In August 2017, the town of Katy, Southeast Texas was badly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Nearly 700 of its homes and 80 businesses were 1 or destroyed. The day had started out as usual for Mrs. Ito until the late afternoon when the news of destructive tsunami came over the radio.
