根据第三段“Whether you’re fascinated by cutting-edge technology, curious about the mysteries of space, or passionate about protecting our planet, there’s something for everyone. With installations (设备) fromKing’s College London’s “Hospital of the Future”, visitors can create 3-D printed implants (植入物) and even enter a virtual reality heart.(无论您对前沿科技充满好奇,对宇宙的奥秘充满探索欲,还是热衷于保护我们的地球,这里都有适合您的内容。 根据最后一段中“Don’t worry about missing anything: all talks are recorded and available to watch, or rewatch for 12 months whenever needed after the event.(不用担心错过任何内容:所有演讲都会进行录制,并在活动结束后随时可供观看,或可在活动结束后的 12 个月内随时观看或重看)”可知,在线票包含所有讲座直播,且讲座录像可在活动后12个月(一整年)随时按需观看回放,故选A。 B About 600 miles off Ecuador’ s coast, the biologist Dee Boersma and her team sailed in a boat aroundBartolomé Island. They were searching for a special black-and-white seabird — the Galápagos penguin. These penguins, standing only about 45 cm tall, are among the rarest and the smallest penguins in the world. But most notably, they are the only penguin species at the equator, existing on these volcanic islands in the hot sun. Suddenly, Boersma spotted five penguins near a cave, then two more. As the boat neared the shore, a team member jumped out and climbed the sharp, slippery rocks with ease. Within minutes, he returned, carefully holding a penguin. He passed it to Boersma, who measured its mouth, feet, and wingspan (翼展) with tools. “We’ re measuring him for a suit,” she joked. These were the first steps in the process of recording information that allows researchers to track whether the species in this area is in a good condition. Next, Boersma tied a red string around the penguin’s chest and weighed it. After freeing the penguin, Boersma gently held its head to avoid being bitten. The penguin looked at the water, then dove into the Pacific, and swam alongside sea turtles (龟). “Touching such a bird is amazing,” Boersma said as it disappeared. This experience is becoming rare for scientists. Today Galápagos penguins join the more than half of all penguin species that are classified as endangered, impacted by such threats as warming temperatures, overfishing, habitat destruction, and pollution. Boersma considers these birds to be “marine guardians”, describing how one species’ rapid decline signals a significant natural or human-made change happening within its environment. Boersma thinks the species has the capacity to hang on, in part because researchers continue to gain a better understanding of how these creatures draw on centuries of adaptations. “Fifty-four years ago, when Istarted this, I thought Galápagos penguins would be gone by now,” she said. “But they’ re still here. Still, conservation and attention are the most significant.” 4. What makes Galápagos penguins unique? A. They come in various colors. B. They live in the tropical climate. C. They' re the smallest seabird. D. They’re the rarest bird in Ecuador. 5. Why did Boersma measure the penguin? A. To monitor its health. B. To design it a special suit. C. To understand its behavior. D. To record its growth process. 6. Why are Galápagos penguins considered “marine guardians”? A. They help maintain the ecological balance. B. They survive threats from humans and nature. C. Their relationship with other creatures is good. D. Their population reflects environmental conditions. 7. What is Boersma’s attitude toward the future of Galápagos penguins? A. Deeply concerned. B. Cautiously optimistic. C. Slightly hopeless. D. Unreservedly confident. B 5. A 6. D 7. 根据第一段“But most notably, they are the only penguin species at the equator, existing on these volcanic islands in the hot sun. (但最值得注意的是,它们是唯一生活在赤道上的企鹅物种,存在于这些火山岛上,沐浴在烈日下)”可知,加拉帕戈斯企鹅的独特之处在于它们生活在热带气候中。故选B项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“These were the first steps in the process of recording information that allows researchers to track whether the species in this area is in a good condition. (这些是记录信息过程中的第一步,研究人员可以借此追踪该地区的物种是否处于健康状态)”可知,Boersma测量企鹅是为了监测它的健康状况。故选A项。 根据第四段“Boersma considers these birds to be‘marine guardians’, describing how one species' rapid decline signals a significant natural or human-made change happening within its environment. (Boersma认为这些鸟类是‘海洋守护者’,因为一个物种的快速减少标志着其生存环境正在发生重大的自然或人为变化)”可知,加拉帕戈斯企鹅被视为“海洋守护者”是因为它们的种群数量能反映环境状况。故选D项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段 “‘Fifty-four years ago, when I started this, I thought Galápagos penguins would be gone by now,’ she said. ‘But they’re still here. Still, conservation and attention are the most significant.’