I don't think I appreciate traditional festivals like Christmas and easter as much as my family. What do you mean? And just not that into them. Christmas and easter have many extra parts involved. I like to celebrate with the people I love in a comfortable environment. My favorite holiday is the summer festival. Is that because of our tradition, to swim in my pool every year before the parade? No, though, that is fun. It's because after the trade, we go to my parents giant barbecue with other friends. Everyone brings to dish of food or drinks, and then we talk and tell stories until the stars come out. People do that on Christmas and easter too. You know, I think IT just depends on your family's traditions. For some reason, I just feel that most people feel the need to buy expensive things that are unnecessary during Christmas and the easter. There is no expectation of getting or giving gifts. IT feels like you are forced into being nice because of a date. yes, but you don't have to do any of that to celebrate. My family makes gifts for one another, or we make promises saying we will help each other with projects or housework. I'm honor to talk to your class today about something I know a thing or two about being afraid. As you can see, I was born without arms. Every time I fell down, I was scared that I wouldn't be able to get up. My parents were too poor to afford plastic arms for me, but luckily, one of my doctors, doctor Wilson, showed me how to use my feet to do everything. Once I could do a few things by myself, I didn't feel scared of being alone anymore. In high school, everyone in my class made fun of me every morning. I was afraid of what they would say that was the hardest and darkest time in my life. But my teacher, mrs. Don't made sure I stay focused on my school work. SHE taught me to be strong and confident. Once I realized that I didn't matter what other people thought of me. I wasn't scared of being in the crowds anymore. Now that I have my own successful law company in manchester, I can afford those plastic arms. Maybe I will give them one day, but for now, my missing arms remind me every day that I don't have anything to be afraid of. Thank you, ms. Jackson. Will Physical Bookstores Disappear?
In my opinion, physical bookstores will not disappear completely.
Despite the rise of digital reading, there’s a unique charm in browsing through physical books, feeling their pages, and discovering unexpected gems. Moreover, bookstores often serve as cultural hubs, hosting events and fostering community engagement. They offer an experience that digital platforms can’t fully replicate, making them invaluable to readers and society alike. What can’t be ignored is that digital reading brings us physical as well as psychological damages especially to the young.
How about making a tour to a nearby Physical Bookstore to free yourself from digital world this weekend?
第二节 (满分25分)
Back in the present, Josh decided to cheer up his mom. He went to the kitchen to make leche flan for her. He remembered watching his mom make it when he was a child. It was magic. Magic he would recreate for her right now. While he was cooking, he couldn’t help but remember all the times his mom had gone the extra mile to make him happy. Josh realized that it was time to give back. Strangely, this time, he totally forgot about playing games! When he finished, he packed it carefully, and left home.
Josh went to the hospital to pick up his mom. He called her on the cellphone to ask where she was. The hospital passage seemed really long, but he finally reached his mom’s room. When he opened the door, he found his mom sitting in bed. Her eyes lit up when she saw Josh with the sweet dessert. At that moment, Josh realized that spending time with his mom and making her happy was far more important than playing games with his friends.

