They took responsibility for us, gave instructions, organized school activities, and proudly wore their badges(徽章) while carrying our school flag and walking on the playground. They represented us and gave speeches on school issues, becoming our role models. As I grew older, I finally can take part in the school elections. I prepared my election speech and on the day of the speeches, everyone voted. I was hopeful and prayed for a victory. However, the following morning when we gathered on the school grounds for the head-teacher’s announcement of the results, reality hit me hard. I realized that I had no chance of winning—was neither well known nor too pretty. I became depressed and felt as though I had no friends supporting me. Later that day, as I cried in my room, I took a deep breath and decided to change my attitude. I refused to see myself as a failure and made a determination to run for the school elections again the following year—this time, with a plan to win. I sat down at my study table and wrote down my thoughts. Although my competitors had certain advantages such as their stylish personalities, I recognized my own advantages—good grades, friendliness, helpfulness, and most importantly, my faith in myself to be a great leader. With a whole year ahead, I began to plan my election strategies that evening. To gain recognition(认可) and show my ability to represent my fellow students, I started making new friends and helping them at school. Besides, I attended a public speaking course to learn how to give a great election speech. By the time the elections came around, I was well-prepared, and I gave a passionate speech on the stage. The following day, I anxiously waited for the results. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Later, I realized that I had achieved far more than what I had expected. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: The following day, I anxiously waited for the results. Would my effort pay off? Would I achieve my goal of becoming one of the student leaders? When the principal eventually announced that I had been elected with the second-highest number of votes, I couldn’t help but jump up with excitement. With a bright smile, I walked up to the stage to loud cheers from my fellow students. Their joy showed me that my victory was not just mine, but theirs as well. Later, I realized that I had gained far more than what I had expected. In addition to being appointed as one of the student leaders, I had made numerous friends along the way who now saw me as someone always willing to lend a helping hand. While pursuing my dream, I had become a source of inspiration and hope for other students. By being myself, I had shown them that success would be achievable for anyone if they stuck to their goals, worked hard and believed in themselves. 词汇激活 行为类 ①宣布:announce/declare ②当选:be elected/win an election ③实现:achieve/realize 情绪类 ①激动地:with excitement/passionately ②努力地:hard/diligently 【点睛】 [高分句型1]. The beauties of our campus deserve to be better explored and can best be explored on foot. Walking is also a greener and healthier alternative to using vehicles. To encourage more students and staff members to walk around the campus, our school has launched a new “Walk for Green” initiative. Programme Setting out from the MTR Station, “Walk for Green” recommends various walking routes on campus, one of which covers the YIA Building, LSK Building and LWS Building. Card readers for different walking routes have been installed (安装) to record the number of points completed by “Walk for Green” participants. Participants who collect 60 points within 30 days will be awarded the title “Green Walker”. Participation To participate, students and staff members would choose a marked route and tap their school cards at the card readers installed at both the start and end points (and also at an intermediate card reader). Name, student/staff ID, department/unit, date, time, and card readers tapped will be recorded. Walking Journey Points Important Notes: 1. Walkers must complete one trip (either upwards or downwards) within one hour to score points. 2. A maximum of six points will be awarded each day. Every time you take a walk on campus, you are helping to preserve our environment and also keeping yourself healthy. Let’s start from today! 28. Where does “Walk for Green” start? A. YIA Building. B. LSK Building. C. LWS Building. D. MTR Station. 