to only one hour each day.

As the week came to an end, Leo had a lot to reflect on.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Leo decided to limit his screen time to only one hour each day. At first, it felt strange not reaching for his tablet whenever he had free time. To fill the hours, he rediscovered old hobbies — building intricate Lego castles, sketching superheroes, and even helping his mom bake cookies. One afternoon, he joined his dad in the garden, planting flowers and learning about different types of soil. To his surprise, he found himself laughing more and feeling less restless. Though he still enjoyed his hour of screen time, he began to see it as a treat rather than the main event of his day.
As the week came to an end, Leo had a lot to reflect on. Not only had he completed the challenge, but he also realized how much he’d missed by staring at screens. His family celebrated with a trip to the zoo, his chosen activity, where he marveled at real-life animals he’d only seen in games. That night, as his mom tucked him in, he whispered, “I think I like this ‘less screen time’ thing.” She smiled, reminding him that balance was key — technology could be fun, but so could the world beyond it. Leo fell asleep dreaming of his next adventure, this time offline.

C.Reserved. D.Critical.

注意:
(1)写作词数应为150个左右;

Sund flowers are native american plants with many uses. Their oil is used for cooking oil, and their seeds can make tasty snacks. A sunflower also makes up bright and happy. Addition to any Sunny window or balcony, growing a sunflower in a pot is an easy project that even small children can enjoy. You can buy sunflower seeds from your local nursery or garden center, or you can order them online. If you want rare varieties, you may have Better luck online. Choose the size of your container based on the height of the flower you want to plant, as well as how many flowers you want in each container. Push each seed about one inch deep into the soil. If you're planting more than one seed in your container, put the seeds four to five inches apart. Sunflowers need more water than most plants as they are growing sunflowers that don't get enough water. During those early stages, we'll have thin, weak stamps that are unable to hold the heavy flower head up right so much for today. We'll be back on air tomorrow morning at seven. 66.Dear Tom,
I am sorry to hear that you were in low spirits after you did not do well in your learning ancient Chinese poems.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)

C.The writing style of Dahl’s books. D.The impact of children’s works on kids.
26.What does the underlined word “quirky” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Unusual. B.Boring. C.Predictable. D.Serious.

B.His books were more popular than Dickens’.
C.He wrote more books than J. K. Rowling did.

D
C.Reserved. D.Critical.

One of the most important things to do during an interview is to make sure you are building a connection with the interviewer. Why? 36 . Here are some steps to help you make a lasting connection during an interview.
A.Use active listening skills
B.Be aware of your body language
C.So it is vital to prepare for the interview in advance
D.Send an email or call to thank the interviewer for his time
E.The key is to create a two-way conversation with the interviewer
