Playing with toys is an essential part of childhood. Then what happens to the toys that are no longer enjoyed? Usually they get stored somewhere and forgotten. To 1 this, several companies offer the service of renting (租用) toys. Should parents rent toys for their kids?
Some people say “YES”. They think if lots of children play with the same toys, fewer toys will be 2 . Besides, renting toys allows children to try out lots of different types of toys. Another advantage is that there will be less 4 at home. This will save time to tidy up.
But some people think differently. For them, owning a favourite toy is a special thing. The owner takes good care of the toy and every time he plays with it, his connection with the toy becomes 5 . Changing toys all the time makes such connection less possible. In addition, sending rented toys back to those companies is a lot of work, and the delivery vans which take the toys around create 6 . This brings harm to the environment. So if toy owners get bored, they can simply pass the toys on to their friends or relatives.

Habits of Successful Language Learners
As a language learner, you are not alone. About 1.2 billion people worldwide are learning a(n) 1 language. However, not all of them enjoy an easy path. We talked to hundreds of successful language learners. They shared with us some of their habits.
One key to long-term achievement is working towards the goal 2 . Most successful language learners make sure to spend a few minutes practicing every day. We also studied some “nine-to-fivers (朝九晚五)”. These language learners practice their language only in class. In the long run, they show much 3 progress than those who practice daily. They are also more likely to “drop out”.
The second habit of successful language learners is that they don’t “binge study (临时抱佛脚)”. Learners who practice now and then to catch up with their study goals are more likely to give up altogether. Some language learners always want to learn as much new material as they can. But it has been proved that one gradually forgets what he or she has learned over time. Let’s be honest: Do you still remember all the English words and expressions you learned last year? Successful language learners 4 the old material regularly. Regular revision turns your short - term memory into long-term memory.
Are you having a hard time improving your English? Then you may try to 5 these three habits. Don’t worry if it takes time. Mastering a second language is a long 6 —it should take time!

Do you ever feel like you should only want to get happiness? Think again! Emotions (情绪) that are often unpleasant to feel, like anger and sadness, can actually be 1 too, according to experts.
At the Emotion Science Lab at Texas A & M University, emotions are studied to see how they 2 people. And Heather Lench, the director of the lab, says negative emotions can act like a “Swiss Army Knife”, helping us in certain situations.
For example, sadness is an emotion which is caused by losing a goal or desired result. People aren’t able to do anything about it. While doing nothing might feel like a waste of time, Lench says it can help us recover from failure. And when people are sad, they spend more time thinking, and things like memory and judgment 3 .
Now, you may have felt angry when your computer stops working, or when you have been treated 4 . But Lench says that, when angry, you feel ready to act and focus on a problem. This helps us, because we can think faster and respond more quickly to tasks.
Many people experience anxiety before a big event or decision. It’s also our body’s way of getting ready to face challenges. According to Lench, when we are anxious, we’re quicker to pick out risks (风险). The emotion can increase performance on things like studying for an exam, and it can even make our eyes widen, giving us a better 5 of danger. While boredom (无聊) is a less understood emotion, Lench says it seems to happen when our situation doesn’t cause any other kind of emotion. And she says researchers think boredom may encourage us to make a 6 in our lives, whether big or small.
So, the next time you’re feeling one of these emotions, remember—it could be trying to give you a helping hand!

His children are 12, 10 and 6, and they grow 2 at that age. Three months away, and the kids are already taller and different.

Laughter as medicine? Maybe!
Deep laughter causes our muscles to relax and helps us manage stress. During laughter, our body releases chemicals that are connected with positive events and emotions. This can also 1 anxiety (焦虑) and physical pain. Like yoga, the physical act of laughter involves (涉及) deep breathing. The oxygen flow throughout our body is increased, and when we breathe out, the “old” air in our lungs is released. Mentally, laughter can help us feel more positive about life, ready to face challenges and 2 difficulties more calmly.
Some people think that deep laughter can help with the recovery from serious illness. Norman Cousins, a famous 20th-century writer, certainly believed this. In his late forties, Cousins was diagnosed (被确诊) with a serious illness. He moved with difficulty, he was in constant (不断的) pain and he was told he had a 3 time to live.
However, Cousins thought that if stress or negative (负面的) emotions had caused his illness, then maybe positive emotions could help him get 4 and daily laughter became part of this approach (方法). For months, from his sickbed, Cousins watched funny films that made him laugh out loud. He became 5 that ten minutes of deep ‘belly’ laughter resulted in two hours of painless sleep, so he decided to stop taking powerful painkillers and sleeping pills. Instead, he used laughter and high doses of Vitamin C to help his recovery. 6 , within six months, he was up and within two years he was back at work.
Whatever the case, if laughter helps us to cope with stress and makes us feel positive about life—then let’s keep doing it!

Parents feel that it is difficult to live with teenagers. Then again, teenagers have 1 feelings about their parents saying that it isn’t easy living with them. According to recent research, the most common 2 between parents and teenagers is that regarding untidiness and daily routine tasks. Regular revision turns your short - term memory into long-term memory.
Are you having a hard time improving your English? Then you may try to 5 these three habits. Don’t worry if it takes time. Mastering a second language is a long 6 —it should take time!

The emotion can increase performance on things like studying for an exam, and it can even make our eyes widen, giving us a better 5 of danger. While boredom (无聊) is a less understood emotion, Lench says it seems to happen when our situation doesn’t cause any other kind of emotion.
