In the mountainous areas of southern Anhui, the unique Hui-style architecture has stood for centuries, showing the wisdom of ancient Chinese builders. These white-walled, black-tiled houses with horse-head shaped gables are not just beautiful, but also scientifically designed for local living conditions.
The thick walls made of special clay mixed with lime and sand keep houses cool in summer and warm in winter. The cleverly designed skywell (天井) in the center of each house solves two problems: it lets in sunlight and fresh air, while collecting rainwater for daily use. What’s more surprising is the fireproof system-the wooden structures are treated with fire-resistant paint, and the high walls between houses prevent fires from spreading.
Modern architects are now studying these ancient techniques. Professor Wang from Hefei University says, “The Hui-style buildings are perfect examples of sustainable architecture. They used local materials and adapted to the environment long before ‘eco-friendly’ became a popular concept.” In 2000, Xidi and Hongcun villages became UNESCO World Heritage Sites, attracting researchers and tourists worldwide.
59.What is the main purpose of the skywell in Hui-style houses?
A.To decorate the house beautifully B.To provide light, air and collect water

A.By building high separating walls B.By using stone materials
C.By painting pictures on wooden structure D.By planting many woods around

A.It’s too old to be useful today. B.It’s a model of green building.
C.It’s only valuable for tourism. D.It’s popular all over the world.

B.They attract many researchers.

D.They use modern fireproof technology

In this rapidly changing world, cultural exchange is becoming more and more important. Some traditional ways of spreading culture are not popular with young people today. However, new works like Ne Zha 2 and Chinese Strange Tales 2 have been very successful around the world. They show us a clear truth: we need new ways to make traditional culture welcome among young people.
New technologies, such as amazing pictures and lively video effects, play a great role in renewing traditional culture. Chinese Strange Tales 2 brings old traditional stories back to life in a modern way. It uses great visual (视觉的) effects and plenty of Chinese cultural stories. It not only attracts people but also helps them learn old stories in a creative and interesting way.
However, innovation (创新) does not mean forgetting our own cultural roots. We can put traditional elements into modern works and work with artists from other countries as well. In this way, Chinese culture can resonate (共鸣) with more international listeners and become popular all over the world.
The challenge lies in balancing entertainment (娱乐) with meaning. Good cultural works are not only fun to enjoy but also rich in spirit. When new technologies connect with traditional culture, it helps build cultural confidence. It also lets Chinese culture win hearts among the global younger generations with its special beauty and vitality (活力).
63.The passage is most probably taken from ________.
A.a scientific study B.a folk story C.a cultural magazine D.a travel guide
64.What can we learn from the two examples in the passage?
A.New works only use modern technologies and give up old stories.
B.New works help young people learn traditional culture in a creative way.
C.All old ways of spreading culture are still popular with young people.
D.New works make young people forget their cultural roots easily.
65.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Traditional Culture in Modern Ways B.Popular Movies in China
C.New Technologies and Daily Life D.Ways to Make International Friends
D
“Please don’t kill me.” This is what a girl said recently when she was attacked by a sea lion in California, US. Usually considered a friendly animal, many believe the sea lion went crazy because it was poisoned (毒害) by algae (海藻).
The “criminal” is a kind of poison from a harmful algae. According to the US National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries), more than 100 calls are made every day reporting sea lions and dolphins influenced by this poison.
John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center in Los Angeles, told the BBC that these animals don’t really attack people. “These animals are reacting to the fact that they are sick,” he said. The harmful algae grows fast when deep ocean water moves up to the surface. This brings nutrients (营养) that help the algae grow. Fish eat the algae and get the poison, and when dolphins and sea lions eat those fish, they get sick.
However, according to NOAA Fisheries, the harmful algae showed up earlier than usual. Climate change is a big reason for this, noted The Guardian. Warmer weather and changing ocean conditions make it easier for the algae to grow. Moreover, some scientists also think wildfires in Los Angeles might play a role. Large wildfires have caused the ocean near the beach to have more nutrients.
66.Why does the story begin with a girl being attacked by a sea lion?
A.To explain what to do in such situations.
B.To warn people to stay away from sea lions.
C.To criticize humans for polluting the ocean.
D.To show how poison can make sea lions act dangerously.
67.What can we learn from the US NOAA Fisheries?
A.Many sea lions are affected by poison.
B.The poison only affects sea lions and dolphins.
C.The harmful algae are being dealt with.
D.Scientists found a new poison from algae.
68.How does climate change affect the outbreaks of the harmful algae?
A.It makes them grow deeper underwater.
B.It causes genetic changes in the algae.
C.It decreases nutrients in the water.
D.It causes the algae to appear earlier.
69.What can be predicted about sea animals in California, according to the passage?
A.They may continue to face health problems.
B.They may cause climate change to be worse.
C.They may stop eating the algae very soon.
D.They may grow healthier as the ocean gets warmer.