I’m Isaias Hernandez. For me, environmental education didn’t begin in a classroom. It began at home with my mother. As a first-generation economically disadvantaged Mexican-American, knowledge was a tool for life and curiosity was my guide. Before public school and textbooks, my mother was my first teacher. She reminded us that Spanish wasn’t just a language. It was a gift. Learning to write and speak it meant connecting to our roots and understanding the beautiful blend of languages and cultures around the world.
My early relationship with environmentalism was formed through small moments. I didn’t grow up going on nature hikes or camping trips. I grew up falling in love with the Discovery Channel and Nat Geo, studying animals and ecosystems I had never touched. I saw biologists, conservationists, and environmental storytellers on screen. I admired them. I quietly dreamed of doing what they did. But a part of me believed I could never do that. I wasn’t smart enough. I believed that kids like me growing up in poverty weren’t meant to be on screen, let alone in science.
Years later, I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Environmental Science. But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to create something of my own. I built QueerBrownVegan, a digital home connecting environmental education, storytelling, and cultural memory. What started as one page became a community — a space where people who looked like me, felt like me, and dreamed like me could learn, grow, and express environmentalism in their own voice.
Eventually, that dream I had as a kid came back. But I knew I couldn’t wait for someone to discover me. So I made my own show. I launched a digital web series called Teaching Climate Together — a DIY project with a vision bigger than the cost, driven by storytelling, passion, and a camera that never stopped recording.
24.What did Isaias’s mother tell him to do?
A.To stay curious always. B.To use knowledge as a tool for life.
C.To pass on cultural traditions. D.To understand the world through language.
25.How did Isaias’s early link with environmentalism start?
A.By joining nature hikes. B.By watching TV shows.
C.By admiring on-screen scientists. D.By dreaming of a science career.
26.What can be inferred from QueerBrownVegan?
A.It moved from online to offline. B.It mainly aimed at environmental education.
C.It was created before his graduation. D.It gained public attention.
27.Which words can best describe Isaias?
A.Determined and creative. B.Thoughtful and talkative.
C.Intelligent and patient. D.Outgoing and modest.
C
AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent.
The survey of 2,001 people also showed that younger generations are leading the way in using AI. The largest age group is 25- to 34-year-olds, with 18 percent looking for travel ideas through AI. That number drops to 13 percent for 18-to 24-year-olds. And only 3 percent of 55-to 64-year-olds are using AI for holiday tips.
However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go. In fact, people taking more traditional routes, such as looking through holiday brochures (手册), still take up 25 percent.
Abta says that AI will continue to grow when it comes to trip planning. Holidaymakers have already shown a level of trust in AI for making travel decisions. 43 percent people in the survey said they would be confident to some degree in letting an AI tool plan their holiday, with this number dropping to just 38 percent letting the tool book their trip for them.
Travel industry leaders state that AI will continue to be a big part of what customers do before they make a travel decision. According to them, AI will greatly influence the travel industry, but travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips. Travel companies will not vanish anytime soon, because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something.
28.How does the author develop paragraph 2?
A.By using examples. B.By comparing AI tools.
C.By explaining rules. D.By presenting numbers.
29.What is the most common way for people to make travel plans?
A.Depending on AI tools. B.Asking for others’ advice.
C.Searching the Internet. D.Reading the holiday advertisements.
30.What does the underlined word “vanish” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Disappear. B.Enlarge. C.Succeed. D.Recover.
31.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.The rapid development of AI tools.
B.The rising role of AI in travel planning.
C.The younger generations’ preference for AI.
D.The great challenges faced by travel companies.

A new generation of Chinese consumer brands is reshaping global markets, moving beyond their traditional role as low-cost manufacturers. Companies like Mixue, Chagee, and Pop Mart are expanding worldwide, competing through distinctive cultural identities and in-house innovation. Mixue has surpassed McDonald’s in global store count, while Chagee incorporates traditional opera themes, and Pop Mart creates globally appealing character-based toys. This shift marks a strategic evolution from purely price-based competition to value-driven branding.
These firms now emphasize proprietary design and intellectual property, building brand stories rooted in Chinese culture yet appealing to international tastes. This approach challenges the old stereotype of Chinese brands as mere imitators, showcasing their capacity for original creativity and quality that rivals established Western brands.
However, global expansion may meet with geopolitical challenges. While consumer brands face fewer direct political barriers than tech firms like TikTok, they must keep in mind that success requires consistently demonstrating innovation and reliability to overcome skepticism in some international markets. Their journey reflects both the opportunities and challenges of globalizing cultural products.
The rise of these brands benefits global consumers through increased choice and competitive innovation. For Western companies, it signals the end of foreign brand premium (溢价) in China, demanding deeper market adaptation. Ultimately, this trend may stimulate worldwide creativity, mirroring the transformative impact of Japanese and Korean brands in earlier eras, and reshaping global consumer landscapes through cultural and commercial exchange.
32.What is the fundamental change in the global strategy of Chinese brands?
A.From domestic sales to overseas manufacturing.
B.From market strategies to seeking state subsidies.
C.From innovation to rapid expansion.
D.From price competition to value and cultural branding.
33.Why does the author mention TikTok in paragraph 3?
A.criticize its global failure. B.praise its cultural export success.
C.contrast its greater political challenges. D.explain global skepticism to China.
34.What can be inferred about the future of Western brands in China?
A.Their “price advantage” is fading. B.They will quit the Chinese market.
C.They will lead through superior quality. D.They must partner with Chinese firms.
35.What is the author’s main purpose in writing this article?
A.To warn Western companies of threats.
B.To analyze the rise and impact of Chinese brands.
C.To highlight the role of government support.
D.To predict Chinese dominance in global markets.

