Passage 1
(24-25高一下·广东揭阳·期中)Recently, the topic “Chinese people can eat such a sweet melon but can’t do without this grandma” has topped the hot search list. The grandma is 94-year-old Wu Mingzhu, called the “queen of melons”, a melon-growing expert and eminent academician. Among Wu Mingzhu’s classmates was Yuan Longping, who later became the “father of hybrid rice”.
Wu Mingzhu was born in 1930 into a scholarly family in Wuhan city. After her graduation in 1953, she was assigned to work in Beijing. But Wu had already set her eyes on her long-awaited goal. “What I studied was the science of fruit and vegetables. I wanted to work in the fields, not in an office,” said Wu.
In 1955, Wu voluntarily went to work in Shanghai County, Turpan Basin, where working conditions were quite hard. She found that the Hami melon, a rare specialty fruit which was once common in the area, was in danger of becoming extinct if not properly cultivated (种植). Wu spent years visiting over 300 production teams, picking out 44 melon varieties. She overcame a variety of difficulties to produce particularly delicious melons in a scientific way, winning over the local farmers accustomed (习惯的) to folk cultivation methods. Then the promotion area covered most of Xinjiang’s main commodity (商品) areas, and a group of melon-rich villages appeared.
For more than 60 years, Wu Mingzhu and her team have cultivated more than 30 varieties, brought the sweetness of melons to people, and promoted the melon series with Chinese characteristics and a complete breeding innovation system to the world. When first hearing her nickname of “a pearl in the Turpan Basin”, Wu said, “In Xinjiang, there are thousands of science and technology workers like me. They have worked hard for decades on the frontline of agriculture. I’m just one of the ordinary ones.”

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·广东深圳·期中)Ryder was born with a physical disability and has never been able to walk. He started using a wheelchair when he was two years old. When he turned five, he started attending elementary school in June 2019, and every day had to be pushed to the end of the road to wait for his school bus by his parents, Tim and Nikea. If he was running late for the bus, he had to wait for up to 15 minutes out whatever the weather was.
In September, Ryder’s father, Tim, put up a patio (露台) umbrella at the end of his driveway to provide some shelter. However, with the wind and rain here in New England, it didn’t help much and Ryder still got wet and cold. Desperately, Tim who runs an electronics company, placed a post on Facebook, turning to his community to see if anyone could have an old bus hut (棚) which helps to protect Ryder from the bad weather.
After knowing about Ryder’s problem, three local students in Bradford, Rhode Island, decided to build a new bus hut for Ryder during their construction lessons, worrying that snow would be falling soon and Ryder would have a rough time. They worked hard on the project for several weeks, learning new skills through YouTube to create the structure. About $300 worth of wood was donated and the rest of the materials were purchased by Tim for $600. The hut was so huge that it could accommodate both Ryder and one of his parents or a nurse comfortably, and was finally delivered to their home six weeks later on November 2.
“We were shocked. It was much bigger than we expected. Ryder loved it. He did like to go out in it every day before school,” Tim said. Passage 3
(24-25高一下·广东·期中)A young Los Angeles (L. A.) actor in need of a second job to pay his bills has come up with a brilliant way to increase his income — people walking.
Chuck McCarthy originally considered becoming a dog walker to earn some extra cash, but soon realized that the job required more than walking dogs on a leash (皮带). “I don’t want to pick up dog waste, and that’s kind of what you are really being paid for, for dog walking,” he said. But people don’t usually poop when they take a walk, so Chuck realized there was money to be made if he walked people around Los Angeles instead.
It might sound like a joke, but the People Walker, as he calls himself, is very serious about his new job. For $7 per mile, he offers to walk with customers around L. A., listening to their problems or simply making conversation and offering them a sense of safety.
His services are aimed at people who need to be motivated to go walking, those who don’t feel safe walking alone in some areas, and those who are afraid that people might see them walking by themselves and think that they have no friends.
“Upon request, I wear my The People Walker shirt when walking with a new customer for the first time, so they can be 100% sure it’s me,” Chuck says. However, he admits that some people don’t agree to this policy, as they don’t necessarily want everyone to know that they are being walked.
Believe it or not, Chuck’s business has been very successful. He already has another five people walkers employed, covering various areas, like downtown L. A., Hollywood, Eagle Rock, Las Feliz or Fairefax. Once he posted signs around the city, his phone started ringing and customers began rolling in. 11.What does the author speak of in the fourth and the fifth paragraphs?
A.What kind of people Chuck prefers to employ.
B.The reason why some people don’t favour the deal.
C.How to make friends and get along well with them.