Small things really make a great difference. You won’t understand how hard a cleaner’s job is unless you try doing it yourself.
More than once I have seen those volunteers, young or old, wearing red jackets and eye-catching red hats sweeping the streets, picking up leaves or plastic bags. Sometimes I think the volunteering work is simple. It may cost less energy and time. I guess I can make it, too.
Three years ago, we were asked to clean up the streets around the office building. I volunteered to work on it excitedly. At first, I didn’t take it seriously. However, when I wore the red hat, a sense of duty overcame me and a strange feeling of doing the right thing came out of nowhere.
We had to keep bending down to pick up the tiny paper or candy packages. The gloves failed to pick up the butts (烟头), so we had to take off gloves. Though there were few cigarette butts left, they seemed to be everywhere. I searched for them carefully, under the cars, around the trees and even between little stones. I could sense the admiration (钦佩) in others’ eyes. Pride filled my heart. Finally, we cleaned up the streets and felt quite tired.
When I felt how hard the cleaners were, I warned myself not to litter in public places.
70.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 2 refer to (指的是)?
A.The research. B.The red jacket. C.The volunteering work. D.The message.
71.What is introduced in Paragraph 3 about the writer’s clean-up?
A.The writer’s purpose. B.The writer’s feelings. C.Its steps. D.Its results.
72.Why did the writer have to take off the gloves in clean-up?
A.Because they couldn’t pick up the butts. B.Because they were ugly.
C.Because they were too heavy. D.Because they were broken.

【答案】70.C 71.B 72.A
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了作者通过参与志愿者清洁工作的亲身经历,体会到清洁工的辛苦,并告诫自己不要在公共场所乱扔垃圾。
70.词义猜测题。根据文章第二段“Sometimes I think the volunteering work is simple. It may cost less energy and time.”可知,作者觉得志愿者工作很简单,它可能花费更少的精力和时间,“It”指代“the volunteering work”。故选C。
71.推理判断题。根据文章第三段“I volunteered to work on it excitedly...a sense of duty overcame me and a strange feeling of doing the right thing came out of nowhere.”可知,开始时作者兴奋地主动请缨,然后一种责任感油然而生,同时还有一种莫名的、正在做正确事情的感觉不知从何处涌现出来,由此可知本段主要描写了作者的情感变化。故选B。
72.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“The gloves failed to pick up the butts, so we had to take off gloves.”可知,摘掉手套是因为无法用它们捡起烟头。故选A。

【答案】
例文
Good morning, everyone. I‘m glad to stand here to give a speech. When I was a child, a thought of traveling in space sprouted in my heart.
I know becoming an astronaut is not easy, but I will still try my best to achieve it. Space life is full of danger. Only with sufficient knowledge can I have the confidence and ability to face the unknown environment in space. So I am going to study hard and get more knowledge about space. In addition, I am going to take more exercise to get a strong body. Unless I have a healthy body, it is impossible for me to get to the space station.
There is an old saying that “Everything comes to him who waits”. I believe that with my continuous efforts, my dream will come true one day.
