Miss Chen, our English teacher, says to the class, “You are

‘Practice makes perfect.' It means that . .5. . you want to learn something

new, you have to practice it many times, and then you may remember
what you have learned.”
“I think so,” Lu Xi's deskmate stands up and says, “when I want to
learn some new words, I must read them again and again to . .6. . them.
Sometimes it would take a lot of time, but once I remember, I can use
them . .7. ..”
Miss Chen smiles and says, “That's right. Look at your books. We'll
learn a long English . .8. .. It seems so difficult for us to learn it well.
But after we read the story many times, we can . .9. . it to others. At the

The Ganqiu Festival is one of the oldest traditional
festivals of the Miao people in China. It falls on the first day of “Liqiu”
or the “Beginning of Autumn”. It is a time for the Miao people to
celebrate a good harvest (收成) and for young Miao men and women to
meet and have fun.#1
The Ganqiu Festival has a long history. It's said that the Miao
people drove away demons (恶魔) and began growing rice to build their
homes. Because of their hard work, they were happy with a good harvest
every autumn. The festival is a day to celebrate their success, give
10
thanks for the harvest and send good wishes to others. There are many
exciting activities to celebrate the Ganqiu Festival. During the festival, the
Miao people wear national clothes and women also wear silver hats.
These clothes and hats are the symbols of the Miao people. They enjoy
lion or dragon dances, lusheng performances and traditional dancing and
singing. Young men and women often meet their loved ones during this
time. They all enjoy themselves.
In 2014, the Ganqiu Festival became a national intangible cultural
heritage (国家非物质文化遗产). It's really a wonderful celebration filled
with happiness and pleasure!#1.2