Josh was a young boy who loved playing video games. He had a group of friends with whom he played online, and they made a great team. They used headsets (耳机) to talk to each other while playing games together, and they did this almost every day.
One Sunday afternoon, Josh’s mom, Andrea, approached him with a special request. She asked if he could help her make leche flan (焦糖布丁), which was Josh’s favorite dessert (甜点). His mom had been working very hard lately, but she always tried to spend more time with him. Josh wanted to play games with his friends because they hoped to do well in matches to compete for prizes. He finally refused his mom’s request.
A week later, Josh’s team lost many of their matches. Josh was very sad. This meant they wouldn’t be able to take part in the upcoming final. He wished he had spent more time playing games with his friends.
One evening, he came home and his mom wasn’t in. He texted her and found out she was in the hospital because she had fainted at work. She said she was safe and asked Josh to pick her up later at night.
Josh was at a loss. He realized that his mom was overworking herself. He wanted to express his feelings without just saying sorry, but he wasn’t sure how. Then he remembered a moment from his childhood. After a bad day at school, his mom had promised him “something that will cheer you up.” After working in the kitchen, she had brought out a plate of fresh leche flan. She ate a spoonful and smiled happily. Leche flan was also his mom’s favorite.

W: What do you mean?
M: I’m just not that into them. Christmas and Easter have many extra parts involved. I like to celebrate with the people I love in a comfortable environment. My favorite holiday is the summer festival.
W: Is it because of our tradition to swim in my pool every year before the parade?
M: No, though that is fun. It’s because after the parade we go to my parents’ giant barbecue with all their friends. Everyone brings a dish of food or drinks and then we talk and tell stories until the stars come out.
W: People do that on Christmas and Easter too, you know! I think it just depends on your family’s traditions.
M: For some reason, I just feel that most people feel the need to buy expensive things that are unnecessary during Christmas and Easter. There is no expectation of getting or giving gifts. It feels like you are forced into being nice, because of a date.
W: Yes, but you don’t have to do any of that to celebrate. My family makes gifts for one another or we make promises saying we will help each other with projects or housework.

【答案】18.B 19.B 20.C
【原文】 Thank you, Ms. Jackson. I’m honored to talk to your class today about something I know a thing or two about: being afraid. As you can see, I was born without arms. Every time I fell down, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to get up. My parents were too poor to afford plastic arms for me. But luckily one of my doctors, Dr. Wilson, showed me how to use my feet to do everything. Once I could do a few things by myself, I didn’t feel scared of being alone anymore. In high school, everyone in my class made fun of me. Every morning, I was afraid of what they would say. That was the hardest and darkest time in my life. But my teacher Mrs. Dalton made sure I stayed focused on my schoolwork. She taught me to be strong and confident. Once I realized that it didn’t matter what other people thought of me, I wasn’t scared of being in the crowds anymore. Now that I have my own successful law company in Manchester, I can afford those plastic arms. Maybe I will get them one day. But for now, my missing arms remind me every day that I don’t have anything to be afraid of.

