Is the Internet good or bad? It’s always a hot topic in our daily life. Different people may have different answers. Since the Internet came into being, it has brought us happiness and tears. Let’s take a look at some things that are disappearing as the Internet grows.
When modern people need to record some important things quickly, they don’t find a pen and a piece of paper to write, but to open their mobile phone or computer to record. As a result, it’s common for many people to “pick up the pen but forget the words”. Perhaps, in a few years, pens and paper may disappear.
As people lose themselves more and more in the online world, real-looking photos are disappearing and you can only watch the beautiful pictures on the Internet. If one day you post a real photo on your social media platform, others will even think if it is a photo to make fun of.
Now anyone can get digital maps in a few seconds by using computers or mobile phones. They are easy and fast for users. Do you remember the last time that you used the paper maps?
After a busy day, people used to watch TV and share information and express feelings with their family. Nowadays, at home, a person with a mobile phone is the whole world!
19.How do people enjoy recording important things now?
A.By writing it on the paper. B.By remembering it in mind.
C.By using the mobile phone or computer. D.By sticking it on the wall.
20.Which of the following best describes (描述) most photos online now?
A.Funny and true. B.Beautiful but not real.
C.Ugly and wrong. D.Wonderful but not perfect.
21.What does the underlined word “They” refer to in Paragraph 4?
A.Computers. B.Mobile phones.
C.Digital maps. D.Paper maps.
22.What can you infer (推断) from the passage?
A.Most people think the Internet is good.
B.People don’t need to learn how to write the words now.
C.The paper maps aren’t correct any more.
D.People prefer playing with the mobile phone instead of talking with families.
C
Many teenagers close their books or give up easily when they meet difficulties again and again. They easily believe that their efforts are useless and finally stop challenging themselves. This common but harmful state (状态) of mind—giving up because of repeated failures—is called learned helplessness.
The idea was first proved by Seligman, a famous American psychologist (心理学家), in his dog experiment in the 1960s.
He put some dogs in a closed box with no way out. Then he gave them small electric shocks (电击) that the dogs could not avoid. Try as they might, the dogs could not run away or stop the pain.
Later, Seligman opened a clear door in the box—the dogs could easily escape if they wanted. But surprisingly, they just lay there and gave up trying at all.
The experiment showed that repeated failure could make living things lose the courage to try, whether animals or humans.
Such a state mainly comes from three kinds of wrong thinking.
First, people hold a strong belief that they can hardly change the results no matter how hard they work. Second, they only connect failure with their own weaknesses but pay little attention to outside conditions. such as the environment or unexpected accidents. Third, they only see their mistakes but completely ignore the progress they have made. For example, a runner feels upset about not winning the running race but fails to notice his running speed has improved.
▲ He developed another idea “learned optimism (乐观)”, which means optimism can be learned and trained as a useful life skill. To help people learn it easily, he designed the classic ABCDE method.
Adversity—difficult things that happen to us.
Belief—our first thoughts about the difficulties.
Consequence—the feelings or results caused by our beliefs.
Disputation—questioning and correcting our wrong ideas.
Energization—taking active new actions after changing our mind.
Learned helplessness is not a final state. By using the ABCDE method, setting small and clear goals, and praising our own progress, we can build optimism little by little. Failure is not a final judgment, but a chance for us to think and improve.
23.What’s the correct order of Seligman’s dog experiment?
①The dogs gave up trying even with an open door.
②The dogs got electric shocks they couldn’t avoid.
③The dogs were put in a closed box with no way out.
A.③→②→① B.②→③→① C.③→①→② D.②→①→③
24.Which of the following is the wrong thinking that causes learned helplessness?
A.Tom believes he can change his Maths exam results through his hard work.
B.Mary thinks failure is a good chance to find out her problems and make progress.
C.Jack realizes he made many spelling mistakes but his reading skills improved a lot.
D.Linda thinks her bad grades all come from her poor ability though the tests are hard.
25.Which sentence can be put in the ▲ ?
A.As a result, nobody wants to face their mistakes.
B.Besides, Seligman did more experiments on animals.
C.However, Seligman’s later research brought people hope.
D.Unluckily, Seligman found no useful ways to help people.
26.What is the writer’s main purpose of writing the passage?
A.To tell teenagers a famous psychologist’s funny experiment.
B.To explain three kinds of wrong thinking among teenagers.
C.To introduce an unhealthy state and help teenagers fight against it.
D.To teach teenagers how to remember the ABCDE method quickly.
D
In early January 2026, a heartfelt video plea from Hechuan, Chongqing, captured the nation’s attention. An internet user known as “Daidai” sought help slaughtering her family’s year-end pig, offering a traditional Pao Zhu Tang feast in return. The video quickly amassed over 180,000 likes and was shared 140,000 times, drawing thousands of spontaneous (自发的) visitors from across China to her village.
Pao Zhu Tang, a centuries-old custom rooted in the rural Southwest, is far more than a meal—it is a cornerstone of community. Historically, neighbors gathered to help with the slaughter, and the host family repaid this labor with a generous feast from the fresh pork, embodying a powerful spirit of mutual aid and collective celebration.
Its explosive resonance (共鸣) speaks to a widespread yearning among urban Chinese for authentic “Nianwei” — the distinctive warmth and atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. In a modern life increasingly mediated by digital screens, the tradition’s tangible gathering offers a profound sense of emotional connection and cultural comfort.
Recognizing this, local authorities adeptly steered the momentum. They ensured smooth logistics, enriched the event with intangible cultural heritage performances, and formally established the “Pao Zhu Tang Folk Culture Festival.” This strategic move successfully transformed a fleeting (短暂的) internet moment into a sustainable model for cultural tourism.
Ultimately, this phenomenon demonstrates how digital platforms can breathe new life into ancient customs. It builds a bridge between urban and rural China, supports rural revitalization, and proves that living heritage, when engaged with dynamically, remains a vital and vibrant force in contemporary society.
27.What can we infer from the fact that Daidai’s video attracted thousands of spontaneous visitors?
A.The video has powerful content supported by local authorities.
B.Pao Zhu Tang has great appeal to people across the country.
C.Daidai was well-known before she posted the video.
D.The visitors were mainly people who had experience in pig slaughtering.
28.Which sentence uses “cornerstone” with the same meaning as the underlined world?
cornerstone /ˈkɔːnəstəʊn/
A.The cornerstone is the foundation of the entire structure.
B.Honesty is the cornerstone of a trustworthy relationship.
C.This principle cornerstones the development of the whole project.
D.The ancient temple’s cornerstone supports its weight and keeps it standing firm.
29.Which of the following is the local authorities’ strategic move?
A.Providing support to people who want to make a career in cultural tourism.
B.Creating a video plea to make Pao Zhu Tang more famous.
C.Turning the short-lived internet popularity into a sustainable cultural tourism model.
D.Encouraging the spirit of mutual aid and collective celebration.
30.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To express the long-standing value of mutual aid.
B.To show the distinctiveness of authentic “Nianwei”.
C.To explain the process of creating a folk culture festival.
D.To demonstrate how digital platforms revitalize ancient customs.

