例文:
Growing Up with Books
Reading does a lot of good to us. It can make our after-school life more meaningful and colorful. It can also open up our eyes and minds. As a result, we would grow into better people through reading more.
However, some students spend much time on short videos or computer games. Fewer and fewer students are interested in reading. So I advise everyone to read more books, especially classics, so that we can spread traditional Chinese culture to the world.
Let’s start reading now, and let it become part of our life!

Have you ever imagined living on the sea? This idea could soon come true. The Maldives is building the world’s first floating (漂浮的) city and plans to complete it in 2027.
The city is like a man-made island. People will live on floating platforms (平台). These platforms are connected and placed along a hexagonal grid (六角网格). Natural coral reefs (珊瑚礁) will be grown around the city to keep the floating city stable (稳定的), so people who live here won’t feel seasick.
People will live a self-sufficient (自给自足的) life in the floating city. Electricity will be powered by solar energy (太阳能). Sewage (污水) will be treated there. More importantly, the island is not far away from land. It takes only 10 minutes to travel by boat between there and the capital of the Maldives.
Cool as it seems, the city is designed to solve real problems. The Maldives is one of the world’s lowest-lying countries. Most of its islands—including the capital—stand about 1 meter above sea level. And now climate change has brought a big problem—the rising sea level. According to CNN, 80 percent of the country’s land area will be under the sea by the end of the century.
“In the Maldives, we cannot stop the waves, but we can rise with them,” Mohamed Nasheed, former president (前总统) of the country, told Newsweek magazine.
Choose the answer:

Ignoring the laughter, he walked toward the blackboard and solved the problem. The teacher asked the class to clap (鼓掌) for him and took the note off his back. She told him, “It seems that you didn’t know about the note your classmate put on your back, but you didn’t seem to care anyway.”
Then the teacher looked at the rest of the class and said, “Before I punish you all, let me tell you two things. First, all of you will be labeled (贴标签) at one point or another by other people who don’t want you to succeed. All you have to do is ignore these labels. You have to take every chance you have to learn, grow and improve.”
Then the teacher added, “And it seems that none of you are friends with this boy, since none of you were kind enough to tell him about the note. If that’s true, then you’d better hope that you have some good friends yourself. Otherwise, you might be the one with a note stuck on your back someday with no one to tell you.”

At first, I could hardly see anything. After moving down through dark, narrow caves, my eyes were not used to the light. But when I could focus again, I stood in surprise.
“It’s a…sea,” I cried.
“Yes. Axel,” my uncle said, “and I shall give it my name, as I discovered it!”
There was a great lake or even an ocean. The shore was covered with small shells where the first living beings lived. Around this sea stood a huge rock wall.
I could see far over this great sea because of a strange light. Not sunlight, of course, as we were deep below the surface. With its bright, clear whiteness, the light must have been electric.
We kept quiet inside a cave that must have been several miles high.
Human words cannot describe the discoveries of those who have been deep into the earth. My imagination was powerless before such wonders. I felt surprised and quite scared at the same time. However, the soft salty air cheered me up. After many days in much narrower spaces, it was a great relief.
“Ready to walk a little now?” asked my uncle. “Yes, certainly.”
“Well, let us follow the shore then,” he said, and we began to explore.
Soon, in front of us appeared a forest with trees like umbrellas. “Mushrooms!” said my uncle. And he was right! There were mushrooms in their thousands, and each was at least nine metres high. How excellent they were!
“Wonderful!” cried my uncle. “Now look under your feet.”
I hadn’t noticed the many bones under our feet as we walked. Suddenly I thought, if once these monsters lived here, might some still walk through these dark forests? I looked around nervously, but we were the only living beings in this underworld. Thankfully!
Finally, we returned to the cave we had entered from, and I went to sleep with strange thoughts. Where did this underground sea end? Where would we go?
—Adapted from A Journey to the Centre of the Earth

B.It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
C.The girl was as brave as a lion when facing problems.
D.She sells special and stylish seashells by the seashore.
39.What is the RIGHT order of the story?
Axel and his uncle saw many mushrooms.
Axel slept with strange thoughts.
Axel guessed that the light was electric.
Axel’s uncle discovered a great sea.
Axel and his uncle walked on the bones.
A. B. C. D.
40.Why did Axel’s feelings change so many times during the journey?
A.Because the underground world was too dark. B.Because he was unable to think in a clear way.
C.Because he was so tired that he wanted to sleep. D.Because the journey was full of the unexpected.

