I’m very glad to be invited to join “Teenager Says”. With the rapid development of science and technology Artificial Intelligence becomes more and more popular and the invention of ChatGPT and DeepSeek has made AI a hot topic in our daily life.
I think AI’s rapid development is a remarkable progress. It not only brings convenience but also drives innovation across various fields. For example, AI can help doctors analyze medical images more accurately, saving time and improving diagnosis efficiency. In education, it provides personalized learning plans for students, making learning more effective.
When it comes to English learning, AI has been a great helper. I often use AI-powered apps to practice pronunciation. The apps can identify my mistakes and offer real-time corrections. Besides, AI tutors on ChatGPT help me with writing by providing grammar suggestions and expanding vocabulary. They even simulate conversations to improve my speaking skills.
Looking ahead, I hope AI will become more human-friendly. It could create more interactive language learning environments, like virtual language partners that understand cultural nuances. Meanwhile, ethical use of AI should be emphasized to ensure it serves humanity positively. With proper development, AI will surely make our lives smarter and more connected.

①When people think of wildfires, burning trees often come up. If you see a city burning while its trees remain standing, you might wonder if something unusual is happening.
②For weeks in January, large wildfires spread through Los Angeles. They destroyed a large number of homes and many people lost their lives. As pictures of the fires spread across the Internet, people noticed trees standing next to burned-out homes and cars. Some didn’t believe that a fire would leave trees untouched. “Is there a secret attack on L.A.homes?” they asked. The simple answer is no. As plenty of pictures and videos from Los Angeles show, trees can and do catch fire.
③But it’s true that some did not burn. Scientists say there is a simple explanation for that.
④It is all about moisture. “It’s quite easy to understand,” said Miranda Hart, a biology professor. “Trees are filled with thousands: and thousands of liters (升) of water.” To be clear, trees do burn when fires are big and hot enough. But if a tree full of water is next to something very dry, the dry thing will burn first and even change the way of the fire. “In that way, you can imagine the fire just going around the tree if there’s enough ‘fuel’ (燃料) on either side of it,” Prof. Hart added.
⑤In addition, the tree type also matters. Certain trees are more likely to catch fire. Deciduous trees (trees that lose their leaves every year), for example, are hard to burn. That’s because their leaves include more water. While for conifers-trees with needlelike (针状的) leaves, things are the opposite.
⑥In Los Angeles, palms (棕榈树) are everywhere. They’ve become a symbol of the city. But based on the research, palm trees are especially easy to spread fire because of their structure and type. So, to reduce fire risks, the local fire departments have advised against planting more palms. Without proper care, these trees can burn and spread rapidly during wildfires and endanger the people and objects nearby.
31.Some people had doubts about the wildfires in Los Angeles because ________.
A.they have lasted much longer than usual B.hidden enemies attacked homes and cars
C.some trees remained unchanged in the fires D.pictures of the fires spread across the Internet
32.The underlined word “moisture” in paragraph 4 probably means “________”.
A.dry condition B.water content C.high heat D.cold temperature
33.How would a fire pass through a tree full of water and dry things according to Prof. Hart?
a tree full of water a dry thing fire’s path
A. B. C. D.
34.According to the passage, which type of tree is easier to catch fire?
A.Trees with thin, narrow and hard leaves. B.Trees which drop their leaves every year.
C.Trees with rich water in their broad leaves. D.Trees that are taller than the others around.
35.Which of the following shows the structure of this text according to the theory (理论) below?
problem-raising (提出)

problem-analyzing (分析)