29. What are participants required to do? A. Collect at least 6 points. B. Complete a round trip. C. Maintain a fixed speed. D. Choose a pre-set route. 30. How many points do you get by walking from YIA Building to LWS Building? A. 1. B. 2. C. 3. D. 6. D 29. D 30. 根据原文第二段“Setting out from the MTR Station, “Walk for Green” recommends various walking routes on campus(“绿色步行”活动从地铁站出发,推荐校园内多条步行路线)” 可知,“绿色步行”活动的起点是地铁站,故选D。 根据原文第三段 “To participate, students and staff members would choose a marked route, and tap their school cards at the card readers installed at both the start and end points (and also at an intermediate card reader).(参与时,师生需选择一条标记路线,并在起点、终点(部分路线含中途)的读卡器上刷卡)” 可知,参与者需选择预设的标记路线,故选D。 C。 B Last summer, I went to France for a holiday. I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good. One hot afternoon, after exploring the city, I felt really tired. I wanted to tell my French friend, Claire, “I am a little tired.” I carefully said the words I’d learned: “Je suis un pue fatigue.” But Claire burst out laughing. My face felt hot. What had I done wrong? Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings; ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad. So, instead of saying you needed a rest, it sounded like you were saying you smelled bad and were tired”. This awkward (尴尬的) moment was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say. The same is true in English, for example, “ship” (a large boat) and “sheep” (a woolly animal) sound very similar, but they mean totally different things. Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning - even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes. 31. Why was the author nervous about his holiday in France? A. He was poor at French. B. He never went abroad. C. He had no friends there. D. He was in short of money. 32. What awkward moment did the author meet? A. He met a wrong person. B. He made a pronunciation mistake. C. He was tricked by the locals. D. He spelt a word incorrectly. 33. What lesson did the author learn from his embarrassing experience? A. It is better to stay silent than to risk making mistakes. B. Mastering grammar is more important than pronunciation. C. A tiny error in speech can lead to a major misunderstanding. D. French is the most difficult language for foreigners to learn. 34. How did the author’s experience in France affect him? A. He smelled bad and was tired. B. He hated learning foreign languages. C. He no longer considered Claire as a friend. D. He became open to mistakes in language learning. A 32. B 33. C 34. 根据文章第一段中的“I was so excited but also a little nervous because my French was not good.(我感到非常兴奋,但也有点紧张,因为我的法语不太好。)” A“He was poor at French.(他的法语不好。)” 故选A。 根据第三段中“Claire explained, “In French, there are words that sound similar but have very different meanings. ‘peu’ means ‘a little,’ but if you pronounce it differently, it can sound like ‘pue’, which means ‘stinks’ — like something smells bad.(Claire解释说:“在法语中,有些词发音相似,但意思却大不相同。‘peu’的意思是‘一点点’,但如果你发音不同,听起来就像‘pue’,意思是‘发臭’——就像什么东西闻起来很臭。)”可知,作者遇到的尴尬时刻是发音错误。故选B。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第四段中的“It made me realize just how daunting pronunciation can be in a foreign language. Even small differences in pronunciation can completely change the meaning of what you’re trying to say.(这让我意识到发音在外语中是多么令人畏惧。即使发音上的微小差异也可能完全改变你想表达的意思。)”以及后文提到的英语中的例子“ship”和“sheep”的发音相似但意思完全不同,可以推断出作者从这次尴尬的经历中学到了一个教训:语言中的微小错误可能导致重大的误解。因此,选项C“A tiny error in speech can lead to a major misunderstanding.(语言中的微小错误可能导致重大的误解。)”符合题意。故选C。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中的“Now, I pay extra attention to how words sound and what they mean. And if I mix them up again? I’ll just laugh along. After all, laughing is part of learning - even if it’s a bit stinky sometimes.(现在,我会格外注意单词的发音和意思。如果我再把它们混淆了呢?我会跟着一起笑的。毕竟,笑是学习的一部分——即使有时有点尴尬。)”可知,作者在法国的经历让他对语言学习中的错误持开放态度,他不再害怕犯错,而是选择以积极的心态面对并从中学习。故选D。 