(她说:“五十四年前,当我开始这项研究时,我以为加拉帕戈斯企鹅现在已经灭绝了。但它们还在这里。不过,保护和关注仍然是最重要的。”)”可知,Dee Boersma对加拉帕戈斯企鹅的未来持谨慎乐观的态度。故选B项。 C Stanford University will offer social prescribing (处方) grounded in the arts to students through Vaden Health Services. This expansion of mental health services is being championed by Deborah Cullinan, vice president for the arts, and administrated by Art Pharmacy, a health care services business. Through this collaboration, Stanford is the first major university to launch a social prescription program available to students. “Social prescribing is a practice through which health care providers prescribe social care as supplements to traditional medical care,” said Cullinan. “The prescriptions could be participatory experiences, such as taking a poetry workshop or dropping into the Roble Arts Gym to paint. The prescriptions could also be receptive experiences, such as seeing an exhibition at an arts center, attending a concert, or watching a dance performance.” In the current student mental health crisis throughout the US, Art Pharmacy is proud to bring the social prescribing movement to Stanford’s student population. Engagement with the arts can have positive impacts on individual mental health. Creative engagement is actually an indispensable part of our life and human nature, just as breathing and walking and speaking, and as such, it fulfils a valuable function in health. The program aims to improve health outcomes for participating students through Art Pharmacy’s tech-enabled, human-powered social prescribing solution. Vaden’s well-being coaches will refer students to ArtPharmacy care navigators (导航员). Then students will be contacted and complete a short intake form that will help the care navigators understand each student’s wellness goals and art interests. Based on this information, they will pair students with monthly artistic and cultural experiences on campus, referred to as “doses (剂量)”. “We are excited to begin this initiative at Stanford,” said Lucy Bailey, head of research at Art Pharmacy. “And we can’t wait to see the knock-on effect that it will have on the lives of so many of these students.” 8. What does Cullinan stress about the prescriptions in paragraph 2? A. The effects. B. The status. C. The background. D. The forms. 9. What does the underlined word“ indispensable” mean in paragraph 3? A. Optional. B. Innovative. C. Essential. D. Independent. 10. What do care navigators do? A. Match students with art events. B. Organize art workshops on campus. C. Design intake forms for students. D. Refer students to well-being coaches. 11. What is a suitable title for the text? A. Mental Health: Campus Crisis B. New Art Education Reforms in Stanford C. Art Experts: Health Navigators D. Arts-based Prescriptions for Student Wellness 【答案】8. D 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第二段Cullinan的话“The prescriptions could be participatory experiences, such as taking a poetry workshop or dropping into the Roble Arts Gym to paint. The prescriptions could also be receptive experiences, such as seeing an exhibition at an arts center, attending a concert, or watching a dance performance.(这些处方可以是参与式体验,比如参加诗歌创作坊、去罗布勒艺术健身房画画;也可以是接受式体验,比如参观艺术中心展览、听音乐会或观看舞蹈表演)”可知,Cullinan强调了处方的形式,包括参与性体验和接受性体验。 根据第三段“Engagement with the arts can have positive impacts on individual mental health. Creative engagement is actually an indispensable part of our life and human nature, just as breathing and walking and speaking, and as such, it fulfils a valuable function in health.(参与艺术活动对个人心理健康有积极影响。创造性参与其实是我们生活和人性中indispensable的一部分,就像呼吸、行走和说话一样,因此它在健康方面发挥着重要作用)”可知,这里将创造性参与比作呼吸、行走和说话,说明它是生活中必不可少的部分,推断出“indispensable”的意思是“必要的”,与essential意思相近。故选C。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Then students will be contacted and complete a short intake form that will help the care navigators understand each student’s wellness goals and art interests. Based on this information, they will pair students with monthly artistic and cultural experiences on campus, referred to as “doses (剂量)”.(随后工作人员会联系学生,填写一份简短的信息登记表,帮助健康导航员了解每位学生的健康目标和艺术兴趣。根据这些信息,他们会为学生匹配每月的校园艺术文化体验,这些体验被称为“剂量”)”可知,护理导航员会根据学生的健康目标和艺术兴趣,将学生与校园内的每月艺术和文化体验相匹配。故选A。 D。 