However, he admits that some people don’t agree to this policy, as they don’t necessarily want everyone to know that they are being walked.
根据最后一段“He already has another five people walkers employed, covering various areas, like downtown L. A., Hollywood, Eagle Rock (他已经在各地雇佣了另外五名行人引导员,覆盖的区域包括洛杉矶市中心、好莱坞、鹰岩)”及“Fairefax (费尔法克斯)”可知,“downtown L. A., Hollywood, Eagle Rock”和“Fairefax”都是表示地点的词,所以“Las Feliz”也应该是一个地方。 故选C。
Passage 4
(24-25高一下·广东茂名·期中)When a hurricane hit her hometown, Karen Lauder chose to stay at home because she didn’t know how strong the storm would be. Johnny and his whole family live within a few blocks of one another. They kept in touch with Karen as the storm continued violently (猛烈地) outside, watching the water rising dangerously all around them. When Karen reported that the water in her house had reached her bottom, Johnny knew he had to take action.
First, Johnny ensured his sons and their pets were taken care of. Then, he jumped out of a window and began to swim. Johnny used to work as a rescue swimmer. He is obviously a strong swimmer, but the flood water was filled with dangerous materials. There was also a strong current (水流), and he had to swim against it for most of his trip to Karen’s. As he made his way through the water, Johnny stopped periodically to snap selfies (自拍) to show his worried family that he was okay.
Johnny was racing against the clock. He knew he only had a short period of time to get there before the water rose above Karen’s head. It took him 40 minutes to swim four blocks. The sound of Karen shouting inside was music to his ears!
“If it would’ve been 20 minutes later, she wouldn’t be here,” Johnny said. “She’s never been happier to see me.”

Passage 5
(2019·全国III卷·高考真题)For Western designers, China and its rich culture have long been an inspiration for Western creative.
“It’s no secret that China has always been a source(来源) of inspiration for designers,” says Amanda Hill, chief creative officer at A+E Networks, a global media company and home to some of the biggest fashion(时尚) shows.
Earlier this year, the China Through A Looking Glass exhibition in New York exhibited 140 pieces of China-inspired fashionable clothing alongside Chinese works of art, with the aim of exploring the influence of Chinese aesthetics(美学) on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries. The exhibition had record attendance, showing that there is huge interest in Chinese influences.
“China is impossible to overlook,” says Hill. “Chinese models are the faces of beauty and fashion campaigns that sell dreams to women all over the world, which means Chinese women are not just consumers of fashion — they are central to its movement.” Of course, not only are today’s top Western designers being influenced by China—some of the best designers of contemporary fashion are themselves Chinese. “Vera Wang, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu are taking on Galliano, Albaz, Marc Jacobs—and beating them hands down in design and sales,” adds Hill.
For Hill, it is impossible not to talk about China as the leading player when discussing fashion. “The most famous designers are Chinese, so are the models, and so are the consumers,” she says. “China is no longer just another market; in many senses it has become the market. If you talk about fashion today, you are talking about China—its influences, its direction, its breathtaking clothes, and how young designers and models are finally acknowledging that in many ways.”
16.What can we learn about the exhibition in New York?
A.It promoted the sales of artworks. B.It attracted a large number of visitors.
C.It showed ancient Chinese clothes. D.It aimed to introduce Chinese models.
17.What does Hill say about Chinese women?
A.They are setting the fashion. B.They start many fashion campaigns.
C.They admire super models. D.They do business all over the world.
18.What do the underlined words “taking on” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.learning from B.looking down on C.working with D.competing against
19.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Young Models Selling Dreams to the World
B.A Chinese Art Exhibition Held in New York
C.Differences Between Eastern and Western Aesthetics
D.Chinese Culture Fueling International Fashion Trends
【答案】16.B 17.A 18.D 19.D

17.细节理解题。根据第四段中Hill所说的话“Chinese models are the faces of beauty and fashion campaigns that sell dreams to women all over the world, which means Chinese women are not just consumers of fashion — they are central to its movement.”(中国模特是向世界各地的女性推销梦想的美丽和时尚运动的面孔,这意味着中国女性不仅仅是时尚的消费者——她们是这场运动的核心。)可知,Hill说中国女性正在引领新时尚,故选A。
18.词义猜测题。根据下文and beating them hands down in design and sales说在设计和销售上击败他们,由此推断出上文Vera Wang, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu are taking on Galliano, Albaz, Mare Jacobs的意思是Vera Wang、Alexander Wang和Jason Wu正在与Galliano、Albaz和 Mare Jacobs竞争。
Passage 1
(24-25高一下·广东佛山·期中)I was born with a disability and I couldn’t move freely. From the moment I sought admission to schools, doors were closed to me and the possibility of receiving an education was distant. That’s because society incorrectly judges a person’s IQ by their voice and body movements. People think that if a person’s voice is clear and their body movements are proper, their IQ is high.
Fortunately, my parents and sister, driven by love, searched tirelessly until they discovered a school that would take me in. The leader there was a very progressive person and could see beyond my challenges. Her support, along with that of some teachers and my classmates, really helped me throughout my school life. Every day their acts of kindness, like taking me to the toilet and taking notes for me during class, were very helpful. I got better at learning and living.
However, success didn’t come easily after graduation. Though I landed a job at a company, I was fired within months because of my disability. I felt very sad that after working so hard for my education, I was still judged by my physical condition. I decided to fight. I turned to the High Court (法院) for help. The court asked me to take an ability test, after which I won the case and the decision to fire me was struck down. Later, with confidence in my own abilities, I founded my computer training center, where I taught invaluable skills to more than a thousand individuals.
I’d like to see more done though. I’d like to see the government include Disabilities Studies from the primary school level to make the world a more welcoming place for everyone. People should know that with proper education and training, a disabled person can do anything the so-called able-bodied person can do.
20.Why was the author refused by many schools?
A.Her intelligence was doubted.
B.Her speaking skills were questioned.
C.Her physical appearance was strange.
D.Her educational experiences were limited.

