It is reported that over one hundred million students in our country are shortsighted. Facing the serious problem, the famous website Net Ease have carried out a survey to the students’ eyesight recently, which display s the percentage of shortsighted students is rising all the way from primary school to university.
The pupils’ eyesight must be taken much care of from the beginning of the primary school, because more than 40 percent of pupils are suffering from the shortsightedness. Parents must control the time of continuously studying and let their children's eyes relax periodically. Besides, some bad habits of reading or writing should be corrected right now, for example, putting books too close to their eyes.

“You don’ t sound too excited about it.”“Well, I don't really get it. I mean,I appreciate his gesture and excitement, but it's just a car thing,” I responded. “Well, were you hoping for flowers? Or a necklace?”“No, you know I am not into all that.”“He is excited because this is his way of taking care of you,” said my mother. “This is a gift to give him a little peace of mind in making sure you are safe when he can't be with you.”
My mom surprised me with her wisdom. “You know, I never looked at it like that. Thanks, Mom. I will call back in little bit. Love you!”“You are welcome. Love you, too!” My mom's words sank in as I hung up the phone and went to join my dad. He started showing me how to use the battery pack and all I could do was smile and gaze at him. When the demonstration was over, I gave him the biggest hug. “I love you, Dad. Thank you so much. This is the best gift ever!”

Here are answers to some common questions about attending an event or visiting the Sydney Opera House:
What time do I need to arrive before the event?
If you are collecting your tickets from the Box Office, we recommend doing this at least 30minutes before the event starts. If you have already received your tickets, aim to arrive at least 15minutes before the event. This should allow enough time for visual inspections (安检) and/ or cloaking of bags and personal belongings by the security staff before entering the venue and finding your seats.
We recommend leaving all large bags at home, any bags larger than an A4 piece of paper is required to be checked into the Cloak Room.
If you are late, we will seat you as soon as possible, but please be aware that some events have lock out periods. In these cases, latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break in the performance. On occasions this may not be until the interval, or at all where there is no interval.
What are the transport options to the Opera House?
You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a 6 min walk to the Opera House. If you' re getting dropped off in a car, head to the roundabout(环岛) at the bottom Macquarie Street where staff will direct you to a safe place to pull over(停车) . Driving?Park in Wilson's Car Park, you' re just minutes to your seat.
What can I bring with me?
All ticket holders must present their bags and personal belongings for visual inspection or x-ray screening by the security staff before entering the venue. Valid photo ID must be presented to purchase a drink from the theater bar.
Larger items—— including handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks, umbrellas, suitcases and prams(婴儿车)—— are not permitted inside the venues and must be cloaked.
What should I wear?
So long as you' re wearing shoes and a shirt, whatever you like. We' re pretty informal here at the Opera House. There's no real dress code for this event, you' ll fit right in wearing smart casual. But, if you'd like to frock up, go for it! It's a special occasion, dressing up makes everything 100% more enjoyable. You' ll be on your feet for a guided tour, there are over 300stairs, so flat comfortable shoes are recommended.
21. If your friend gives you a lift to the opera house, .
A. the car should not be parked in Wilson's Car Park
B. you'd better get off at the Circular Quay
C. it's safe for your friend to stop his car at the roundabout

