A
Do you have memories from when you were a baby? Most of us don’t have them. This is called “infantile amnesia (童年失忆症)”. However, these memories are actually kept in the brain until we become adults, even though we aren’t aware of them.
Professor Cristina Alberini at New York University in the US found that the experiences learned in infancy are kept as hidden memories. It happens in a brain part called the hippocampus (海马体) when an infant’s brain is growing. Changes in brain chemicals help this process. Alberini conducted experiments on rats and found that boosting (促进,推动) certain chemicals later can bring back hidden memories. This shows that early memories aren’t lost but are kept.
In this case, “if the children are learning difficult situations in early childhood, their brains are going to be shaped based on that experience,” Alberini told The Guardian. Her study shows these hidden memories may influence people’s learning abilities throughout their lives and contribute to some mental health illnesses.
Although most of us can’t remember the things that happened to us when we were little, the age at which each person has their first memory can vary significantly.
Different backgrounds may explain the difference. Professor Wang Qi at Cornell University in the US has shown that the earliest memories of Americans date back to around 3.5 years of age, almost six months earlier than in Chinese people.
Wang said that this is because American people are more self-focused. However, in Asia, identity is more about the roles they play in society and relationships with others. So it may take more time for Asian babies to remember many details.
How often parents talk about past experiences with their children can also influence when first memories appear. New Zealand’s Maori people have their first memories as early as at the age of 2.5, The Guardian said.
Professor Elaine Reese from the University of Otago in New Zealand said it’s because the Maori culture values stories and deep conversations about past events. Conversations are key for keeping memories when kids can form mental images of the things that happened to them.
36.What did Professor Cristina Alberini discover about early memories?
A.They are stored and can be awakened. B.They are removed by brain chemicals.
C.They disappear as we grow older. D.They are lost in infancy.
37.According to Alberini, how do early childhood experiences influence people?
A.They have no lasting effect on people.
B.They contribute to the growth of the hippocampus.
C.They shape the brain and could affect mental health.
D.They play a part in developing interests and hobbies.
38.Why do Americans have earlier first memories compared to Chinese people?
A.They have a special brain structure. B.They value relationships more.
C.They are more self-focused. D.They experience less stress.
39.What does the case of Maori people’s first memories at the age of 2.5 show?
A.Telling old stories helps keep memories. B.Maori people have the best memory abilities.
C.Telling stories is a good way to spread culture. D.Maori people experience more events in infancy.
40.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Total forgetting of infant memories. B.Parental influence on early memories.
C.Cultural differences in first memories. D.Hidden yet influential childhood memories.

B
Papa, as a son of a dirt-poor farmer, left school early and went to work in a factory, for education was for the rich then. So, the world became his school. With great interest, he read everything he could lay his hands on, listened to the town elders and learned about the world beyond his tiny hometown. “There’s so much to learn,” he’d say. “Though we’re born stupid, only the stupid remain that way.” He was determined that none of his children would be denied (拒绝) an education.
Thus, Papa insisted that we learn at least one new thing each day. Though, as children, we thought this was crazy, it would never have occurred to us to deny Papa a request. And dinner time seemed perfect for sharing what we had learned. We would talk about the news of the day; no matter how insignificant, it was never taken lightly. Papa would listen carefully and was ready with some comment, always to the point.
Then came the moment — the time to share the day’s new learning.
Papa, at the head of the table, would push back his chair and pour a glass of red wine, ready to listen.
“Felice,” he’d say, “tell me what you learned today.”
“I learned that the population of Nepal is...”
Silence.
Papa was thinking about what was said, as if the salvation (拯救) of the world would depend upon it. “The population of Nepal. Hmm. Well...” he’d say. “Get the map; let’s see where Nepal is.” And the whole family went on a search for Nepal.
This same experience was repeated until each family member had a turn. Dinner ended only after we had a clear understanding of at least half a dozen such facts.
As children, we thought very little about these educational wonders. Our family, however, was growing together, sharing experiences and participating in one another’s education. And by looking at us, listening to us, respecting our input, affirming (肯定) our value, giving us a sense of dignity (尊严), Papa was unquestionably our most influential teacher.
Later during my training as a future teacher, I studied with some of the most famous educators. They were imparting (传授) what Papa had known all along-the value of continual learning. His technique has served me well all my life. Not a single day has been wasted, though I can never tell when knowing the population of Nepal might prove useful.