D Why move to a city? And why leave? Urban centers today see this for many reasons — the economy, crowds, lifestyle considerations, air quality, and some odd diseases perhaps. The earliest cities worldwide were born of country folk. Farmers were reliant on land-extensive economies, which encouraged them to live and spread out across the landscape in small settlements, to minimize the travel time and costs between their residences and farm plots. Then as now, though, city living was more expensive in all the ways: greater chance of crowd diseases, more competition for resources, and rising levels of systemic inequality. And astonishingly, farmers still chose to bear these costs. What happened? That question has been the source of a long-standing debate, according to Douglas Kennett, who has conducted extensive research into urbanization in Classic Maya cities. “We determined that the rise and expansion of Classic Maya cities resulted from the interaction of climate downturns, intergroup conflict, and the presence of strong economies of scale realized through capital investments in agricultural systems,” Kennett says. Using that same framework, Kennett and other researchers also determined that deurbanization set in “when the benefits of urban living no longer outweighed the costs, as environments were degraded (恶化) in cities and better climate improved the livability of rural areas where people would have more freedom and autonomy”. Indeed, the team’s initial interest was centered on the role of climate change in the decline of Classic Maya cities. “We also capitalized on major developments in computational modeling,” Kennett says. “The biggest surprise for me was that the abandonment of cities occurred under improving climatic conditions. We have long thought that the decline of Classic Maya cities partially resulted from an extended period of drought. It turns out to be a much more complicated and interesting story.” All told, the new work offers critical insights for understanding and managing contemporary and future urban evolution by establishing timeless, universal principles about how populations concentrate and spread out. 12. Why did early farmers live in small settlements? A. To escape from disasters and diseases. B. To enjoy a comfortable urban lifestyle. C. To boost the development of economies. D. To manage agricultural work efficiently. 13. What puzzle is presented about early city life in paragraph 3? A. Farmers were forced to move into cities. B. Cities failed to offer proper accommodations. C. Farmers willingly faced urban challenges. D. Rural life was more expensive than urban life. 14. What caused the decline of Classic Maya cities according to Kennett? A. The long period of water shortage. B. The increased appeal of rural life. C. The limitation to residents’ freedom. D. The collapse of agricultural systems. 15. What is the significance of the new research? A. It clarifies Classic Maya cities’ history. B. It proves climate’s role in urban decline. C. It offers general rules for urban evolution. D. It develops a computational modeling way. D 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段中“Farmers were reliant on land-extensive economies, which encouraged them to live and spread out across the landscape in small settlements, to minimize the travel time and costs between their residences and farm plots.(农民依赖的是大规模的土地经济模式,这种模式促使他们分散居住在广阔地域内的小型定居点,以减少居住地与农田之间的往返时间和成本)”可知,早期农民住在小型定居点是为了缩短住所与农田之间的出行时间、降低成本,本质是为了更高效地打理农活,故选D。 根据第三段中“Then as now, though, city living was more expensive in all the ways: greater chance of crowd diseases, more competition for resources, and rising levels of systemic inequality. And astonishingly, farmers still chose to bear these costs. What happened?(尽管如今的情况依旧如此,但城市生活在各个方面都更加昂贵:更容易传播群体性疾病、对资源的竞争更激烈、社会不平等程度也在不断上升。而令人惊讶的是,农民仍然选择承受这些代价。发生了什么?)”可知,城市生活成本更高、更容易爆发传染病、资源竞争更激烈、不平等问题更严重,但农民依然主动选择承担这些成本进入城市,故选C。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“Using that same framework, Kennett and other researchers also determined that deurbanization set in “when the benefits of urban living no longer outweighed the costs, as environments were degraded (恶化) in cities and better climate improved the livability of rural areas where people would have more freedom and autonomy”.(基于同样的理论框架,Kennett和其他研究人员还确定,当“城市生活的益处不再超过其成本,因为城市环境恶化,而更好的气候改善了农村地区的宜居性(使人们能拥有更多的自由和自主权)”时,城市化进程就会逆转)”可知,玛雅城市衰落的原因是城市环境恶化,同时气候改善提升了农村的宜居性,农村能给人们更多自由自主权,也就是农村吸引力上升了。 根据最后一段“All told, the new work offers critical insights for understanding and managing contemporary and future urban evolution by establishing timeless, universal principles about how populations concentrate and spread out.(总的来说,这项新研究通过确立关于人口如何聚集和分散的永恒、普遍原则,为理解并管理当代及未来的城市发展提供了关键性的见解)”可知,这项新研究建立了关于人口聚集与分散的永恒普遍原则,为理解和处理当代、未来的城市发展提供了关键思路,对应C选项“为城市演化提供了通用规律”,故选C。 