I never considered myself an athlete at all as I was very uncoordinated However, I did love to run because I felt as if I was flying, but this all changed two years ago when I suffered a knee injury. I was bedridden for two weeks and I had a difficult time moving even short distances. I literally cried myself on my way to the car for a few days. When therapy wasn’t working well for me, I signed up for a hot yoga class for girls, Bikram Yoga to be exact. Starting a yoga practice was truly a godsend because it helped me gain strength in my knees but, most importantly, yoga helped me attain a more peaceful state of mind, body and spirit. Since each class was heated to 105 F, every time I set foot in the yoga studio, I’d feel a surge (涌起) of negative thoughts come upon me like a big ocean wave. Some of these thoughts were, in the beginning of my practice, so strong that I walked out of the class several times, However, as the months passed by, I noticed that when I didn’t get swayed away by my negative thoughts, I could stay in the hot room for longer. After 3-4 months of practicing hot yoga, my arms and legs were beginning to get definition. I also woke up with so much more energy than I had before starting my yoga practice and I gradually started shedding the pounds from my body. Yoga literally made me feel as if I’d taken a shot of energy drink and just gave me that burst that helped my knees heal and made my overall health better. As I saw some of my classmates do poses that looked appealing to me, I started to think maybe I could do them too. Therefore, yoga helped show me that I have no real limitations physically unless I set those limitations myself through eating junk and thinking in negative limiting terms. Also, practicing yoga in front of a mirror helped me connect with myself and practicing with a group of people really helped me to feel a greater sense of connection with humanity whereas before I didn’t. Overall, this yoga practice has helped me to see I’m part of a bigger picture in life! 41. What once depressed the author terribly? A. Her inability to walk B. Her being uncoordinated. C. Her failure to find her car. D. Her serious physical disease. 42. What was the effect of yoga classes on the author’s mind? A. She got emotionally smarter. B. She felt limited but hopeful. C. She became mentally stronger. D. She accepted herself as she was. 43. What difficulty did the author meet while attending each yoga class? A. The temperature was difficult to control in yoga class. B. She couldn’t bear the pain the knee injury brought. C. She was greatly influenced by negative thoughts. D. Lack of confidence prevented the author doing yoga. 44. What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 4? A. She did better than her classmates at school. B. Her physical state has acquired a new outlook. C. She has developed many healthy eating habits. D. Her social circle was widened in the yoga classes. 45. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage? A. On Oct 21, Iceland’s Natural Science Institute announced that three mosquitoes had been discovered near Reykjavik, the capital city. This marks “the first record of mosquitoes in the wild in Iceland,” Matthias Alfredson, a scientist at the institute, told CNN. Mosquitoes are common insects with over 3,700 species worldwide, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Iceland, thanks to its cold, harsh climate, was once one of only two places on Earth without mosquitoes — the other being Antarctica. However, climate change is changing that. This spring, Iceland saw record temperatures, 26. 6°C on May 15, with some areas reaching 10°C above average, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Iceland isn’t alone: Hawaii lost its mosquito-free status in 1826, when mosquitoes “hitchhiked (搭便车)” there on European and American ships. They thrived in Hawaii’s warm climate, and in recent years, global warming has helped expand their range into the islands’ higher-elevation (更高海拔) forests that were once too cold for them. Even in regions where mosquitoes are common, more species are appearing as the planet warms, The Guardian reported. For example in the UK, two non-native species, one of which is the Egyptian mosquito, were discovered this year. They can spread diseases like dengue fever (登革热), which affects 100 to 400 million people annually, according to the World Health Organization. Mosquitoes depend heavily on temperature for survival: they are cold-blooded, poikilothermal (变温), meaning their body temperature matches their environment, explained The Conversation. Mosquito larvae (幼虫) need temperatures between 7℃ and 16℃ to grow, and adults prefer temperatures over 27℃, hibernating when temperatures drop below 10℃. Besides temperature, climate change also aids mosquito spread by disrupting precipitation patterns (降水模式) — given that mosquitoes develop in stagnant, dirty water before maturing into adults, the Stanford Report noted. And floods create breeding pools for them, while droughts lead people to store water, increasing mosquito habitats, according to the World Mosquito Program, a non-profit organization run by Monash University in Australia. While mosquitoes are thriving due to climate change, other animals are being forced to move farther north as a result of the same trend, World Atlas notes. This is particularly true for Arctic species like polar bears and snowy owl (雪鸮). 