Some people see oysters (牡蛎) as delicious food. But some raise oysters to clean up the polluted sea water. Amy, a 15-year-old girl, is one of them. She has won a master oyster gardener prize this year. She thinks oysters are really helpful. They are environmental stars.
“I knew nothing about oyster gardening when I started in 2022. I learned all of this after I completed a free course about it. The course is about raising oysters in cages (笼子),” Amy says.
There used to be lots of oysters in coastal waters. But their numbers have diminished. This is mainly because of some natural disasters. Oyster gardening is a way to help. “Anyone can join,” an oyster gardening researcher Liz Black says.
“You don’t have to do a lot to take care of your oysters, but the influence they have on the environment is huge.” Amy says.
During the oyster gardening season, Amy and her mom go to the beach. There Amy has nine cages. “Once a week I go out there,” she says. She pulls the cages from the water to check the conditions of the oysters.
This spring, Amy’s oysters will be big enough to be collected. Amy will go with Liz to pick them up. Oysters that are collected will then be “planted” on the reefs (珊瑚礁). So far, Amy has raised more than 1,500 oysters. She’s a great leader of oyster gardening and a great supporter, too.

第四部分 读写综合(共两节,满分25分)
第一节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Recently, a new catchphrase has taken Chinese social media by storm. It is “ai ni laoji” which translates to “love you, my old self” in English. For many young people, especially middle school students, this simple phrase has become a warm self-reminder.
The phrase first rose to popularity around the end of 2025. It came from a catchy line in a well-liked online game. Before long, it spread across the internet. Millions of young people use it every day: they cheer themselves up when sad, celebrate small joys like buying milk tea, praise their hard work, or let go of small mistakes instead of blaming (责怪) themselves.
This reflects an important change in young people’s minds. In the past, many young people were too hard on themselves, cared too much about others’ opinions and overlooked their own needs. However, now more young people learn to understand and accept their true selves. They learn to say “no” to heavy stress and treat themselves as kindly as they treat their friends.
“Ai ni laoji” is by no means selfish (自私的). The reason is that it focuses on people’s inner happiness. Also, it tells us imperfection is perfectly acceptable. As some media said, this phrase marks a positive small change in social values: young people care more about their personal interests rather than pursue the success in other people’s eyes.
In conclusion, “ai ni laoji” is far more than just a popular catchphrase. It is a heartfelt promise young people make to themselves: to stand by their own side, to accept their shortcomings, and to move forward bravely with self-love and a strong will.
36. What does the phrase “ai ni laoji” mean in English?

【5题详解】
由“She pulls the cages from the water to check the conditions of the oysters.”
