Dear Peter,
How’s everything going? I am writing to seek your valuable recommendation for an English song that will be fit for me to sing in the music festival, which is to be held in the school hall next Friday afternoon.
At the beginning of the music festival, some famous singers and pianists are to give us a wonderful performance, then I will have a golden chance to share an English song with all of them, which I think will be a great experience.
I would appreciate it if you could do me the favor. Hopefully, you can attend it and you won’t regret it either. Looking forward to your reply soon.
Yours,
Li Hua
Paragraph 1: For a moment, Mrs. Martin stood frozen. Her eyes widened at the messy living room — paint splatters on the floor, scattered tools, and the broken photo frame. When she spotted the blackened cake in the oven, she let out a soft sigh. Mr. Martin lowered his head in shame, ready for criticism. Unexpectedly, Mrs. Martin walked over and gently touched his back. “Are you hurt?” she asked worriedly. Then she smiled, “We’re decorating a home, not building a palace. Mess is part of the fun.” Together, they started cleaning up, with Mr. Martin sharing his clumsy attempts to chase the spider.
Paragraph 2: With the new curtains finally in place, the doorbell rang. It was Emily, holding a big bunch of flowers. She stepped inside and gasped, “Wow, it feels like home already!” Her eyes fell on the slightly messy but warm room, and then on the black cake. Mr. Martin scratched his head awkwardly, but Emily laughed and said, “I love it — it’s full of your love.” That evening, they ordered takeout, talked and laughed while arranging photo frames. The messy living room, once a battlefield, had turned into the warmest corner of their new home.

【答案】18.A 19.C 20.A
M: I’m Susie, and I’m here to talk about improving a park in my city called central park. My interest in the park was inspired by my childhood hobbies. I used to collect wildflowers, and my books were mostly about science.
When I was young, I liked playing ball games in central park with my friends. Two years ago I went back to the park again for a walk and was amazed to see how rich it was in wildlife. But there was also lots of plastic waste lying around, so I found volunteers to help clean up the park.
Since then, the park has become popular with local people. There are two lakes in the park and they attract birds, but they need looking after as the water can dry up during dry seasons. So now I’m working with the local environmental agency to protect that. Now I’m very busy and it’s hard to fit in things like hanging out with my friends, but they understand I need to continue working on improving the park.
A
Ancient Chinese people enjoyed special summer treats similar to modern ice cream and fruit dishes. Here are three popular ones from history.
Su Shan (Crumbled Ice Dessert)
Su Shan was a dish made of crushed (碎的) ice mixed with milk and butter. Poet Wang Lingran from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) described its preparation in his poem Ode to Su Shan: sugar was added, and the dessert was shaped into various forms, sometimes decorated with flowers and leaves. The texture (口感) was unique — “neither hard nor watery, melting at once on the tongue”. Many scholars believe this was an early form of ice cream.
Ice and Iced Drinks
Though refrigerators didn’t exist, iceboxes for storing ice became common in wealthy Tang Dynasty families. People drank iced water or ate crushed ice. By the Song Dynasty (960-1279), iced drinks were widely sold on streets. Some rich people even offered free iced water and medicinal drinks, with little green beans or a sweet-taste root, on streets as community service to prevent sickness from the heat.
Cherries with Cheese and Sugar Syrup (糖浆)
During the Wei, Jin, and Southern-Northern Dynasties (220-581), dairy products like cheese became more common. In the Tang Dynasty, warmer climates in the Yellow River region led to widespread cherry growing. Cherries, ripe in early summer, were often paired with cheese and sugar syrup. Song Dynasty poet Lu You noted, “Eat cherries, peaches, and cheese together.”
These treats — added with a little extra from green beans to cherries — show how ancient Chinese people creatively cooled off in summer with flavors and textures to make them more tasty, which were very much like modern favorites.
21.What was the unique texture of Su Shan according to Wang Lingran’s poem?
A.It was hard and required chewing.
B.It felt thick and creamy like yogurt.
C.It remained hard for hours after serving.
D.It softened soon when touching the tongue.
22.Why did wealthy people offer free iced water publicly in the Song Dynasty?