46. What is the focus of Paragraph 1? A. The reason for Iceland’s mosquito-free history. B. The first discovery of mosquitoes in Iceland. C. The climate feature of Iceland’s capital. D. A scientist working in Iceland’s institute. 47. What does the underlined word “thrived” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Grew rapidly. B. Survived hardly C. Disappeared suddenly. D. Changed completely. 48. What do we know about mosquitoes’ temperature preferences from Paragraph 6? A. Adults hibernate when temperatures are above 27℃. B. Young mosquitoes need temperatures below 7℃ to grow. C. Adults thrive in temperatures higher than 27℃. D. Their body temperature remains constant in cold environments. 49. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. More animals will enter Iceland in the future. B. Arctic species suffer most from climate change. C. Mosquitoes will continue to expand their range. D. Climate change affects animal movements differently. 50. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Climate change increases mosquitoes’ impact on health. B. Climate change provides conditions for mosquito survival. C. Climate change spreads mosquitoes and affects other species. D. Climate change makes Iceland and Hawaii lose mosquito-free status. B 47. A 48. C 49. D 50. 根据第一段“Officially: Iceland is no longer mosquito-free. On Oct 21, Iceland’s Natural Science Institute announced that three mosquitoes had been discovered near Reykjavik, the capital city. This marks “the first record of mosquitoes in the wild in Iceland,” Matthias Alfredson, a scientist at the institute, told CNN.(官方消息:冰岛已不再是无蚊之地。 故选A。 根据倒数第二段“Mosquito larvae (幼虫) need temperatures between 7℃ and 16℃ to grow, and adults prefer temperatures over 27℃, hibernating when temperatures drop below 10℃.(蚊子的幼虫需要在7℃至16℃的温度范围内生长,而成年蚊子则偏好高于27℃的温度。当气温降至10℃以下时,它们会进入冬眠状态)”可知,成年蚊子在高于27℃的温度下更为活跃。故选C。 【49题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“While mosquitoes are thriving due to climate change, other animals are being forced to move farther north as a result of the same trend, World Atlas notes. This is particularly true for Arctic species like polar bears and snowy owl (雪鸮).(《世界地图集》指出,虽然气候变化导致蚊子大量繁殖,但由于同样的趋势,其他动物也被迫向北迁移。对于北极熊和雪鸮这样的北极物种来说尤其如此)”可推知,气候变化对动物的迁徙活动有着不同的影响。故选D。 【50题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Officially: Iceland is no longer mosquito-free. This quote couldn’t be more relevant now, as many businesses and platforms are using shady practices to silence negative feedback and ensure only those voices benefiting them remain. This practice is so-called “artificial review boosting”, and has been influencing objectivity in reviews ever since. Its origin dates back to the 20th century when businesses would hand out free samples to obtain a better reputation. However, the practice rises to a new extreme with the emergence of e-commerce platforms. Many online businesses do whatever it takes to ensure high-rating scores, either through giving bonuses and rewards to customers who leave a good review or through bothering and threatening those who leave a negative one. This behavior is not only morally corrupt but also illegal, and it is absurd that many consumers feel they can’t leave negative feedback out of fear that businesses will cause troubles. It’s apparent that this problem is getting out of hand, but how can we fix it? Regulator intervention would certainly help. There should be a tougher crackdown on illegal practices, and e-commerce platforms should be required to protect the privacy of their users. Nevertheless, this is just a small part of the changes needed, as the rating system as a whole needs restructuring. Because this system rewards dishonest sellers rather than those selling quality products, and e-commerce platforms, with their profits unaffected, turn a blind eye to its faults. Against all odds, honest feedback has persisted and people who voice their true opinions still exist, but they are becoming rarer. There’s an old saying that if you put a frog in boiling water, it will leap out, but if you cook the frog slowly in warm water, it won’t notice being cooked alive. We consumers are just like frogs — it’s easy for us to fight together against terrible acts robbing our freedom, but we often ignore when the same freedom is gradually taken from us. There will be no grand coup de grace (致命一击) that ends honest feedback. Companies will just let it fade away slowly but we mustn’t allow that to happen because consumers play a more important role in keeping honest feedback. 51. Why does the author quote a saying in the first paragraph? A. To define artificial review boosting. B. To praise businesses and platforms. C. To lead in the discussion of a social phenomenon. D. To contrast negative feedback and positive feedback. 52. How did businesses ensure a good reputation in the 20th century? A. By giving coupons. B. By rewarding customers. C. By threatening customers. D. By giving samples away. 53. Which of the following practices is mentioned as a way businesses use to boost their reviews artificially? A. Giving rewards to customers who leave positive reviews. B. Providing free samples to gain a better reputation. C. Running advertising campaigns to increase visibility. D. Offering discounts to frequent customers. 