After nearly 50 years working in neuropsychology (神经心理学) and education, I’ve come to one clear conclusion: the way we educate children no longer matches the world they’re growing up in. Our current model is a holdover from the Industrial Age. It was built to serve a society that no longer exists. ____16____ Classrooms run on lectures, memorization, and testing, while the real world demands flexibility, problem-solving, and creativity. It’s been my experience that this outdated “outside-in” approach — where information is poured into students and success is measured by test scores — doesn’t prepare children for the real world. ____17____ That’s why we must turn education inside out. Inside-out education isn’t about getting rid of all content. It’s about prioritizing how students think, learn, and grow over what they can memorize. It shifts the focus from teaching content to teaching the learner. ____18____ It includes skills like attention control, planning, working memory, and self-regulation. But most schools don’t teach these skills and assume students already have them. Inside-out education does. It also emphasizes resilience (复原力) — the ability to adapt, recover, and keep going after setbacks. I’ve seen time and time again how resilience turns challenges into growth. However, students only develop it when it’s safe to fail and try again. ____19____ When we turn the classroom inside out, we redefine the teacher’s job. Teachers stop being the only source of knowledge. ____20____ Their goal is not to push information but to awaken curiosity, ask better questions, and build relationships. It’s been my experience that students grow when they feel connected to their teachers and that connection fuels motivation. A. Yet today that system still dominates. B. Therefore, we must overturn the system. C. They become guides and learning coaches. D. Inside-out classrooms create that condition. E. But essential life skills are ignored in school. F. We’re training kids to be good at school, not at life. G. Much of my work focuses on the brain’s management system. A 17. F 18. G 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 上文“After nearly 50 years working in neuropsychology (神经心理学) and education, I’ve come to one clear conclusion: the way we educate children no longer matches the world they’re growing up in. Our current model is a holdover from the Industrial Age. It was built to serve a society that no longer exists.(在神经心理学和教育领域工作了近50年后,我得出了一个明确的结论:我们教育孩子的方式不再与他们成长的世界相匹配。 故选A。 【17题详解】 上文“It’s been my experience that this outdated “outside-in” approach — where information is poured into students and success is measured by test scores — doesn’t prepare children for the real world.(根据我的经验,这种过时的“由外而内”的方法——将信息灌输给学生,并以考试成绩来衡量成功——并不能让孩子为现实世界做好准备)”说明当前的教育方法并不能让孩子为现实世界做好准备,空处承接上文,进一步说明这种教育方法的弊端,F选项“我们是在训练孩子在学校表现出色,而不是在生活中表现出色”符合语境,与上文相呼应,指出当前教育方法的局限性。故选F。 【18题详解】 下文“It includes skills like attention control, planning, working memory, and self-regulation. But most schools don’t teach these skills and assume students already have them. 【20题详解】 上文“When we turn the classroom inside out, we redefine the teacher’s job. Teachers stop being the only source of knowledge.(当我们把课堂内外颠倒时,我们重新定义了教师的工作。教师不再是唯一的知识来源)”说明教师的角色发生了变化,空处承接上文,说明教师新的角色,C选项“他们成为指导者和学习教练”符合语境,进一步说明教师的新角色,与上文逻辑一致。故选C。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15 小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 One day, hundreds of people were stuck in traffic on the highway in below-freezing temperatures due to a snowstorm. At present, this lifestyle is being accepted in my family. My father used to drive his car to and from work, but things were different in the last spring Festival, during which he had enough time to experience the low-carbon lifestyle. We visited our relatives and friends by bicycle during the festival, which is good to our health and for the environment. Besides, I remember to turn off the light when I leave my room. I often use things that can be recycled. For example, I use both sides of the paper. I think it’s our duty to live a low-carbon life. In Mexico, I was a cheerful girl who loved making people laugh with my jokes and inventing fun games to play with my friends. However, when I arrived in America, I found it hard to fit in, and I became quieter. We lived in a small house with a modest yard where we grew vegetables-my responsibility. While I took pride in watching them grow, there were times when I dreamed of having a beautiful garden like my schoolmate Luella’s, with its delicate tulips (郁金香). Although Luella lived in the same neighborhood as me, we barely knew