As is known to everyone, the options we make have an effect on our future. Suppose I am an intelligent student with good marks. But on the other hand, being lazy, I do badly in my examinations. I am refused admission to university and cannot find a good job. The golden future I had imagined will never be. All these are all from a bad choice!
However, your choices affect your future in a way that is a lot more complicated. This is because nearly all the choices you make affect your character. Your character is displayed through your choices, but it is also formed by them. No matter when you make a choice, your character changes or grows, or diminishes depending on whether the decision you made is wise or foolish. Your character is being made by you, bit by bit, choice by choice. And so, you become the sort of person who will make a certain kind of choice in a certain situation.
Some will argue this is not true. After all, the field of human choice is a narrow one. Most of the things that form us in our lives are not subject to choice. We cannot choose when and where to be born, whether our families will be rich or poor, kind or cruel. We cannot even entirely control who we will meet in our lives. With so much that we cannot choose, how can we be said to be responsible for anything?
There is some truth in this. We are thrown into life without any say over the matter, and have little control over most of it. However, we do have some power of choice, and we do control the most important thing of all: how we respond to circumstances. We can choose to keep struggling in hard times, or to give up.
This ability to choose how we behave and respond is a great gift. It is our key to having confidence in the future. It is human nature to fear the future, as the future is unknown. You can’t entirely control what will happen to you tomorrow. But if you have confidence in your character, formed by years of making good choices, then you do know one thing for certain about the future: no matter what happens, you will make a choice that you will be proud of.
At every moment, then, practise forming your character when you make your choices, no matter how small they are. Remember: your choices form your character. And your character determines your future.
46.What example does the author use to illustrate the impact of bad choices on the future?
A.A student who fails to get into university due to laziness despite good academic potential.
B.A person who can’t choose their birthplace and family background.
C.Someone who gives up easily during hard times.
D.An individual who is afraid of the unknown future.
47.What can we infer from the passage?
A.We have no control over any aspect of our lives except making choices.
B.Good character formed by making wise choices gives us confidence in the future.
C.External factors like birthplace and family background have no impact on our life.
D.Small choices in daily life don’t matter in shaping our character.
48.In the author’s opinion, what is the most important thing we can control in life?
A.When and where to be born. B.Whether our families will be rich or poor.
C.How we respond to different circumstances. D.Who we will meet in our lives.
49.According to the passage, why are our choices closely related to our future?
A.Because choices directly decide our social status.
B.Because choices can influence our character which determines our future.
C.Because making choices helps us gain more control over external circumstances.
D.Because every choice we make ensures a successful future.
50.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The ways to make good choices in different situations.
B.The uncontrollable factors existing in our life.
C.The significant relationship between our choices, character and future.
D.The importance of having confidence in the future.
【答案】46.A 47.B 48.C 49.B 50.C
【导语】本文是一篇议论文。主要介绍的是人生选择、性格塑造与未来发展的密切关系,强调通过明智的选择培养优秀品格,以增强对未来的信心。
46.细节理解题。根据第一段“Suppose I am an intelligent student with good marks. But on the other hand, being lazy, I do badly in my examinations. I am refused admission to university and cannot find a good job. The golden future I had imagined will never be. All these are all from a bad choice!(假设我是一个聪明且成绩优异的学生。但另一方面,由于我过于懒惰,我在考试中表现不佳。我被大学拒绝录取,也找不到一份好工作。我所想象的美好未来将永远无法实现。这一切都源于一个错误的选择!)”可知,作者用“一个尽管有良好的学习潜力但因懒惰而未能考上大学的学生”来说明错误选择对未来的不良影响。故选A。
47.推理判断题。根据第二段“However, your choices affect your future in a way that is a lot more complicated. And so, you become the sort of person who will make a certain kind of choice in a certain situation.(然而,你的选择对你的未来所产生的影响要复杂得多。这是因为你所做出的几乎每一个选择都会影响你的性格。你的性格通过你的选择得以展现,同时也由这些选择所塑造。无论何时做出选择,你的性格都会随着选择的变化而改变、成长或者衰退,这取决于你所做出的决定是明智还是愚蠢。你的性格是在你一点一滴的选择中逐渐形成的。因此,你会成为在特定情境下会做出某种特定选择的那种人)”以及倒数第二段“You can’t entirely control what will happen to you tomorrow. But if you have confidence in your character, formed by years of making good choices, then you do know one thing for certain about the future: no matter what happens, you will make a choice that you will be proud of.(你无法完全掌控明天会发生什么。但如果你对自己的性格充满信心,这种自信源自于多年来所做的正确选择,那么你就能够确切地知道关于未来的一件事:无论发生什么,你都会做出一个让自己感到自豪的选择)”可知,通过做出明智选择而形成的良好品质会让我们对未来充满信心。故选B。
48.细节理解题。根据第四段“However, we do have some power of choice, and we do control the most important thing of all: how we respond to circumstances. We can choose to keep struggling in hard times, or to give up.(然而,我们确实拥有一定的选择权,并且我们确实能够掌控最重要的事情:我们如何应对各种情况。我们可以选择在艰难时期继续努力奋斗,也可以选择放弃)”可知,在作者看来,在生活中我们能够掌控的最重要的事情是如何应对不同的情况。故选C。
49.细节理解题。根据最后一段“At every moment, then, practise forming your character when you make your choices, no matter how small they are. Remember: your choices form your character. And your character determines your future.(所以,在每一个时刻,当你做出选择时,都要努力塑造自己的性格,哪怕这些选择看起来微不足道。要记住:你的选择塑造了你的性格。而你的性格决定了你的未来)”可知,我们的选择与我们的未来息息相关是因为选择能够影响我们的性格,而性格决定了我们的未来。故选B。
50.主旨大意题。根据最后一段“At every moment, then, practise forming your character when you make your choices, no matter how small they are. Remember: your choices form your character. And your character determines your future.(所以,在每一个时刻,当你做出选择时,都要努力塑造自己的性格,哪怕这些选择看起来微不足道。要记住:你的选择塑造了你的性格。而你的性格决定了你的未来)”结合文章指出我们所做的选择可能会以一种复杂的方式影响你的未来,因为你的选择和性格相互影响,最终影响未来。论述了性格和选择之间相互影响相互作用的关系。可知,这篇文章的主要观点是我们的选择、性格与未来之间存在着重要的关联。故选C。

