A new study in the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry shows that people who listen to music or play a musical instrument can reduce their risk of getting serious memory loss by about one third.
The study, done by Monash University in Australia, studied over 10,800 Australians aged 70 and above. It tried to find out if music activities-listening, playing an instrument, or both-could help protect against serious memory loss and keep older people’s brains healthy. Researchers tracked the volunteers for years to check their changes in thinking ability. From the third year, they compared how often serious memory loss happened among people who spent different amounts of time on music.
Results showed that people who always listened to music had a 39% lower serious memory loss risk than those who seldom or never did. Regular music listening also reduced the risk of early signs of forgetfulness (not serious memory loss yet) by 17%. Playing an instrument often cut serious memory loss risk by 35%, while doing both lowered serious memory loss risk by 33% and memory problems by 22%. ___▲___, especially those who studied for over 16 years.
Researchers said lifestyle choices like music can influence brain aging, not just age and genes (基因). Music has become a helpful way to keep our brains healthy.

An American online star named IShowSpeed, who is called “Jia Kang Ge” in China, recently travelled to several cities in China. His trip gave millions of followers around the world a fresh look at modern China.
Speed was amazed by China’s technology. In Shanghai, he tried electric cars and was surprised by how fast and smart they were. He also took high-speed trains and used 5G networks, which allowed him to stream(直播)smoothly even while traveling.
Wherever he went, Speed met kind local people. He walked safely in cities at night and joined public activities like square dancing. His guards even felt relaxed and took photos with fans. This showed him the warmth and the safety of Chinese society.

It’s pain, but it’s Shaolin. It’s pain, but it’s kung fu. It’s pain, but it’s you.” These experiences helped him understand China’s long history and deep traditions.
Speed’s videos give a real picture of what China is like. They are also changing how people around the world see the country. They saw a country that is open, lively, and happy to share its life and stories. As one fan shared, “After watching, I realized my old ideas about China were wrong. Over the break times between classes, Xiao Jingsheng from Beijing Shangdi Experimental School often rushed to the toilet and back to class with no time for anything else. But now that has changed. “I can have more time to rest and share interesting things with my classmates,” said the 14-year-old.
Starting this autumn term, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing have longer breaks between classes, changing from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The change is meant to ask students to spend time outdoors for their physical and mental health. To allow children to enjoy break-time activities, some schools have mixed break-time with labor education by opening planting areas and animal breeding zones (饲养区).
“We have welcomed new friends to our school — some ducks and rabbits!” said Zhang Boren, a 13-year-old from Beijing 101 Middle School Kuangda Campus. “There are fewer students sitting at their desks. Some play with these cute animals, while others exercise on the playground. We get closer to nature, which is refreshing and relaxing.”
Some schools have opened up activity areas both indoors and outdoors. At the School Affiliated to Chaoyang Education Research Center, the ground floor of the teaching building has opened a biology lab for students to study the life cycles of animals and plants. The second-floor corridor is designed with spaces for free reading and chess games. As the break time is longer, making sure everyone is safe is also important. PE teachers from the school keep an eye on students playing on the ground. “Sometimes the ground can be wet in the morning, so we remind the students to do more upper body exercises to avoid running and slipping (滑倒),” said PE teacher Li Tao.

set up“建立”,picked up“捡起/学会”,stood up“站起”均不符合描述成长背景的语境。
根据“in case his bike went wrong”,对应的动作应该是修理,应用fix“修理”。
your“你的”,her“她的”,their“他们的”均指代错误。
By the way“顺便说一句”,For the way和In the way“挡路”均不符合语境。
根据“know what you’re able to do until you try”,你永远不会知道你能做什么,直到你去尝试,应用never“从不”。

“We have welcomed new friends to our school—some ducks and rabbits!” said Zhang Boren, a 13-year-old from Beijing 101 Middle School Kuangda Campus.

He also learned about Chinese culture. In Henan province, he visited the Shaolin Temple and learned kung fu. There, kung fu master Liang Xiaolong told him, “It’s pain, but it’s life.
I feel that if I don’t go to China, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.”
IShowSpeed not only helped break wrong ideas but also built a cultural bridge between China and the world.