each other. It was after a tornado that Luella and I finally became close friends. The tornado struck on a Sunday afternoon. The gentle breeze transformed into a strong wind, and thick gray clouds filled the sky. Gradually, the tornado took shape, starting as a thin rope and growing into a large black funnel (漏斗). My entire family gathered in the bathroom, seeking shelter from the storm. Terrified, I sat close to my mom, knees in my chest. After the storm had passed, our worries and fears were replaced by relief that we were unharmed and that our house had remained undamaged. As I stepped outside, I witnessed the extent of the damage the tornado had caused to our neighborhood. Across the street, a tall tree had fallen, crushing Luella’s garden in front of her yellow house. We hurried over to check on it. Fortunately, her family seemed to be away at the time, and no one was injured. However, her once-beautiful garden was in ruins, with the fallen tree destroying the tulips and debris (碎片) spread everywhere. I could only imagine how heartbroken they must feel seeing this. Then my mom’s usual words rang in my ear, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” and my family started to think about how we could help. Just at that moment, Luella’s family returned in their car. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Even after the debris was cleared, I could still sense Luella’s sorrow for her lost garden. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Just at that moment, Luella’ family returned in their car. Empathy surged within me as I saw their shock and disbelief. Approaching Luella, I tightly held her hands and said, “I’m so sorry for your loss, but thankfully you’re all right.” She weakly nodded, still puzzled by the shocking scene. My family volunteered to help clean up the mess, cutting down the branches and removing the fallen trees. To lift Luella’s spirits and give her comfort, I tried my best to cheer her up while tidying the garden with her, during which my own joyful personality seemed to revive a bit. Even after the debris was cleared, I could still sense Luella’ sorrow for her lost garden. My heart went out to her, knowing how much she had cherished those tulips that she had devoted so much energy to. Determined to restore the beauty of the garden, I suggested we rebuild the garden, which Luella delightedly agreed. Carefully planted and watered, the new tulip seedlings once again filled the garden, which symbolized the beginning of our friendship, as well as the turning that I finally got embraced by this new environment. My mom was right: it’s more blessed to give than to receive because when you give, you may receive something unexpected in return. 词汇激活 行为类: ① 走近:approach/get close to ② 清理:clean up/clear away ③ 种植:plant/sow ④建议:suggest/recommend 情绪类 ① 震惊:shock/astonishment ② 高兴的:delighted/joyful 【点睛】【高分句型 1】Empathy surged within me as I saw their shock and disbelief.(运用了 as 引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型 2】To lift Luella’s spirits and give her comfort, I tried my best to cheer her up while tidying the garden with her, during which my own joyful personality seemed to revive a bit.(运用了动词不定式作目的状语,while 引导的时间状语从句以及 “介词 + 关系代词 which” 引导的非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 英语试题 本试卷满分150 分,考试时间120 分钟。 1. A To monitor its health. C Stanford University will offer social prescribing (处方) grounded in the arts to students through Vaden Health Services. The program aims to improve health outcomes for participating students through Art Pharmacy’s tech-enabled human-powered social prescribing solution. New Art Education Reforms in Stanford C Art Experts: Health Navigators D. Arts-based Prescriptions for Student Wellness D Why move to a city? 12. One day, hundreds of people were stuck in traffic on the highway in below-freezing temperatures due to a snowstorm. Mulching practices help the soil keep damp during periods of intense sunshine, keep nutrients in the soil to guarantee necessities for crops, ____40____ save money that would otherwise be used to hire casual laborers. Thiety Namuganza, a community-based facilitator, says the skill she gained through the workshops ____41____ (enable) her to support coffee, cocoa and banana farmers across several districts in recent years. The initiative was launched after studies revealed widespread soil degradation in many parts of Uganda ____42____ (cease) poor farming practices such as open tilling (耕作). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