A.She helped change the law.
B.She proved her own ability.
C.She couldn’t perform her work well.
D.She didn’t want to teach computer skills.
22.What is the author’s hope for the future?
A.The disabled should work harder.
B.The court is always on the disabled’s side.
C.The government takes education seriously.
D.The society changes attitude towards disabilities.
【答案】20.A 21.B 22.D

People think that if a person’s voice is clear and their body movements are proper, their IQ is high.(这是因为社会错误地通过一个人的声音和身体动作来判断他们的智商。人们认为,如果一个人的声音清晰,肢体动作得体,那么他们的智商就高)”可知,作者被许多学校拒绝是因为她的智力受到了怀疑。故选A。
21.推理判断题。根据第三段中“The court asked me to take an ability test, after which I won the case and the decision to fire me was struck down. Later, with confidence in my own abilities, I founded my computer training center, where I taught invaluable skills to more than a thousand individuals.(法院要求我参加能力测试,之后我赢了官司,解雇我的决定被推翻。后来,我对自己的能力有了信心,我创办了自己的计算机培训中心,在那里我向一千多人传授了宝贵的技能)”可知,作者通过参加能力测试并赢得官司,最终证明了自己的能力,并创办了自己的计算机培训中心。故选B。

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·广东广州·期中)In my childhood, whenever I was being unreasonable, or questioning whatever direction my mother was giving, she would say “I’m the momma and you’re the baby.” End of discussion. Until one day she asked me to do something for her and I said, “No. You’re the momma; I’m the baby.” It gave her a good laugh.
But, at 31, I’m realizing the situation might be changing. She’s the momma; I’m the baby. But I’m also something else now. More will be asked of me to take care of her. My mother is getting older.
The realization hit me during a recent visit home. In my memory, our house wasn’t spotless, but I’d call it tidy. Weekends were for cleaning. Yet during this visit I was taken aback by piles upon piles of mail and papers and junk. A fridge full of spoiled food. A mountain of clothes begging to be located. Was it always this way? When did she become a hoarder (囤积者)? A symptom of aging?
But my mother would like you to know something: She is not a hoarder. She spoke frankly with more self-awareness than I expected about life and time and happiness. “The time that I have to go through those things would be my weekends. Do I want to spend my Saturday afternoon going through all the junk? Or do I want to go hang out with my friends? I think the latter. I don’t want to spend one minute of my free time doing anything that doesn’t bring me joy,” she says.
It’s not that my mother has no worries about aging, but she came to terms with it long before. “Trey, you could spend so much time worrying about things that aren’t perfect. Then time passes by, and they’re never going to be,” she continues. “I think happiness is a moment-to-moment, day-to-day kind of thing. It’s not something you hold on to. I still think I’m cool — that might be in my head, but so what.”
23.What was the author’s tone in his response to Mom in paragraph 1?
A.Unwilling. B.Pleased. C.Serious. D.Sympathetic.
24.What made the author think Mom was a hoarder at first?
A.Her refusal to donate old stuff. B.The mess in Mom’s house.
C.Her preference for an economical life. D.The fading of Mom’s health.
25.Why didn’t Mom tidy the house on weekends?
A.She had plans with her friends.
B.She was too old to do it on her own.
C.She desired a pleasant time for herself.
D.She had trouble sorting out the junk.
26.Which of the following may best describe Mom?
A.Kind but old-fashioned. B.Confident but untidy.
C.Hardworking and funny. D.Positive and adaptable.
【答案】23.A 24.B 25.C 26.D

