B Knitwear (针织品) might not be the immediate expectation on the runway at London Fashion Week, but 26-year-old Shonagh Murray is redefining its potential. From Birmingham, Shonagh discovered knitting in 2017 during a hospital stay, a creative coping mechanism born from struggling with her physical and mental health. “I just loved the cyclical and rhythmic nature of knitting; I found it very therapeutic (疗愈的),” she explains. “I’m neurodiverse and there is something about the constant counting of numbers that is soothing.” Knitting quickly evolved from a personal balm into a booming brand. After gaining recognition online, Shonagh launched Shone, her knitwear label renowned for its bold, colourful, and unique creations. “My pieces are very unique; they’re not normal knitwear,” Shonagh states. “They stand for quite a lot of different things. The pieces are very bold and I like the people who wear them to feel confident and not afraid to express themselves.” Her latest collection, “Girlhood Nostalgia”, captures this spirit. Inspired by her childhood, it features playful dresses and skirts decorated with bows and pastel colors, seeking to reconnect wearers with their inner child and a joyful, inquisitive approach to life. This collection’s distinctive charm caught the eye of the fashion world, leading to Shonagh’s desired invitation to exhibit at London Fashion Week. Shone is now Shonagh’s full-time endeavour. In stark contrast to the mass-produced fashion industry, she hand-makes each garment using biodegradable yarn, championing sustainable practices. Shonagh also encourages others to embrace the creative process, celebrating the joy and uniqueness found in making one’s own clothes over factory-made alternatives. Her journey is a powerful testament to the transformative power of craft, personal expression, and conscious creation. 4. What initially led Shonagh to start knitting? A To enter the fashion industry. B. To cope with health issues. C. To gain online recognition. D. To learn sustainable skills. 5. What does the underlined word “balm” probably mean? A. A source of emotional comfort. B. A unique artistic skill. C. A sudden burst of inspiration. D. A repetitive physical activity. 6. What can be inferred about Shonagh’s “Girlhood Nostalgia” collection from the passage? A. It is a major commercial success. B. It has a serious and mature theme. C. It is designed exclusively for teenagers. D. It connects playfulness with self-expression. 7. How does Shonagh set her brand apart? A. By creating therapeutic and soothing clothes. B. By deliberately rejecting conventional style entirely. C. By prioritizing mass production for wider popularity D. By crafting items manually with eco-friendly materials. C If you read just one book in 2025, you belong to an endangered species. According to a recent survey, fewer than half of Americans had read a single book in the past year. As the population of readers declines, educators have been worrying about this trend. Now, some try a new method: persuading people to read to save their community spirit. They argue that reflective reading helps citizens handle complexity and recover attention. The problem with these arguments is that they misunderstand why people become readers. Telling someone to love literature because it is good for society is like telling someone to believe in God because religion is good for social stability. It is a practical argument for something that should be a personal passion. Instead of describing reading as a public duty it should be seen as a private pleasure — even a “vice” (恶习). Historically, when literature was considered dangerous or “bad”, moralists could not stop people from buying books. Now, when books are seen as virtuous and educational, those same moralists cannot persuade anyone to pick one up. By making reading a “must-do” task for self-improvement, we have taken away its primary attraction: the thrill of doing something for its own sake, rather than for its usefulness. In fact, becoming a reader means cultivating a relationship with the world that seems counterproductive. Reading is “unprofitable”; it does not teach transferable skills or provide networking opportunities. It is, in a sense, an anti-social activity. You turn your back on the real world to enter an imaginary one. Yet, it is precisely this “uselessness” that makes reading powerful. It offers an inner freedom that cannot be measured by social value. If we want to save reading, we should stop praising its benefits and start celebrating its delightful worthlessness. 