A new mobile app called Farm Assistant, developed by Wu Zeyin, makes farm work easier in Botswana.
Wu, an 11-year-old student from Zhejiang, moved to Botswana with his family seven years ago.
In Botswana, the desert climate is very common in most parts. "During the past years living in the country, I found there weren't many kinds of fruits and vegetables sold at local supermarkets, and quality was poor," he said. The low yield (产量) of common crops (庄稼) has much to do with the climate. For a long time, Botswana had to import many fruits and vegetables from foreign countries to meet the needs of its people.
In July last year, there was a pilot project to grow China's water-saving and drought-tolerant(耐早的) rice in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, which brought Wu some new ideas. When he got the news, he decided to develop an app for the local farmers. The app supports several crops commonly grown locally, including tomatoes, potatoes, onions, corn, carrots, and cabbage. Farmers who use the app can click on the crop picture to see its watering needs, seed (种子) price, selling price and yield. After planting the seeds, farmers click the timer to start, and the app reminds them what to do at each stage.
Wu said there is an old saying in China: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
24. _____________ makes it difficult to grow common crops.
A. The desert climate B. The poor seed quality
C. The farmer's laziness D. The shortage of sunshine
25. What does the underlined word "import" mean?
A.制造 B.进口 C.清洗 D.分类
26. What can we learn about this app?
A. Farmers can buy fruits from it. B. It was developed seven years ago.
C. It supports several crops except corn. D. Farmers can see the yield of the plants.
27. What can we infer (推断) from Wu Zeyin's words "teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"?
A. He'll teach farmers how to fish.
B. It's more important to learn ways.
C. He'll develop a new app about fishing.
D. The saying brings Wu new ideas about fishing.

Freshman year of high school is a big transition (过渡) for any student.Luckily, you’re not the only person going through this, and plenty of others have made the transition before you too.
One of the ways in which high school is different from middle school or junior high the most is the higher expectations(期待). You’ll find that you’re expected to keep closer track of your own schedule and responsibilities with fewer people checking up on you. At the same time, your classes are likely to become more challenging, and you might be taking part in new school activities as well.
Some students find it hard to keep up with everything at first, which is totally normal. One way to prepare in advance for these higher expectations is to make sure that you have organized schedules in place before you start high school.
Another important skill for meeting these higher expectations is building a strong support network. No matter how strong a student you are, at some point you will need some help. Keeping healthy relationships with your friends and teachers is a great way to make sure that you have people who are willing to help when you need them.
Try to get to know at least some of your teachers beyond your classroom communication. Be an active learner during class and stay after class to ask questions. Take advantage of (充分利用)email or class messaging systems. The better your teachers know you, the better prepared they’ll be to help when you need them.
It’s important for you to keep in mind as you start high school that no one is perfect. Transitions are hard for everyone, and starting high school is a big transition. These challenges provide a great chance to improve yourself.

Many people go to school for an education. They learn languages, history, geography, physics, chemistry and maths. Others go to school to learn a skill so that they can make a living. School education is very important and useful. Yet no one can learn everything from school. A teacher, no matter how much he knows, cannot teach his students everything they want to know. The teacher’s job is to show his students how to learn. He teaches them how to read and how to think. So much more is to be learned outside school by the students themselves.
It is always more important to study by oneself than to memorize some facts or a formula (公式). It is actually quite easy to learn a certain fact in history or a formula in maths. But it is very difficult to use a formula in working out a maths problem. Great scientists, such as Einstein, Newton and Galileo didn’t get everything from school. But they were all so successful. They invented so many things for mankind(人类). The reason for their success is that they worked hard both in and outside school, wasting not a single moment. They would ask many questions as they read and they did thousands of experiments.
Above all, they knew how to use their brains.
32.The subject which is not spoken of in the text is _____
A.Maths B.History C.psychology D.physics
33.The teacher’s job is to teach ___________.
A.everything the students want to know
B.the students everything that they know

A.they learned a lot at school
B.they knew how to learn new things outside class by themselves
C.they were so useful
D.they went to college and learned form professors
35.From the text we know that if we want to be successful, we should _______.
A.only learn more at school B.needn’t go to school
C.only learn science subjects D.learn to learn both at school and outside school