A.To honor a traditional festival event.
B.To attract customers to their ice shops.
C.To introduce some new medicinal drinks.
D.To help people avoid heat-related illness.
23.What do all three treats have in common?
A.They were all for wealthy families.
B.They included tasty extra additions.
C.They included expensive food fillings.
D.They were cold desserts with medicine.
根据Su Shan (Crumbled Ice Dessert)中“The texture (口感) was unique — “neither hard nor watery, melting at once on the tongue”. Many scholars believe this was an early form of ice cream.( 其口感独特——“既不坚硬也不稀薄,入口即化”。许多学者认为这是早期的冰淇淋形式)”可知,根据王泠然的诗,苏山的独特口感是触碰舌头时很快就会变软。故选D项。
22.细节理解题。根据Ice and Iced Drinks中“Some rich people even offered free iced water and medicinal drinks, with little green beans or a sweet-taste root, on streets as community service to prevent sickness from the heat.( 一些富人甚至在街头免费提供冰水和含有小绿豆或甜味根茎的药用饮品,作为社区服务来预防炎热带来的疾病)”可知,在宋朝富人免费提供冰水,是为了帮助人们预防中暑和热病。故选D项。
根据最后一段“These treats — added with a little extra from green beans to cherries — show how ancient Chinese people creatively cooled off in summer with flavors and textures to make them more tasty, which were very much like modern favorites.( 这些美食——再加上一些来自绿豆的额外配料——展示了古代中国人如何通过独特的口味和质地来为夏日降温,使其更加美味,这与现代的美食非常相似)”可知,这三种甜点的共同之处是它们都包含美味的额外配料。故选B项。
C
For Li Donglin, an 18-year-old senior high school student, this past summer was all about cultural relic sites. He joined the cultural relics census (普查) team in Huanghua, Hebei, becoming its youngest member. This census is part of the fourth national cultural relics census, which started in November 2023 and is set to end by June 2026. Its goal is to record and get a deep understanding of the conditions of immovable cultural heritage sites, including ancient sites and tombs across the country.
Li’s love for cultural relics began at an early age. Since childhood, he has enjoyed collecting things and now has over 100 cultural artifacts Li also has repaired many artifacts, improving this skill by learning from all kinds of sources.
Despite his strong connection to ancient artifacts, this was his first time taking part in a cultural relics census. “I thought at first that the census was just about visiting sites and doing a simple investigation,” Li told Teens. However, the census work turned out to be quite opposite. In the investigation of cultural relics, measuring areas is a major task. To provide a better description of the ancient village site in Changguo Town in Huanghua, the team had to walk a long way to work out the site’s boundaries (边界). In the hot summer sun, Li made his way through overgrown corn fields to identify the boundaries in all directions, often walking up to 30,000 steps per day.
During these walks, he also needed to do some digging. “After digging, we examined the soil to find any signs of cultural relics,” Li said. “This step is key to making sure we get the boundaries right and don’t miss any relics.” Then, the team used special tools to work out the site’s total area.
“It is hard work, but being able to describe each site so that each site receives the most protection makes us very happy,” Li said.
24.What is the purpose of the national cultural relics census?
A.To build a national register of cultural relics.
B.To promote tourism in historical sites nationwide.
C.To train young students in simple investigation skills.
D.To identify the most valuable historical sites nationwide.
25.How was the census work different from Li Donglin’s first thought?
A.It required working in corn fields B.It was far more demanding
C.It needed special tools to measure areas D.It was more interesting than expected
26.What is Li Donglin like?
A.Skilled and curious. B.Patient and generous
C.Determined and careful D.Concerned and courageous.
27.What is the best title of the text?