C Middle school is a hard time for teenagers. They’re not little kids anymore, but they’re not fully-grown. The social environment for middle schoolers can be full of ever-changing friendships, confusing messages and making clear which friends are good friends. Life skills every middle school student needs to learn include understanding, self-respect, time management, teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. These skills lay the foundation (基础) for success in high school, college, and the working world. Middle school students should learn that not only is it OK to ask questions in class but it’s also expected. Middle school students should know how to learn through questioning and should know that it is OK to ask teachers to explain materials they don’t understand. They should also understand that disagreement is part of life and should begin to understand that school isn’t for teaching you what to think, but rather how to think — how to analyze and solve problems, how to separate facts from opinions, and how to seek out different viewpoints. Middle schoolers who don’t know any way out of a disagreement other than a fight are going to have a hard time in life. Peaceful and respectful ways of solving problems are an essential life skill that should be learned in middle school. Whether it’s fighting over cutting in the lunch line, or what clothes who is wearing, middle schoolers must learn how to hear each other out and to make compromises (折中). Middle schoolers can learn to discuss respectfully, avoid interruption, and listen patiently and actively to understand what another speaker has said. Good communication is clear, short, and to the point, but with guidance, they can learn how to organize their thoughts and present their ideas properly. Middle school may be a student’ s first time to manage their own class schedule and homework. They need tools to help them stay organized and to manage their time effectively. Middle school requires a more structured way to balance schoolwork with after-class activities and still have time for hanging out with friends. 35. What can we say about middle school students from the first two paragraphs? A. They are complete adults. B. They are short in life skills. C. They want to be successful. D. They need to be understood. 36. What skill is talked about in the fourth paragraph? A. Being respectful. B. Telling right from wrong. C. Dealing with differences. D. Avoiding disappointments. 37. What is the probable meaning of the underlined word “interruption” in paragraph 5? A. Replying too directly. B. Communicating aimlessly. C. Partnering with the speaker. D. Stopping others from speaking. 38. What can be the best title for this text? A. Gains and Losses of Middle School B. Life Skills for Middle School Students C. Challenges that Middle Schoolers Face D. Tips on Making Friends in Middle School 【答案】35. B 36. C 37. D 38. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍中学生需要学习的各项生活技能及其重要性。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“Middle school is a hard time for teenagers. They’re not little kids anymore, but they’re not fully-grown. (对青少年来说,中学是一段艰难的时期。他们不再是小孩子了,但他们还没有完全长大。)”和第二段中的“Life skills every middle school student needs to learn include understanding, self-respect, time management, teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.(每个中学生都需要学习的生活技能包括理解、自尊、时间管理、团队合作、创造性思维、解决问题和沟通技巧。)”可知,中学生还没有完全成熟,需要学习这些生活技能,所以可以推断,他们在生活技能方面有所欠缺,。故选B项。 【36题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“They should also understand that disagreement is part of life and should begin to understand that school isn’t for teaching you what to think, but rather how to think — how to analyze and solve problems, how to separate facts from opinions, and how to seek out different viewpoints. (他们还应该明白,分歧是生活的一部分,而且应该开始理解,学校并非是教你思考什么,而是教你如何思考 —— 如何分析和解决问题,如何区分事实与观点,以及如何探寻不同的视角。)”以及“Whether it’s fighting over cutting in the lunch line, or what clothes who is wearing, middle schoolers must learn how to hear each other out and to make compromises (折中).(无论是为午餐排队时插队的事情争吵,还是为某人穿了什么衣服而争执,中学生都必须学会倾听彼此的想法并做出折中。)”可知,第四段谈论的是处理分歧的技能。故选C项。 【37题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第五段中的“Middle schoolers can learn to discuss respectfully, avoid interruption, and listen patiently and actively to understand what another speaker has said.(中学生可以学习尊重地讨论,避免interruption,耐心且积极地倾听,以理解另一个发言者所说的话。)”可知,此处讲述在讨论中要尊重他人,耐心倾听,可推断此处指不要打断对方,所以划线单词“interruption”的意思为“打断”。故选D项。 【38题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段“Life skills every middle school student needs to learn include understanding, self-respect, time management, teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. These skills lay the foundation (基础) for success in high school, college, and the working world.(每个中学生都需要学习的生活技能包括理解能力、自尊、时间管理、团队合作、创造性思维、解决问题的能力以及沟通技巧。这些技能为他们在高中、大学以及职场中的成功奠定了基础。)”以及下文中分段介绍的这些技能可知,文章围绕中学生需要学习的生活技能展开,包括理解、自尊、时间管理、处理分歧、沟通等技能,因此“中学生的生活技能”最适合作为本文标题。故选B项。 