8. What is the educators’ real purpose in using the new method? A. To strengthen social stability. B. To fulfill social duties. C. To handle complex problems. D. To stop the decline in reading. 9. What does the author think of the “practical argument”? A. It is quite convincing. B. It is socially responsible. C. It is practically ineffective. D. It is morally wrong. 10. What can we infer about reading from the last paragraph? A. It helps readers avoid social duties. B. It functions as a tool for networking. C. Its power comes from its lack of profit. D. Its value lies in creating a better world. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. The Benefit of Social Reading B. Reading: A Duty or a Vice? C. How to Build Inner Freedom D. The Decline of American Literature D All scribblers of doggerel know that rhymes must be paired before starting a new line, or they risk writing themselves into a dead end with an ill-placed word. New research reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) shares this insight. When asked to compose a rhyming couplet, Claude, a large language model (LLM), begins planning the second part of the rhyme as soon as it writes the first word. For example, given the line “he saw a carrot and had to grab it,” the AI immediately thinks of rabbits, crafting the next line to end with the perfect match. According to researcher Josh Batson, such forethought is unexpected. He had assumed the process would be linear (线性的): start writing the next sentence and only consider rhymes at the end of the line. However, when Dr. Batson and his team at Anthropic developed a digital “microscope” to observe the inner workings of their LLMs, they uncovered surprising complexity. This tool monitors which parts of a neural network activate as the model processes information. For instance, if certain areas light up when the model uses words like “bunny” or “rabbit,” researchers can label them as rabbit-related concepts. This has helped answer fundamental questions, such as how multilingual chatbots operate. Whether asked for the opposite of “big” in English, French (“grand”), or Chinese, the same abstract idea of “smallness” is activated first. Only afterward do language-specific circuits translate it into the appropriate word. This indicates that LLMs grasp concepts at a level beyond language itself, rather than storing separate facts for each language. These findings suggest that LLMs may possess capabilities beyond what is commonly assumed. While newer “reasoning” models explicitly show their thinking step by step, even basic LLMs appear to plan ahead in ways that transcend simple pattern matching. Yet not all discoveries are encouraging. When Claude is prompted to reveal its reasoning —— such as writing out its thought process for a math problem —— the microscope exposes a discrepancy (差异): the model’s stated reasoning may not align with its actual cognitive steps. Troublingly, if the user gives a leading question that hints the answer “might be 4,” the model will specifically invent steps, but this time it selects numbers that lead to the suggested answer —— regardless of whether it is correct. 12. How do both doggerel scribblers and AI Claude approach the task of writing rhymes? A. By avoiding the ill-placed words. B. By planning rhyme pairs in advance. C. By demonstrating artificial activity. D. By employing unpredictable writing processes. 13. What do the observed multilingual activation patterns indicate about conceptual processing in LLMs? A. It is language- dependent and stored separately. B. It involves the misunderstanding about concepts. C. It operates through linear, language- specific ways. D. It prioritizes pre-linguistic abstraction. 14. What hidden risk about the LLM is revealed in the last paragraph? A. Truth sacrificed for users’ approval. B. Random number choices. C. Over- reliance on human control. D. Occasional malfunction in power circuits. 15 What is the author’s main purpose in writing this article? A. To argue that AI has surpassed human capabilities in poetry creation. B. To criticize large language models for fabricating information during reasoning. C. To compare the performance of different LLMs on multilingual tasks. D. To unveil the secrets of the AI reasoning process and its flaws. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Luck is defined as success or failure apparently caused by chance. ___16___ Sometimes it’s calm, and sometimes it blows in gusts, and sometimes it comes from directions that you didn’t even imagine. Now, Baron’s own telescope stood proudly in his room — a sophisticated instrument of black metal and silver accents, paid for with every bit of his summer earnings. “Remember, it’s not a toy,” Baron reminded Leo that day. “The lenses (镜头) are fragile.” Leo nodded earnestly, though his fingers were secretly crossed behind his back. The moment Baron’s skateboard wheels faded down the street, Leo carefully carried the heavy telescope outside. Pointing the telescope skyward felt like unlocking a magic door. A small group of neighborhood children gathered, their gasps of “Awesome!” filling him with a surge of pride. Emboldened, he attempted Baron’s favorite maneuver: tracking a fast-moving satellite. “Steady now,” he murmured to himself, making a slight adjustment. For a glorious moment, a fast-moving object filled the eyepiece (目镜) — then the image suddenly twisted out of shape with a faint grinding sound from inside the tube. “Oh no!” Leo exclaimed, instinctively turning the focus knob (旋钮) too hard. The telescope shook violently on its tripod (三脚架), tipped over, and hit the ground with a sickening heavy sound. When he lifted it, his heart sank: the primary lens was damaged by an intricate web of cracks. Twilight was deepening as Leo carried the wounded instrument back inside, hiding the damaged lens under his sweater. Scare settled in his stomach like cold stone at the thought of facing Baron. “Maybe I can find a replacement lens online before he notices,” he thought desperately. But the web-like cracks seemed to accuse him silently. That night, Leo lay in the dark, the secret weighing heavily on him. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “We have to buy parts to fix it,” said Baron. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 重庆一中高2026 届高三3 月月考 英语试题 注意事项: 1. 1. From Birmingham, Shonagh discovered knitting in 2017 during a hospital stay, a creative coping mechanism born from struggling with her physical and mental health. “I just loved the cyclical and rhythmic nature of knitting; I found it very therapeutic (疗愈),” she explains. A. Instead of describing reading as a public duty, it should be seen as a private pleasure — even a “vice” (恶习). The Decline of American Literature 【答案】8. D 9. C 10. C 11. B 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。调查显示美国人读书人数减少,教育者试图以社会责任劝人阅读。作者认为这无效,阅读的魅力在于其“无用”与内在乐趣,而非功利价值。 【8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“As the population of readers declines, educators have been worrying about this trend. Now, some try a new method: persuading people to read to save their community spirit.(随着读者数量的减少,教育工作者们一直对这一趋势感到担忧。如今,一些人尝试了一种新的方法:通过劝说人们阅读来维护他们的社区精神)”可知,教育者采用这种新方法的真正目的是阻止阅读水平的下降。故选D。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“The problem with these arguments is that they misunderstand why people become readers. Telling someone to love literature because it is good for society is like telling someone to believe in God because religion is good for social stability. It is a practical argument for something that should be a personal passion. Instead of describing reading as a public duty, it should be seen as a private pleasure — even a “vice”(恶习).(这些论点存在的问题在于,它们误解了人们成为读者的原因。比如,告诉某人要热爱文学,因为文学对社会有益,这就好比告诉某人要信仰上帝,因为宗教对社会的稳定有好处。这是一种针对某种应属个人热爱之事的实用论点,但实际上它应该被视为一种个人的愉悦——甚至可以视为一种“恶习”。而不是将阅读描述为一种公共责任)”可知,作者认为“实用论点”实际上毫无效果。故选C。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Reading is “unprofitable”; it does not teach transferable skills or provide networking opportunities. It is, in a sense, an anti-social activity. You turn your back on the real world to enter an imaginary one. Yet, it is precisely this “uselessness” that makes reading powerful.(阅读“无利可图”;它既无法传授实用技能,也无法提供社交机会。从某种意义上说,阅读是一种反社会的行为。你将自己与现实世界隔离开来,进入一个虚构的世界。然而,正是这种“无用性”使得阅读具有强大的力量)”可知,阅读的力量源于其无利可图性。故选C。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“It is a practical argument for something that should be a personal passion. Instead of describing reading as a public duty, it should be seen as a private pleasure — even a “vice”(恶习).(这是一种针对某种应属个人热爱之事的实用论点,但实际上它应该被视为一种个人的愉悦——甚至可以视为一种“恶习”。而不是将阅读描述为一种公共责任)”结合文章主要说明了调查显示美国人读书人数减少,教育者试图以社会责任劝人阅读。作者认为这无效,阅读的魅力在于其“无用”与内在乐趣,而非功利价值。可知,B选项“阅读:一种责任还是恶习?”最符合文章标题。故选B。 D All scribblers of doggerel know that rhymes must be paired before starting a new line, or they risk writing themselves into a dead end with an ill-placed word. 15. What is the author’s main purpose in writing this article? A. To argue that AI has surpassed human capabilities in poetry creation. B. To criticize large language models for fabricating information during reasoning. C To compare the performance of different LLMs on multilingual tasks. D. To unveil the secrets of the AI reasoning process and its flaws. 