My altitude sickness (高原反应) mysteriously disappeared when I arrived in the city of Nyingchi, Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region, after a six-hour road journey from Lhasa, the region's capital.
Compared with most areas in Tibet, Nyingchi is at a lower altitude, has higher humidity (湿度) and a milder climate, which is believed to be an ideal first stop to explore Tibet——“the roof of the world”, with an average altitude of more than 4,000 meters, where oxygen content is only 60% of that in the plains.
The average altitude of Nyingchi is about 3,000 meters.
The Nyangchu River and the Yarlung Zangbo River run through the city, giving it a moist weather and fatty fish.
Data from the local government shows the forest coverage is over 53.6%, forming a lush and green landscape that is both good for the eyes and the lungs.
I was heading for the Nyingchi Peach Flower Tourism and Culture Festival, an annual event held from late March to April, a good time to visit the“pink ocean” in the deep mountains.
The ride along the National Highway 318 was amazing.
The highway, which connects Shigatse in Tibet with Shanghai on the east coast, is described as one of the most beautiful and dangerous ones in the world.
On the way, I experienced the baking sun, rain and snow on the same day while riding in the wilderness. But what attracted me the most were the peach flower trees swirling in the breeze all over the mountains and plains, which turned the fields into a fairyland.
The trees, budding or in full blossom, were much taller and stronger than those planted in gardens or parks, showcasing the beauty of the wild, besides its confidence and vitality.
24. Where is the city of Nyingehi located?
A. About six-hour flight from Lhasa. B. In the National Highway 318.
C. In the Southwest of Tibet. D. At a lower altitude of about 3,000 meters.
25. Why Nyingchi is believed to be an ideal first stop to explore Tibet?
A. Because compared with most areas in Tibet, it is at a lower altitude, has higher humidity and a milder climate.
B. Because it has the most beautiful landscape with over 53.6% of the forest coverage.
C. Because the Nyangchu River and the Yarlung Zangbo River run through the city.
D. Because it is very famous for its Peach Flower Tourism and Culture Festival.
26. The oxygen content of most areas in Tibet is only of that in the plains.
A.53.6% B.60% C. 50% D.63%
27. What do we know about National Highway 318?
A. You could possibly experience the baking sun, rain and snow on the same day while riding along it.
B. It is the highway connecting Nyingchi in Tibet with Shanghai.
C. It is 2,000 kilometers long.
D. It is the high way with the highest altitude in the world.

In February 2018, train passengers travelling between Almere and Amsterdam were horrified to see thousands of dead animals, lying scattered (散落) across the Oostvaardersplassen. The reserve, once celebrated as a pioneering rewilding project for the principle of no human intervention, immediately set off a heated debate:Was it animal cruelty or just nature taking its course?
The project originated in 1968 after a Dutch inland sea was drained (抽干) to build two new cities Lelystad and Almere. Its wetland area, once a paradise (天堂) for marsh birds, soon became a fertile breeding ground for different birds. Inspired by Dutch biologist Frans Vera, it was designated as a nature
reserve in 1983, where wildlife thrived without human involvement. Vera’s approach worked: The grazer (食草动
物) and bird populations boomed quickly. However, a crisis was on the horizon.
The reserve, fenced within an area of 30 square miles, was isolated from wildlife corridors and surrounding landscapes, blocking the animals from accessing external shelter and food sources. With no predators controlling the grazer population, their numbers grew unchecked, consuming almost all the vegetation and leaving nothing but the bare land. Food shortage worsened in winter, leading to the extinction of 22 bird species. When the park managers attempted to shoot the outnumbered grazers like wild horses to balance the ecosystem, they faced strong objection from the public, considering it as cold and immoral. The wildlife in the reserve thus fell victim to severe undernutrition in the hard winter.
The ecological disaster sparked widespread debates about the nature restoration movement sweeping across the world in recent decades, promoting a shift in the reserve management. People now actively intervene;planting trees, feeding the animals if needed, introducing predators like wolves and capping the grazers to keep their numbers in check.
While some still advocate non-intervention, the controversy has evolved into a broader reflection on whether to prioritize raw natural processes or to balance ecological health with ethical and social expectations. Anyway, more people now think about nature as a dynamic system rather than as a stable landscape — a lasting legacy of the ecological trial.
28. Why was the drained wetland turned into a nature reserve in 1983?
A. Two new cities needed green protection.
B. The wetland became an ideal habitat for wildlife.
C. Grazers and birds coexisted with local residents.
D. The government wanted to stop urban expansion.
29. Which is a major cause of the 2018 ecological crisis in the Oostvaardersplassen?
A. The fencing-off of the reserve. B. The outnumbered predators.
C. Unnecessary human intervention. D. Social acceptance of killing animals.
30. What does the underlined word “capping” mean in paragraph 4?
A. Putting a cover over. B. Casting shadow on.
C. Relocating to a new place. D. Setting an upper limit on.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Paradise Rewilded, Then Winter-Reversed B. Reserve Unfenced: No-Intervention Collapse
C. Dutch Drained Sea, Grazer & Bird Graveyard Made D. Ethics vs. Wilderness: Oostvaardersplassen on Trial
D
As humanity has got richer, animals ’ roles have changed. People need their services less than before. Fewer wolves and thieves meant less demand for dogs for protection; the internal combustion engine ( 内燃机) made horses unneeded; modern sanitation ( 卫 生 设 备 ) kept rats in check and made cats less useful. No longer necessities, domestic animals became luxuries. Pet keeping seems to kick in when household incomes rise above roughly $5,000. It is booming.
The trend is not a new one. Archaeologists (考古学家) have found 10,000-year-old graves in which dogs and people are buried together. Some cultures — such as in Scandinavia, where dogs have long been both working dogs and companions have kept pets for thousands of years. But these days the pet-keeping urge has spread even to parts of the world which have no tradition of sinking into a comfortable chair with a furry creature.
The pet business is growing even faster than pet numbers, because people are spending more and more money on them. No longer are they food-waste-recyclers, fed with the remains that fall from their masters ’ tables. Pet-food shelves are full of delicacies crafted to satisfy a range of appetites, including ice cream for dogs and foods for pets that are old, diabetic or suffer from sensitive digestion; a number of internet services offer food, tailored to the pet’s individual tastes.
In the business this is called “pet humanisation”— the tendency of pet owners to treat their pets as part of the family. This is evident in the names given to dogs, which have evolved from Fido, Rex and Spot to in America Bella, Lucy and Max. It is evident in the growing market for pet clothing, pet grooming and pet hotels.
People still assume that pets must be working for humanity in some way, perhaps making people healthier or less anxious. But the evidence for that is weak. Rather, new research suggests that dogs have evolved those irresistible “puppy-dog eyes” precisely to affect human emotions. It has worked. The species that once enslaved others now works very hard to pay for the care of its pets. Sentimental (多愁善感的) Americans often refer to themselves not as cat-owners but as the cat’s “mommy” or “daddy” . South Koreans go one further, describing themselves as cat “butlers” . Watch an unlucky dog-walker trailing “his” hound (猎犬), plastic bag in hand to pick up its mess, and you have to wonder: who’s in charge now?
32. Which of the following trends is NOT TRUE according to the passage?
A. People’s needs for animal services are decreasing.
B. Pets are increasingly making their owners less anxious.
C. Both the pet number and the pet business are growing.
D. Pet foods are more various and customized than before.
33. Which of the following is referred to as evidence of “pet humanization”?
A. Pets’ inbuilt ability to affect emotions of their owners.
B. The names given to pets in American families nowadays.
C. Human beings ’ ever rising urge for pet-keeping.
D. Pets ’ roles as both working staff and companions.
34. Which of the following statements is the author most likely to agree with?
A. Pets should be treated as equals of their human masters.
B. Human beings are getting much benefit from their pets.
C. Some pet owners spend too much money on their pets.
D. Pet-keeping is still restricted within certain parts of the world
35. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?
A. The Changing Roles ofAnimals
B. The Urge for Pet-keeping
C. Love Me, Love My Dog
D. Who Owns Whom