I don’t want to spend one minute of my free time doing anything that doesn’t bring me joy,
根据第四段“I don’t want to spend one minute of my free time doing anything that doesn’t bring me joy,(我不想在空闲时间花一分钟做任何不能给我带来快乐的事情)”和第五段“I still think I’m cool — that might be in my head, but so what.(我仍然觉得自己很酷——这可能是我的想法,但那又怎样)”可推知,妈妈注重当下的快乐,对生活态度积极,且能适应变老的现状。故选D。
Passage 3
(24-25高一下·广东深圳·期中)The cloud forest of the Western Andes in Colombia is one of nature recordist Juan Pablo Culasso’s favorite places in the world. He loves the bird songs he records, without the insect noises that are so common in other nearby regions.
Born blind, Culasso pays more attention to the sounds of nature than most birders. In fact, he can identify more than 2,000 birds by their song. Now he and his partners in Colombia have developed birding trails (路线). These trails enable people who are blind or have poor eyesight to visit the cloud forest of San Antonio. They can enjoy the birds of the area. The trails include six separate locations. The locations offer tours with specially trained guides.
Blind visitor Gabriel Soto took his first bird trip on one of the trails earlier this year. He also had an audio guide with recordings of 50 common birds in the area. “It’s wonderful because it makes me experience birding freely.” he says. He went home that day with a new interest in birds. And now he often tries to identify bird sounds at home. “When you can identify them, you enjoy them a lot more,” he adds.
Using his knowledge of birdsong and tourism, Culasso trained local guides and tourist operators. During training, he asked guides to try to experience nature as he did. He challenged them to describe ecosystems in a detailed way without sight. What also makes the project unique is that the tours can be organized at any time, not just as scheduled special events.
Culasso hopes that encouraging bird tourism can drive the protection of this unique ecosystem. For example, the multicolored tanager, his favorite bird, was seldom seen just four years ago. Thanks to the local environmental protection, today this beautiful bird is often seen and heard. Culasso says when nature is within reach, everyone wins.
27.What are the birding trails in San Antonio designed to do?
A.Support scientific research on local forests.
B.Provide job opportunities for blind guides.
C.Bring nature to those with sight problems.
D.Apply new technology to bird feeding.
28.How does the project benefit visitors according to Gabriel Soto?
A.By enabling creative bird photography. B.By inspiring active bird exploration.
C.By improving communication skills. D.By increasing physical activity.
29.What is a special feature of Culasso’s training approach?
A.Stressing the senses beyond sight. B.Organizing adventurous guiding trips.
C.Allowing planning of volunteer events. D.Encouraging memorization of bird species.
30.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.Travel through Colombia’s rainforest B.Teach bird-watching to nature lovers
C.Save endangered birds actively D.Enjoy birding through sound

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·广东省深圳实验学校·期中)By the middle of the last decade, I had been studying Indian Butterflies for over 20 years. However, I had never observed butterflies at high altitudes in the trans-Himalayan habitat. So, in 2015, I decided to visit Ladakh to search for butterflies.
My first “butterflying” visit to Ladakh was in June 2016, then in July of the same year, followed by another visit in August 2018. For these visits, I charted out a two-week schedule on each occasion. I covered some of the well-known locations.
Each habitat we explored had its unique mix of butterfly species. By trickling streams and wet areas, we found Small and Dusky Green Underwings, along with numerous Meadowblues, all part of the Blues family. In alpine meadows, countless white and yellow butterflies from the Yellows and Whites family fluttered (翩翩飞舞) about. More than once, I’d spot a white or yellow butterfly flying across the meadow, and chase after it, only to find myself out of breath in Ladakh’s thin air while the butterfly gracefully flew away. Once, I chased a Butler’s Dwarf butterfly for 15 minutes, managing only a few photos before it disappeared. Another time, I spotted dozens of Clouded Yellow butterflies in an alpine meadow. I spent half an hour chasing them, only for them to fly away each time.
Over the course of multiple visits to Ladakh for butterfly observation, I’ve had the remarkable opportunity to photograph more than 40 “lifers” — species I encountered for the very first time. These discoveries have added valuable knowledge to the field and led to the publication of two research papers in the “Journal of Threatened Taxa.”
In addition to this, І partnered with the Snow Leopard Conservancy to create a small booklet showcasing 50 butterfly species found in Ladakh, with the goal of raising awareness and promoting butterfly watching as a unique and sustainable activity. This initiative aims to inspire both locals and tourists to explore the rich biodiversity of the region, while fostering a greater appreciation for Ladakh’s delicate ecosystems.