January 20, 2025, a Chinese tech company named DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1, which has emerged as a pioneer especially in educational technology. This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4o, but it costs much less to build. It combines advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that rely on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. DeepSeek-R1 improves by itself by using reinforcement (强化) learning to simulate (模拟) human reasoning. This allows it to guide students through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient tutor. For example, when a student struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer; it breaks down the logic, identifies errors, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications extend beyond academics. In language learning, it analyzes students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time response. For teachers, DeepSeek-R1 can provide lesson plans that agree with curriculum standards and even predict students’ learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing” feature creates customized exams that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-reliance on AI might reduce human interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by emphasizing its role as a “supplement (补充), not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated, “Our goal is to free teachers from repetitive tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to bring virtual reality (VR) into its platform, allowing students to explore historical events or scientific concepts in immersive 3D environments. While ethical (道德的) debates about AI in education still exist, one thing is clear: tools like DeepSeek are reshaping how we learn, combining technology with human wisdom.
51.What makes DeepSeek-R1 different from traditional AI models?
A.It uses pre-programmed answers.
B.It focuses on memorization techniques.
C.It creates fixed test patterns for all the students.
D.It employs reinforcement learning for reasoning.
52.What does the underlined word “adaptive” in paragraph 3 most likely mean?
A.fixed B.adjustable C.complex D.outdated
53.What future development does DeepSeek plan to add to its platform?
A.Real-time response to strengthen real-time classroom interaction.
B.Virtual reality (VR) to enable immersive learning experiences.
C.Advanced robotics to assist in repetitive tasks.
D.New technology to secure student data.
54.What’s the author’s attitude towards the use of DeepSeek-R1?
A.doubtful B.critical C.positive D.indifferent
55.What is the main purpose of writing the passage?
A.To advertise DeepSeek products.
B.To criticize the risks of DeepSeek in schools.
C.To discuss the role of DeepSeek in transforming education.
D.To compare different AI models.
【答案】51.D 52.B 53.B 54.C 55.C