A.18-Year-Old Teenager leads Cultural Relics Survey
B.High Schooler Joins National Cultural Relics Census
C.Teenager’s Summer Adventure in Architecture Design
D.Young Collector’s Journey of Hometown Promotion
【答案】24.A 25.B 26.C 27.B
根据第一段“Its goal is to record and get a deep understanding of the conditions of immovable cultural heritage sites, including ancient sites and tombs across the country.(其目标是记录并深入了解全国各类不可移动的文物古迹(包括古遗址和古墓)的状况)”可知,全国文物普查的目的是记录和深入了解不可移动文化遗产遗址的状况,即建立一个全国文物的登记册。故选A。
根据第三段““I thought at first that the census was just about visiting sites and doing a simple investigation,” Li told Teens. However, the census work turned out to be quite opposite. In the investigation of cultural relics, measuring areas is a major task. To provide a better description of the ancient village site in Changguo Town in Huanghua, the team had to walk a long way to work out the site’s boundaries (边界). In the hot summer sun, Li made his way through overgrown corn fields to identify the boundaries in all directions, often walking up to 30,000 steps per day.(李告诉《青少年》杂志:“起初我以为这次普查只是去一些地方进行简单的考察而已。”然而,实际情况却与预期大相径庭。在对文物的调查中,测量面积是一项重要任务。为了更准确地描述黄骅市常郭镇的古代村落遗址,团队不得不跋涉很长一段距离来确定遗址的边界。在炎热的夏日阳光下,李穿梭于杂草丛生的玉米地之间,从各个方向丈量边界,每天往往要走多达3万步)”可知,这次文物普查的工作要求要高得多。故选B。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段“In the hot summer sun, Li made his way through overgrown corn fields to identify the boundaries in all directions, often walking up to 30,000 steps per day.(在炎热的夏日阳光下,李穿梭于杂草丛生的玉米地之间,从各个方向丈量边界,每天往往要走多达3万步)”以及倒数第二段““After digging, we examined the soil to find any signs of cultural relics,” Li said. “This step is key to making sure we get the boundaries right and don’t miss any relics.”(李说:“在挖掘完成后,我们会对土壤进行检测,以寻找任何文物的痕迹。这一环节至关重要,它能确保我们准确划定边界,不会遗漏任何文物。”)”可知,李东林是个坚定且细心的人。故选C。
27.主旨大意题。根据第一段“For Li Donglin, an 18-year-old senior high school student, this past summer was all about cultural relic sites. He joined the cultural relics census (普查) team in Huanghua, Hebei, becoming its youngest member.(对于18岁的高中生李东林来说,过去的这个夏天全都是关于文物遗址的。他加入了位于河北黄骅市的文物普查小组,并成为了其中最年轻的成员)”可知,文章主要讲述了一个高中生加入全国文物普查队的故事。由此推知,B选项“高中生参与全国文物普查活动”适合作本文最佳标题。故选B。
C(改编题)
People often grumble that plastics are too durable. Water bottles, shopping bags, and other trash litter the planet because plastics are everywhere and don’t break down easily. But some plastic materials change over time. They crack and melt into sludge, all of which creates huge headaches for institutions, such as museums, trying to preserve culturally important objects.
Until recently, museums only have to worry about traditional materials. “We know how to approach the restoration of paintings, books, and materials like wood, metals, and glass,” says Anna Laganà, a research specialist at the Getty Conservation Institute. “But for plastics, our knowledge is still limited.” Tonkin, now a doctoral researcher in fashion conservation at Nottingham Trent University, agrees. “We’re now trying to figure out how to conserve plastics,” she says.
Nearly every museum in the world has plastic items, and even well-cared-for objects can fall apart alarmingly quickly. Museums are doing everything they can to save culturally important items from similar fates. But preservation of plastics will likely get harder. Old objects continue to decline. Worse, biodegradable plastics, designed to fall apart easily, are increasingly common.
We now live in an age of plastic, and what we decide to collect today, and what we decide to preserve, will have a strong impact on how we’ll be seen in the future. Future archaeologists looking at what’s left from the 21st century will probably find lots of poisonous waste, along with plenty of plastic trash. But if museum preservation efforts succeed, maybe those scholars will also see that plastic items today can be culturally meaningful – and even cherished.
28. What is the main challenge for museums mentioned in the first paragraph?
A.Collecting water bottles and shopping bags.
B.Handling the extremely durable plastic trash.
C.Preserving plastic objects that degrade easily.