Passage 2
(24-25·广州市华南师范大学附属中学·期中)I can’t believe I’m doing this! It’s 4:30 in the morning, pitch black and freezing cold. Nevertheless I find myself getting out of bed and getting dressed. A car horn sounds as I’m putting on a thick coat and wrapping a scarf around me. I grab a hat and join Jim in his car. He doesn’t seem to mind it’s cold and dark. In fact, he’s smiling. “You’re going to love this,” he says as we drive off to the nearest park. I’m not so sure.
At any opportunity Jim will be watching quietly, and sometimes excitedly, through his telescope at a bird. Don’t get me wrong. I like birds, but I just don’t get as crazy about them as Jim. Recently, when he found out that I had never heard the dawn chorus, he insisted that we meet at this unearthly hour and head for the local park.
So here we are. Luckily Jim has brought hot coffee and a warm carpet to sit on. After ten shivering minutes there is a very faint light over the eastern side of the park, a suggestion of the day ahead.
“Listen,” whispers Jim. I listen, nothing. Then clearly and loudly a bird starts singing. “That’s the robin. He’s usually the first.” After a few seconds another bird joins in “A blackbird” and then another “A bluebird”. It’s amazing. Twenty minutes later the whole park is alive with the chorus, calling, singing of birds! And yes, it’s wonderful! The noise is incredible. The lighter the sky becomes, the louder the birds sing, an incredible birds’ concert.
“Wow, so are they singing because they’re happy?” I ask in disbelief.
“Not really,” Jim laughs, “in fact they’re hungry but they need to do two things. One is to defend their territory and the other is to find a female — by singing they can achieve both.” Jim sees my puzzled face and explains.
We listen together for a while and then slowly but surely, as the sun emerges above the trees, the birds stop singing. “Now it’s light enough to find food, and that’s the end of the show today.”
35.What is the author’s first attitude to the early outing?
A.Cautious. B.Unwilling. C.Passionate. D.Indifferent.

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·广东省珠海市·期中)Ten years ago, Price Hill resident Patti Hogan noticed a problem in her neighborhood. Instead of letting the problem go on, she took action. Hogan is now a board member for the program she launched a decade ago, the Price Hill Safety Community Action Team (CAT). The community program works to beautify Price Hill while also keeping kids out of trouble.
Hogan has lived in Price Hill all her life and started the Safety CAT to address a significant problem she was seeing in the community. “We had a terrible problem with young kids just standing around on the street and wrestling with each other,” Hogan said. Along with fights, Hogan says streets were filled with abandoned homes and overgrown grass. Not wanting to move away, she thought about what she could do — attack the problem head-on.
Each Saturday during the summer, the sounds of lawnmowers (割草机) fill the neighborhood. Those who are making this “music” are the neighborhood kids who are part of the Safety CAT. They come together to cut and clean up the lawns of abandoned homes.
Hogan helps teach the kids how to work a landscape, and how to earn a dollar — they bring home around $45 each week. As Hogan explains, the lesson is more than about money. “We’re keeping them busy and then they’re giving back to the neighborhood by changing some of the blight (破败之处) and in the process, we’re teaching them values and character lessons as we go,” Hogan explains. She also hopes she is teaching them to treasure their neighborhood as much as she does.
That love has spread to the children on the program. Philip Miller, who graduated from the 10-week summer program two years ago, now comes back to help guide the other kids. “This program helps you look at work as a team and also work on your individual personal growth,” explains Miller.
Hogan says they still have spaces open for anyone interested in getting their child involved, and they are always looking for volunteers.
5.Why did Patti Hogan start the program?
A.To offer old people free services.
B.To make her neighborhood a better place.
C.To raise public awareness about environmental issues.
D.To make officials aware of the problems facing Price Hill.
6.How does the program benefit the kids according to Patti Hogan?
A.It allows them to make money each day.
B.It teaches them practical skills for their future.
C.It helps them know about their neighborhood.
D.It assists them in shaping good personal qualities.
7.What does Philip Miller’s story show?
A.The program really works well. B.Children need space to volunteer more.
C.The program changed the kids’ career path. D.Children need a role model in their personal growth.
8.What can we say about Patti Hogan after reading the text?
A.She has a tough but gentle nature. B.She is narrow-minded but generous.
C.She has a strong sense of social responsibility. D.She is eagerly seeking support for her program.