D A major study has investigated the relationship between walking and the risk of developing chronic (慢性的) lower back problems. The findings could save the healthcare system significant amounts of money while also easing many people’s back pain if we just follow the simple advice provided. The results are clear: People who walk a lot have less back pain than people who do not walk much and the amount is what matters most, not the intensity (强度). It is better to walk a lot than to walk fast. “People who walk more than 100 minutes every day have a 23% lower risk of back problems than those who walk 78 minutes or less,” said Rayane Haddadj, a PhD candidate at the Department of Public Health and Nursing at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). It probably comes as no surprise that physical activity is good for your back, but until now, we have not known whether the amount of low-intensity walking we do also helps prevent back problems. “Intensity also plays a role in the risk of long-term back problems, but not as much as the daily amount of walking,” emphasized Haddadj. The results may be important in relation to preventing chronic back problems. Until now, there has been little research on the prevention (预防) of these types of problems. It is well known that physical activity can prevent a wide range of illnesses and diseases. This study is important because it confirms that physical activity, especially daily walking, can help prevent long-term lower back problems. “The findings highlight the importance of finding time to be physically active to prevent both chronic back problems and a number of other diseases. Over time, this could lead to major savings for society,” said Paul Jarle Mork, a professor at NTNU’s Department of Public Health and Nursing. 39 What aspect does the first paragraph stress about the findings? A. Patients’ answers. B. Public concern. C. Practical benefits. D. Simple advice. 40. What is more important for reducing back pain according to the study? A. The place of walking. B. The pace of walking. C. The size of walking steps. D. The amount of walking. 41. Which of the following needs more research? A. What effect walking can bring about. B. How to prevent chronic back pain. C. Why physical activity is important. D. What causes chronic back problems. 42. What is Paul’s attitude towards the result of the study? A. Positive. B. Doubtful. C. Worried. D. Uncaring. 【答案】39. C 40. D 41. B 42. Although my competitors had certain advantages such as their stylish personalities I recognized my own advantages—good grades, friendliness, helpfulness, and most importantly, my faith in myself to be a great leader. 注意: 1.续写词数应为 150 左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The following day, I anxiously waited for the results. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Later, I realized that I had achieved far more than what I had expected. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二部分 阅读 (共两节,满分50分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A WALK FOR GREEN How often do you walk around the campus instead of getting straight onto the shuttle bus? A. 1. B. 2. C. 3. D. 6. B Last summer, I went to France for a holiday. 31. He smelled bad and was tired. B He hated learning foreign languages. C. He no longer considered Claire as a friend. D. He became open to mistakes in language learning. C Middle school is a hard time for teenagers. Middle school students should learn that not only is it OK to ask questions in class, but it’s also expected. 35. Stopping others from speaking. 38. What can be the best title for this text? A. Gains and Losses of Middle School B. Life Skills for Middle School Students C. Challenges that Middle Schoolers Face D. Tips on Making Friends in Middle School D A major study has investigated the relationship between walking and the risk of developing chronic (慢性的) lower back problems. 39. What aspect does the first paragraph stress about the findings? B How to prevent chronic back pain. C. Why physical activity is important. D. What causes chronic back problems. 42. What is Paul’s attitude towards the result of the study? A. Positive. B. Doubtful. C. Worried. D. Uncaring. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Traveling itself is an experience that is hard to be described in words. ____43____ Especially the solo (独自) traveling experience is so powerful that it lives with you forever.