a. You can improve it by listening to tapes. Repeat each sentence slowly, copying the pronunciation. Record yourself and compare with the tapes.
b. First, review vocabulary and grammar for 10 minutes every morning. Then write down key words and make sentences. Try to breathe deeply before starting an exam.

故选A。

根据“When modern people need to record some important things quickly, they don’t find a pen and a piece of paper to write, but to open their mobile phone or computer to record.”
根据“real-looking photos are disappearing and you can only watch the beautiful pictures on the Internet.”
根据“Now anyone can get digital maps in a few seconds by using computers or mobile phones. They are easy and fast for users.”
根据“Nowadays, at home, a person with a mobile phone is the whole world!”
【答案】23.A 24.D 25.C 26.C
根据“He put some dogs in a closed box with no way out. Then he gave them small electric shocks that the dogs could not avoid.”以及“Later, Seligman opened a clear door in the box—the dogs could easily escape if they wanted. But surprisingly, they just lay there and gave up trying at all.” 故选A。
根据“Second, they only connect failure with their own weaknesses but pay little attention to outside conditions. such as the environment or unexpected accidents.”
根据“He developed another idea ‘learned optimism (乐观)’, which means optimism can be learned and trained as a useful life skill”以及上文介绍了习得性无助的成因与危害,可知此空格需要承上启下的转折句,引出解决方法,给人们带来希望。
根据第一段“drawing thousands of spontaneous visitors from across China to her village”及第三段“Its explosive resonance speaks to a widespread yearning among urban Chinese for authentic 'Nianwei'”可知,视频吸引了全国自发游客,说明“刨猪汤”习俗对全国人民有很大吸引力。故选B。
根据“it is a cornerstone of community”可知,此处指它是社区的核心要素,cornerstone表示“核心要素”。
根据第四段“This strategic move successfully transformed a fleeting internet moment into a sustainable model for cultural tourism”可知,当地政府的战略举措是将短暂的网络热度转化为可持续的文化旅游模式。故选C。
根据最后一段“Ultimately, this phenomenon demonstrates how digital platforms can breathe new life into ancient customs”可知,文章的主要目的是展示数字平台如何为古老习俗注入新活力,实现乡村振兴。故选D。