Students in Denmark take national tests on a computer at different times. With 4 years’ test results, researchers found something interesting. Students who took the test in the morning scored higher than those who took it in the afternoon.
So what happens? We might have noticed that in the afternoon we become less productive and the work we do is of lower quality. A lot of people around the world experience the same thing every day. That’s called the afternoon slump (低迷).
Why does this happen? Our bodies are controlled by our circadian rhythm (昼夜规律) which is like a clock. It tells our bodies when to go to sleep and wake up. Our energy levels change with the circadian rhythm.
We are smarter and more energetic during some parts of the day, while during others, we are less energetic. For example, during the night we experience a large drop in energy, especially between 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. However, our energy slowly rises after waking up until it reaches the highest in the late morning. But it is then followed by an afternoon low, which we call the afternoon slump. The low appears about seven hours after waking up, which is usually between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for most people. This is the time when people make more mistakes during the daytime. When the afternoon slump is over, it rises again. But as our body gets ready for sleep, it slowly drops.
The afternoon slump is natural, but there are some ways to get the energy back. Stretching (拉伸) for even 20 seconds, taking a break for about 15 minutes, eating a bar of black chocolate and so on can have a huge influence on your energy levels. Hopefully, you have a better idea about the afternoon slump and what we can do about it.

43.Which picture shows the change of the energy level with the time?
A. B.
C. D.
44.What can we infer according to the text?
A.The afternoon slump can be completely avoided.
B.Our energy levels are the highest in the early morning.
C.The afternoon slump is a problem for only students.
D.Simple actions like eating snacks helps get energy back.
45.Where is the text probably taken from?

31.What do we know about the floating city in the Maldives?
A.It creates land on the ocean. B.It is far away from land.
C.It is a wide and whole platform. D.It will be finished in three years.
32.Which of the following reflects that the floating city is self-sufficient?
A.It won’t cause ocean pollution. B.It is powered by solar energy.
C.It is connected to land. D.It can deal with sewage from the Maldives.
33.The floating city is designed to _____.
A.slow down the speed of climate change
B.protect the country from the rising sea level
C.take the place of the capital of the Maldives
D.introduce a new way of living in the sea

A student stuck a note on his classmate’s back while they were at recess (课间休息) one day. The note said “I’m Stupid”. He asked the rest of his classmates not to tell the boy. The other students started laughing at the boy, but wouldn’t say why.
Soon, it was time for their afternoon math class. Their teacher wrote a difficult problem on the blackboard. No one was able to solve it except the boy with the note on his back.

41.How does the writer support his idea in the third paragraph?
A.By comparing the fact. B.By explaining the reason.
C.By telling a story. D.By listing some numbers.
42.What can we know about the “afternoon slump”?
A.It only happens to students in Denmark. B.It makes students score higher in tests.
C.It is caused by natural body rhythms. D.It’s a sign of serious health problems.

C.A science fiction. D.A travel guide.

Later, I faced more challenges. When I started my robot company in my 61 (twenty), many people didn’t believe me. But I believe: Some people only believe when they see, while others see because they believe. In this fast-paced world, I would like 62 (take) it slow, avoiding shortcuts. I believe that if we keep doing difficult but right things, it 63 (pay) off in the future.
Till now, the robots our company invented 64 (become) the most popular in the world. We are lucky because technology is growing faster than ever. Together, we can create smarter AI, 65 (good) robots, cooler games and more amazing movies than before.
Finally, let’s remember the words from the movie Nezha. “Do you still want to change the world? I want to try! Let’s try together!”

Nowadays, more and more people are paying attention to teenagers’ mental health. Teenagers are facing various stress from study, relationships, and self-development. Many of them may experience mental health problems.
Stress from schoolwork is a common problem. A large amount of homework, exams, and high expectations (期待) from parents and teachers can make teenagers feel over tired. For example, Tom, a 15-year-old student, often stays up late to finish his homework. He feels so stressed that he sometimes has trouble concentrating in class.
Relationship problems also play a big part. Difficulties in getting along with classmates, conflicts (冲突) with parents, or problems in romantic (爱情的) relationships can deeply influence teenagers’ emotions (情绪). Sarah had an argument with her best friend last month. Since then, she has been feeling sad and lonely, and it even has influenced her daily life.
Moreover, the social media (媒介) brings new challenges. Students are crazy with the virtual (虚拟的) world. There is less communication with friends in reality (现实). It’s easy to lead to low self-esteem (自尊) and anxiety (焦虑) among teenagers.
It’s important to take actions to deal with these problems. Schools should offer more mental health classes and counseling (咨询) services. Parents need to communicate with their children more effectively and create a supportive (支持的) home environment. And teenagers themselves should learn to express their feelings and ask for help when they need.
