“have a hard life”是固定搭配,意为“过着艰难的生活”;“live(居住)”是动词,“work(工作)”、“job(职业)”均不符合“描述生活状态”的语境。
后文提到“The roads are wide and clean(道路又宽又干净)”,因此此处对应的是“roads(道路)”;“buildings(建筑)”、“cities(城市)”、“countries(国家)”均与后文“道路”的描述不匹配。
前文对比“过去住在小而旧的房子里”,现在对应的居住场所是“flats(公寓)”;“rooms(房间)”范围太小,“offices(办公室)”、“schools(学校)”不是居住场所,均不符合语境。
国家发展后,人们的生活水平提升,“richer(更富有的)”符合;“poorer(更贫穷的)”与“发展”逻辑相反,“taller(更高的)”、“shorter(更矮的)”是描述身高,与生活状态无关。
根据“come to visit China(来参观中国)”,可知主体是“tourists(游客)”;“teachers(教师)”、“workers(工人)”、“farmers(农民)”均不是“参观”的主要群体。
看到中国的变化,外来者的反应应是“surprised(惊讶的)”;“sad(难过的)”、“tired(疲惫的)”不符合“参观”的情绪,“interesting(有趣的)”是描述事物,不能形容人的感受。
后文提到“We learn that our country is so amazing(我们了解到我们的国家如此了不起)”,因此是“teaches(教)”;“shows(展示)”、“asks(询问)”、“wants(想要)”均不符合“通过影片学习”的逻辑。
“should”后接动词原形,“love(热爱)”符合条件;“loved(过去式)”、“loving(现在分词)”、“loves(第三人称单数)”均不符合“should+动词原形”的结构。
“more beautiful(更美丽)”是比较级,可用“much”修饰比较级,加强程度;“many”修饰可数名词复数,“more(更多)”、“most(最)”与“more beautiful”搭配逻辑不通。

A Day in Shanghai
Shanghai is truly one of the most exciting cities in China. Home to over 24 million people, this amazing city sits on the coast of the East China Sea. From modern skyscrapers to ancient temples to busy shopping streets, there is no doubt this city has a bit of everything.
Last summer, my family and I took a trip to Shanghai. Our first stop was the Bund (外滩). It was amazing to see the old buildings on one side and the modern skyscrapers on the other. We took many photos there. A trip to Shanghai would not be complete without seeing this famous place.

It was interesting to learn about the history of this place, which has been an important part of Shanghai for over 400 years.
At night, we went to the Huangpu River for a boat cruise. It was fun sitting on the deck and watching the city lights shine brightly. Gus Kiebel, a wildlife officer, was driving home when he saw the dogs in the snow. He noticed they wore collars with name tags. Gus stopped his truck and gently approached them. The dogs didn’t try to run away. He read their names and tried calling the number on their tags, but the snow made it hard to use his phone.

Millions of years ago, dinosaurs controlled the earth. And there were different kinds of dinosaurs on earth. Some of them were no bigger than chickens, while some were about 90 feet long. But all of them had very small brains. Later on, there weren’t any dinosaurs. What happened to them?
In the days of dinosaurs, the whole earth was warm and wet. There were many green forests. But the earth changed slowly all the time. When parts of the earth became freezing and dry, the forests there died. Then dinosaurs could not find enough food to eat. This must be one reason why dinosaurs died out.
There were also terrible fights between dinosaurs. Though there was no man to see any of the fights, the animals’ footprints could tell us that the fights did happen.
What’s another reason? We can make a guess. New kinds of animals might come to the earth. Some of them had big brains and were fast and strong. They could kill dinosaurs. Some ate dinosaur eggs, too.
There may be other reasons that we do not know about. Each year people will find some dinosaur footprints and bones. Scientists are trying to tell us more about dinosaurs.

Wednesday was the most exciting day. We did a chemistry experiment in the lab. Watching the color change from purple to silver was like magic! On Thursday, we learned how to search for information online effectively in the computer class. The teacher showed us how to tell if a website is trustworthy. Finally, on Friday, we learned to cook a simple healthy meal in the life skills class. It wasn’t easy, but eating what we cooked was the best reward!