A.①②→③④→⑤⑥ B.①②→③④⑤→⑥
C.①→②③→④⑤⑥ D.①→②③④⑤→⑥

①How did you spend your last holiday? Did you just stare (注视) at a screen from morning til night? Well, you are not alone. A new survey shows that the average Chinese person spends over five and a half hours online every day. That’s a lot of time scrolling (滚屏) and watching videos! But is this really helping us relax, or is it just making our brains tired?
②First, let’s think about how we spend our time online. Most of us watch short videos rather than learning something new. This kind of low-value material doesn’t help us relax—it actually makes our thinking less clear. The term “brain rot” perfectly describes what happens when we spend too much time on meaningless online things.
③Meanwhile, using the Internet is like eating your favorite snack: it’s hard to stop. Our phones and tablets are full of endless short videos and memes, making them like personal fun factories. It’s easy and comfortable to just sit and scroll for hours, but this “easy fun” comes at a cost. The more time we spend on screens, the less we enjoy real life. We’re missing out on beautiful sunsets, heartfelt thanks, and fun hobbies. When did our lives become so boring?
④Also, we’re forgetting how to relax in a meaningful way. Free time shouldn’t just be about watching Douyin or Bilibili. Instead, it should be a chance to connect with the world. Nature doesn’t have Wi-Fi, but it has fresh air, sunlight, and birdsong. Spending time with friends in real life is much better than laughing alone at a meme on your screen.
⑤In short, life isn’t about how much time you have— it’s about how you use it. Screens are here to stay, but they shouldn’t take over our free time. The summer holiday is coming soon. Will you choose to do something more meaningful? Remember, “brain rot” is real!
36.What does “brain rot” mean in the passage?
A.Enjoying real-life activities. B.Learning something new online.
C.Feeling sad after watching videos. D.Thinking less clearly because of screen time.
37.Why does the author compare Internet to snacks?
A.It’s not easy to control. B.It’s a waste of time. C.It’s bad for one’s health. D.It’s one way to have fun.
38.What does the author suggest for a meaningful holiday?
A.Chat with friends online. B.Stay indoors and use Wi-Fi.
C.Watch more educational videos. D.Spend time in nature or with friends.
39.What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
40.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Advantages of Online Education. B.Smart Internet Usage Tips.
C.Short Videos’ Popularity in China. D.Balancing Screen Time and Real Life.

1.—Have you heard about Meituan’s drone (无人机) delivery service in 2025?
—Yes! Its speed is ________ belief. How cool!
A.against B.without C.beyond D.through
against反对;without没有;beyond超过;through穿过。根据“...belief. How cool!”
2.—Is there ________ on CCTV today?
—Of course. Beijing announces tariffs (关税) of 34% will ________ on all U.S. goods ________ a week.
A.anything important; be raised; in B.something important; raise; during
C.something important; be risen; for D.anything important; rise; within
【答案】A
故选A。
3.—The latest film The New Avengers (新复仇者联盟) is fantastic. The big scenes impress us a lot.
—________. I can’t think too highly of it.
A.Not exactly B.Don’t mention it C.I agree D.Quite the opposite
Not exactly不完全是;Don’t mention it别客气;I agree我同意;Quite the opposite恰恰相反。根据“The latest film The New Avengers (新复仇者联盟) is fantastic”和“I can’t think too highly of it.”
4.—Do you remember the Yangge folk dance performed by robots at the 2025 Spring Festival Gala?
—Yes, that’s really amazing. And I wondered ________.
A.why could they move so easily B.what exactly made them so smart
C.if they can hear the music just like us D.that they could do more difficult tasks
选项D的陈述句“that they could do more difficult tasks”不符合“wondered”表达的疑问语气。故选B。
5.—________ you ________ the “Rural Run” event in Jiangyan?
—Yes, I have. Also, I ________ a lot of beautiful photos during the run.
A.Have; attended; have taken B.Did; attend; have taken
C.Have; attended; took D.Did; attend; took
根据“Yes, I have.”可知,此处时态为现在完成时,其结构是“have/has+过去分词”,因此第一空填助动词have,第二空填attend的过去分词attended;根据“I... a lot of beautiful photos during the run.”
6.—After 5 years of hard work, the director Jiaozi finally released Ne Zha 2 (《哪吒之魔童闹海》) and it is really a great success.
—________. We should learn from him.
A.No pain, no gain B.Many hands make perfect C.Practice makes perfect D.Every dog has its day

→
problem-analyzing (分析)