第三部分:写作
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题。
I got excited at the news told by the nurse that we could make preparations for taking our new born twins, David and Mark, home with us. However, I had no idea what should I do as a father. “How can I take care of such delicate (脆弱的) creatures at home without your instructions?” I asked. The nurse laughed, “Don’t worry. You will be fine. They know how to tell you their needs.”
It was the beginning of a lifelong journey, David and Mark were just like a lump of clay (一块黏土), which my wife, Karen and I, to some degree, could shape. I wondered how to shape them and make them become great men — not men only with strong build and healthy bodies, but men of character, integrity (正直) and bravery, and with a positive influence.
When our sons were learning to walk, I got a suggestion: Always treat your sons like the adults they are capable of becoming, and make them become men. The advice let Karen and me know what really matters in life and intentionally build values into their life.
But how could we develop their character and build values into their life? Finally Karen and I decided to have meaningful dialogues about some role models while taking a walk with them in the morning. And each night, I read them a bedtime story about positive figures. One night, when I was doing so, I realized just as the story reached the climax (高潮), I saw wonder in their eyes. I realized I often missed those expressions when reading the story. So I ceased reading stories to them. Instead, I started telling them stories I created about a good boy and a bad boy facing a moral dilemma so I could watch their faces. They warmly discussed the right thing to do before I revealed how the characters handled the situation. This full-eye-contact storytelling helped us bond each other. And they gradually became the kind of people that Karen and I wanted them to be.
Now thinking back, I think my greatest achievement in life is that my sons have the values Karen and I hold dear.
56.How did the author feel when being asked to take his babies home?(no more than 5words)
57.What aspect did the author focus on during his sons 'growth?(no more than 5words)
58.What does the underlined word “ceased” in Paragraph 4 mean?(One word)
59.What did the author and Karen do to build values in their sons' life?(no more than 15words)
60.Do you agree with the author's way of raising his kids? Why?(no more than 20 words)
【答案】56.Excited but worried. 57.Character and values. 58.Stopped.
59. They had meaningful dialogues about role models and told moral stories.
60. 60.Yes, because it focuses on character and values, which are essential for life.
【导语】本文为一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者和妻子通过讨论榜样人物和讲述道德故事来培养孩子的价值观,最终将孩子培养成有品格、正直、勇敢且有正能量的人。
56.考查推理判断。根据文章第一段“I got excited at the news told by the nurse that we could make preparations for taking our new born twins, David and Mark, home with us. However, I had no idea what should I do as a father.(听到护士说我可以准备将双胞胎David和Mark带回家时,我非常激动。然而,我却不知道作为父亲应该做什么)”可知,作者得知可以带双胞胎回家时感到兴奋,但也担心自己不知道如何照顾孩子,故答案为Excited but worried.
57.考查细节理解。根据文章第二段“I wondered how to shape them and make them become great men — not men only with strong build and healthy bodies, but men of character, integrity (正直) and bravery, and with a positive influence.(我想知道如何塑造他们,使他们成为伟大的人——不仅是一个健壮、身体健康的人,而且是有品格、正直、勇敢和积极影响的人)”可知,作者希望将儿子培养成有品格、正直、勇敢且有正能量的人,因此在儿子的成长中,作者看重的是品格和价值观,故答案Character and values.
58.考查词义猜测。根据划线词ceased后文的内容“Instead, I started telling them stories I created about a good boy and a bad boy facing a moral dilemma so I could watch their faces.(相反,我开始给他们讲我编的关于一个好孩子和一个坏男孩面临道德困境的故事,这样我就可以观察他们的表情)”可知,划线词ceased后文提到,作者开始给儿子讲自己编的故事,故此处划线词ceased意为“停止”,我“停止”给他们读故事,而是开始给儿子讲自己编的故事,故答案为Stopped.
59.考查推理判断。根据文章第四段“Instead, I started telling them stories I created about a good boy and a bad boy facing a moral dilemma so I could watch their faces. They warmly discussed the right thing to do before I revealed how the characters handled the situation. This full-eye-contact storytelling helped us bond each other. And they gradually became the kind of people that Karen and I wanted them to be.(相反,我开始给他们讲我编的一个关于一个好孩子和一个坏男孩面临道德困境的故事,这样我就可以观察他们的表情。在我透露角色是如何处理这种情况之前,他们热烈地讨论了正确的做法,这种全方位的眼神交流故事帮助我们建立了联系。他们逐渐成为了Karen和我希望他们成为的那种人)”可知,作者和妻子通过讨论榜样人物和讲述道德故事来培养孩子的价值观,因此答案为They had meaningful dialogues about role models and told moral stories.
60.开放性试题。言之有理,注意词数。如根据文章第四段“Instead, I started telling them stories I created about a good boy and a bad boy facing a moral dilemma so I could watch their faces. They warmly discussed the right thing to do before I revealed how the characters handled the situation. This full-eye-contact storytelling helped us bond each other. And they gradually became the kind of people that Karen and I wanted them to be.(相反,我开始给他们讲我编的一个关于一个好孩子和一个坏男孩面临道德困境的故事,这样我就可以观察他们的表情。在我透露角色是如何处理这种情况之前,他们热烈地讨论了正确的做法,这种全方位的眼神交流故事帮助我们建立了联系。他们逐渐成为了Karen和我希望他们成为的那种人)”可知,作者和妻子通过讨论榜样人物和讲述道德故事来培养孩子的价值观,我同意作者培养孩子的做法,因为他重点培养孩子品格和价值观,这在生活中是很重要的。故答案为Yes, because it focuses on character and values, which are essential for life.