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I sat down at one of the breakroom tables to eat my lunch and made my usual call to my father. “Hi, beautiful!” He answered the phone as he always did-with a compliment.
“Hi, Dad! How is your day going?” I inquired.
“Just another day at the shop. Brake job and oil change now. How about you?”
“Same, just another day,” I replied.
“Oh, I got you a present from work today!” he exclaimed, with great enthusiasm in his voice. “I just know you will love it.”
“Love you, too, Dad. Excited to see my gift soon!” I exclaimed before we hung up.
When I got home, my dad was as giddy(激动不已的) as could be about the gift he had gotten me from work. I was excited yet curious at the same time; after all, my dad was a mechanic. What kind of gift would he have gotten for me from one of his tool vendors?
He had me cover my eyes, and when I opened them, he handed me a black, square bag. I unzipped it and did not understand what was inside.“Uh, what is it?”“It's a jumper box!” he exclaimed. “You charge it, and then you can keep it in your car. If your battery ever dies, you don't need jumper cables and another car to start yours. This will jump your battery for you, all by itself!” He was toggling and maneuvering the device around, explaining to me how it worked, just like a child showing me a new toy at Christmas.“It’ s already all charged up. I charged it at work today. Come outside, and I will show you how it works!” Just then, my telephone rang. “I’ ll be right out, Dad!” I ran away to answer the phone. It was my mother.
“Hi, Mom. How are you?” I answered. I told her that I would call her back because I needed to learn about my gift. “A gift? How sweet. What did your dad get for you?”“It’ s a jumper box that will start my car battery if it ever dies without needing jumper cables and another car,” I explained.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右: 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
“You don't sound too excited about it.”
My mom surprised me with her wisdom.