A.①②→③④→⑤⑥ B.①②→③④⑤→⑥
C.①→②③→④⑤⑥ D.①→②③④⑤→⑥
【答案】31.C 32.B 33.B 34.A 35.B
根据第②段“Some didn’t believe that a fire would leave trees untouched. ‘Is there a secret attack on L.A. homes?’ they asked.”
文中“But if a tree full of water is next to something very dry, the dry thing will burn first and even change the way of the fire.”
根据“Deciduous trees (trees that lose their leaves every year), for example, are hard to burn. That’s because their leaves include more water. While for conifers-trees with needlelike (针状的) leaves, things are the opposite.” 故选A。
C

根据第三段“using the Internet is like eating your favorite snack: it’s hard to stop.” 故选A。
根据第四段“Nature doesn’t have Wi-Fi, but it has fresh air, sunlight, and birdsong. Spending time with friends in real life is much better than laughing alone at a meme on your screen.”

A Special Show Held in San Francisco
A special show, Qi Baishi: Inspiration in Ink (水墨灵韵), brings the beauty of Chinese ink art to Americans. Held at San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum on Dec 12, 2024, the show displays nearly 50 paintings and letters by Qi Baishi (1864-1957), one of China’s most famous 20th-century painters. It runs until April 9, 2025 and will later go to Boston.
Qi is best known for painting nature’s small wonders-shrimps (虾), birds, chickens and fish. His works show the simple joy of life, whether it’s a tiny insect, or an opening flower. His paintings catch millions of art fans’ eyes by bringing back memories of the countryside and their hometowns. “His works are special and he mostly praised the energy of nature and life’s strength through his art,” says Du Yuxin from the Beijing Fine Art Academy.
Born into a village in Hunan, Qi started as a carpenter (木匠). It was really a hard situation then. But just like those small lives he painted, their strong wish for life pushed him to keep going. He taught himself painting and later moved to Beijing to learn art. “He was sincere and down-to-earth, painting what he saw and felt,” Du explains. Finally, he became really good at ink painting, bringing traditional skills and his own style together.
The show isn’t just about looking at art. One popular part is Letters from Baishi. Hundreds of envelopes (信封) hang in the air. Inside, there is a letter and a copy of Qi’s artworks. Visitors can take one as a souvenir (纪念品). Next to it is the “Time-travel Postbox,” where people can write letters to Qi. Visitor Smith wrote, “Thank you for creating your art.

It helps me remember this is where we come from.”
Qi’s works were first shown in San Francisco in 1960, and now this new show continues to bridge cultures and gets people around the world to have a better understanding of Chinese art.

Chinese calligraphy is known as “shufa”. It’s one of China’s most treasured traditions. For thousands of years, people 56 (use) brushes, ink, and paper to create art with words. It’s more than just writing—it’s a way 57 (express) feelings and wisdom as well.
When I first tried calligraphy, my teacher told me, “Every stroke (笔画) has a soul.” I dipped the brush into thick black ink and 58 (careful) drew a horizontal (水平的) line. My hand shook, and the line looked messy. But my teacher said 59 a smile, “Patience is key. Let your heart guide the brush.” Over time, I learned that calligraphy teaches more than art—it also teaches focus and calmness.
In ancient times, scholars spent years learning calligraphy well. They believed beautiful writing reflected (反映) 60 beautiful mind. Even today, many Chinese families hang calligraphy works at their home, often with 61 (mean) sayings like “平安” (peace) or “福” (good fortune). These words carry people’s hopes and wishes.
Calligraphy is also part of festivals. During the Spring Festival, people write red couplets (春联) to decorate doors. The bold, flowing characters welcome luck and 62 (happy) for the new year.
63 (learn) calligraphy helped me understand Chinese culture more deeply. Like a bridge, calligraphy connects the past and present. Every time I write, I feel 64 (close) to the wisdom of ancient poets and philosophers (哲学家) than before. 65 the Chinese saying goes, “Your handwriting mirrors your character.” Through calligraphy, I’m not just creating art—I’m growing patience and respect for tradition.