(3) 你的建议和措施。
参考词汇:短视频short video
Dear Jack,
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yours,
Li Jin
【答案】
Dear Jack,
I understand how easy it is to get caught up in short videos because they’re designed to be engaging. But I’m concerned about how much time they’re taking from your studies and real-life interactions.
Spending too much time on these videos can harm your focus, sleep, and even your mood. Studies show that constant scrolling reduces attention spans and leaves less energy for important tasks.
To help manage this, I suggest starting with setting daily time limits. When you feel the urge to scroll, try redirecting that energy into reading a book or going for a short walk. Perhaps we could meet up for regular study sessions or join a sports club together.
Remember I’m here to support you.
Yours,
Li Jin
【导语】本篇书面表达属于应用文。题目要求学生以李津的身份,给沉迷于短视频的朋友Jack回一封电子邮件,应首先对他的处境表示理解和关心,再指出沉迷短视频的影响,最后给出个人建议和解决措施。

A
Do you have memories from when you were a baby?

A.fixed B.adjustable
C.complex D.outdated
53.What future development does DeepSeek plan to add to its platform?
A.Real-time response to strengthen real-time classroom interaction.
B.Virtual reality (VR) to enable immersive learning experiences.
C.Advanced robotics to assist in repetitive tasks.
D.New technology to secure student data.
54.What’s the author’s attitude towards the use of DeepSeek-R1?
A.doubtful B.critical
C.positive D.indifferent
55.What is the main purpose of writing the passage?
A.To advertise DeepSeek products.
B.To criticize the risks of DeepSeek in schools.
C.To discuss the role of DeepSeek in transforming education.
D.To compare different AI models.

Dear Jack,
I understand how easy it is to get caught up in short videos because they’re designed to be engaging.
Yours,
Li Jin

A
Do you have memories from when you were a baby?

C