Passage 3
(24-25高一下·广东深圳·期中)Chinese architect Liu Jiakun, born in Chengdu in 1956, has been awarded the 2025 Pritzker Architecture Prize, often called the “Nobel Prize of architecture.” His childhood memories of exploring the brick hospital where his mother worked as a doctor deeply influenced his architectural vision. From the rooftop, he observed Chengdu’s mix of traditional wooden homes and modern buildings — a balance that later inspired his design philosophy.
After graduating in 1982, Liu worked in an architecture firm but struggled to balance his architectural work with his comparatively stronger passion for writing. He described this period as having “two identities.” However, writing has given him more perspectives to observe society and human behavior, which enriches his architectural work. These days, Liu said, he sees similarities between the two: both sharing similar vocabularies like beginnings, build-ups, climaxes, and endings.
Liu also applies this vocabulary to busy public spaces. His West Village commercial complex, built in Chengdu in 2015, fills an entire old block with modern buildings, bike paths, monuments and walkways for pedestrians. A 2020 art exhibition praised it as “translating traditional Chinese cultural ethos (精髓) into contemporary architectural language”.
Perhaps nothing sums up Liu’s approach more effectively than the “recycled bricks” he formed after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake destroyed entire villages northwest of Chengdu. To help with rebuilding, Liu made bricks, using straw and the rubble (碎砖瓦) left from the fallen buildings. “You can see history in each brick,” he said, adding that their production stopped after there was no more debris (残骸). “But in the world, as long as there are disasters like earthquakes, we can always find a use for recycled bricks.”
9.What inspired Liu Jiakun’s architectural philosophy during his childhood?
A.His mother’s medical career.
B.Studying ancient Chinese literature.
C.Designing hospitals with brick materials.
D.His observations from the hospital rooftop.
10.How did Liu’s passion for writing influence his architectural work?
A.It limited his creativity in public spaces.
B.It expanded his vocabulary in architecture.
C.It provided him with broader social perspectives.
D.It almost caused him to lose a professional identity.
11.Which aspect of West Village complex best reflects Liu’s design philosophy?
A.Its use of recycled construction materials.
B.Its function as an ideal space for art exhibitions.
C.Its emphasis on high-profit commercial activities.
D.Its application of traditional cultural elements to modern architecture.
12.What does Liu imply by saying “you can see history in each brick” in paragraph 4?
A.The bricks contain ancient texts.
B.The bricks are designed to last for centuries.
C.The bricks reflect the destruction of modern cities.
D.The bricks physically show fragments of fallen buildings.
根据第一段第三句“From the rooftop, he observed Chengdu’s mix of traditional wooden homes and modern buildings — a balance that later inspired his design philosophy. (从屋顶上,他观察到了成都传统木结构房屋与现代建筑的混合——这种平衡后来启发了他的设计理念。)”可知,刘家琨的建筑哲学灵感来源于对医院屋顶的观察。故选D项。
10.细节理解题。根据第二段第三句“However, writing has given him more perspectives to observe society and human behavior, which enriches his architectural work. (然而,写作给了他更多观察社会和人类行为的视角,从而丰富了他的建筑作品。) ”可知,写作拓宽他的社会视角,从而影响了他的建筑创作。故选C项。
11.细节理解题。根据第三段最后一句“A 2020 art exhibition praised it as “translating traditional Chinese cultural ethos (精髓) into contemporary architectural language”. (2020年的一场艺术展览称赞它“将中国传统文化精髓转化为现代建筑语言”。)”可知,西村商业综合体最能体现他设计理念的特点是将传统文化元素融入现代建筑。故选D项。
12.词句猜测题。根据第四段第二句“To help with rebuilding, Liu made bricks, using straw and the rubble left from the fallen buildings. (为了帮助重建,刘家琨用稻草和倒塌建筑的碎砖瓦制作砖块。)”可知,“you can see history in each brick”指的是每块砖都物理上承载着倒塌建筑的碎片,从而体现了历史痕迹。故选D项。
Passage 4
And with all the free publicity he has been getting in the press lately, he has been overwhelmed (应接不暇的) with requests.
13.What does Chuck do when taking a walk with his customers?
A.He mainly provides them with spiritual comfort.
B.He mainly supplies them with the latest news.
C.He mainly tells them some amusing stories.
D.He mainly informs them of his acting skills.
14.How does Chuck treat the job?
A.Easily. B.Impatiently. C.Jokingly. D.Sincerely.
15.What does the author speak of in the fourth and the fifth paragraphs?
A.What kind of people Chuck prefers to employ.
B.The reason why some people don’t favour the deal.
C.How to make friends and get along well with them.
D.What customers must pay attention to when walking.
16.What might be “Las Feliz” underlined in the last paragraph?
A.A present. B.A pet. C.A place. D.An advertisement.
【答案】13.A 14.D 15.B 16.C