【答案】24.C 25.B 26.D 27.A
根据第一段“She reminded us that Spanish wasn’t just a language. It was a gift. Learning to write and speak it meant connecting to our roots and understanding the beautiful blend of languages and cultures around the world.(她提醒我们,西班牙语不仅仅是一门语言。它是一份礼物。学习书写和说它意味着扎根我们的根源,并理解世界各地语言与文化的美好融合。)”可知,母亲教导他要传承自身文化与传统。故选C项。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段“I didn’t grow up going on nature hikes or camping trips. I grew up falling in love with the Discovery Channel and Nat Geo, studying animals and ecosystems I had never touched.(我成长过程中没有参加过自然远足或露营。我爱上了探索频道和国家地理,研究我从未接触过的动物和生态系统。)”可知,他早期与环保的联系是通过看电视节目开始的。故选B项。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段“What started as one page became a community — a space where people who looked like me, felt like me, and dreamed like me could learn, grow, and express environmentalism in their own voice.(这个最初只有一个页面的平台变成了一个社区,一个和我相似、有同感、有同样梦想的人可以学习、成长、用自己的声音表达环保理念的地方。)”可知,QueerBrownVegan获得了公众关注与认可。故选D项。
27.推理判断题。根据第三段“I wanted to create something of my own. I built QueerBrownVegan, a digital home connecting environmental education, storytelling, and cultural memory.(我想创造属于自己的东西。于是我创建了QueerBrownVegan,一个连接环境教育、故事讲述与文化记忆的数字家园。)”和第四段“I launched a digital web series called Teaching Climate Together — a DIY project with a vision bigger than the cost, driven by storytelling, passion, and a camera that never stopped recording.(我推出了一部名为《Teaching Climate Together 》的数字网络系列节目 —— 这是一个DIY项目,其愿景远超成本投入,它由故事讲述、热情与一台从未停止录制的相机驱动着。)”可知,Isaias Hernandez有决心且富有创造力。故选A项。

【答案】28.D 29.C 30.A 31.B
根据第二段的“2,001 people(2001个人)”,“18 percent(百分之18)”,“13 percent(百分之13)”和“3 percent(百分之3)”等可知,作者通过呈现具体的数字来强调AI对人们旅游选择的影响。故选D。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段的“However, AI has not taken over just yet when it comes to researching trips, as Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go.(然而,在旅行目的地的研究选择方面,人工智能尚未完全占据主导地位,因为互联网搜索(48%)以及亲朋好友的推荐(41%)仍是人们选择旅行去处时最常用的方式。)”可知,互联网搜索的占比为48%,是人们规划旅行最常用的方式。故选C。
30.词句猜测题。根据最后一段的“travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before booking trips(旅行者在预订行程前仍希望与旅行社进行沟通)”以及“because of that group of customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking something(这是因为有一部分顾客认为,在预订某样东西时,有必要亲自前往并与工作人员面对面交流)”可知,旅行者仍希望在预订旅行前与旅行社沟通,这部分消费者的需求让旅行社有存在的必要性。由此可推测,vanish在此处的意思是“消失”,和Disappear意思相近。故选A。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“AI has made its way into almost every field, and according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent.(人工智能几乎已渗透至各个领域,据英国旅行协会(Abta)最新发布的《度假习惯报告》显示,旅游业也不例外。在过去12个月里,借助人工智能获取旅行灵感的人数比例翻了一番,从4%升至8%。)”可知,全文围绕AI在旅行规划中日益凸显的作用展开,因此主旨是B选项“The rising role of AI in travel planning.(人工智能在旅行规划中日益重要的作用。)”。故选B。

【答案】32.D 33.C 34.A 35.B

32.细节理解题。根据第一段内容“This shift marks a strategic evolution from purely price-based competition to value-driven branding. (这一转变标志着战略上从纯粹的价格竞争向价值驱动的品牌建设演变)”等内容可知,中国品牌全球战略的根本变化是从价格竞争转向价值和文化品牌建设。故选D。
33.推理判断题。根据第三段内容“While consumer brands face fewer direct political barriers than tech firms like TikTok, they must keep in mind that success requires consistently demonstrating innovation and reliability to overcome skepticism in some international markets. (尽管消费品牌面临的直接政治壁垒比抖音等科技公司要少,但它们必须记住,要取得成功,就必须持续展现创新能力和可靠性,以克服一些国际市场的质疑)”可知,作者提及抖音,是为了将消费品牌与抖音这类科技公司作对比,突出抖音面临的政治挑战更大,而消费品牌的政治壁垒相对较少。故选C。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段内容“For Western companies, it signals the end of foreign brand premium (溢价) in China, demanding deeper market adaptation. (对西方企业而言,这标志着外国品牌在中国的溢价时代结束,它们需要更深入地适应市场)”可知,西方品牌在中国的“价格优势”正在逐渐消失。故选A。

Despite the rise of digital reading, there’s a unique charm in browsing through physical books, feeling their pages, and discovering unexpected gems. Moreover, bookstores often serve as cultural hubs, hosting events and fostering community engagement.

【答案】参考范文