D.Restoring traditional materials like wood and glass.
29. What can we infer about the preservation of plastics from the text?
A.It is easier than restoring traditional paintings.
B.It has been completely mastered by researchers.
C.It faces increasing difficulties in the future.
D.It mainly focuses on biodegradable plastic items.
30.What is the main role of Paragraph 3?
A.Explain why plastic preservation is harder than traditional ones.
B.List ways museums protect plastic cultural objects.
C.Show plastic items are common in global museums.
D.Stress the growing challenges of plastic preservation.
31.Where can this passage be found?
A.In a travel brochure. B.In a fashion magazine.
C.In a science report. D.In a science fiction book.
根据原文第一段“But some plastic materials change over time. They crack and melt into sludge, all of which creates huge headaches for institutions, such as museums, trying to preserve culturally important objects. (但有些塑料材料会随着时间发生变化。它们会开裂、融化成烂泥,这一切都给那些试图保护具有重要文化意义物品的机构(如博物馆)带来了巨大的麻烦。)”可知,博物馆面临的主要挑战是保存那些容易降解(开裂、融化)的塑料物品。选项C(保存容易降解的塑料物品)是对原文的高度概括。
根据原文第三段“But preservation of plastics will likely get harder. Old objects continue to decline. Worse, biodegradable plastics, designed to fall apart easily, are increasingly common. (但是塑料的保存可能会变得更加困难。旧物品继续恶化。更糟糕的是,设计成容易分解的可降解塑料越来越普遍。)”可以推断出,由于旧物品状况恶化以及易降解塑料的普及,塑料的保存工作在未来将面临越来越大的困难。选项C(它在未来面临着越来越多的困难)符合文意。
根据原文第一段“But some plastic materials change over time. They crack and melt into sludge, all of which creates huge headaches for institutions, such as museums, trying to preserve culturally important objects.(但有些塑料材料会随着时间发生变化。它们会开裂、融化成烂泥,这一切都给那些试图保护具有重要文化意义物品的机构(如博物馆)带来了巨大的麻烦。)”及最后一段“But if museum preservation efforts succeed, maybe those scholars will also see that plastic items today can be culturally meaningful – and even cherished.(但如果博物馆的保护工作取得成功,或许这些学者们也会认识到,如今的塑料制品也可以具有文化意义 —— 甚至值得被珍视。)”

In contrast to the often-heard views that robots will replace human workers, researchers from Gartner predict that artificial intelligence (AI) may actually create more jobs than it’s expected to take away. By 2020, artificial intelligence had created 2.3 million jobs, going beyond the 1.8 million that it had replaced, the company said in a recent report. In the following five years to 2025, net (净得的) new jobs created in relation to AI reached 2 million, according to the report.
The number of jobs affected will be different from industry to industry. The public sector (公共部门), health care and education are expected to get the most jobs, while manufacturing (制造业) and transportation may be hit the hardest, said Gartner’s research director, Manjunath Bhat.
“Robots are not here to take away our jobs; they’re here to give us a promotion. I think that’s the way we should start looking at AI,” Bhat told reporters on Tuesday.
Gartner’s positive predictions contrast with the warnings on the dangers of AI sounded by top technology industry voices such as Kai-Fu Lee, the founder of venture capital firm Sinovation Ventures. He said robots are likely to replace 50 percent of all jobs in the next decade.
Gartner acknowledged in its report that AI would cut millions of middle-and low-level positions. But it stressed that more new jobs would be created, including highly-skilled jobs, management positions and even low-skilled jobs.
“IT leaders should not only focus on the projected increase of jobs,” the report said. “For the greatest value, focus on improving people with AI. Enrich people’s jobs, reimagine old tasks and create new industries. Change your culture to make it rapidly adaptable to AI-related opportunities or threats.”
32.What does research firm Gartner think of artificial intelligence?
A.Human workers will be out of work. B.AI will create more jobs than it cuts.
C.AI will run out of human control. D.New industries will replace old ones.
33.Who are most likely to lose their jobs according to Gartner?
A.Teachers. B.Dentists. C.Bus drivers. D.Social workers.