13.细节理解题。根据第三段“For $7 per mile, he offers to walk with customers around L. A., listening to their problems or simply making conversation and offering them a sense of safety. (他以每英里7美元的价格,主动提出陪顾客在洛杉矶各处散步,倾听他们的烦恼,或是简单聊聊天,给他们提供安全感)” 可知,Chuck陪客户散步时会倾听他们的问题、聊天并给他们安全感,也就是在精神上给予他们安慰。故选A。
14.推理判断题。根据第三段“It might sound like a joke, but the People Walker, as he calls himself, is very serious about his new job. (这听起来可能像个笑话,但这位自称“行人引导员”的人对他的新工作非常认真)”可知,Chuck对他的工作非常认真。故选D。
15.主旨大意题。根据第四段“His services are aimed at people who need to be motivated to go walking, those who don’t feel safe walking alone in some areas, and those who are afraid that people might see them walking by themselves and think that they have no friends. (他的服务面向那些需要有人激励才能去散步的人、那些在某些地区独自走路时感到不安全的人,以及那些担心别人看到自己独自行走会以为自己没有朋友的人)”及第五段““Upon request, I wear my The People Walker shirt when walking with a new customer for the first time, so they can be 100% sure it’s me,” Chuck says. However, he admits that some people don’t agree to this policy, as they don’t necessarily want everyone to know that they are being walked. (“应客户要求,我会在第一次陪同新客户走路时穿上我的行人引导员T恤,这样他们就能百分之百确定是我。”Chuck说道。然而,他承认有些人并不赞同这一做法,因为他们并不希望所有人都知道自己需要有人陪着走路)”说明了Chuck的服务对象中有人不赞成他穿着特定衬衫这一做法的原因,也就是有些人不喜欢这个业务的原因。故选B。
16.词义猜测题。根据最后一段“He already has another five people walkers employed, covering various areas, like downtown L. A., Hollywood, Eagle Rock (他已经在各地雇佣了另外五名行人引导员,覆盖的区域包括洛杉矶市中心、好莱坞、鹰岩)”及“Fairefax (费尔法克斯)”可知,“downtown L. A., Hollywood, Eagle Rock”和“Fairefax”都是表示地点的词,所以“Las Feliz”也应该是一个地方。 故选C。

Passage 1
The family sent a photo of Ryder in the bus shelter and thanked the teens for their hard work. This project brought his community together, showing that there is kindness in this world.

C.They built the hut as part of a school competition.
D.They intended to put their previous skills into practice.
19.What does the underlined word “accommodate” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Be tolerant to. B.Provide space for. C.Provide home for. D.Be accustomed to.

Passage 2
21.What are the birding trails in San Antonio designed to do?
A.Support scientific research on local forests.
B.Provide job opportunities for blind guides.
C.Bring nature to those with sight problems.
D.Apply new technology to bird feeding.
22.How does the project benefit visitors according to Gabriel Soto?
A.By enabling creative bird photography. B.By inspiring active bird exploration.
C.By improving communication skills. D.By increasing physical activity.
23.What is a special feature of Culasso’s training approach?
A.Stressing the senses beyond sight. B.Organizing adventurous guiding trips.
C.Allowing planning of volunteer events. D.Encouraging memorization of bird species.
24.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.Travel through Colombia’s rainforest B.Teach bird-watching to nature lovers
C.Save endangered birds actively D.Enjoy birding through sound
【答案】21.C 22.B 23.A 24.D
【导语】这是一篇记叙文。讲述了天生失明的库拉索开发观鸟路线,让视力不佳者通过声音赏鸟,推动生态保护,实现多方共赢。
21.细节理解题。根据第二段“These trails enable people who are blind or have poor eyesight to visit the cloud forest of San Antonio. They can enjoy the birds of the area.(这些路线能让失明或视力不好的人参观圣安东尼奥的云雾森林。他们可以欣赏该地区的鸟类。)”可知,圣安东尼奥的观鸟路线是为了让有视力问题的人接触自然。故选C。
22.推理判断题。根据第三段“He also had an audio guide with recordings of 50 common birds in the area. ‘It’s wonderful because it makes me experience birding freely.’ he says. He went home that day with a new interest in birds. And now he often tries to identify bird sounds at home. ‘When you can identify them, you enjoy them a lot more,’ he adds.(他还有一个音频指南,里面有该地区50种常见鸟类的录音。‘这太棒了,因为它让我能自由地体验观鸟。’他说。那天回家后,他对鸟类有了新的兴趣。现在他经常在家里尝试识别鸟叫声。‘当你能识别它们时,你会更加享受它们。’他补充道。)”可知,这个项目激发了游客积极地探索鸟类。故选B。
23.细节理解题。根据第四段“During training, he asked guides to try to experience nature as he did. He challenged them to describe ecosystems in a detailed way without sight.(在培训期间,他让导游像他一样尝试体验自然。他要求他们在没有视觉的情况下详细描述生态系统。)”可知,库拉索的培训方法强调除视觉外的其他感官体验。故选A。

Passage 1
25.What was the author’s tone in his response to Mom in paragraph 1?
A.Unwilling. B.Pleased. C.Serious. D.Sympathetic.
26.What made the author think Mom was a hoarder at first?
A.Her refusal to donate old stuff. B.The mess in Mom’s house.
C.Her preference for an economical life. D.The fading of Mom’s health.
27.Why didn’t Mom tidy the house on weekends?
A.She had plans with her friends.
B.She was too old to do it on her own.
C.She desired a pleasant time for herself.
D.She had trouble sorting out the junk.
28.Which of the following may best describe Mom?
A.Kind but old-fashioned. B.Confident but untidy.
C.Hardworking and funny. D.Positive and adaptable.
【答案】25.A 26.B 27.C 28.D