54. Who plays the most important role in keeping honest feedback according to the passage? A. The regulator. B. E-commerce platforms. C. Sellers. D. Consumers. 55. What’s the author’s attitude toward “artificial review boosting”? A. Supportive. B. Skeptical. C. Negative. D. Neutral. 【答案】51. C 52. D 53. A 54. D 55. Companies will just let it fade away slowly but we mustn’t allow that to happen because consumers play a more important role in keeping honest feedback.(我们消费者就像青蛙一样——我们一起反抗剥夺我们自由的可怕行为很容易,但当同样的自由逐渐被剥夺时,我们常常视而不见。不会有任何致命一击来终结诚实的反馈。公司只会让它慢慢消失,但我们绝不能允许这种情况发生,因为消费者在保持诚实的反馈方面发挥着更重要的作用。)”可知,消费者在保持诚实的反馈方面发挥着更重要的作用。故选D项。 【55题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“This practice is so-called “artificial review boosting”, and has been influencing objectivity in reviews ever since.(这种做法被称为“人工提升评价”,并且自那时起就一直影响着评价的客观性。)”可知,作者认为这种做法影响着评价的客观性,再根据最后一段“Companies will just let it fade away slowly but we mustn’t allow that to happen because consumers play a more important role in keeping honest feedback.(公司只会让它慢慢消失,但我们绝不能允许这种情况发生,因为消费者在保持诚实的反馈方面发挥着更重要的作用。)” 第三部分:写作(共两节,满分35分) 第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) When I was in school, the class I dreaded most was my eighth grade art class. The teacher put down my every attempt at completing an assignment. I simply couldn’t produce art the way she wanted it. Luckily, I’d already proven myself in other creative areas. Yet, that art teacher was successful in convincing me that I had no talent for painting, drawing, or anything related to them. Imagine my surprise when I published my nature photography and became a volunteer art teacher! Unfortunately, my story is all too familiar to many people who come through my workshops and practice. Even more unfortunately, the vast majority of people were so discouraged in childhood that they cut off the creative impulse (冲动) in most areas of their lives. Their teachers, parents, or classmates convinced them they had no talent, so they gave up. The pain of failure was simply too great. Why have we forgotten creativity is an experience, not a result? Let’s consider why we express creativity in first place. To be creative is to be human. Everything we’ve at our disposal (处理) is the result of someone’s creative expression and willingness to take a risk. Even so, for creativity to flower and feel free of encumbrance (累赘), it needs to be about the joyful moments spent creating, not just about what we’ve to show for those moments. Whatever pattern you need to break, try to make it about the pleasure and not about the outcome. Therefore, I’d urge you to curb your perfectionism not enthusiasm! Perfectionism is the leading killer of artistic expression. Relax a little and bring back your childlike nature when you create. Children instinctively (本能地) know how to give over to the joy --- until someone teaches them otherwise! Let your creation be whatever it wants to be. See if it can lead you rather than the other way around. Let your unconsciousness come through, and let the expression of yourself be beautiful regardless of how it compares to anything else. After all, it’s yours, and no one but you could create it! 56. What made the author give up his dream of art? (no more than 15 words) 57. What does the third paragraph mainly tell us? (no more than 10 words) 58. Please explain the underlined word “curb” in English. (no more than 5 words) 59. According to the passage, what is necessary for a creative person? (no more than 10 words) 60 Do you think you are more creative as a student? Please give an example. (no more than 25 words) 【答案】56. His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art. Or: His teacher convinced him that he had no talent for art. 57. Creativity is an experience, not a result. Or: We should enjoy being creative. 58. Limit. / Control. / Hold. / Keep...within limits. / Keep...under control. 59. The childlike nature of creativity. 60. Open. Yes, perhaps I am. I used to draw a lot of imaginative pictures in childhood. Or: Yes, I often make some interesting handmade things by myself. 根据“Yet, that art teacher was successful in convincing me that I had no talent for painting, drawing, or anything related to them.然而,那位美术老师成功地让我相信,我没有绘画以及与它有关的任何东西的天赋。” 可知“His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art” 符合语境。 故填His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art. As I saw some of my classmates do poses that looked appealing to me I started to think maybe I could do them too. C. Even in regions where mosquitoes are common more species are appearing as the planet warms, The Guardian reported. For example in the UK, two non-native species, one of which is the Egyptian mosquito, were discovered this year. They can spread diseases like dengue fever (登革热), which affects 100 to 400 million people annually, according to the World Health Organization. Mosquitoes depend heavily on temperature for survival: they are cold-blooded, poikilothermal (变温的), meaning their body temperature matches their environment, explained The Conversation. D There’s a popular saying that if only one voice is allowed to exist; then that one voice must be lie. C. Sellers. D. Consumers. 55. Neutral. 第三部分:写作(共两节,满分35分) 第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) When I was in school, the class I dreaded most was my eighth grade art class.
