Every day when I enter the classroom, I will take a look at the wall beside my seat. You will find nothing special about this old wall if you just look at it. But for the students in my class, it is a special wall. Take a good look at it, and you will get to know the real feelings and thoughts of us, the students from Grade 9.
In the middle of the wall, there is a big “VICTORY” which was written in pencil. I guess it must have been written down by someone who got a good mark in an exam.
A little higher above “VICTORY”, there is a poem. It has only two sentences. It says: All those sweet memories have disappeared, like tears dropping in the heavy rain. It must have been written at the end of the last term in middle school. Classmates had to leave school and good friends had to part. What a sad poem!
If you “explore” the wall more carefully, you will find many other interesting things, like a crying face, or a happy face, and other patterns. There are still some patterns and letters that I can’t understand, but they all show the feelings of the students who drew them.
For years, the wall has witnessed (目睹) all the things that have happened in the classroom. I don’t know how it will be next year, two years from now, or even ten years from now. But I hope more smiling faces will be drawn on it.

Takeaway delivery (递送) Apps make ordering food quick and convenient, and it provides a lifeline to those who didn’t know how to prepare a meal for themselves. In the UK alone, people eat three million takeaway meals a day, and the three biggest delivery Apps together offer a choice of 100 cuisines (菜肴) from 60,000 restaurants. Research suggests that the ordered takeaways are expected to increase in the future.
However, eating too much processed and unhealthy fast food has some effect on obesity (肥胖症) and the risk of developing certain illnesses. It was found that most people ate fast food on two days per week. But, for 16 to 20-year-old teenagers, one in six ate fast food at least twice a day.
Of course, reducing salt, sugar and fat is one way to make takeaway food healthier, as well as offering smaller sizes. But the best advice is to find a recipe (菜谱) book and try making your own meal.
And if you haven’t got time, try ordering a healthier meal from the menu.

Peggy was a good girl. But not many words passed her lips (嘴唇) for she sometimes felt she had nothing interesting to say.
One day she discovered something special in the attic (阁楼). It was an old book with a great heavy, thick cover, with gold writing on it. But what made it truly special was how it shone in the darkness of the attic, and in the most magical way. What’s more, the book was actually floating in the air.
She took the book down to her room. She had just started to read it when her dog started speaking to her, “What an interesting book you’ve found!”
Peggy couldn’t believe it, but the dog continued talking, and asking a thousand questions. After some time, Peggy asked, “So how come you’re talking?” “I don’t know,” answered the dog. “Instead of just thinking about things, now I’m saying them too; I guess it was the book that did it, though.”
Peggy decided to do some research on the matter, and she thought she would show the book to some other animals, one after another, the animals all started talking, and, before long Peggy was chatting with three cats and a parrot. All of them had some interesting stories to tell!
One day, the book disappeared and with it went the animals’ voices. Peggy looked everywhere, but couldn’t find that book. In a few days, she missed the chats with her animal friends so much that she could hardly think of anything else. She was in great disappointment. Then she realized that she hardly ever spoke at all to her classmates, and they probably had some interesting stories to tell!

故填the。
【108题详解】
句意:她创作的动物姿势由石头的形状决定。根据语境可知,此处描述一般事实,应用一般现在时;主语“The poses”为复数,与动词decide之间为被动关系,应用被动语态are decided。故填are decided。
【109题详解】
句意:莫说这是一种需要创意想法的艺术形式。根据“requires creative”可知,此处应用名词作宾语,idea为可数名词,且此处表示泛指,应用复数形式ideas。故填ideas。

①There are many different houses in the world. They can be different because people are different. The houses can also be different because of where they are. Houses can be made in many shapes.
②The dome house
Some people live in windy places. Big winds like hurricanes (飓风) , can blow houses down. In one place, a house was made in the shape of a dome. When a big hurricane came, it didn’t blow down. However, all the other houses around it did. A dome house is made of triangle (三角形) shapes. The shape of the dome house lets the wind go around it. A dome house doesn’t have a roof (屋顶) to blow off. There is no wind in a dome house, so it is safer in a fire.
③A ball-shaped house
Some houses have been made in a shape like a ball. The walls, roof and floor are all one in a house with this shape. The wind moves around—the outside of the house. Ball-shaped houses can be hung from things or float (漂浮) on water.
④▲
A house on the ground can take up a lot of space. A house in a tree doesn’t use any space on the ground at all. No trees have to be chopped down to make room for these houses. And the tree house can be built in the shape of bee’s nest. Such a house doesn’t take very long to move to a new place. So it is helpful during the natural disasters (灾害).
⑤A walking house
Some people have made a house that can walk. It is the shape of a long hexagon (六边形). The house has six legs. It can walk over any ground. When it walks, three legs are always on the ground. A walking house would be very good if there was a flood or a fire.

Feeling hungry? If so, what’s the easiest way to satisfy your hunger? Many of us will reach for a takeaway menu and order some delicious- but possibly unhealthy food.
There are many eating choices, and new technology means we can feed ourselves easily.

Peggy decided to do some research on the matter and she thought she would show the book to some other animals, one after another, the animals all started talking, and, before long Peggy was chatting with three cats and a parrot.
So, from that day on, little by little, Peggy started talking more to her schoolmates, trying to find out about their lives. In the end, she came to have more friends than anyone else in the whole school.