26.细节理解题。根据第三段“Yet during this visit I was taken aback by piles upon piles of mail and papers and junk. A fridge full of spoiled food. A mountain of clothes begging to be located.(然而在这次拜访中,我被一堆堆的邮件、文件和垃圾惊呆了。冰箱里装满了变质的食物。堆积如山的衣服等着被收拾)”可知,妈妈家中的杂乱让作者起初认为她是囤积者。故选B。
27.细节理解题。根据第四段“The time that I have to go through those things would be my weekends. Do I want to spend my Saturday afternoon going through all the junk? Or do I want to go hang out with my friends? I think the latter. I don’t want to spend one minute of my free time doing anything that doesn’t bring me joy, (我必须经历这些事情的时间是我的周末。我想在周六下午花时间处理所有垃圾吗?还是我想和朋友出去玩?我想是后者。我不想在空闲时间花一分钟做任何不能给我带来快乐的事情)”可知,妈妈周末不整理房子是因为她想让自己度过愉快的时光。故选C。
28.推理判断题。根据第四段“I don’t want to spend one minute of my free time doing anything that doesn’t bring me joy,(我不想在空闲时间花一分钟做任何不能给我带来快乐的事情)”和第五段“I still think I’m cool — that might be in my head, but so what.(我仍然觉得自己很酷——这可能是我的想法,但那又怎样)”可推知,妈妈注重当下的快乐,对生活态度积极,且能适应变老的现状。故选D。
Passage 2
(24-25高一下·广东省深圳市罗湖区深圳市第二实验学校·期中)Carrying her beloved erhu, which had been passed down from her grandmother, 17-year-old Li Mei from Chengdu stepped off the plane in Paris in July 2024. As part of a youth cultural exchange program, she had dreamed of this moment for years. However, the weight of representing her heritage in a foreign land left her palms sweaty. Little did she know that this trip would spark an extraordinary musical creation.
During a workshop at a local art school, Li met Pierre, a French violinist who was fascinated by her instrument’s attractive sound. “It’s like the voice of ancient China,” he remarked with excitement, gently plucking(拨) the erhu’s strings. Inspired by each other’s music, they decided to mix the soulful melodies (旋律) of the erhu with the dynamic range of the violin for a performance at the upcoming Bastille Day celebration.
As they practiced in a sunlit studio overlooking the Seine, Li taught Pierre how to imitate raindrops with quick bow movements on the erhu, while Pierre showed her how to weave Western harmonies into the Chinese folk tune “Jasmine Flower.” The integration created a charming soundscape that neither had imagined possible. On the performance night, their piece “Silk Road Echoes” received thunderous applause. The audience were amazed at how the erhu’s sad tones danced with the violin’s vigorous melodies.
What began as a summer experiment blossomed into lasting friendship and something far greater. Today, Li and Pierre co-teach virtual music classes, connecting students in Chengdu and Lyon through weekly “global jam sessions.” Their students cooperate on pieces that mix erhu with guitar or Peking opera with jazz. Li often tells her pupils, “Music has no borders; it’s a language that turns differences into harmonies.” When traditions meet with open hearts, they don’t conflict; they compose something entirely new.
29.Why did Li Mei bring her erhu to Paris?
A.To share Chinese music culture.
B.To give it to her friend as a present.
C.To display it at a local studio.
D.To teach students full - time.
30.What caused the first cooperation of Li Mei and Pierre?
A.Love for Chinese music.
B.Desire to teach music.
C.Celebration opportunity.
D.Mutual music inspiration.
31.Why was “Silk Road Echoes” well received by the audience?
A.It reflected the beauty of nature.
B.It featured traditional Chinese folk music.
C.It showed instruments perfectly.
D.It bridged different civilizations musically.
32.What does the story mainly convey?
A.Music is the source of lasting friendship.
B.Mastering an instrument requires practice.
C.Traditional music resists modern influences.
D.Cooperation across cultures generates innovation.

主题01 人与社会 —— 人间万象

C.The government takes education seriously.
D.The society changes attitude towards disabilities.

(24-25高一下·广东深圳·期中)Lakshmi Muralidhara, 31, is deeply involved in preparing for the upcoming 10-day Onam festival celebrated in Kerala, India. She is busy helping the cooks with some traditional dishes. At their small manufacturing (制造) unit in Kerala, Lakshmi often refers to her mother’s handwritten cookbook. It’s a valuable guide that reminds her to stick to the original dishes, use time-honored methods of preparation and ensure the taste of food items remains the same.
Lakshmi was only 10 years old when her mother Vinaya PG began the business of selling Kerala and Konkani specialities. After school, young Lakshmi eagerly looked forward to tasting the day’s specials.

Passage 4
Passage 1
Passage 2

Passage 1
25.What was the author’s tone in his response to Mom in paragraph 1?