34.What’s Kai-Fu Lee’s attitude towards the development of AI?
A.Uncertain. B.Hopeful. C.Worried. D.Confused.
35.What does research firm Gartner suggest IT leaders do?
A.Take advantage of new industry opportunities.
B.Provide people with training programmes.
C.Stop the old business and turn to new business.
D.Welcome AI and adapt to changes brought by it.

根据第二段中“The public sector (公共部门), health care and education are expected to get the most jobs, while manufacturing (制造业) and transportation may be hit the hardest, said Gartner’s research director, Manjunath Bhat. (高德纳公司研究总监曼朱纳特·巴特表示,公共部门、医疗保健和教育领域预计将创造最多的就业岗位,而制造业和交通运输业可能受到的冲击最为严重。)”可知,公交车司机属于运输业,可能会失业。故选C项。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“Gartner’s positive predictions contrast with the warnings on the dangers of AI sounded by top technology industry voices such as Kai-Fu Lee.(Gartner的积极预测与李开复等科技行业顶级人士发出的人工智能风险警告形成对比。)”
根据最后一段中的“For the greatest value, focus on improving people with AI. Enrich people’s jobs, reimagine old tasks and create new industries. Change your culture to make it rapidly adaptable to AI-related opportunities or threats.(为获得最大价值,专注于利用人工智能提升人员能力。丰富人们的工作,重新规划旧任务并创造新产业。改变企业文化,使其快速适应人工智能带来的机遇或威胁。)”可知,Gartner建议IT领导者接纳人工智能并适应其带来的变化。故选D项。

第二节 (满分 25 分)
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was the last day before moving into the new house. Mr. and Mrs. Martin wanted to make it warm and lovely, so they decided to do some decorating themselves. That morning, Mrs. Martin stood at the door, reminding her busy husband. “Don’t climb too high, don’t move heavy boxes, and don’t forget to rest,” she said again and again, before she eventually headed out to buy curtains.
Earlier, their daughter Emily had called. She said she was tied up with her job in another city, but promised, “Don’t worry, we’ll celebrate together soon.” The couple missed her, of course, but they smiled at each other and agreed it would be meaningful to get the new home ready, a warm welcome awaiting their daughter’s arrival.
Mr. Martin waved goodbye to his wife and went back to his decorating work, confident and full of energy at first. But soon the living room turned into a battlefield. Boxes, nails, a hammer and screwdrivers lay everywhere. Paint splashed onto the floor, and the wall looked like a child’s drawing. And several photo frames were scattered on the ground.
“A spider!” Mr. Martin climbed onto a shaky stool to chase it away-his wife hated those things — but instead he slipped and broke a photo frame. “Ouch, my back!” he groaned, sweat trickling down his forehead. He began to wonder whether he was really able to do this job alone.
Then came a sharp smell from the kitchen. “Oh no, my cake!” Mr. Martin dragged himself to open the oven. The cake, which he had planned to surprise his wife, was now nothing but a hard black rock. He stared at it, shaking his head. “Should I admit the mess? Or pretend nothing happened?” he whispered. Suddenly, the door creaked open. Mrs. Martin stepped inside with the new curtains in her arms.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
Paragraph 1: For a moment, Mrs. Martin stood frozen.

Paragraph 2: With the new curtains finally in place, the doorbell rang.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I'm suzy, and i'm here to talk about improving a park in my city called central park. My interest in the park was inspired by my childhood hobby. I used to collect wildflowers, and my books were mostly about science. When I was Young, I liked playing games in central park with my friends. Two years ago, I went back to the park again for a walk and was amazed to see how Richard was in wildlife. But there was also lots of plastic waste lying around, so I found volunteers to help clean up the park. Since then, the park has become popular with local people. There are two lakes in the park, and they attracted birds, but they need looking after as the water can dry up during dry seasons. So now i'm working with the local environmental agency to protect that. Now i'm very busy and it's hard to fit in things like hanging out with my friends, but they understand I need to continue working on improving the park.

A
Ancient Chinese people enjoyed special summer treats similar to modern ice cream and fruit dishes.
D