【答案】12. B 13. D 14. A 15. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。文章主要讲述了研究发现AI写诗时会提前规划韵脚,且具备超越语言的概念理解能力,同时也存在推理与实际认知不符的问题。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第一段“All scribblers of doggerel know that rhymes must be paired before starting a new line, or they risk writing themselves into a dead end with an ill-placed word. New research reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) shares this insight. When asked to compose a rhyming couplet, Claude, a large language model (LLM), begins planning the second part of the rhyme as soon as it writes the first word.(所有写打油诗的人都知道,在开始新的一行之前,必须先搭配好韵脚,否则就有可能因用词不当而陷入创作的死胡同。一项新研究表明,人工智能AI也深谙此道。当被要求创作一副押韵的对联时,大型语言模型Claude在写下第一个词的同时,就开始规划韵脚的第二部分。)”可知,打油诗作者和AI Claude都是通过提前规划韵脚配对来完成押韵创作的。故选B。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第二段“Whether asked for the opposite of “ big” in English, French (“grand”), or Chinese, the same abstract idea of “smallness” is activated first. Only afterward do language-specific circuits translate it into the appropriate word. This indicates that LLMs grasp concepts at a level beyond language itself, rather than storing separate facts for each language.(无论被要求用英语、法语还是汉语说出“大”的反义词,模型都会先激活“小”这一抽象概念,之后才会通过特定语言的神经回路将其转化为对应的词汇。这表明,大型语言模型对概念的理解超越了语言本身,而非为每种语言存储独立的信息。)”可知,大型语言模型的概念处理优先进行语言前的抽象加工,而非依赖特定语言或分开存储。故选D。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Troublingly, if the user gives a leading question that hints the answer “might be 4,” the model will specifically invent steps, but this time it selects numbers that lead to the suggested answer —— regardless of whether it is correct.(令人不安的是,如果用户给出一个暗示答案“可能是4”的引导性问题,模型就会刻意编造步骤,这次它会选择能推导出该答案的数字,而不管答案是否正确。)”可推测,大型语言模型会为了迎合用户的引导性问题而编造步骤、给出答案,牺牲了真实性。故选A。 15题详解】 推理判断题。根据全文内容可知,文章先介绍了AI在押韵创作、概念处理等方面展现出的复杂推理能力,又指出其在推理过程中存在与实际认知不符、为迎合引导性问题编造步骤的缺陷,整体旨在揭示AI推理过程的奥秘与漏洞。故选D。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Luck is defined as success or failure apparently caused by chance. ___16___ Sometimes it’s calm, and sometimes it blows in gusts, and sometimes it comes from directions that you didn’t even imagine. My classmates and I were assigned a specific green area to care for. Each of us worked together with the instructions of the gardening staff. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 That night, Leo lay in the dark, the secret weighing heavily on him. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “We have to buy parts to fix it,” said Baron. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 That night, Leo lay in the dark, the secret weighing heavily on him.The moonlight cast shadows that seemed to mimic the web of cracks on the lens. He imagined Baron’s disappointed face, a vision far worse than any scolding. Finally, just before dawn, he rose with a heavy heart and shuffled to his brother’s room. Gently shaking him awake, Leo confessed in a choked whisper, “I broke the telescope...I tried to track a satellite.” In the pale morning light, he braced himself. Baron was silent for a long moment, then sat up and sighed, placing a hand on Leo’s shoulder. “I already knew,” he said softly. “The tripod was out of place. I was waiting for you to tell me.” The forgiveness in his voice was as clear and calming as the dawn itself. “We have to buy parts to fix it,” said Baron. Together, they ordered the precise replacement lens. When it arrived, the real work began. Evenings were spent at the workbench, Baron patiently guiding Leo’s uncertain hands through the delicate disassembly. They fumbled with tiny screws, consulted manuals, and recalibrated (校准) the alignment over and over. After days of meticulous effort, the final screw was secured. They shared a look — a weary but triumphant smile that needed no words. That very night, they carried the restored telescope outside. When Baron carefully aimed it skyward and Leo peered through the eyepiece, the majestic rings of stars shimmered into view, more brilliant than ever, a silent testament to their shared effort and repaired trust. 词汇激活 行为类 ①坦白:confess/admit ②到达:arrive/reach ③校准:recalibrate/adjust 情绪类 ①失望:disappointed/discouraged ②疲惫:weary/tired 【点睛】[高分句型1] Gently shaking him awake, Leo confessed in a choked whisper, “I broke the telescope...I tried to track a satellite.”(由现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] When Baron carefully aimed it skyward and Leo peered through the eyepiece, the majestic rings of stars shimmered into view, more brilliant than ever, a silent testament to their shared effort and repaired trust.(由when引导时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
